  • Nordic cross skating is like XC skiing on wheels. In this video I demonstrate some different styles of cross skating, showing the versatility of these skates. Disclaimer: I am a beginner, so this is not a tutorial or instruction video. Purpose is just to show the capabilities of these skates.

    Warm-hearted and deep thanks for this excellent video. It was pure therapy for me, because I am just mourning and crying because of soon-ending winter time here in Southern Finland. Snow fields are smelting here and XC winter ski time is soon over, but now, after this film, this kind of skating is perhaps a chance to survive ove summer ;=))

      Thanks for your kind words! I share your sadness. I went xc skiing for the first time this year and loved it. Cross skating is a great alternative so I’m glad that it might inspire you to give it a try!

      @@outdoorsports6768 Thanks for rapid response! And above, I forgot to mention that the possibility to utilize both classic and skating style on same wheel skates/skis really surprised me! Until now, I have thought that one has to own two pairs of wheel skates/skis to achieve that. And finally, the most fascinating thing in your video is that it shows entry-level hobbyist doing basic movements, which is rarely seen, because YT is full of top experts showing amazing tricks in all kind of sport. So other summer-ski beginners, like me, can easily identify him/herselves with You.

    Thanks for your great videos. I have these and the V7 and am on my first season. You are doing well and have good flow even on forest ground. I haven’t done much riding on loose ground yet living in central London. Keep it up!

      Thanks! I bought them a few years ago, however I didn’t use them much because of other interests (long distance triathlons). But since the COVID pandemic I had to find a new challenge as triathlon races were cancelled
      It’s really a lot of fun! Ah London! You might try Box Hill😄

    Nice forest paths with no roots or boulders ;)

    What a beautiful forest with nice paths. If they're narrow, the classic style and double poling technique are very helpful. Thanks for your effort of filming, which certainly added some extra miles to your route, because you don't have a third hand for carrying a selfie stick :D

    Excellent video. Thanks for posting. Do you sometimes feel the wheels on your skikes are two small at times ? I ask cos I'm torn between getting 6" or 8" wheels. There's a big difference in price so I'd go for 6" wheels if I thought they would work ok. I would be going on similar trails as you in this video.

    • @outdoorsports6768
      @outdoorsports6768  2 роки тому

      Thanks for your comment! I recently bought the V9 which have 8” wheels
      They are more stable especially on rough and loose terrain. So if you haven’t decided yet I would recommend the 8” over the 6”
      However the 6” wheels still work though
      If the trails are hard packed gravel or asphalt you’ll be fine!

    Is there a locking mechanism that you engage when you switch from classical to skating style to prevent the heel lift?

    • @outdoorsports6768
      @outdoorsports6768  11 місяців тому +2

      Yes there is. However, these Skikes are well designed that they switch automatically between both styles so you don’t have to lock the heel lift mechanism

    Hi, how long should the poles be?

    • @outdoorsports6768
      @outdoorsports6768  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching and your question!
      As a rule of thumb poles should be around 0.9x body height when executing skate style and .85 x body height when doing classic style. However I prefer them a little shorter
