I was just thinking this when he said that. I had to check when this video was made and was like oh yeah this must be before those “stupid cartoons” stopped being a LOT less stupid and his apprentice became one of the most popular characters in Star Wars.😂
yeah bit too early, and missed rouge one explaining the death stars weakness. I love how people hated the plot hole (Jeremy didnt really care) but then hated how they explained it
@@Jhowy-wu3mr Check your illusions at the door. "The Star Wars Holiday Special" is genius. Oh, sure, it'll cost you your immortal soul to watch, but it's genius. It's like the apple Adam and Eve famously snacked upon--a myth-destroying wake-up call. Once you see this, you'll never look at "Star Wars" the same way.😊
Dude I'm watching this almost nine years later and Jeremy has always just been himself. He is still the same guy but a little more professional these days. Been watching these videos since The Dark Knight!!
Of the originals, my favorite is actually Return of the Jedi. Yeah, it has flaws, but that confrontation on board the second Death Star more than makes up for it
And i beg that Disney will release the original versions of the original movies on Blu-ray, so that we can finally rid ourselves of the hated Special Editions
DragonHunter1 I'm sure Lucas put a clause in the purchase contract that says they have to keep the special edition changes. Even if he didn't, the changes probably appeal to kids in some way, which is Disney's primary focus.
I saw "Star Wars" when I was 11, in 1977. I remember when the Millenium Falcon flies in and saves Luke from Vader, the sold out audience cheered like mad. It was awesome.
I really think that's the target audience. I just watched Star wars for the first time this year as an adult.. and I was kinda disappointed.. it's fine I guess, but I think it's pretty over hyped. it feels like a parody of science fiction, very unserious and definitely targeted to very young children. It's a good story, I just didn't get a sense of epic scale or anything. It's definitely not for adults to watch by themselves or without kids to watch it with. But I understand if people watched it back in the day as a kid.. or maybe even an adult it must have been mind blowing as far as effects and such. I just don't see any scale or world building. It was pretty lacking.
My main gripe with Gredo shooting first is that George Lucas pretty much said that Han would be unredeemable if he had shot first. Well, how about Darth Vader then? This guy wiped out all the Jedi, destroyed planets and took over most of the galaxy and he ends up redeeming himself in the end.
Star Wars has a great message if you look at the overall story (yes including the prequels). To me the Star Wars films have always been about the theme of loss and how you handle it. Every character deals with it different. Starting with Qui Gon he doesn't want to lose the chosen one so he makes the perhaps impertinent decision of taking him on as an apprentice despite the councils wishes. Anakin fears the loss of his mother, wife power etc. which drives him to the dark side. The loss of the Jedi Order drives Obi Wan and Yoda to become hermits. Fast forward a few years Luke loses his old life and mentor which drive him to learn the force. Han fears losing those close to him which is why he is initially so stand offish. Leia loses her planet. And eventually the Emperor trying to take away Vader's son prompts him to kill the Emperor and redeem himself thus coming full circle. You can even see hints of this theme starting in the prequel. The true moral of Star Wars is that we all go through the hardship of loss and it sucks. However HOW you deal with it will determine whether you will go to the "light" side or "dark" side. That's all the force really seems to be. How you deal with your internal struggle.
I own the box set you showed. I pissed myself when I found out they had the original theatrical editions on them. The theatrical editions are so much better than CGI Mos Eisley junk.
Some of the special edition changes were good. I liked the added effects on the Death Star battle. But the CGI Mos Eisley, I agree with you completely, it was just distracting and over done. I found, not the box set, but the 3 individual DVDs from the 2006 release that include the theatrical editions, on Amazon. Thinking about buying them while I can because I don't know if it'll be worth Disney's while to enhance them and release them on blu ray or anything.
I finally found the theatrical versions on DVD, the individual ones after how many years of searching DVD stores for them, watched all three, yes they are undeniably better versions of the film but it annoyed slightly that they were only in a letterbox widescreen format and only 2.0 audio, is it the same with your DVDs?
Dinesh Rashid Yeah, it's a bit annoying. But I can get over it for how much better the production value is, and the joy of being able to see it as it was originally meant to be seen.
It pissed me off that he put in Greedo shooting first to try and *justify* Han shooting Greedo. Firstly, there's barely half a second of time in between the shots so unless you want to tell me Han has spider-sense they basically shot at the same time and Han just has a slightly slower trigger finger. Han shooting first not only proved his amoral credentials, it showed that he was savvy enough to know when he needed to defend himself. Plus saying that someone who shoots first couldn't be redeemed kind of undermines the supposed redemption of Vader at the end, after...what...three decades of mass genocides?
MeBeMat Apparently Greedo always shot first, but it wasn't very clear in the original version, so when he went back to make the Special Editions, he made it more clear that Greedo was the one that shot first. To ease the tension fans had with this, he made it so that they both shot at the same time in I think it was the Blu-Ray version.
MeBeMat not to mention it makes a mockery of Greedo's character. Is he seriously trying to tell us that a bounty hunter, even a lowly one, cannot hit one man sat about a foot away.
"he never had an apprentice, I don't care what those stupid cartoons say" Jeremy I must say that the clone wars cartoon is fantastic and 1,000 times better than the prequals
Chris Frye Maybe, but then again there were cheesy lines in the Original Trilogy. Besides one of the reasons I liked the show was because it actually made Anakin a likeble guy instead of a whinny pussy.
+John Barron It's my second favorite, but the light saber battle juxtapositioned with the attack on the second Death Star juxtapositioned with the Endor battle was pretty cool. But the Ewoks, oh the fucking Ewoks.
