While i was watching this movie all i was thinking at the end was should've listen to what jules was saying to u vincent. u might had a chance to live longer.
A few weeks ago I saw Forrest Gump for the first time and I was like is pulp fiction and shawshank redemption really going to be as great as this. And I probably prefer pulp fiction. So if shawshank redemption is anywhere near as good as these two movies I’m in for a fucking treat
My favorite chapter was The Gold Watch, and the Pawn Shop scene. I know it's a fucked up sequence, but that's the point. It's supposed to be Butch's POW Camp, like what his father went through, to save the gold watch.
That's what I thought it was too! It's like Walken says: "when two men are in a situation like Me and your Dad were for as long as we were, you take on certain responsibilities of the other." I think I've seen this movie too many times.
My favorite line has got to be when Jules and Vincent are in the bathroom arguing over the towel Vincent just got bloody: Jules: " Well you spossed to wash em first." Vincent: "Well you just watched me wash em." Jules: "I watched you get em wet." That line cracks me up every time. Never the kind of humor you'd expect in a movie like this and it's done so earnestly. Honorary mention is the true greatest line in the movie by Sam Jackson. "Well I'm a mushroom cloud-layin motherfucker motherfucker."
+Batmanisawesomesoami I just watched it today myself. At first I thought "What is this and why are we skipping around so much? This is lame..." But by the end of it I totally got it.
+Batmanisawesomesoami Maybe it was better that you waited until you can really appreciate it. If you where younger you might have just laughed at how much everyone swears.
I have seen the Marvin got shot in the face scene maybe 10000 times, and even when I know whats coming I just can't help but laugh my ass off. And the funniest part isn't even when he gets shot in the face, it's when Vincent goes "Aw man I shot Marvin in the face..." and says it as if he spilled the milk or something. It's not like HOLY FUCK WHAT DID I JUST DO!
A little late on my reply but the part where they were arguing about Vince getting the hand towels bloody and Jules having a meltdown about cleaning the blood and skull bone bits out the car always cracks me up lol
Made it though high school not fully aware of John Travolta. This was the first movie I ever saw him in. Once I realized who he was, I immediately watched Grease because I could not wrap my head around the fact that the dude playing Vincent Vega could sing and dance.
i never thought I'd say this about a Tarantino movie but hateful 8 actually had a little too much dialogue lol soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much talking, don't get me wrong though I enjoyed it
A little late to give an answer by a film that is all dialogue that shows smiths writing chops is cult favorite clerks. Also his arguably best film(I prefer clerks) is chasing amy. Kevin smith has also done dogma jay and silent bob strike back and a few less noteworthy films
CharlieWafles RJ I wouldn't say Butch meeting Marcellus on the traffic light is a coincidence. IIRC they were near Butch's apartment where Vince was waiting for him. Also, Marcellus was carrying coffe (or something like that) wich would probably mean he was with Vince waiting for Butch.
I believe it's on of the Greatest Movies of all time, but not the Greatest movie of all time. IM NOT HATING I really do Love this movie as much as the next Guy
Pulp Fiction is my all time favorite movie. Aside from being ridiculously entertaining, it's much deeper than it seems at first glance. The whole point of it is subtly, brilliantly illustrated with symbolism all throughout the movie. Ultimately it's about finding _purpose_ and _meaning_ in one's life--particularly when surrounded by a culture that seems to have lost its purpose.
I absolutely love Pulp Fiction, but the pawn shop scene almost ruined it for me because it triggered my PTSD. Other than that, it's one of the most tightly written movies I've ever watched.
I liked the dialogue between Butch and his wife. With the amount of time the scene is and how natural their dialogue between each other feels it helps you care about their relationship enough to be invested
this movie is number 2 on my top 10. My favorite part is when Marcellus is talking to Butch and he's all like "you my nigga..." and Butch says "it would appear so" lmfaoo. But my fave chapter is chapter 2...."Royal with cheese.....I like the sound of that"
fuckgoogle+ At the end of Captain America The Winter Soldier on a certain characters grave, not spoiling it for you because it's a kickass movie to watch spoiler free, is a quote from Pulp Fiction like Jeremy said a long while before this movie came out, oh and I agree with you username completely, thanks, hope I didn't ruin too much for you :)
Hey Jeremy I am a pretty big fan of yours. I love your reviews! I would also like to suggest 3 of my favorite movies i have not seen on your cannel, but you probably have seen. 1. Forrest Gump 2. Shawshank Redemption 3. The Green Mile Hopefully you see this and take it into consideration, and good work!
My favorite scene is probably Vincent's date with Mia Wallace. The dialogue is really great and omg that dance, just awesome. John Travolta dancing is just heaven for my eyes
The Vincent and Mia dinner...definitely my favorite chapter. Also the Bonnie Situation. Also the Gold Watch. Vincent and Mia dinner was definitely my favorite though.
My favorite chapter is The Bonnie Situation. The whole scene with Jules and Ringo and the Mexican Standoff gives me the chills every time. Especially at the end when Jules explains his famous Bible quote to Ringo. That's one of my favorite quotes in movie history.
I was glued to the screen. I have watched it once. I can recall every scene and how I felt. It got imprinted in my memory. I got such a good experience that I don't want to re watch it out of fear to negatively influence how I feel about it. And now I watch story recaps probably to not forget. It's the only movie that I don't want to watch because it's it so good instead of bad.
***** 1) I am entitled to my own opinion 2) I am 18 years old 3) Is it everyones idea on the internet to call someone 12 years if they don't like what they say or don't agree with them ? -_-
My parents got me into Tarantino movies. They took me to see Django and ended up watching the Kill Bill movies with them on Netflix. Now I'm a huge fan of Tarantino.
I watched your review last night, so I decided to watch it last night, ended up staying up until 3:00am watching it, with work the next morning. Totally worth it. One of the most original movies I have ever seen. The content should make me offended, but it never does. I never said "Oh that just went too far." It was incredible!
People that hate mainstream things and want to be different. For example, say everyone loves the movie Pulp Fiction, a hipster would suddenly make themselves believe that they hate it because everyone else likes it. I am sure you get the drift.
