I have to pause this till I get my breath back and I'm just sitting on my couch. Suspense overkill. Kona is one of the greatest canine friends I've ever encountered via online social media. Wow 💕
Really neat that you all are doing so many of the state high points! We always remind ourselves that a crummy day adventuring is better than any day doing something we don't want to be doing. 😄
Yikes! That trail! 😅 Glad Adam is so agile & somewhat heroic to be able to maneuver that climb while carrying Kona!💪🏼 Kona is definitely proving she can hang with any mountain goat as well!🐐 You 3 continue to amaze! 🎉Maple Creamies for all!🍦🍦🍦
I want to say that I am really liking your series on Vermont. I have learned a few things about my own state, thank you. At the end of this video you mentioned that maybe you would go into Montpelier. I work in that city. You did miss the foliage by just a little bit. It was gorgeous this year. Thank you again for your videos!
We are really glad to hear that! It makes us extra happy when we can share something new for locals as well. We were a tad early for this area, but thankfully the Northeast Kingdom was more colorful!
I remember Mt Mansfield well, though from a distance!😂Amazing hike - great job reaching the summit! The fog was a bummer! Love y’all’s goal of hiking the highest points of the states possible. Very cool!!!
Your hikes through New England bring back amazing memories of hiking Mt Mansfield, Camels Hump, Mt Marcy, and Mt Washington as a younger man. Your dog Kona is part goat and an amazing travel companion. Kona reminds me of my hike up Mt Haleakala in Hawaii. Keep up with the travels and be safe.
Awesome, if you ever want to do Killington (4,241ft), I would recommend the bucklin trail which comes up the back side. Its 7.5 miles with a bit of easier/ moderate scrambling towards the top. Trail is dog friendly but there was a sign about porcupines and to keep your dog leashed. The trail is well marked with its own parking lot. Mt pisgah up north and camels hump are also well worth the climb.
Bummed you guys didn't get a clear day. Let me tell you the 360 view from the summit (any of the summits) are BREATHE TAKING!!! Come back and get it on a clear day. It's cool when the gliders are using the updrafts of the mountain to fly around. It's SO cool. One night I camped in one of the lodges and Stowe was doing fireworks... THAT WAS AWESOME. Great videos!!! Inspiring to get some of my own going. iKamper Overlanding!!! Safe travels on your next journey.
We will 100% be back! So happy that another peak hike was clear for us later on in New England so we could get that experience of seeing amazing views! Fireworks would be awesome to see up there!
Nice! We did this loop, exactly as you did earlier in the year, also with our dog. We had clearer, though warm and hazy weather and tons of people on the ridgeline. It was nice to relive that hike with its mini-challenges.
Great job guys! Beautiful scenery along the way. I’m so impressed you hiked the highest elevation in Colorado. That had to be 13k or 14k! Great video. ✌️
It was over 14k! Second tallest in the lower 48 and taller than Rainier, which is wild to us, since we saw that massive beauty everyday (well when not rainy haha) living in Seattle!
Thanks for the video. That is my one New England high peak I had to turn back on about 30 years ago. Day started much like yours & the cloud deck descended so fast that we could not see the cairns ahead of us while standing between cairns (THICK thick fog). Glad you got some Piecasso, Flatbread Hearth Burlington is also great. Realize you shot this a month ago, if you were in "the Kingdom" & was going for pizza, you missed out on Parker Pie. If you are hiking Mt. Washington in the future: I'd suggest starting from Pinkham Notch base up to the Tuckermann Bowl. Hike the trail up the face of Tuckerman to the summit. Then on the decent, hike out to Lions Head Trail. Good luck. ~Mark of Montpelier.
Oh wow! We are glad the fog wasn’t that bad, we would’ve turned around too. Better to be safe than sorry and not get lost! We skipped Mount Washington this time, but that’s great to know for when we do conquer it someday!