The epic duel between Luke and Vader and the battle over the Sarlaac are great parts, but the humor isn't there Han isn't much of a scoundrel and Leia isn't bitchy. I prefer the first two a little more.
+Grinddor The Clone Wars is a product of the prequels. The prequels are the lowest of low of trash. OF COURSE 'The Clone Wars' is good in comparison, but the entire set of lore is garbage that was shit out by GL in a senile fit of jealousy at other directors. The Clone Wars has a ceiling of 'greatness' because it was born from a piece of shit. I agree that the Clone wars is better than the prequels, but the entire time, we're standing over a toilet judging shit no matter what happens.
Agreed. And Ahsoka grew into a great character in her own right. Her decision to leave the Jedi was such a great character moment and showed her maturity at losing faith in the Jedi after what they put her through. Also, when she reappeared in Rebels I legit geeked out that she was back lol.
Grey Ghost 615 He made the first movie to start it all. None of this would be happening if it weren't for him. It's his universe and he's one of the most creative people on this planet.
Star Wars: Awesometacular Empire Strikes Back: I'll buy it on blu ray because it's Awesometacular(yeah it's that good) Return of the Jedi: Buy on blu ray Phantom Menace: You're not gonna remember it in t-minus 10 minutes Attack of the Clones: good time if you're drunk Revenge of the Sith: a surprising good time no alcohol required
I wouldn't say buy ROTJ on blu ray since Lucas fucked up the blu ray version of the OT. I agree with you on ROTS. I really liked that film. Don't get me wrong the OT is better, but ROTS was cool
Ehhh....in my opinion Phantom Menace- Good time, if you're drunk Attack of the Clones- Dogshit Revenge of the Sith- Good time, without alcohol surprisingly
Well, Disney is in the works of putting in a remastered, ORIGINAL version of the three movies. Basically better audio and picture, but no changes to the story.
+Frogknight All I see are rumors and speculation, as usual. I see no confirmation from Disney that they are bringing the original, unaltered versions to Blu-ray and DVD. Plus, the original trilogy isn't even the property of Disney's, so I don't see how this would even work. Fox owns the distribution rights to the original trilogy through 2020. In fact, I think A New Hope will forever be owned by Fox. So, yeah, this isn't happening any time soon, unless it's Fox that does the remastering and rerelease.
No theyre not. Fox still owns the distribution rights, the first one they own forever, the other two until 2020, and they do not want to go against George lucas wishes to not release it, so the only way well be getting them soon is if, Disney and Fox can come to an agreement whilst receiving George Lucas blessing, which will never happen. But hey, we have the Despecialized editions now lol takes some work to get but its totally worth it
Objectively, return of the Jedi was my favorite. I thought that it was a great conclusion to a great trilogy, and Luke finally matured and stopped complaining so much. Nostalgically, a new hope is my favorite. I watched that movie more than anything when I was a kid.
Seriously Jeremy, Star Wars The Clone Wars is a kickass tv show. The apprentice comment was not necessary. Btw, Han did not shoot first... Because Greedo never had a chance to shoot!
Agreed about Clone Wars. Ahsoka has one of the best arcs out of any SW character. She goes from a stubborn little girl to a fully capable powerful Jedi (or former Jedi) in Rebels. Awesome character.
+Kevin Marques Its because the prequels are such low trash that 'the clone wars' is 'average'. The prequels are shit, and the clone wars was made off of that Lore. They used the animated series to RET CON most of the bullshit in the prequels, of course its going to be better though. The fact remains is that 'the clone wars' is a piece of corn, in a corn filled shit. That's all, being better than the prequels doesn't make it award winning.
jRoldo A Last Name I didn't compare Clone Wars to the prequels. As its own thing, Clone Wars is a great addition to SW lore just like Rebels is. The problem with the prequels wasn't necessarily the story or characters. It's how they were executed that was the problem. Anakin in Clone Wars is much more interesting as a character than in the prequels and the writing and acting is great so it's much easier to get invested in this series and characters. Clone Wars is not just average only because the prequels weren't good. Clone Wars is great because it shows us how good the prequels could've been if Lucas actually respected his story and characters
Watching this video and knowing that Disney is finally releasing the original cut of star wars, but with better picture quality makes me extremely happy.
Robin Anwaldt I would expect this to depend strongly on your jurisdiction. I wouldn't be surprised if what you said is true in some countries but I'd be very surprised if it were true everywhere.

In this movie, I think the best character is Han Solo, the best character in Empire Strikes Back is Yoda, and the best character in Return of the Jedi is Darth Vader. Throughout the prequels, the best character is Obi-Wan. So much so that Belated Media thought that he should have been the main character in the prequels instead of Anakin.
my rating for each star wars movie/show phantom menace - 6.5 /10 attack of the clones - 6.5 /10 star wars tv show (2008-2014) - 8.5/10 star wars clone wars shorts ( 2003 -2005)- 10/10 revenge of the sith - 8/10 a new hope - 10/10 empire strikes back - 10/10 return of the jedi - 8.5/10

I actually kinda agree with you. The new trilogy has such a bad reputation, but that's only because of the original. However I would personally say if you're drunk for The Phantom Menace.
What is Star Wars to me? Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith The Original Trilogy Star Wars: The Clone Wars Star Wars: Clone Wars and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. PS: The 2003 series is much more than a stupid cartoon.
Brony Gamer It's already up there. I saw the show when it originally aired for the first four seasons but kinda didn't follow up as I was in college. Though just this year I've been catching up on the episodes, currently on "The Zillo Beast Strikes Back".
