Me before:crying to make the first stitch of the jasmine design. Me now:crocheting a jasmine stitch blanket, and crocheting smoothly. You don't know how much your tutorials have helped me. Thanks so much❤❤❤
I've tried this about 15 times and I cannot Master holding that piece of yarn and pulling the other through without it all snagging and falling apart I hope this helps
I am going to crochet a blanket now. Is it a roule for how many you should do to be sure that everything ads up? 50 og 51 if you know what I mean. I'm from Norway 😊
You wouldn't believe how grateful I am for the tutorial. I've been crocheting for about 10 years now, but I was never successful with the stitch. But here you are breaking the structure down for us to learn and giving us so many tips. I made myself a gorgeous tea coaster and I couldn't thank you enough😊
Thank you for this. I've been crocheting for 35 years, encountered this beautiful stitch and tried 3 previous tutorials which were not enough to get me going with it properly. You correct all the various mistakes I was making. I wish I had watched your video first. Thank you!!!
I found a version of this on Instagram and wanted to copy but the other tutorials didn't show the way to do it without extra holes, so thanks for this, I understood it really easily and have begun my winter blanket!
Hey! There is one inconsistency in the video. When you start Jasmine stitch, if tou pull 3 loops through the sc, then there are 20 loops on the hook - not 24. When you pull 3 stitches through 2nd and 3rd loop, they indeed form 6 loops, not 8. So it is 8+6+6. To solve this, we either need to pull 4 times through the 2nd and 3rd loop, or just crochet together this 20 stiches. It also works, but the "vertical leaves" look a little bit less fluffy than the horizontal once
Actually I think if you follow the tutorial exactly, yarning over & pulling up a loop 3 times in each jasmine stitch "eye" a total of 3 times, you end up having 19 loops on the hook. 7 + 6 + 6. This 24-stitch error is repeated throughout various other tutorials as well. I suspect one person said it wrong in their video, and everyone else copied it. Or I'm missing something!
I correct by pulling through four times, this brings me up to the 24 loops and makes each "Petal" the same size of being eight loops. Plus I like the fuller, fluffier petals.
Thank you so much! I have wanted to learn this stitch so much. I've watched tutorials and just couldn't catch on. With your instruction, I finally got it! You have no idea how happy this makes me 🥰
Your tutorial was great! The pattern I bought has lots of pictures but no video. Your video is so helpful! The only difference is for the pattern I’m using it’s only 5 loops for the clusters and 3 for the flowers. This is going to take some practice before I can make the actual project but this w video will help a lot! Thank you 😊
This is such a helpful tutorial! Thanks for explaining everything so well. Do you have any tips for finishing off a piece with this stitch? Do you have to do anything different for a final row?
If it's tricky holding the yarn back you can use a stitch marker instead. I hold it until I've pulled through some of the loops, slip the stitch marker around it and then sc/sl into it before removing it (if I'm using a difficult yarn or on my first row, I don't always bother). Definitely helps when using dark or fuzzy yarns! You can also just clip on a few stitch markers to your working yarn and when you need one just slide it up and pull through normally without holding. It only takes a few seconds to do and beats having to redo it. I also think it looks better and there is less of a hole, as you can pull it a bit tighter!
I make dish- and wash rags with this stitch! It's so fluffy and thick, it absorbs the water perfectly! Let's hope my sides don't look all wonky with this tutorial!
Thank you! I'm following a pattern in a bookazine that uses this stitch but the instructions in there are dire to say the least. I'd got holes everywhere, the petals didn't look like petals at all, terrible. But now I'm following your tutorial it's looking so much better! No holes, petals are petal shaped, thank you! 💕
Wonderful tutorial! One question - for each “petal”, shouldn’t you insert into each eye four times (except for the first one)? It looks like when you do it three times you end up with 6 loops instead of 7+ the yarn over, which then doesn’t add up to 24. I’m very bad with this kind of thing so i might be doing some kind of non-math math 😂
Thank you for this! I've been struggling to get it to work by just reading the written pattern, but your right, the video helped. I can't wait to finish my project now. 😊
I don’t normally comment on videos but I’ve been trying to learn this stitch and just could not get figure out how to not get those holes in the center of my flowers 😭😭 thanks to your tips they finally look how I want. Thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰
I need to watch this again and use a thicker yarn. I was using baby yarn and an H hook which was way too big! One thing I didn't understand is how you get 24 stitches on the hook when originally you said we should have 7 loops per puff. I'm guessing it's because we yarn over again before we start each puff piece? Is that where the 8th loop comes from? Otherwise I have to do 4 loops through each single stich to get 24 loops altogether. I will keep rewatching to see if I can clear it up. My only other question is do you really "turn" the original row of puffs over or stay on the same side and just go back into the single crochets holes without actually turning the row and working from the "wrong side" or maybe it doesn't even matter? I will keep rewatching to see if I can understand it better. Thanks for your great videos! You are much better at explaining things. I'm just 71 yrs old and slower at understanding than I used to be about these things.