What a great hike! Beautiful scenery along the way and a little cloudy on top ; ) Can't even imagine those sketchy areas where you had to carry Kona and/or wear a heavy backpack and try to climb a rocks!! Holy cow! Glad you guys are safe and I feel for your mom! lol
Hahahah I thankfully had cell service during this hike so I texted her along the way to let her know we were okay (although she had no idea why I was saying that until she watched this 🙈)
I absolutely love the climb the peak in each state idea! Fantastic. I gotta think Colorado would be about as challenging as they come. And the pizza at the top of this one was perfect!! Awesome. Love the adventure videos, so glad the New England trip has been good!
The view really is gorgeous on a clear day! You can see Lake Champlain, New York State, Canada, and New Hampshire. For anyone looking for a quick, easy hike (30 minutes) with a great view in Vermont, try Mount Philo. It offers an amazing view of the Lake, farmland, and the Adirondacks and is very close to Burlington.
Sorry you two weren’t able to get the views for all that you effort. Great positive attitudes and I know you had many amazing views on the northeast leg of your travels to make up for this one. The fog did add a really cool element to the video. Great video as always and that was a really cool hike. We cheated on our trip to Vermont last summer and took the toll road to the top. Then did the 1 to 2 mile hike to the summit. I planned to do the hike you two completed but was out voted by the family. Bummed but can always return. We did Camel’s Hump and Mt. Pisgah the two prior days and I would have probably had a mutiny if we did this one as well. We all really enjoyed this section of the trail to the summit through the alpine zone.
Hello Adventurers😊😊😊...and OHHH NOOOO! I'm bummed that y'all had to deal fog on Mr Mansfield. At least you made the best of it and still had a great time. Montpelier is one of THE smallest state capitols in the country...and it's a really nice town...small town USA. Northeast Kingdom is BEAUTIFUL! Can't wait to see what's next.
We LOVED the Northeast Kingdom! It more than made up for this hike’s weather and we cannot wait to share that video. It has some of our best drone shots 😍
Hi! I love you video! It reminds me of our trip there ten years ago. We didn’t have a good weather either - we just made it back to the trailhead when a thunderstorm started...Good we made it back in time. :)
Wow when I think of difficult summit trails the Rocky Mountain states come to mind. But that looked intense. I would have had to turn around at that rock wall. Been enjoying going thru your video library on my lunch breaks at work. You guys are living life to the fullest.
We have hiked a ton out west and thought those were tough, but these trails at east have been really challenging, with tons of rocks and some with very few switchbacks! Thanks so much for watching!
Fun video! Great content and editing. It’s nice to see up close what the hike is really like. I read reviews about a different hike, and believed it was going to be easy, but found out the hard way I had the wrong shoes for that particular hike. Your video was great, thanx!
Ahhh! So often the thought of "the view will make this hike worth it" is what pulls me up the mountain on a hike! So it's always disappointing when the views are obstructed. Regardless, that fog alone may have made the hike totally worth it, it looks like it was almost like hiking through a movie! 😊 🌫
We feel the same! Once we got through the tricky parts we were pretty committed to finishing it, but it did have a spooky mystique to it that made it pretty in its own way 😂
A+K...thanks for the video. Yay, you made it to the peak! Funny, the view from that peak looked just like the view from Mount Washington, NH, last time I was there. LOL

Thank you for posting footage of the challenging parts! We're hiking here soon and wondered if this trail would be a little too hard for us but it looks like we could do it! ❤️
We got to do this hike in Sep 2020. Most of the hike was in the fog/clouds as you were, but we were blessed with the sky clearing as we neared the top. Sat and enjoyed the awesome views for about an hour. We had sandwiches at the summit though, missed out on the pizza idea. Lol.

I’m sure the views are epic when it’s clear. You’ll be back! Yay for pizza on the summit! Pro tip: always stay for the bloopers, Adam & Katherine are hilarious! 😂😆
We are thankful we picked a fun hike to do on a crappy weather day! Definitely made the experience still a blast! And we will 100% be back! 🙌🏼 We're glad y'all still enjoyed it!