I'm pretty sure he was referring to the 2008 Clone Wars as the 'stupid cartoon', but the 2003 version. It's been a while since I saw the 2003 version, but I'm pretty sure he didn't have a padiwan in that one
Oh wow! You are really intelligent and quite awesome! You dislike the prequels except the 3rd?? that's because you see that everyone else says that so you are trying to be fucking cool by not liking them -"oh yeah the prequels suck hahaha I love the OT it was superb" screw that shit I love all the movies you goat
@@timn6484 Ten years on and you know what? I actually agree. I still love this movie and it was definitely revolutionary for it’s time, but it doesn’t actually have a whole lot of plot. The Empire Strikes Back is really a lot better though! But I‘ve been of the opinion that the best content has been the pre-Disney expanded universe for quite some time now. If you want world building watch the rest of the original trilogy and check out the thrawn trilogy books, that’s where it’s at!

@@timn6484 It‘s the Timothy Zahn novels, the graphic novels are an adaptation of them. Haven’t read those, so I don’t really know if they’re good or not! Normally I wouldn’t really be into audiobooks that are super produced like that, but it really works in this case!

The best Star Wars film in my opinion hands down is Star Wars Episode 6 Return of the Jedi. It’s so criminally underrated to me because people view it largely more for children because, of the Ewoks. However, if you look past that it’s actually an amazing conclusion to the original trilogy and imo it’s so much better than Empire strikes back (sorry guys I love it too, it’s just a bit overrated imo soz) it also actually makes me like Luke as a character, feeling his struggle against the pull and call of the Dark Side. It’s also beautiful characterisation between Luke and Vader. I just love it so much. This is my own opinion you may disagree and that’s okay. To each their own as they say xx
Sadly not :( The new blu ray sets are coming November and no unedited versions coming along with them. It turns out Fox still owns the distribution rights for the movies, and they do not want to go against George Lucas wishes of releasing the unaltered versions while hes alive. They own the distribution rights for Star Wars forever, since they fully financed it, while they own The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi rights until 2020. The only way we're getting the theatrical trilogy is if Fox and Disney can come to some sort of financial agreement whilst receiving George Lucas' blessing.
Wait a second, so if you can’t redeem a guy who “shoots first” then how the hell are you supposed to redeem an evil space wizard who helped in obliterating an entire planet??
Lucas says "I don't think you can redeem someone who shoots first" ROTS: Makes Anakin slaughter a bunch of small children without any remorse immediately after turning to the dark side.

Jeremy, thank you for this personal, analytical, intelligent and straight forward take on one of my favorite movie of all time. You make this girl proud and you treat this task well. "Your insight serves you well." BTW DFTBA
+jasonvideos5 He should not have to. Why bother wasting your time on crap? Honestly, I'm TRYING to watch it but I'm almost done with the 3rd season (because I promised myself I'd give this series a chance and I'm going to try and finish it before Episode VII comes out) and I HATE it AND myself for trying to do it! I've watched later episodes too after people like you say "the series gets better" and I say the cartoon STILL suck ass! The series was only created to create a character for the Star Wars universe whose very existence should be ripping the universe apart because what she is ultimately is a giant continuity hole! And of course sell toys and DVDs and attempt to keep star wars relevant and make George Lucas more money. And that's not COUNTING the number I've times I've counted the show giving the middle finger to both science, the VASTLY superior hand draw microseries which actually came out BETWEEN Episode II and Episode III (which I don't care that Lucasfilm says they're not canon, that was just to cover the fact they they fucked up by not forcing their writers to watch ALREADY ESTABLISHED MATERIAL; which speaking of), and it even gives blatant middle fingers TO THE ACTUAL MOVIES THEMSELVES!!! (One example I love pointing out: "best star pilot in the galaxy" HOW DO YOU FUCK THAT UP?!)Which, hey, guess which cartoon DOES NOT do that? The microseries. Now, this is NOT to say that there are not a few good episodes here and there but from my certain point of view they are few and far between and VASTLY outnumbered by giant piles of bantha poodoo! It's like for every good or decent or interesting episode they had to shit out 10 bad ones or something. Was there NO quality control? Was there nobody supervising the writer who actually knew their shit? WHY DOES THIS SERIES SUCK SO MUCH?! And how does this series actually have FANS, like you?! HOW?! Please enlighten me as to why if you can!
If they had the Jaba Scene when it was originally released, I would agree with you. However, 36 years later, we all already know what Jaba looks like, so that is one thing I like about the Re-Release of the films.
My order (everyone is doing it so...... yeah) 1) Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back (It was to hard to choose!!!) 2) Return of the Jedi 3) The Phantom Menace 4) Revenge of the Sith 5) Attack of the Clones Yeah I think the phantom menace is the best of the prequel (But seriously that isn't saying much). Why? Because I felt like it had more grit then episode 2 and 3. 2and 3 three were like 90% green screen effects, but the phantom menace actually felt somewhat believable.
Now that Disney owns Star Wars, and Lucas has noyhing to do with it, they should do a theatrical re-release of the original trilogy the way it was when originally released without the Lucas changes just before Episode 7 release
My explanation for why Lucas went off the deep end was cause some sadistic fuck went back in time and was basically whispering in his ear during the process of the movies
Return of the Jedi. The Jabba's palace part was memorable in large because of Luke. The Endor speeder-sequence was another highlight and seeing Luke being able to plant the seeds of doubt in Vader after he gave Luke so much mental anguish in the last movie was another cool part I didn't appreciate until watching the movies again after becoming an adult.
+Jeremy Jahns It kind of bugs me how biased you are, dude. Every "flaw" you can _possibly_ find with the prequels - in your mind - is unforgivable and enough to warrant the films as 'bad" because of it, but every flaw with the original trilogy is just ignored or glossed over by you. Like, "Nope - they get a pass. Because I want them to." While every little thing in the prequels is like, "Hah! Obi-Wan didn't say bless you when Anakin sneezed! These movies are SHIT!"
