- The Normal Car Cup is a tournament in Gran Turismo 1 where you can only use stock cars without any tuning. It is one of the hardest tournaments to win in the game (if not the hardest) because one of the AI opponents is using the Honda/Acura NSX Type S Zero, which is one of the best stock cars in the game. In this video I am challenging it with the rare Toyota TRD 3000GT that I won for getting all the A license gold medals. Another one of the AI opponents in this event also uses the TRD and he always loses against the superior NSX but maybe with me as the driver a TRD can now finally win here. :)

There are two possible prize cars for this event: Subaru Impreza and Toyota Supra. Both are special versions in colors that can not be found at the dealer.
If you have trouble with winning this event, then you can just use the NSX Type S Zero yourself. This is how I first beat it myself and the existing track records that you can see were also done with that. The cars from TVR and the Dodge Viper (both versions) are said to be good for this event as well.

I'll always love the stock Supra sound in GT1. It's definitely not near what an original real-life Supra sounds like but this one sounds like an opera singer.
It was basically a stock supra widebody like the trd race version so it had better handling/downforce than a regular supra but no real power advantage. This made it faster in corners than a regular supra

@@jorgenitales412 no. The trueno has no widebody. You can drive it more aggressively through the corners and go quick, but that has nothing to do with the cars aerodynamic and mechanical build.
The Vipers made mince meat out of the JDM cars. It is the easy way out though.
Other good picks are the TVR Cerbera (arguably the best stock car due to its light weight and nimble cornering), TVR Griffith (both variants), '96 Corvette (both versions), or any JDM car that had a good power to weight ratio.
Did you know that this cup is known as the "Polyphony Digital X cup" in later GT titles. In GT3, the Viper is also the best pick for that particular cup.

Ha, funny how that NSX slammed into the wall during the last race. But he fought you tooth and nail. Definitely a nasty.
Using '92 NSX Type-R was a good challenge as well in this cup. Now I even won the Normal Car Cup using Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, the only stage I wasn't able to win with it was Special Stage Route 11.
Good car is forever NSX, super car Japoneses.

Oh God. I have never been able to get the 3000gt. Btw in this contest I always used the Type S zero NSX, but it was definitely the hardest to win!!
Still remember the turbo cup and that crazy mitsubishi GTO.
Did you know that the fastest car in the first GT was actually the '95 Supra.
However, during the betas, the GTO had to be nerfed due to it hitting takeoff speed on long straights. This is why it is so difficult to tune the gears on it.
Gran Turismo 1 is a much better racing game than the new racing games!
Another challenge is doing this championship with the Impreza Coupe Type R. It can be done, but one would need to bring their A-Game and then some.
Seeing the car list and it's strange to know that these cars were new or practically knew when I was playing gt1 Classics!
Man, I could never win this car no matter how hard I tried. A-5 was just too damn unforgiving....... And then in GT2 it is easy as hell to win since it's just a prize car for a special race. Irony......
Yeah right now I was thinking this Nsx is so senseless, how 276hp cars can beat 291, because the opponent also use Trd 3000. And sometimes they replace the Trd 3000 with TVR griffith and he still become number 1
Fun challenge. I'm curious if you've beaten the Zero with clean runs and/or if you've beaten it with an even worse power/weight ratio car, I might have to try this out.
I have. From experience, I've done it also with a Corvette Grand Sport which has more power but also more weight and the handling is worse than any of the competitors in this series, also the gearing is long.
can you explain why did you, skipped all the qualify rounds? I guess it's a waste of time? since you've to perform flawless driving. I feel like an idiot for trying so hard to win the PP bcuz extra money.
also screw them AI, if you're too far behind, they drive like a pro. once you get 1st place and a little distance then all of them became noob.

NSX is fuckin fast, I hold up with 3000 GT but at the end I lost in the last corner of the last race... unlucky...

If you don't mind cheating, you can also use the arcade-only Corvette '67 which is very good when stock. But the Viper RT/10 (slightly lighter than GTS) is still superior.

Not at all. As people mention Nismo 400R and Cerbera are easy to win with. Type S Zero (maybe even Type S) and '92 Type-R gives a fair battle. I've done it with Corvette Grand Sport several times. 3000GT is a bit challenging yet it handles really good. I even tried with R32 Skyline GT-R Nismo and was able to win the 1st race yet it lacks power on the straights so I couldn't finish the series 1st but I might try it again because there were driving errors I can improve. I love the challenge so I'm curious how well R32 Skyline GT-R V-Spec or V-Spec II could do, also GTO MR, R33 Skyline V-Spec and Impreza WRX-STi Type R. The thing about these cars is that if you qualify 1st or 2nd, I think it's possible to do that. I will definitely try.
TVRs and Impreza (though the Impreza needs superior skills to catch up the NSX) also can do
How much HP could we put on this car? How much better than a supra turbo? As far as I remember, you could put around 930hp on a supra turbo
The hardest Cup in game hands down. That NSX was too fast. (Never got the 3000gt sadly)
Normal car and hard-tuned car are hard as hell
Nsx is the hardest opponent in this race without the viper.
Now, dont know why i'm struggling to complete the Hard Tuned event
Maybe use something fast like the GTO Twin Turbo or R33 with the highest level turbo possible and put all parts other than the race mods.
Will try to finish that event after finishing the IA license later - I had a hard time controlling the 900+ beast that is the R33 with a lack of handling mods (only used semi racing suspension and maybe a set of soft racing tyres) to beat the US vs Japan Cup to get the Viper GTS-R and enough money to race mod the R33 to use the car in other events other than the Tuned Cup. At least that Viper was pretty usable to beat Megaspeed Cup despite lacking the HP (well, it's a race model after all).

It's the reward car for getting all gold medals in the A license.
But at least no gt40 in this game
Not the hardest race. Just dump a Viper in there. Problem solved.
