wish i seen this sooner. just spent 20+ million to lvl up Q0-77 and another droid. i sure prices are changed now but still i bet i saved half my money doing 3 droids running over 60 mil total...
fastest is a whole different story but if you want cheapest - it takes for - eva but you start by buying like 200 level 1 green ones and getting the companion to 15 before using the purples - it costs nothing and if you look at the chart it gives better increase per cost then anything until it doesnt give as much past 15 - i just keep them in my baga and every time i have to wait for something i start giving them
It looks like the gifts have changed a little depending on which companion you choose. Required amount of gift I believe now is sitting around 480. 380 I think if you get a beast handler license but I will have to confirm that.
This doesn't have to be endgame you level your companion by doing missions and everything in the game. The gifts just come once you make money or jawa scrap. It can be done at level 10 if you have the items.

Wow purple maintenance are 13k each now wtf. Im leveling using the blue Routine Maintenance gifts. 3k each right now
If you are leveling a droid you can use cartel bazaar items from the Jawas. Armor maintenance gift is only a few purple Jawa scrap.

I did one last week and thought it was around 800-900 jawa scrap and it does depend on the companion some gifts are cheaper then others on gtn
380 is the number of gifts you'll have to give one companion to get him to level 50, not the cost :)