+War Machine First of all, Jeremy gave Revenge of the Sith a very favorable review. He gave it its due, and I think it's a good film as well. But the first two are catastrophically shit, and you can't expect the rest of humanity to pretend they aren't. Second, I'd like to understand you. When you listen to Anakin saying sand is coarse, irritating, and getting everywhere, or Padme saying "[I'm beautiful] only because I'm so in love", do you think "Holy shit this is so much better than the Battle of Hoth, or the duel on Bespin!"?
Gazorpazordfield II I'm not that big of a fan of Episode three and I'm not sure why so many people are - it's a great film in it's own right, but it has a lot of flaws and terrible acting due to poorly-written dialogue is one of them. Granted, terrible acting due to poorly-written dialogue is rampant throughout the entire series - blame Lucas - but everyone just gives the bad acting in the OT a pass because.... it's the OT. By the way, everyone takes the sand statement out of context; Padme had just told Anakin about how she and her friends used to swim out to the island the two were looking at and lay in the sand. Anakin responded with how much he hates sand - makes perfect sense when you come from Tatooine - and then remarked on how everything on Naboo is soft and smooth, making a move on Padme. The scene makes perfect sense. I grew up with the original trilogy and then with the prequels afterwards, but I honestly prefer the PT over the OT - at least, episodes one and two. My top 6: 1. Attack of the Clones 2. The Phantom Menace 3. The Empire Strikes Back 4. Revenge of the Sith 5. Return of the Jedi 6. A New Hope I honestly don't understand how _so many_ people just absolutely hate the PT - they're great films and are arguably better than the OT... well, except for TESB which is and in my top three. A wider cast of characters, more diverse places and landscapes, beautiful visuals, great action sequences, a moving plot, and lightsaber battles that are actually entertaining.
Gazorpazordfield II Now listen here, Morty... BURP... I'm really not trolling. I seriously do not get how you and so many others hate on the Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. Agree to disagree, I guess, but they're great films and aren't deserving of the hate they get.
He describes Episode II as "forced romance, bad dialogue". Now I know I'm in the extreme minority here, but I think that perfectly describes Episode IV. I don't know, just couldn't enjoy it at all.
Aidan Bedford When I saw A New Hope, that's what I hoped it was. An underdeveloped movie that would be fully fleshed out in its sequel, as everyone said it was. Yet, I couldn't even enjoy The Empire Strikes Back. All the relationships still felt forced, the dialogue still felt corny.
+Utkarsh Bansal I don't see how A New Hope is underdeveloped. It works very well as its own standalone film. If you view it as its own movie without the following two sequels, it would be an adventure film where a young boy goes from being an insignificant speck on the wasteland planet of Tatooine to the guy who does something huge by blowing up the Death Star. Pretty well developed. The Empire Strikes Back was even better. It made the franchise into more than just a space action-adventure series. It was a grand space opera, science-fantasy.

Mike H. buddy, theyre bad, its not that we want to be cool, its that we loved the originals and then George gave us the pequels and they werent good alone so compared to the ooriginal trilogy theyre terrible
I'm a true Star Wars fan and I don't really like the prequels. In fact, I think Attack of Clones is an absolutely terrible film. I think The Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith have their merits, but I still don't think they're all that great.
people please for the love of God can you not acknowledge how dated and mediocre these movies have become? Take off your nostalgia glasses please. I am not saying that you cant enjoy these movies but please stop shoving it in the face of the new generation.
Friendshipismagic Still bullshit. I wasn't doubting whether you had only seen them 3 years ago I was doubting that these movies are great movies. They are not. They are dated. The spaceships they use barely hold up, all of the animatronics and puppets they used look like animatronics and puppets instead of real aliens, the lightsabers in the first movie looks like shit and what little action they do have I can barely take seriously because the StormTroopers have unrealistically bad aiming.
Bob Feen According to Japanese reviewers (the film came out in Japanese theatres 2 months or so ago) the special effects were considered quite good, which is pretty cool considering it came out in the 1970's. Also, Leia says that the Stormtroopers on the Death Star let them go so they could find the rebel base.
@ 8:04 < I believe that will happen very soon, but Disney will have to make a deal with 20th Century Fox in order to get the rights to the original trilogy. However, there _has_ been talk amongst the fans of taking this to the Supreme Court as a matter of public record. The Library of Congress, to this day, has on file the original cut of the first trilogy that George Lucas has been trying to purchase the rights for years, but fortunately the District of Columbia isn't budging. The original _unaltered_ trilogy is a matter of public record and I truly believe we will someday have the original versions on our shelves as we did on VHS so many years ago :)
see? my point exactly. now how can anyone take a troll comment like that seriously enough to care? how can anyone get bothered by such a funny comment that makes you chuckle? thanks dude, you made my day (and proved my point)... Saw your comment in my e-mail and saw that it was referring to music so ultimately not remembering what commenting was going on on this video (thats how much I care, lol) I popped in to see what I missed. Keep up the good work.
I know you said you don't like the prequels but can you please review episode 3 Revenge of the Sith? In my opinion its the best Star Wars movie but Empire Strikes Back is a close 2nd for me.
4:52 Those ''stupid'' cartoons as you call them were better written and better developed then the entire Prequel Trilogy. Also his apprentice left the order and when he became Vader he chose to forget every single thing in his past life. It piss's me off how most Star Wars fans treat the Clone Wars show no better then Prequels. The Clone Wars exceeded in many way's where the Prequels failed to do. Truly one of the most underrated gems of the Star Wars franchise. Oh, and Jeremy sorry to break it to you, but those ''stupid'' cartoons are canon. Deal with it and move on.
