I don't understand, are these engines really so weak ? There was 1.9 B5 passat that you could drive like a maniac with only 66kw engine... Why is everyone says that this engine is so weak ? Im planing to buy one with 1.6 tdi , i will drive to works 100 km/h constantly, other driving will be only in city, so i thinks this car will be perfect for me, im not a fast speed driver.... I had a BMW and always drove it slow, because of it i had a lot of problems with this car... What do you think , will this car with 1.6 engine will be perfectly suited for me ? And is it that weak so i should search for 2.0 diesel ? By the way the review is perfect, i like it that you reviewed it in 2 languages ! Keep it up!
1.6 TDI in this car is too weak/slow, not power at all, in my opinion. As I said over 150.000 miles you will need to exchange injectors. Thanks for comment, and maybe try to find 2.0 which will be had more bhp.
I would absolutely recommend you to buy a 2.0 TDI 140/170/177hp and not the 1.6. The 1.6 is more prone to injector failure, and if you choose to buy the car with a DSG gearbox, you get the 6 speed WET clutch with the 2.0, and the 7 speed DRY clutch with the 1.6, which is also much more prone to failure. Just try them both, the 2.0 is just a much more refined engine with much more power/torque, even if on paper 105hp vs 140hp does not seems much, it is.
@@FiveInline84so i’ve bought this car with 1.6 , and had it for a year, sold it because of injectors failure, had problems in the winter when car couldn’t drive normally when pressing a gas pedal…

Some say, that you don't know life if you never owned VW Passeratti diesel.
Also, TDI stands for: The Devil Inside.
Something about it 😉
