It’s been a while since I’ve had the pleasure of watching a Chase video. Both my wife and I joke that we “can’t trust Chase after the bag he designed did not have YKK zippers”. 😅
Funny thing is I’m watching this video on a trip to SE Asia. Left my Wandrd Transit 45L at home and using my osprey proxima as my travel bag because of the size and weight restrictions. I took the Wandrd Transit on one trip to Thailand and domestic US and it survived a downpour and carried myself and my kids’ gear. I highly recommend this bag.
I travel with the Peak Design 30L Travel Backpack. 1.4kg weight. If your carry on gets weighed, you can’t pay a fine. They force you to check in. This is not an ALWAYS thing, but it can ruin your trip if you aren’t prepared.
This is the best looking Wandrd bag I've seen... I'm still not a fan of the Eddie Murphy Raw material, but this design finally seems like a departure from their usual scuba gear look.
I ve got the 30/35L version in black and I am really happy with it. I am no photographer but I like all the features due to the fact I need to keep a lot of stuff for me and my kids. Wandrd makes some really sexy gear. I combine this backpackswith pouches/slings from Alpaka and everything works perfect for me. Thank you for your review.
I'm considering buying the same backpack, Please tell me, that tarpaulin material is easy to scratch, scars?! Does the backpack keep its form when full or half full?!
Hey Chase, I don’t usually comment, but I’ve been watching you for years now, and just wanted to say Thank you for introducing me to bags and your style of delivery. I also wanted to ask you a question if I may that’s not bag related: Are you doing okay? You seem a little off in this video, so I just wanted you to know that you’re loved and appreciated! 💯💕
The weird side pocket you’ve noticed is designed specifically for carrying a water bottle. It features a discreet drainage hole at the bottom to handle any accidental spills. The other side, where you have placed your water bottle, which you can do as well, is actually intended for a tripod.
Mine weights about 18 - 20 pounds depending on the weather. I use Hyperlite Mountain Gear's Southwest 40. I usually bring a side bag for camera gears(Two lens, 1 body, 1 go pro, one dji mic, and a small tripod) and laptop and have that as my personal item.
Kinda feels stingy that a $300USD travel bag doesn’t come with the hip straps included and you have to pay extra for what should be a default part of the bag. It does look good though and seems to be quite comfortable. I find my PRVKE 31 to be decently comfortable for its size, though I wish for a more contoured back panel, and the material on the straps doesn’t feel the most long lasting.
I'm a big fan of Peak Design bags, I have three of them, but the shoulder straps and the back padding is much better and way more comfortable on this, and even on the Prvke, which is similar.
This looks to be a well designed bag. Heavy I know but the organization decisions look to be on point. I know the tarpaulin face is kind of like Wandrd’s trademark but maybe they can release a version with a lighter kind of material?
I love my PRVKE 21l as a day-bag. My go to for a longer period is the Tortuga travel backpack 40l (it's heavy for sure but comfortable). Chase, would you please consider reviewing the totepack you quickly showed in this video? I'm curious what your thoughts are about it!
It's the rubber coating things man. I like buying things i can hand down. I got knives from dad and grand dad. Leather wallets and fanny packs. That rubber will be done in 5-10 years of traveling if it's your "main bag. The lay out is money though 👌🏿
Awesome review mate!! This in the 35L and the Shimoda Explore 35L v2 are the two im looking at. As an all round travel backpack (international carry on) /day bag/ camera bag. Which would you recommend?? Thanks heaps!! 🤙
Chase, great review man! Does this fit under the airplane seat? That's a must for me. I'm really looking for something to carry my gear, laptop, etc, while still not checkng a bag, but I have my roll-aboard, so the backpack must fit under the seat. PeakDesign 32L is prob still my go-to but looking for alternatives
@@chasereeves awesome. Do you have a favorite, or go to, specifically for gear travel? Not photog-centric, necessarily. I rarely take my camera out unless I'm doing a specific video. But I do look forward to finding a bag that could accommodate camera plus mobile podcast setup. And maybe a chance of clothes. So, overnight, gear plus laptop, accessories, snacks, water bottle, 1 to 2 days of clothes. And fits under the airplane seat. What video review should I watch?
If it is just clothes, transit travel to hotel/uber & no tech gadgets then Venture Pal 40L. Less than 1lb. So cheap I'd get another when it dies. On a side note Wandrd discontinued their Veer packable 18L bag. Is the tote backpack their sudo replacement?
The Wandrd bag is too heavy for SE Asia travel... I use the ULA Dragon made with Ultra 800 sailcloth (almost bullet proof) and it weighs 30 ounces... Simple, very comfortable and can fit under the seat.
love the wasatch green colorway. was looking into getting a new bag for onebag travel, but was wondering if this would fit underneath the seat? otherwise, this bag looks super solid!
Depends on airline, but typically bags max out at around 28-30L to be able to fit under the seat. It’s why I went with the Bellroy Transit backpack for any short overnight or weekend trips.
A travel/photography bag that costs over $300 and does not even include any internal dividers or a hip belt? I travel extensively and I would not put my passport in my backpack. If anything is going to be stolen, it is your backpack.
I bought my Wandred PRVKE about 2 years ago and it was the worst bag I ever bought. The material he mentioned, like zodiac, it scratches very easily and is really bad to wear for more than 1h+. Never buy this brand again.
These bags are great but way too heavy. As you mentioned more low cost carriers in east and Southeast Asia are weighting carry on bags. I had carry on checked for weight recently: Hong Kong Express and Peach. In the case of HK Express the max weight is 7Kg for all items you bring on board (including duty free items purchased at the airport). You can’t buy more weight. Only possibility is to check in a bag (normally it’s around usd50 for a 20k bag)
It’s been a while since I’ve had the pleasure of watching a Chase video.
Both my wife and I joke that we “can’t trust Chase after the bag he designed did not have YKK zippers”. 😅
the second batch of that backpack did have ykk zips. i got the version without ykk's and its all good

