I'm currently playing the game on handheld mode and the 30fps framerate is NOT the issue this video might imply that it is. I've experienced no problems whatsoever playing it on handheld mode. None. No problems with the game in terms of performance either. No crashes. No pop-in. No slowdowns even during the hectic jailbreak stage where you get flooded with enemies. This is a 22 year old game, tho. So don't expect the modern day quality of life features common to current third person shooters. I beat the game back in 2002 on the GameCube and bought the game just to see if I still was able to do it again today. And we'll, the game was still very engaging and enjoyable. It's not a game that you get to just chill, tho. It's not exactly a walk in the park. The game can be challenging.

In this game, the enemy count is low enough to not seriously affect the gameplay. And the environments are also not very detailed to have any meaningful impact on the framerate. Would've it be better if it ran at 60fps on handheld mode? I guess. But again, I'm playing on handheld mode because I noticed that the framerate was not an issue. It doesn't affect in any way my playthrough. I beat the game recently and any deaths that I suffered weren't because of the framerate getting in the way. No, it was because I got careless and didn't notice how empty my jetpack was or because I failed to take out a sniper before I entered an open area.
I'm so happy that gyro controls mean as much to you as they do to me. I can always count on you to tell me whether a game has them or not lol. I am also disappointed that this was doesn't.
I used to play this for the GameCube at my friend's house, and I always wanted to own it, but my parents wouldn't buy it for me. I did own (and still do ) the Clone Wars game, which was mostly a vehicle campaign. I'm extremely happy that Bounty Hunter is now available for the switch. My inner child is going to love it.

This game is in my top 10 nostalgic games list. Playing it as a kid was like nothing I’d ever seen. It was actually pretty tough and could never even complete it till I was a teenager. I own the ps2 copy and it’s a prized possession. Peak star wars and the main menu music slaps.

I absolutely love this game but it was never a looker even back in the day. It always was really rough around the edges, visually. I had the Game Cube version which did run better and look sharper than the PS2 and it still looked primitive to launch games a year prior like Rogue Squadron 2, Luigi's Mansion, and Wave Race: Blue Storm.
I think I played it for a bit on my PS2, but I remembered not playing it again. I would get this game to give it another shot. Though without gyro to help making aiming more precise is a deal breaker, plus there are other games I have more interested in that I added to my wish list. Though I'm glad for those that still enjoy this, rather by nostalgia or playing it for the first time.

Star Wars bounty Hunter seems pretty good on switch with the only downside that in handheld mode it’s only capped at 30 FPS which is so disappointing considering that the resolution is only 720p in handheld mode that’s really easily surprising and disappointing at the same time. consider within dark mode it’s 60 FPS at 10:80. PI wonder why aspire struggled so much with it being in handheld mode but I think you said it in the review that they struggled with the variable clock speeds of the switch GPU anyway guys great with you. I think I will wait until there’s a physical release.

The legacy controls are easy to use. Idk what you’re talking about in terms of modern controls being “easier”. The modern controls are actually harder to use than the legacy controls. With the legacy controls, you can fire Jango’s pistols super quickly, but with modern controls, you aren’t able to shoot as fast. Plus with legacy controls, you have more maneuverability when in fire fights. I have found myself getting shot and taking more damage with modern controls because I can’t maneuver quickly like I could with legacy controls.
Me watching a review after already buying the game 😎. Only issues I've had are the lock on not working sometimes and the camera bugging out when I look up or down. Other than that I'm having a great time with the game

Can someone explain to me why any game runs worse handheld than docked? I didn't think there was any processing power in the dock. Am I wrong? I just thought it was a way of connecting it to your TV. I would think every game should run, or at least look, better handheld since it is for a smaller screen.
If I recall correctly, it's more of a heating thing, the dock might have a fan inside. Possibly also power supply, just like how laptops can use more power on cable compared to battery only Edit: Remembered it wrong, no fan in the dock so it must be power/battery life-related

The Switch runs at higher clocks when docked. No fans or anything. The tegra is also massively downclocked in handheld and even when docked doesn't run at native which is silly. Mark

Sorry a bit late in watching this review. I guess I have missed this game back in the day. The only Star Wars I loved to play back then was SW Republic Commando. Still one of my favorite Star Wars games still. I still havent bought it for the Switch. But aside from the gameplay and 30 fps in handheld. Is this game worth getting? 68% is a good score overall but is it a game that is a must play?
I just want a new version of shadows of the empire. I don’t care if they improve anything. I just need an easy way to play it. I always play my switch docked so handheld never matters to me.
It is frustrating that in this day and age these "remastered" re-released games appear to have such little work put into them, 60 FPS should be standard. There really is no real excuse for it. The whole games already been made years ago so it is very clear there doing this for cash grab reasons only and putting minimal money and effort in. Which is a real shame because alot of these games are really good. Will I still buy this though? Who am I kidding, probably yes. But I think, just like the Battlefront collection, I will hold off for a hopeful physical copy because my 1 TB SD cards taken quite the battering thanks to Switch ups sales videos haha 😂
I played through the original on Game Cube which held 30 fps most of the time. I really don't understand why you are making a big deal about 30 fps in handheld? Regardless, your frame analysis would have been more useful on later levels such as the Dug hideout as that was where the original really struggled.

I wonder if the 30 FPS in Handheld is similar to Jedi Knight II and Jedi Academy. They run at 1080 30 FPS in handheld with super sampling.
Jedi knight II runs great, academy has a lot of performance issues on switch still.

Luckily, with a modded unit you can force 60fps in handheld. With little OC it will be smooth as butter.
You don't even need a modded Switch, it is higher than 30fps in handheld