It does seem like Grand Moff Tarkin is the only person other than the Emperor who has authority to give orders to Vader. I love this movie but the scene where Luke fired those shots into the opening has never made sense to me. I mean the shots bends to enter the opening. Did Luke guided them with the Force or something?
Favorite "Star Wars" will always be "Star Wars." It's the first, the one I recorded onto audio tapes at the drive-in when I went to see it with my parents back in 1977 and then listened to over and over... it's the movie that the local pizza place played every Friday night when we all went there in High School... It wasn't just an incredible movie, it's full of the memories of my friends and our excitement over such an unusual new film.
Grand Moff Tarkin is one of the most underrated Star Wars characters ever. Every time I think of like the highest ranking imperial officer, I think of him.
I did like that they added in the scene with Biggs before the Death Star fight. It was a little side thing that established his friendship with the character that made two comments Luke made about Biggs (Back on Tatooine and during the battle) make a little more sense.
Absolutely magnificent review. This is the film that made me fall in love with cinema when I was like 5 years old. It is really awesometacular the first way you see it, just like you said, without any previous knowing of anything and really let yourself get blown away. I really enjoyed your review. Personally enjoyed the prequels more than you did, but I can see why you wouldn't. :)
The prequel trilogy is a 'could have been better' series. My biggest gripe is the acting of Hayden Christensen. He wasn't bad. He simply failed to deliver an A class performance for such an important character.
Just another reason to love rogue one! They made the stupid porthole plot hole joke of the century, into an interesting plot device which not only enriches rogue one, but a new hope with it. And if you can make one of the best movies of all time even better.. then holy shit that is amazing
Best movie is undoubtedly Empire Strikes Back! Like you I'd love to see the original trilogy released the improved sound and picture quality. Many of the new additions that Lucas put in were trivial, gimmicky and unnecessary. The original way Star Wars was shot had a real serious vibe to it, especially Empire.
There is a part of me, coming back to this in 2023 after seeing Jeremy's Character Arc when it came to Star Wars under Disney's stranglehold how, if possible, he would redo his Star Wars reviews and take back things he's said like about The Clone Wars
I was 9 when I first saw it on a black and white TV set and even with that limitation I just loved it. It's like you say, even though the picture quality is bad, the bonus DVD just works the best. The worst parts of the special edition is the parts that's added to the films. Like the expanded entrance to mos eisley. We who've had the soundtrack knows the musical cue just doesn't belong there. And same goes for the Jabba scene- and Darth Vaders trip to his Star Destroyer in Empire.
"I don't care what those stupid cartoons say"
It's 2020 and Jeremy likes those "stupid cartoons" now AND Anakin's apprentice!😂
(Ironic- Palps Voice)
I was just thinking this when he said that. I had to check when this video was made and was like oh yeah this must be before those “stupid cartoons” stopped being a LOT less stupid and his apprentice became one of the most popular characters in Star Wars.😂
Thinking the same thing, he reviewed the final episodes!😂
yeah bit too early, and missed rouge one explaining the death stars weakness. I love how people hated the plot hole (Jeremy didnt really care) but then hated how they explained it

It's like the apple Adam and Eve famously snacked upon--a myth-destroying wake-up call. Once you see this, you'll never look at "Star Wars" the same way.😊
Han didn't shoot first. He is the only one who shot. Point blank.
The Tornado exactly!!!!
The Tornado Thank you for existing and writing this comment
They had us in the first half, I'm not gonna lie.
Exactly. And the prequels still suck. And the sequels are the worst thing ever.
P Ariza Oh boy you sure are a negative one lol.
I wish he made special editions of the prequels where all the younglings shoot Anakin first.
LOL
If you're a famous smuggler, you're not doing it right.
Kirby Warner GOT reference?
*Valar morghulis*
😂
This is so funny to watch after knowing that Jeremy has watched and loved The Clone Wars and hailed Ahsoka Tano a badass.
He's a hypocrite.
Or he didn't watch the clone wars when he made this video so he was ignorant wen he made this video. He just recently watched the clonewars series
OR a fan fan.
Sherlock Holmes He didn't watch the show when he made this review. At least not beyond the medicore first season.
Jeremy doesn't understand Star Wars.
Dude I'm watching this almost nine years later and Jeremy has always just been himself. He is still the same guy but a little more professional these days. Been watching these videos since The Dark Knight!!
Star wars is totally better with an extra CGI rock in front of R2-D2. The story makes sense now.
+The Shadow Master It's still pretty annoying though, especially since a) it looks fake, and b) it magically disappears.
🤣Boom!
Mookyyzed Haha, you never know that’s the point
Honestly brings the saga full circle
Sarcasm, tight.
Of the originals, my favorite is actually Return of the Jedi. Yeah, it has flaws, but that confrontation on board the second Death Star more than makes up for it
And the space battle bro! it's the largest space battle in the original trilogy:) I like it a lot
@@dragonhunter1315 You should watch the despecialized edition
I saw "Star Wars" when I was 11, in 1977. I remember when the Millenium Falcon flies in and saves Luke from Vader, the sold out audience cheered like mad. It was awesome.
To be a fly on that wall
Also killed children
Also killed children
Also when Ben sliced that guys hand in the bar scene.
spencer o'keeffe
No, he killed "younglings".
True, thanks for letting me know
It pissed me off that he put in Greedo shooting first to try and *justify* Han shooting Greedo.
+Cyberlord there has been proved that greedo was not thouhgt to shoot first, a revealed original script proves it
DMG el grande ok
+MeBeMat now the explanation that fans are giving is that Han is force sensitive
I don't call it "Star Wars: A New Hope" . . .
