You can definitely create realistic fur without glazing if you are much more careful with your colour mixing throughout your painting. I personally find glazing to be much easier, and gives you more flexibility 😊
Just a thought, maybe for the next video, have a reference photo on one side for the person watching to follow along what you’re seeing. 😍 great tut though!! Thank you!
This is probably one of the best fur tutorials I have ever watched. Thanks for sharing your techniques, hopefully now I can try finish my dog portrait.
Absolutely beautiful. I love how the wolf fur turned out. I'm starting my first wolf painting and this is really helpful. Next is painting a portrait of my frenchies lol. Thanks for sharing
WOW!!! Thank you so much, Danielle, for such an INSPIRING tutorial with so many educational 'basics' tips that I really need!!! I watched someone else's video just prior and he was discussing the 'glazing technique' in greater detail which helped me with your video. Otherwise I might have thought you were using a special type of paint (that's how much of a beginner I am)! I'll be watching more of your videos ... you make it all look so darned easy but of course, it takes years and years to get to your level!
As easy and informative as this video is it’s still difficult to get my head around this technique. So there’s no solution other than practise practise practise. Thankyou for though
Oh man, now I want to paint over my entire project and start over. But then again I may be able to save it with your tutorial. Thank you for taking the time to do this!
This was so helpful! I want to paint a portrait of my long-haired grey cat and was feeling a bit overwhelmed with how to go about it. Your video helped me understand the process so much better, and now I feel more confident at giving it a try. Thank you!
This is beautiful - such fun watching it all come together from a blob to the 'real live thing'. Thank you for the video. I will explore more. Want to do my Tibetan Mastiff and create some for those in sheltered housing not allowed to have a second dog.
Thanks for the tutorial! I have always been frustrated because I started by painting the fur first and it would always look so muddy and one dimensional, but now that I realize that you should start with the base color, it all came together.
You are so talented. Your paintings are beautiful and your videos are so helpful. I will definitely start following you more from now on. Thank you so much 🥰
Absolutely beautiful....even in this small piece of fur, you can get the full glory of what the entire animal would look like. I'm here because I want to paint my dogs, a sort of magnum opus work with very limited abilities. One can dream. 🙂
This was such a great video. Exactly the instruction I needed. Would love to see a video on painting very short fine hair such as the nose of a tiger with short strokes where the fur is very thin. This I find is the hardest area to do
Really nice tutorial on painting fur. Would appreciate another showing how to make the transitions from body to head/face on animals that have finer fur. Guess I should dig into more of your videos than just this first intro to your work. Also curious to know how dry the painting was before you applied the glaze. No tack whatsoever?
Very helpful tutorial thank you so much, you can learn a lot just by looking at your steps, I am not a beginner, but you can always learn and improve, thanks again.
Daniell, wonderful job, you make it looks so easy but we know its not easy. question, do you wait between layers to dry to add the next one ( I mean between the first full fill you do general big cover and the second with more details? thanks in advance for answer💞
Hi, I just watched your video. It's extremely helpful! I'm ready to paint a fox for my son for Christmas, and I want to get the details right. I have blocked the background colors, now I need to move on from that. Your video is exactly what I needed. Thank you for sharing your talents and techniques.
Thank you, for this fabulous video! I am new to acrylic painting but found this video very helpful as l want to paint my cat's face and part of her neck. I am wondering where do l start? A little lost in how to start 🙄 do l start with her eyes first and work my way outwards? Could l please ask that you do a cats face, long haired cat if possible to give me confidence on what to do. Thank you in advance!

Is it possible to paint realistic fur without the glaze? Or is glaze the big secret to getting it to look ultra realistic? Thanks in advance!
