1.5 years later: has he gotten anywhere with his movement?? ...probably not.
The young man is intellectually impressive and seems remarkably grounded. I was similarly impressed the last time he appeared on the show.
He had to give these answers like a 100 times, he is just used to it now. Its like that for all the ppl that get "fame" for a short time, they have to give interviews time and time and time again, so you just say the same stuff again and again.
He is so used to the routine that he even slipped in his book promotion like "i talk about this in my book, buy it", like EVERY other guy in these shows does when they are there because they wrote a book.
Everything he said you could have googled in a 2min window, no problem, there was no special knowledge involved at all. Maybe his book is more in depth, but i doubt its more then a summary of well known facts from other books, because at 17 i doubt he did new studies or finance new sience.
He is in the show because he is 17, thats it for his credentials.

This young man is so articulate and intelligent with delivery of his message. He has a clear mentality of reason and analysis. He is wise beyond his years! There is no hint of Rage, which most creators of movements used as a fuel to further their aims. He is refreshing! He is a true leader. Not like the village idiot that is running this country. The Republicans, Democrats, could take a lesson from this young man.

I've been mostly vegan since 17 (when I left the pig farm) and I just turned 50. I can't even remember the last time I was sick, my skin is remarkable and people think I'm 30. I also have more energy than most chubby 22 year olds. I do eat the occasional piece of fish, and I eat some cheese, as long as it is produced in a country that doesn't shoot their animals full of hormones and antibiotics (so, not USA). When people say they could never give up meat, I have to laugh at how gigantically obese they usually are. We have some serious losers in America that still actually believe "We are #1." Live abroad and get back to me.

There are plenty of young people who have all kinds of terrible life-altering health problems that aren't their fault and that no one ever thought they would have. It can happen to anyone at any time. Those are the people we need to hear from in the healthcare reform debate. People of all ages absolutely needs to worry about healthcare. This ridiculous attitude that Americans have, that going to the doctor is some kind of novelty that's only for gross old farts and that people actually want to do so are hypochondriacs, is a big part of the problem and it needs to be dispelled. What we need, is a teen activist just like Xiuhtezcatl Martinez, who has type one diabetes or is a childhood cancer survivor, or something, to write books and go on TV shows talking about healthcare exactly the way he talks about environmental issues.
for profit driven health care system has failed. It is bankrupting everyone including the government. The U.S. pays the most while so many are not receiving the proper care they need to thrive. Wow.... The ACA didn't address cost but then profit is a golden cow for politicians who are refusing to do the right thing. God this guy is intelligent. I feel incredibly ashamed of what I have done in life. It is nowhere near the greatness of him.
We are seeing the recession of an ice age. We have seen this event a dozen times since we stood upright.
Geologically, we know this flooding will happen. We have plenty of core samples that demonstrate this is a cyclical event. In between ice-ages, there are no glaciers in the northern hemisphere. Yes, flooding is extreme. And, in 100,000 years when the cycle comes back around, that flooded land will freeze into deep sheets of ice, covering most of the northern hemisphere. Then it melts again and in 100,000 years, we will live on the land again.
We have walked on to legs for 2,500,000, years. Ice ages follow a cycle of about 100,000 years. Since we stood upright, we have seen this event happen no less than ten times. We survived those ... we will survive this.
But do you really believe that a mere 250 years of industry can make a difference? Maybe. But it hardly matters, does it? This event would happen if man had no industry. The planet breathes on such a vast scale that most people cannot imagine it. Worse, most people do not have the _humility_ to try.

I've known the huge family for 30 years when I met them all on Maui, with the obvious exception of those who weren't born yet... One of his cousins is my goddaughter. I can tell you with absolute certainty that they are the real deal. The are exactly what they appear to be and they certainly practice what they preach.

If he's born in 2000 I'd say he still is a "millennial" I mean it's a stupid concept anyway, a generation doesn't suddenly end at one year, and someone born 3 years older than him wouldn't have a drastically different life experience.

I want his voice to be heard so much that I feel we have to find a better way other than books. Having an 18 year old (and 3 younger kids) myself, I find the audio book or UA-cam video/audio is the best way to get the material to them. They're not buying books. Old people buy books. I'm sneaky and take them on road trips with no electronics and put an audio book on and say that "mama and daddy want to listen" which of course we do, however, because they have nothing else to engage in, they listen along.

Politics are old people doing stuff for old people. The reason why it is good that older people are in politics is to help the young find their paths and pave the way for them. We (yeah I am nearly there) are on our way out and we have to think about them first, not us. We will be gone soon and what we leave will be what our kids will have to live with. We have to make sure to leave a world for all our children.
If you want to reduce pollution, reduce the population. The problem takes care of itself.

Grassfed/pasture fed cows aren't the same as grain fed/factory farmed cows. Grass fed are way better for the environment, as well as healthier for human consumption.

Btw, here's my tip on how to handle Trump style negotiations. Those same scientists came out recently with a research paper that they overestimated CO2 by 50%... And that other contributions to the climate model must be included.. But I love this young man still!

Just curious, would someone ask Bill if climate change caused Irma why then did Florida not have a Hurricane in the past 12 years? 2017 was the first time since 2005 that Florida was hit. Was the water cool from 2006 till 2017? Then all of a sudden the water warmed this past week? But it stayed cool for 12 years prior? Would not climate change result in warming the water every year? Just a few questions. I am all for environmental protection, I'm actually in animal rights groups, but I think climate change is more of a political movement than anything else.

Notice that every time he touches Xiuhtezcatl firmly on the forearm he says something demeaning; you're young/youngest, do your work and take out the garbage.