Okay now I know why you told me, “We survived” when you finished this hike…that was STEEP and could have been unforgiving with any missteps! I’m so glad you three made it through this hike okay. I guess now I can’t feel at ease anymore when you hike! 😵💫😬😅 Adam sure did a great job handling Kona! You guys sure did make this dreary day and sometimes scary hike look like a lot of fun! Stay safe! 😘❤️❤️❤️🐶🥰
I've been in extreme fog. Always wished I could have seen what I had missed. The 3 of you are real troppers to continue on. I still enjoyed the entire video. New England mts seem to very prevalent to fog up. 👍👍🧗♂️🧗♀️🙋♂️
Your guys hiking skills are pretty awesome and you'll accomplish almost all of the state highpoints in time. We made a big trip out east about 8 years ago in order to check out the fall colors and unfortunately had mostly foggy days like you experienced in this video. Bummer.
We hope to do all, minus Denali (and maybe Rainier)! We thankfully had better weather after this on our filming days, but there were a handful of rainy days we just stayed in the van and worked too!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Outside of denali, the claim is that Wyoming's gannet peak is by far the hardest state highpoint. Mainly due to how remote it is. Plus the final climb is legit mountaineering and exposed hard scrambling while being 20 miles away from the nearest trailhead
That’s good to know! Rainier scares us because of the crevasses, but you have to have a guide I believe (or at least most get guides), so that makes it a little less daunting.
I was just up that way the week of Sept 17th to 26th! Stayed in a bunch if ppaces in that area and ended up a lot in Lake George and the Olympic village place....Lake Placid! Good prices for off season!
very cool you're going to the highest points of each state. your mt elbert video got me commenting on my 2 youngest's summit there around the same time and in this video i saw lots of long trail signs- a trail my 2 oldest did a few years ago. you and my kids are an inspiration. and ps- fog is beautiful even though it hinders the view! husband and i are doing small loops exploring until our daughter graduates high school and then looking forward to bigger loops/ more travel/ peak summits!
That’s awesome that your kids have done some of the same hikes! And while we love summiting the high points, just getting out there and hiking, no matter the difficulty level, is always worth it. Glad to hear that you’re getting out there!
So as I was watching, I thought, 'Holy Wampahoofus! What a coincidence!' The same day that you did Mount Mansfield in the fog (September 29, 2021) was the same day that I did Black Elk Peak in the fog! How did Vermont and South Dakota get the same weather? :) I think there are three good things about foggy high points. 1) Uniqueness: it's a totally different experience than most videos you might see of a place. Even though your video of Black Elk Peak is absolutely beautiful (and one of the reasons I became a huge fan), I still thought it was good that my own experience of it was distinct from what I had seen. 2) Aesthetics: when you're up in the fog, it's a different way of realizing that you're high up. It even has an intimidation factor early on when you see the peak or trail surrounded by clouds or fog. 3) Getting away from the crowd: I only had to share Black Elk Peak with a family of three, who helped me with taking pictures. It looks like you had Mount Mansfield to yourselves! Views or not, this is a great video, and congratulations on high point #6!
Hahaha awesome use of Wampahoofus! 😜 And we love your perspective on foggy hikes! We did enjoy the mystery element of it. It was fun to wonder what was underneath all of that fog (and also to have ZERO clue how high up we truly were!) and it definitely eliminated some crowds. We only saw a handful of groups during the hike, which is a huge perk for us!
Amazing video! I like how these state high points are getting progressively more sketchy. I’m sure you’ll be making a Mt. Rainier or Denali video in no time ;)
We decided to skip that one for now. Although the weather on the day we would’ve done it was nice, we decided to do a different hike while in NH. Next time!
Great video, as usual. It is a shame the weather for your hike to the summit of Mount Mansfield wasn't better, but I think it is par for the course. Most of my New England mountain hikes were in overcast to foggy conditions by the time I reached the summit, even if conditions had been decent at the base. Oh, well, good exercise and beats a day behind a desk.
Another great video, visibility notwithstanding. Were there a couple of ski resorts under the nose and lower lip of Mt. Mansfield (around the 7 minute mark)?