I call it "Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope", lol.
The Empire Strikes Back has got to be the best! :D
What's up Star Geek love your Chanel man!!!
Cooper Heywood Thanks so much! :D
***** Thanks! Great ideas. :D
Hey look I found Star Geek on a separate channel! Love your Vids!!
+Justin Woods Thank you!
Jeremy's change of attitude towards Ahsoka is..... Best character development ever
I actually like revenge of the sith. My opinion
I loved Revenge of The Sith.
a lot of people liked Revenge of the Sith.
Jordan Caws A lot of people liked the entirety of I, II, and III and they get shit for it.
***** 1 Good for them. But 1 and 2 are pretty shit! Especially 1.
Jordan Caws The Clone Wars made up for it all. I love the prequels as much as IV, V, and VI thanks to the clone Wars.
"he never had an apprentice, I don't care what those stupid cartoons say" Jeremy I must say that the clone wars cartoon is fantastic and 1,000 times better than the prequals
Chris Frye I know, I love both of those series
Chris Frye The CGI one was good. Really good actually.
Talon Owl yeah I agree, but so was the 2005 one, that was cool
Chris Frye Maybe, but then again there were cheesy lines in the Original Trilogy. Besides one of the reasons I liked the show was because it actually made Anakin a likeble guy instead of a whinny pussy.
JeremyJahns is stupid...
For me, Return of the Jedi has got to be my favourite Star Wars movie!
mine too its so awesome the final duel is the best i am a kid if you notice my language
Mine has got to be the empire strikes back
+Munkherdene Erdenebaatar Why are u stating that your a kid?
+John Barron It's my second favorite, but the light saber battle juxtapositioned with the attack on the second Death Star juxtapositioned with the Endor battle was pretty cool. But the Ewoks, oh the fucking Ewoks.
The epic duel between Luke and Vader and the battle over the Sarlaac are great parts, but the humor isn't there Han isn't much of a scoundrel and Leia isn't bitchy. I prefer the first two a little more.
Stupid cartoons? Jeremy, did you even watch the Clone Wars? It's the best thing that happened to Star Wars since Battlefront 2!
Alright it was good, but not Battlefront 2 levels of good,
+Grinddor The Clone Wars is a product of the prequels. I agree that the Clone wars is better than the prequels, but the entire time, we're standing over a toilet judging shit no matter what happens.
outdated? Maybe for a movie but for a tv show this is the best animation you'll probably ever see.
+Owen Buckner rebels gets better but when it started it was stupid
I can't believe I've been watching your channel for over 9 years. Props Jeremy, you've been crushing it for a decade of my life
The clone wars is not stupid. Some of the best Star Wars content out there in the later seasons and I even find it on par with the original trilogy
+Purplederple ^This...
Agreed. And Ahsoka grew into a great character in her own right. Her decision to leave the Jedi was such a great character moment and showed her maturity at losing faith in the Jedi after what they put her through. Also, when she reappeared in Rebels I legit geeked out that she was back lol.
Kevin I agree with you fully. Im not surprised Jeremy didn't give it a chance though as the first season wasn't GREAT.
+Kevin Marques Ahsoka Deserves her own Padawan.
What the fuck......????? Did you just say that what?.?.?.?.?.?:&;&;94&;.&&hskdejfjdjsdjbskwjrjdjdiijjrjxjsjdiduf
I have a feeling Disney & Fox won't release the original versions of the original trilogy until George Lucas dies.
Scsigs just download Harmys Despecialized it’s the original cut in HD drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/0BwNMwpjM0yn-X0phVTByNHBjdWc
Grey Ghost 615
He made the first movie to start it all. None of this would be happening if it weren't for him. It's his universe and he's one of the most creative people on this planet.
Star Wars: Awesometacular
Empire Strikes Back: I'll buy it on blu ray because it's Awesometacular(yeah it's that good)
Return of the Jedi: Buy on blu ray
Phantom Menace: You're not gonna remember it in t-minus 10 minutes
Attack of the Clones: good time if you're drunk
Revenge of the Sith: a surprising good time no alcohol required
I wouldn't say buy ROTJ on blu ray since Lucas fucked up the blu ray version of the OT. I agree with you on ROTS. I really liked that film. Don't get me wrong the OT is better, but ROTS was cool
Ehhh....in my opinion
Phantom Menace- Good time, if you're drunk
Attack of the Clones- Dogshit
Revenge of the Sith- Good time, without alcohol surprisingly
Brennan Cain How about this: Return of the Jedi - Buy it on VHS
***** amazon.. ebay....
***** lol i have the orignals on vhs .. i got em at a garage sale.........
Well, Disney is in the works of putting in a remastered, ORIGINAL version of the three movies. Basically better audio and picture, but no changes to the story.
***** No not really. That deal has been in the works since they bought it... but Fox still owns a share of it and they will never sell.
***** Just check their damn website!
+Jacob Sailer Is there a link?
+Frogknight All I see are rumors and speculation, as usual. I see no confirmation from Disney that they are bringing the original, unaltered versions to Blu-ray and DVD. Plus, the original trilogy isn't even the property of Disney's, so I don't see how this would even work. Fox owns the distribution rights to the original trilogy through 2020. In fact, I think A New Hope will forever be owned by Fox. So, yeah, this isn't happening any time soon, unless it's Fox that does the remastering and rerelease.
Not true thats been debunked, but hey we have the despecialized editions! Takes some work to get but its totally worth it
Rejoice my fellow Nerds! Disney is going to release the original trilogy in its theatrical cut on bluray!!!!
When exactly?
