    Thank you for this great virtual hike! I shared it with my assisted living residents and they loved it! One commented, "It's a great hike without any blisters!" Another knew right away that the CCC was the Civilian Conservation Corps. Can't wait to take them on another one of your hikes.

      This is honestly one of the nicest comments I have ever gotten. Thank you so much Carol and sincerely appreciate you sharing with them. No blisters on this one and the ankle on Jackie is much much better! Cheers.

    Great video again! Looked like a super fun hike! From what I could tell, C.C.C. Road likely refers to the Civilian Conservation Corp (1933-1942). They were a work force that came from the New Deal aiming to provide jobs related to conservation and natural resources. They maintain roads, built bridges, flood control, etc etc

      Awesome, thanks! It was insane, looked like an old road, blasting and all. Makes a lot more sense now!

    You should come to NC and hike some! The Mount Mitchell trail is great! I think it’s around 11 and a half miles.

    Very cool! We’re working on all the “tallest” peaks in the Northeast (NY and New England), we have 2 left to go, Mansfield and Katahdin. I’ve spent a lot of time snowboarding in Vermont and I love the state but haven’t done any hiking there. My wife is hooked on New Hampshire now but I’m trying to show her the majesty that is Vermont also.

      @@TheVirtualSherpa Yes. The Green Mountain range is a larger mountain range although not as tall. Of course I have no problem snowboarding and hiking in NH right now, it’s exquisite!

    The bad weather bypass does not lead to the Maple Ridge Trail but bypasses the ladders south of the Long Trail intersection with Maple Ridge. For more adventure try the Subway or Wampahoofus.

      The bad weather bypass also refers to profanity trail from Taft lodge to the summit.

    Hi! I am a new hiker and never been to Mt. Mansfield Any tips on what I should do first? Anything that is fairly easy? Also, I see drone shots, do you know if drones are allowed?

    • @TheVirtualSherpa
      @TheVirtualSherpa  2 роки тому +2

      Pick some hikes that have smaller mileage and elevation gain compared to Mansfield. Also, you can always just hike up and down the same trail on this peak which makes it a bit easier. In regards to Drones, when this was filmed they were allowed - but always good to double check before flying since rules change all the time with them.

    • @mtadams2009
      @mtadams2009 Рік тому

      @@TheVirtualSherpa I guess if you come form the South and follow the LT north there is some ladders. I was able to get my dog down Ladder Ravine and over Burnt Mountain. Those were the two most difficult sections between the Massachusetts border and I89. About 185 miles. We will return next year to complete. I was told to take the bad weather bypass over Mansfield. If you ever do Ladder Ravine I would highly recommend not doing it with a dog. I could find no way around and I had to carry my 47 pound hound mix down. I would not do it again. I think going South would be even harder and with a large breed even harder. I have a rock climbing background and brought a section of rope and some belaying devices to lesson the chances of things going bad. Take care