Lol to what you said about people saying 'it's not as bad' which makes it a lot worse in reality. This is what I'm like when people say 'it's an easy mountain'. Some of the misty shots you guys got were stunning so whilst it may not have been an amazing view from the top, you'd have missed out on the other elements of it! Completely agree that the hike seemed challenging, some proper butt sliding needed! 12:47 had me laughing SO hard 'hi?' 🤣 Looking forward to catching up on your Vlogs over the coming week! ❤
Yay! You're back! We hope your trip was AMAZING! This was definitely a hike we will remember forever for how foggy it was, so hey, at least it was memorable!
We are always extremely careful, ensure that loved ones know our exact route before we hike (+ give them updates along the way), and carry emergency supplies. We will never risk our safety or Kona's for the sake of a video 😃
Hey - come conquer Iowa's tallest peak!!! Hawkeye Point a huge whopping 1,670 feet!!! LOL!!!! :) No - serious if you are ever through here please let me know...Great vids as always friends. Keep it up!
aw man...huge bummer about the fog but that's definitely the way it goes sometimes. You had great attitudes about it but I know how frustrating it can be for you especially when trying to make these videos for a living. I still enjoyed seeing the route there so all is not for nothing.
So, first things first, props to Kona. What a trooper!! Also, props to you. Question:if I went alone, would I be ok or did getting that extra hand from one another make it possible? I’m normally a loner on hikes
You could do it! Adam was able to get through it without any help from me (or Kona 😂😂). I likely could’ve done it without assistance, but it made me feel more confident, plus my legs are shorter than his which makes it harder. We hear there may be a side path to avoid the wall, but we wanted to give it a go.
We use Google a lot and read blogs + Reddit (Reddit has been a good source for local opinions for cities like Buffalo), plus we get tips from some of y’all too!

Gives us more reason to come back! And thankfully Mother Nature treated us VERY well for the remainder of our time in New England!
Y'all always make the best of it! Good stuff ☔
We try to! Van life has taught us to roll with the punches more!
I was just up that way the week of Sept 17th to 26th! Stayed in a bunch if ppaces in that area and ended up a lot in Lake George and the Olympic village place....Lake Placid!
Good prices for off season!
It sounds like we were near Lake Placid around the same time! It’s beautiful out there!
my heart was racing when you guys were climbing up that rock wall 😮 id have turned around! 😂
It was a ton of fun!
very cool you're going to the highest points of each state. your mt elbert video got me commenting on my 2 youngest's summit there around the same time and in this video i saw lots of long trail signs- a trail my 2 oldest did a few years ago. you and my kids are an inspiration. and ps- fog is beautiful even though it hinders the view! husband and i are doing small loops exploring until our daughter graduates high school and then looking forward to bigger loops/ more travel/ peak summits!
Thank you! And "yes" to everything about the mystery and crowd-avoidance associated with a foggy high point. :)
That’s a really dicey hike!
Such a bummer about the fog. Climbed it on the 12th and the views were amazing. Hope you get better days for your future hikes!
Thankfully the weather during the rest of our time in New England was perfect!
Even the fog blocked your views at the top, still pretty amazing!!
Think about it. Lake Champlain is about 100' elevation. Thats a pretty significant rise in elevation for such a short distance.
The adventure looked like a challenge and with vertigo i think I'll pass the mountain climbing, lol. Fun state to explore though.
It might not be for everyone. We LOVE Vermont!
Amazing video! I like how these state high points are getting progressively more sketchy. I’m sure you’ll be making a Mt. Rainier or Denali video in no time ;)
Hahaha those are the two we likely won’t do! Rainier maybe…Denali probably not haha
That Kona is quite the trooper. So are Adam and Kathryn, always looking for a way up the mountain. Do we see Mt. Washington in your future?
We decided to skip that one for now. Although the weather on the day we would’ve done it was nice, we decided to do a different hike while in NH. Next time!
That should be the motto of the hike *"My goal is to fall forward if needed, not backward, so I accomplished that"* 3:40
Hahaha and a life motto!
It sure does! And thankfully the weather in the rest of our New England videos is a lot better!