legospongebrett A period of confusion followed by a new clique emerging, just like what went before. If Avril Lavigne can be called a punk rocker with a straight face, then the original meanings of 'punk' and 'rock' have clearly been lost.
So I just saw Pulp Fiction..and I think it's now one of my favorite movies, and I think it's actually a lot deeper than people tend to give it credit for. My favorite chapter would have to be either the Vincent Vega with Mersellus' Wife, it's prelude, or Epilogue:The Diner.(ii)
Its one of the best movies of all time. All the dialogue is quotable. Each chapter is great and the non chronological order actually makes the movie better and its not just a gimmick. Tarantino is great but this was his best and probably will always be
2:42 - Dang, I wish my high school was that cool. I'm in a video productions class and only like 2 other people have ever seen this movie. The 90s must've been a really cool decade to live in
I really don't get why the people like this movie that much, it's too boring. I know it was all that innovative and shit, but c'mon, what was the main plot?
boring? HA! no, how is anything in the movie boring? the characters are great, their actors are great, the dialogue itself is good, the plot? well if you're smart it's actually very simple to understand, it's different stories that eventually tie together, so no the film is not boring
thebigbadone1234 I think this is just a person trying to be above everyone else and try to be cool because he has a different opinion. You know how some people put really good movies on their worst movies list and no bad movies at all on them as if they've only watched good movies? Well, this might be one of those people. And if he's not, then good for him he has a different opinion. But he's part of the minority who don't like this masterpiece.
+thebigbadone1234 these are the reasons why pulp fiction is boring-as previously stated, there is NO plot whatsoever, it tries to be too stylistic and cute which can never take the place of a good plot, it has all these big name/some excellent actors (well...walken and kietel anyway) and every character is flat, one dimensional...boring, the dialogues are long winded and go nowhere. I saw bits of this movie over the years and decided to watch it from start to finish recently-could barely sit through the whole thing. this is either the worst movie of all time or the most overrated movie of all time or both.
Paul Woletsky No plot? hmm that's funny because when you clearly watch the film there is plot, 3 different plots to be exact so you're wrong. every character is one- dimensional and boring? haha you're clearly just trying to troll now. You gave no logical reasons as to why the film is boring or bad, you simply gave bullshit "reasons" to try and justify the other dude's opinions of the film, if it is so bad, it wouldn't be considered great or the classic that it is, you're dumb xD
JEREMY!! You need more spoiler FILLED reviews!! Especially for the older movies. The spoiler filled reviews are the best, they're deeper and more detailed
Favourite chapter is Mia and Vincent. I love how classy it all feels at the beginning when this tone is a direct contrast to the actions of the characters.
2deepy I don't get it. The action was great and suspensful to me...I mean at least Bruce Willis scenes had me on edge when he had to go back in his apartment and what not..
AirCanada1J5 I'm not saying the action was bad. And yeah, there are some moments like that where the action defines what's going on, but the scene where they talk about foot massages is meant to be dialog-driven. The idea is they aren't acting like normal hit men but once they go inside the apartment room to meet the guys who had the briefcase, they start acting like hit men.
+Moutassem Dayea you're right I jumped to conclusions too quickly I meant only that if you pay attention and really think about what you are watching you would likely enjoy it much more
i might consider rewatching it one day, for now i prefer Inglorious basterds over it, and i really think (in my opinion) that its the best movie of quentin tarentino ( i might have spelled the name wrong).
So on point... I saw this film in 1995 when I was 13 years old and the Marvin brain blowout scene made me laugh soooo hard I rewound it many times.. I even called my buddy and tried to make him hear what was happening while I was describing it... lol... I was a cinephile kid... grew up watching superman, terminator, Pinocchio, exorcist, predator, robocop, die hard....by the age of ten... but when I saw pulp... something broke in my brain and never saw film as just entertainment ever again
"I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance, anyone who attempts to poison and destroy my brothers, AND YOU WILL KNOW I AM THE LORD WHEN I LAY MY VENGEANCE UPON THEE!
Would love the hear you thoughts on Grindhouse (Death Proof/Plant Terror). The pairing of Tarantino and Rodriguez is a combination that never disappoints....
And I just noticed this the amount of foreshadowing in the last secne about Vincent’s death Samuel L Jackson’s diualouge about when people are neverous and then get scared people get shot butch was nervous and the toster popping scared him and he killed Vincent maybe I’m reading to much into it just how I saw it
Trust me..the kids these days in Japan who really study about different kinds of films..REALLY admire the brilliant work of Sir.Tarantino !! Even Quentin Tarantino loves the ideas of different, solid and unique foreign films out there..which becomes better than the Hollywood shit..these days.so he explore ideas..which just dont stay only in the Hollywood and for the dialogue thingy..i agreed with Jeremy most of it,so Great Hollywood Directors..like Quentin Tarantino,Nolan,Scorsese etc..are the director to look out for.Great review Jeremy !! 2 thumps up from Japan.
My favourites are still Kill Bill vol 1 and 2, though this was great. I should watch his other films to have a better outlook (I've only seen half of them).
the bonnie situation, the date between travolta and thurman told in real time is one of my favorite movie scenes. the jack rabbit slims set was fantastic looking, and the dance was perfect
"Oh shit, i shot Marvin in the face"
best part XD
Using oh shit makes it seem like he was surprised. He was more like "Aw, I shot Marvin in the face"
Mmm Thats a tasty burger
Why the fuck you do that for!?
SGTcrackey666 I didn’t mean to it was an accident!
While i was watching this movie all i was thinking at the end was should've listen to what jules was saying to u vincent. u might had a chance to live longer.
Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption & Forrest Gump all came out in the same year 1994. Dear 1994 you were definitely AWESOMETACULAR!
Yeah, 1994 and 1995 were two great years for movies.
Ueah
The Lion King too if you like that
If you talking 1995 you also mention Pixar's first film Toy Story? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
A few weeks ago I saw Forrest Gump for the first time and I was like is pulp fiction and shawshank redemption really going to be as great as this. And I probably prefer pulp fiction. So if shawshank redemption is anywhere near as good as these two movies I’m in for a fucking treat