+Michaela Lee hey gave them the right disney owns star wars now but i didnt see anything about them being re released so idk bout that
ill check it out later
+Garrett Knisley When?
The _Star Wars Despecialized Edition_ is a thing. I'm not saying it's legal, I'm just saying it's a thing.
Best thing we've got until Team Negative1 finish their 35mm project.
Penny Lane Didn't know that,do now and I'm ever so greatful to you for that info.

So much so that Belated Media thought that he should have been the main character in the prequels instead of Anakin.

awesome, thank you for loving them as well.
my personal favourite moment in them was mace windu taking the army by himself.
My fave is episode 3 all day awesomeness of the originals with the special affects and video quality of the prequels!
Star Wars: Awesometacular
Empire Strikes Back: Awesometacular
Return of the Jedi: Awesometacular
Phantom Menace: Good time, no alcohol required
Attack of the Clones: Good time if you're drunk
Revenge of the Sith: Worth buying on Blu-Ray
I actually kinda agree with you. The new trilogy has such a bad reputation, but that's only because of the original. However I would personally say if you're drunk for The Phantom Menace.
Return of the Jedi is not awesometacular at all. Don't get brain washed. Revenge of the Sith is a better movie.
shwonsh I beg to differ guy. Star Wars is a classic with more of a memorable ending. Well in my opinion it's better than,"NOOOO!!!"
freepotatoez i kinda like the Phantom Menace, its might be cus i loved it so much as a kid when i saw it on the big screen
***** I liked all 3 as a kid. However, when I grew up I realized the movie was excruciating to watch.
The NES reference reminded me of what my wife said when she saw Star Wars for the first time.
"Save the princess? What is this, Super Mario Brothers?"
What is Star Wars to me?
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
The Original Trilogy
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Star Wars: Clone Wars
and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
PS: The 2003 series is much more than a stupid cartoon.
So if I may ask have you'd seen the CGI animated series of STAR WARS The Clone Wars?
Brony Gamer It's already up there. I saw the show when it originally aired for the first four seasons but kinda didn't follow up as I was in college. Though just this year I've been catching up on the episodes, currently on "The Zillo Beast Strikes Back".
I'm pretty sure he was referring to the 2008 Clone Wars as the 'stupid cartoon', but the 2003 version. It's been a while since I saw the 2003 version, but I'm pretty sure he didn't have a padiwan in that one
Chandler Mathis I know. Just that 2003 show was really underatted.

Even though I still love this movie, I do have to admit it doesn’t actually have much of a plot.
It was definitely revolutionary for it’s time, but not necessarily an amazing experience for modern audiences.
I would say that The Empire Strikes Back is much better though!
But honestly the best Star Wars content is found in the pre-Disney expanded universe.
Finish the original trilogy and then check out the thrawn trilogy novels as that honestly is where it’s at for me personally
(Andor is incredible though, even though it’s Disney Star Wars
@@timn6484 It‘s the Timothy Zahn novels, the graphic novels are an adaptation of them.
Haven’t read those, so I don’t really know if they’re good or not!
What I can tell you though is that the audiobooks are actually really good!
They’re read by Marc Thompson and have music and sound effects!
Normally I wouldn’t really be into audiobooks that are super produced like that, but it really works in this case!
Jeremy, thanks so much for helping me understand how to break stories down. Storytelling, characters, all that stuff. Learning a lot.

Jeremy's british accent is awesome :D
Hey Jeremy have you seen redlettermedia's prequel reviews? I think you'd really enjoy them.
he has, he even suggested the phantom menace one in his phantom menace review
May the 4th be with you all!
Disney is released the unedited versions of the old Star Wars on blu-ray this year :)
+AyVee Whelp, then we'll have to get them illegally...or watch them on Laserdisc like me. :)
I have the trilogy in avi format. Glad I have them.
+NexGenStriker The original UNALTERED trilogy is up on kickasstorrents, 2.63GB. Get it while it's still there.
Wait a second, so if you can’t redeem a guy who “shoots first” then how the hell are you supposed to redeem an evil space wizard who helped in obliterating an entire planet??
This is my favorite movie review you've ever done! This is my #1 favorite movie of all time!

"He (Darth Vader) never had an apprentice, I don't care what the stupid cartoons say," Best part!
Haha, no.
Jeremy, thank you for this personal, analytical, intelligent and straight forward take on one of my favorite movie of all time. You make this girl proud and you treat this task well. "Your insight serves you well." BTW DFTBA
"He never had an apprentice, I don't care what those stupid cartoons say"
Man, I liked said stupid cartoons. And I liked Ahsoka.
Am I wrong?
Not really. It was very good.
Clone wars is awesome
No, you're watching a video with someone giving their opinion on something. Doesn't make anyone right or wrong.
+ItsSomeDeadGuy You are right!
Han never shot first. Han just shot.
1:25 Until we met his master in Return of the Jedi.
Saw Star Wars for the 114th time yesterday. And yeah, the original Star Wars really is awesometacular.
Do you think you can recite the entire movie by heart?
Maybe. Most of it anyway. :)
Stupid Cartoon! Haha. Flashforward 2016 Jeremy totally loves the catoons!
If they had the Jaba Scene when it was originally released, I would agree with you. However, 36 years later, we all already know what Jaba looks like, so that is one thing I like about the Re-Release of the films.
Episode II Attack Of The Clones, there I said it, it´s my favorite part.
How old are you?
Michael Daniels I might be in my 10's or in my 30's
Hey I liked those cartoons. They were actually better than the prequel movies.
4disndat2unme yeah not that hard
My order (everyone is doing it so...... yeah)
1) Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back (It was to hard to choose!!!)