😃👍🏼 Excellent video! I love your tips. To me, the thumb holding the loops is going to be my focus. I really like the closed look. Thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve been wanting to make a couple of mini sofa pillows for decoration and this is the stitch I want. Exciting.
Hello, I have a problem, I saw your tutorial, and I felt in love with the jasmin stich. I have already started my blancket since a while but the form of it is round, I dont manage to have a nice rectangular.
Is it possible for the jasmines to have 6 pedals or is it always going to be 5 pedals for each Jasmine? Btw, your tutorial is way better than the ones I’ve previously watched. So much, that I finally made my very first. Yay!! So, thank you!!
Thank you for this clear and easy tutorial. You just rescued a destroyed purse that I now know how to remake successfully 😂 Where can I show you when it's finished?
Hello! This is such a helpful tutorial! Do recommend as a starting amount on puffs a multiple of 3+1 or a multiple of 2+1? I want to crochet a headband. 😊
Hi Lisa, cast on 3+1 cuz I made a 10 inch round shaped storage basket, starting with 117 Camel stitches all around the basket walls or waistcoast Stitch or any stitch you like. The main thing is that jasmine Stitch is multiple of 3. Have fun with Your hair accessory project!
I have been crocheting for nearly 30 years ( I started at 7yo) and I had never heard of such a stitch! I want to try it immediately! A few questions: What is the yield like generally? I know it'll depend on the loop length, but I'd like to know a general yield; I've seen another tut that only yo twice, where you do it three times. Is that just to make the puffs... puffier? Thanks in advance!
Yeah, it is such a beautiful stitch! I’m not exactly sure what you mean by yield, but yes - the stitches will be puffier depending on how many YO you do. It works either way but it is more “filled out” when you do it 3 times. It may depend on the yarn too.
@@DesertBlossomCrafts I’m speaking in baking terms, sorry. I meant how many inches of jasmines would a skein of the RedHeart yarn get me? Like, a block that’s 12”x12”? 6”x12”? So on and so forth.
@@melyssaferguson7527 Lol, no problem. That makes sense. But honestly, I haven’t figured out the math for that. If you make a swatch and weigh your skein of yarn before & after you make it, you could get a better idea. I do know, however, that this stitch takes up a lot more yarn than regular stitches like dc and sc.
Hey, I was looking to learn jasmine stitch for making a scarf with double crochet as the base and a single row of jasmine stitch. Could you please help if the foundation is not a puff stitch how should I proceed
I do a puff, skip a stitch, repeat till the end of the row. Then to transition back to double crochet, place a stitch between the puffs, and in the middle of the puffs to even put your stitch count again
@taylormalonson4220 Heyy, thanks for replying! That could work, if I was starting with the jasmine stitch. But I wanted the jasmine stitch row to be between the double crochet rows. Eg. three double crochet rows then jasmine stitch row then two double crochet rows. Any idea if that could work?
I know I’m late but here’s my advice: Personally, I would do a magic knot. There are tons of tutorials for it here on UA-cam. It’s a way of knotting the two yarns together without any ends to deal with. You can also do a square knot which is quicker but less secure. Hope this helps! ❤
great tutorial and beautiful stitch. but my god it will eat up a lot of yarn, no? or is it the same as if you're using a double crochet pattern? hmmm. either way, I'm so using this

If it's tricky holding the yarn back you can use a stitch marker instead.