Another great video, visibility notwithstanding. Were there a couple of ski resorts under the nose and lower lip of Mt. Mansfield (around the 7 minute mark)?
There is a ski resort up there (Stowe Mountain Resort)! And that’s around where the gondola drops people off I believe.
Please, Please!!! Be careful... don't fall. The dog looked worried. 4:10 but, Thank you! Doing this for me and the viewers.
We are always extremely careful, ensure that loved ones know our exact route before we hike (+ give them updates along the way), and carry emergency supplies. We will never risk our safety or Kona's for the sake of a video 😃
Is it the same place where we went up through the stow mountain resort's gondola? Btw, Picasso's pizza was really good!
Yup! The gondola and a road goes up there too
was just there 10/12/21 - on a clear day and I feel for you guys you missed an amazing view!!! But, good on you for going for it anyway
It was still a fun adventure! 🙌🏼
A hike 🚶♂️ is a hike 🚶♀️ 👍
Still a good workout! 💪🏼
I did Twin falls, and the West Virginia rock 🪨 climb from your videos
That is awesome!!!
Hey - come conquer Iowa's tallest peak!!! Hawkeye Point a huge whopping 1,670 feet!!! LOL!!!! :) No - serious if you are ever through here please let me know...Great vids as always friends. Keep it up!
We definitely will conquer it once we make it there!
I invite you to stop at Nebraska high point...its not far off I-80 at Kimball Nebraska in the west side of state...on flat ground....HAHA!
We'd love to! We may not deserve pizza after it though! 😜
I just did this hike via the long trail on a very rainy day. Nice views but don't make the same mistake I did and underestimate the weather lmao.
Bummer no views but you guys make it fun . 😉
Definitely a bummer, but thankfully it was a fun trail!
I hiked to the top of Mt. Mansfield in June 2021 and there was still snow on the top.
Those New England peaks are wild places!
That was scary!!
It was a tough hike!
I would consider getting a harness for the dog when doing those hikes
We have considered it for ones we need to lift her, but just haven’t yet.
thhanks A+K
Great personal challenge; congrats to you both and Kona! I would have paid the $26 and drove to visitors center though ⛰
The visitor center leaves a lot to be desired haha! Kind of looks like an old, abandoned building 😂
We invite you to come to Oklahoma’s high point at Black Mesa State Park.
We’d love to!
aw man...huge bummer about the fog but that's definitely the way it goes sometimes. You had great attitudes about it but I know how frustrating it can be for you especially when trying to make these videos for a living. I still enjoyed seeing the route there so all is not for nothing.
It’s definitely the biggest bummer since it made the video less pretty 😂 But hey, it’s reality and sometimes not all hikes work out!
@@AdventuresofAplusK ok great. I am loving these videos. YT algorithm got it right with your channel.
That really means a lot to us, thank you for watching!
Great video as usual, is Kona the most traveled dog ever?
She is definitely up there! We need to count how many states she has been to.
@@AdventuresofAplusK looks like she likes the hikes
We did that hike in August 2017
Nice!
Lol… could of stayed in our yard
I’m in jericho Vt
5 -10 mins from that trail
Nice!!! But do you have creemees at your house?! 😜
How do you guys find good food while on the road in places you've never been before? Yelp?
We use Google a lot and read blogs + Reddit (Reddit has been a good source for local opinions for cities like Buffalo), plus we get tips from some of y’all too!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Thank you.
Is the blue paint 💙 trail markets????
It is!
Sry about the fog. Making me appreciate the blue bird days we take for granted here in Colorado. The scrambles made the hike more interesting though
We thankfully had great weather the rest of the time in New England! Helps us appreciate that more 😃
Nice video
Sorry about the fog! We get that a lot in our neck of the woods. 😔
It’s all good! Living in Seattle for a few years trained us to never let the weather stop us!
also...Maple Sugar - Maple Syrup - some say PaTAWTO, some say Potato =)
Hahaha good to know!
Which is a better route going up, Sunset to Maple?
We can only recommend the way we went. Highly recommended!
🙂