He said his favorite Tarantino is pulp fiction but his second is kill bill he didn't say witch one though
you cant pick which Kill Bill you like, although theyre separate movies, you gotta like em both like theyre one movie

And The Usual Suspects
And scarface

I know it's confirmed to be true bit still
Eyerish .B the Vega brothers 😎
Tarantino and Kevin Smith are the best directors in the dialogue department. It's also cool because they are both friends!
Woody Allen and Wes Anderson?

what movies has kevin smith done? i havent really heard much about him

I saw bits of this movie over the years and decided to watch it from start to finish recently-could barely sit through the whole thing. this is either the worst movie of all time or the most overrated movie of all time or both.
Paul Woletsky Exactly!!!
Review Goodfellas!!!!!!!!!!
I don't get it. The movie was pretty boring imo. The only scene that was interesting to me was when Mia was brought back from her overdose
Its a cinematic masterpiece. Its not so much the action that matters, its the dialog.
The idea is they aren't acting like normal hit men but once they go inside the apartment room to meet the guys who had the briefcase, they start acting like hit men.
this movie is boring .. yes i said it, i couldn't even watch the entire thing.
Then you clearly are not a true movie fan
oh so according to you if you dont like a movie or if you didnt enjoy it then you are not a movie fan.? please explain yourself
+Moutassem Dayea pulp fiction was a boring movie but it none the less was exceptionally well written and I really enjoy the back end of movies
Love it when youtube recommends me a decade old video just to remind me well.. that its been a decade and now even more
I like how Kill Bill is cononically a sequel to Pulp Fiction
Grandfather's watch, while Clutch Cargo is rambling in the background; my favorite scene.
Mt favorite story in the film is " Vincent Vega and Marcellis Wallace's wife".
Totally agree, piecing this movie together was heaps of fun!!
"I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance, anyone who attempts to poison and destroy my brothers, AND YOU WILL KNOW I AM THE LORD WHEN I LAY MY VENGEANCE UPON THEE!
On my tombstone: "What, are you going to a volleyball game or something?"
Would love the hear you thoughts on Grindhouse (Death Proof/Plant Terror). The pairing of Tarantino and Rodriguez is a combination that never disappoints....
You should probably check out The Big Lebowski then, and possibly Dogma as well.
The Bonnie situation kept me glued to the screen, Harvey keitel is awesome
Mostly the dialogue
Can never stop watching any clips over and over and enjoy at the same time
And I just noticed this the amount of foreshadowing in the last secne about Vincent’s death Samuel L Jackson’s diualouge about when people are neverous and then get scared people get shot butch was nervous and the toster popping scared him and he killed Vincent maybe I’m reading to much into it just how I saw it
This movie has the best, most memorable, quotables of any movie ever. Every time I watch it I know most scenes line for line.
anybody know what's the book vincent was reading in the john?
The best chapter for me is Jules Monologue at Brett’s Apartment *shoots ‘flock a seagull’* “...Oh I’m sorry did I break your concentration?”
the bonnie situation, the date between travolta and thurman told in real time is one of my favorite movie scenes. the jack rabbit slims set was fantastic looking, and the dance was perfect