2) Return of the Jedi
3) The Phantom Menace
4) Revenge of the Sith
5) Attack of the Clones
Yeah I think the phantom menace is the best of the prequel (But seriously that isn't saying much).
Yeah it will be like when real coke came back to replace that New Coke :).
I liked all 6 lol....2 was the weakest of them I think
5:22 it now does make sense because of Rogue One
My explanation for why Lucas went off the deep end was cause some sadistic fuck went back in time and was basically whispering in his ear during the process of the movies
The senate didn't need to approve of jack shit, it was dissolved.
Episode I I hated
Episode II good
Episode III awesometacluar
Gazorpazordfield II
I'm not that big of a fan of Episode three and I'm not sure why so many people are - it's a great film in it's own right, but it has a lot of flaws and terrible acting due to poorly-written dialogue is one of them.
My top 6:
1. Attack of the Clones
2. The Phantom Menace
3. The Empire Strikes Back
4. Revenge of the Sith
5. Return of the Jedi
6. A New Hope
I honestly don't understand how _so many_ people just absolutely hate the PT - they're great films and are arguably better than the OT... well, except for TESB which is and in my top three. A wider cast of characters, more diverse places and landscapes, beautiful visuals, great action sequences, a moving plot, and lightsaber battles that are actually entertaining.
Gazorpazordfield II
Now listen here, Morty... BURP... I'm really not trolling.
I seriously do not get how you and so many others hate on the Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. Agree to disagree, I guess, but they're great films and aren't deserving of the hate they get.
Bruuuuuhhhhh, pls just stop existing
+War Machine They deserve all the hate they get. Enjoy what you enjoy though I have no problem with that.
who came back from his TROS review?
look at him our sweet summer child hopefull and all, jeremy they've crushed it.
The movie or his hope?
He describes Episode II as "forced romance, bad dialogue". Now I know I'm in the extreme minority here, but I think that perfectly describes Episode IV. I don't know, just couldn't enjoy it at all.
There was romance in 4?
Well, I meant the whole Han-Leia arc in IV-V just annoyed me.
+Utkarsh Bansal IKR. I honestly didn't like a new hope too much. I mean it was good. But it felt underdeveloped.
Star wars:awesometacular
Star wars empire strikes back:awesometacular
Star wars return of the jedi:awesometacular
Star wars phantom menace:forget in t minus 2 minutes

personal opinion
Shut the hell up...people think they are 'cool' if they hate prequels! You're not awesome at all...truthfully bandwagoners suck
Mike H.
It´s not cool and the prequels DO suck!!
Mike H. please read the final 2 words
Mike H. buddy, theyre bad, its not that we want to be cool, its that we loved the originals and then George gave us the pequels and they werent good alone so compared to the ooriginal trilogy theyre terrible
Hey Jeremy just wanted to say, love your videos man keep doing you
i like both the prequels and the original trilogy because i am a TRUE Star Wars fan
same here brother
I'm a true Star Wars fan and I don't really like the prequels. In fact, I think Attack of Clones is an absolutely terrible film. I think The Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith have their merits, but I still don't think they're all that great.
Liking everything blindly doesn't make you a "true fan". A "true fan" admits when something has problems.
tell me one thing that was good about the prequels?
***** There was nothing intense about the fights. acrobatic fakeness
people please for the love of God can you not acknowledge how dated and mediocre these movies have become? Take off your nostalgia glasses please. I am not saying that you cant enjoy these movies but please stop shoving it in the face of the new generation.
That's utter nonsense. I saw these films for the first time only a few years ago and they were excellent.
Friendshipismagic Bullshit.
Bob Feen
Ummm...no. I'm 17 and I watched it when I was 13...
Bob Feen
According to Japanese reviewers (the film came out in Japanese theatres 2 months or so ago) the special effects were considered quite good, which is pretty cool considering it came out in the 1970's.
Also, Leia says that the Stormtroopers on the Death Star let them go so they could find the rebel base.
I actually have that ONE DVD with the originals. I have no idea where my dad found these things, but I'm glad he did.
Connor Veenstra I’ll pay you $10000
People are going to hate me but; The phantom menace is my favourite star wars movie
The only good think in my opinion is the end fight with Darth maul. Give us one or two fights. Not four fights.
It's the best of the prequels.
Swear to God, everything you just said here is golden. On the mark, this is one of your best reviews. You were on a roll!
I like how you used the Death Star II explosion.
Star Wars was for sure a revolutionary film that has inspired many filmmakers and me to get in the industry as well!!!
see? my point exactly. now how can anyone take a troll comment like that seriously enough to care? how can anyone get bothered by such a funny comment that makes you chuckle? thanks dude, you made my day (and proved my point)...
Underrated? The show has so much attention that so many people want the new show Rebels cancelled, and The Clone Wars back.
+50PSP Animation Channel But there are still trollers out there that say it was shit.
Can't believe this video has 8 years now
It does seem like Grand Moff Tarkin is the only person other than the Emperor who has authority to give orders to Vader. I love this movie but the scene where Luke fired those shots into the opening has never made sense to me. I mean the shots bends to enter the opening. Did Luke guided them with the Force or something?
The growth i see watching this again is tremendous
Rewatching all of your star wars review because I'm just so Damn excited about the new trailer!
Damn, I could watch your reviews all night long.
4:50 you didn't like The Clone Wars CGI triology? Nor the first Force Unleased game?
The prequel trilogy is a 'could have been better' series. My biggest gripe is the acting of Hayden Christensen. He wasn't bad. He simply failed to deliver an A class performance for such an important character.
'And props to Han Solo for shooting first cause he does'
😂😂awesome👏
Why is Jeremy obsessed with the number 151 ? (7:38 and others)