Thanks Jeff! You've always been in my mind when I think of weight stuff :)

Eddie Murphy Raw 😂 great callback.

“This material is really, really… *glances at script* … durable”. 😂
😂
Great to see more Wandrd bags coming out! I love my Prvke
KotaUL is my fav travel bag. Its only 2lbs - less than half the weight of most travel bags
The weird side pocket you’ve noticed is designed specifically for carrying a water bottle. It features a discreet drainage hole at the bottom to handle any accidental spills. The other side, where you have placed your water bottle, which you can do as well, is actually intended for a tripod.
Still love the old Tortuga Homebase Backpack that you reviewed back in 2017. All of the comfort of a Tortuga, but just 2.3 lbs (1.04 kg)
Oh man, that thing was fuckin rad.

Favorite light bag is Decathalon Forclaz 500 organizer, around $90.
Just reached out to them.

I would definitely add a Slim 3000mah power bank ... Our phone this days is absolutely urban survival
When going light, I go for my IKEA Tote Bag - 4 ounces
Such a minimalist.
@@chasereeves for sure, cut the handles off, because who needs those when you can just cradle it.
Is the reviewed version the 35L or the 45L?
45

Chase, would you get this over the Wandrd Hexad Access Travel Backpack 45L?
legitest dude on the www.. if he haven't reviewed it, im not interested in it.
Solid Lazy Sunday reference.
Not a bag for me, but looks dope! Looking forward to the Aer Luggage review ❤

I actually did have this under the seat on the airplane.

They just came out with a 36L version and it has me wishing I hadn’t of gotten a Mini MLC.

Will that hip belt work with Pakt backpacks?
What laptop sizes can it take
I want to like wandrd, but every pack I've tried from them i just hate the ergonomics of their straps is just off. The spacing is just too narrow.
This material reverse Tpe ?
This one or peak design travel 45?
Peak design is nearly perfect, but the straps get uncomfortable when it's heavy.
Nice design
how does this compare to the pakt bag as they just got restocked?
I asked myself the same question!? Wonder how it measures up to the Pakt V2 backpack?! Thoughts @Chase? Anyone? Please & thanks!
Is Camera Jim friends with Dongle Rodney?
hahaha! stay tuned.
So how does it compare to the 45 L peak design?
Seems very much like the peak design
clean
can you do a Steve Carell impression on your next video
Gimme a clip.

Weight is a deal breaker for me
I bought my Wandred PRVKE about 2 years ago and it was the worst bag I ever bought. The material he mentioned, like zodiac, it scratches very easily and is really bad to wear for more than 1h+. Never buy this brand again.
Why does it get bad after an hour?
Whereas I have the sling and I love it, I literally wear it every day and have for the last 6 months solid of travel
very low key business papers this time.
The lowest key.
At first glance it looks like a cheap version of the Peak Design 45l IMO.
