I was there when this video was filmed. great concert and one of their last live events before the world closed down due to Covid a month later. Great show and a great band!
The Carolus Rex album is also available in English (the last track is still in swedish tho). Some of the lyrics have a different point of view in the English version. "En Livstid i krig" is from the same tour, but recorded in Gothenburg the day before. All official live videos from this tour was recorded from stage.
The energy given at their home country shows(Sweden) and singing songs about Swedish history is on a whole other level. Same thing with the Polish Songs in Poland
I've had the "Carolus Rex" album as my favourite for a long time. But their new album, "The war to end all wars" is about to change that... 😄 But all of their albums have a very high quality. So I enjoy most of their stuff and I havent found one bad song yet..
@@lionfromthenorth4580 Newest for 1st time listening I felt disappointed. Guitars are (guitarist myself) in big role but songs aren't as good as The great war. "carolus is always kinda epic" Absolute favorite is Karolinens Bön
They did a "proper" DVD with a lot of cameras from one of those shows. You can find it as "The Great Show in Prague 2020" They sell that one, but it's also on YT now... They filmed different song at each show like this, on their 2020 european tour (they called it "The Great Tour", since that 2019 album they were touring on, was called "The Great War". The guy filming this (and all the other ones from this tour filmed like this) is the same guy who does their tour vlogs. In fact I think, these WERE filmed for the vlogs (there's tiny bits of the shows like this, in those vlogs), but then the covid hit and they put the full clips out to cheer people up during the lockdowns. Sabaton does a LOT of high quality behind the scenes stuff for their fans, which is why, they also want to give everyone a chance to see what the band sees on stage.
The king Carolus Rex (1682-1718) is Swedens most notorious and infamous king. He was a great war leader and he was feared by his foes and beloved by his soldiers. Also his death on the battlefield is still a mystery that fascinate ppl to this day. His achilles heel was that he never gave up on a fight and bankrupted the country and the fatal shot could therefore have come from his own for political reasons.
Rex is latin for King. He is a contentious ruler these days. One one hand he saved Sweden from becoming part of Russia. On the other hand his wars really drained Sweden of lives and resources. I've always enjoyed this song, mainly because it made me register how religion was used as a tool even back then. We learned about his ordeal with the church in school, but somehow it only registered as tactics in my head. He was not the first, and the last ruler to do it is not born yet.
What's important to know too is that he didn't start the wars himself all of them was others attacking us during his ruling, but his mistake was that he refused to end any war he didn't gain more than the enemy on
I actually had the opposite reaction while watching it. While there is certainly room for improvement I found it way better than many other translations on videos from this band.

I was there in Gothenburg, it was one hell of a show that night.

The whole Carolus Rex album is on a level of its own. Masterpiece.
Wow… great song .👍🏽
For me it's about same level than The Great war which is their best album.

Great reaction!:)
If you haven't, I would recommend that you take a listen to "En Livstid I Krig" where they play live in Gothenburg.
I get goosebumps from it
The last two Sabaton albums have 'soundtrack/symphonic' version of songs (without lyrics)

you should go for their woodstock 2012 gig, it was the most epic gig of sabaton
Sure we’ll get there.👍🏽

Yes it's apocalyptica .
Then you should listen to ruina imperii by Sabaton
Next lion from the nord?
Länge leve Karl XII👑👑👑
The lyric translation is preeeetty bad

@@janpersson9818 "no oath no oath"... ingen ed lagd ingen ed jag svär
@@Azzazz1n97 That part isn't very good of course but there are much worse translations out there with way more errors.
WOW, whoever did the translation for this needs to stop doing translation work. Absolutely horrible translation, with many faults.
those subtitles sucked...... lost all meaning
