Picked this bag up and just used it for a trip to Peru. It was great and I had no issues with carrying on for any of the 6 different total flights I took.
I love love love this video, I came for the backpack and came back a dozen times for your delivery. Love your genuineness and excitement, not to mention the humour 🙏🏼 but in all seriousness, I'd love to see a review of this backpack after you've had it for awhile now and see how you're getting on with it. Hopefully see some more matador gear reviewed too as they seem to be a great company. Much respect and love 🙏🏼🧡
I hit the subscribe button so fast. I’ve seen a lot of Backpack reviews and this is how they should all be done. A real review not all scripted and rigid.
Man, if they only made like a 38-40 liters version which will not have problems being a carry-on, this it's an instant buy! But, I guess with every model coming out once every few years - they will only have this 45 liters version available... goddamn....
I just goat my Matador Seg 42 L. You can definitely feel the quality and very invested way progressive thought in the craft , design and textile ... It ismade so well. I goat the Seg cos i loved the built in cubes design but its lacking some backpack comforts of back hips and shoulders support if you want it to be versatile as a backpack too and not just a mash . i wish they would have combined. But it fited even a big tent in the back. Also there other smaller products are very hi end and people love then i can tell. Though... I wish it was a little les army style but you can look at it from a minimalist perspective as close to perfect designs
Thanks for sharing. I only saw their Matador SEG45 Travel Pack. Never knew there was a 42L model. I don't like to stack things on top of each other as it becomes a mess, so this segment method looks great. Although the new model goes over the carry-on size, and also this (unavailable) 42L version. And you also say it has no form, so it's a bit of a problem. Wonder how Matador's shoulder straps are if you carry heavy camera gear. Laptop compartment seems to have no cushioning too... The quest continues....but Matador was almost there...
I was thinking of looking into getting a bag something like this with a lot of space. But I wondered, how do I find something that would fit my size as a smaller person. Bcuz I feel like looking from a video might not really give me a good way to see if it would fit well wearing it. Especially seeing someone else as a different size wearing it. Also, if a bigger bag like this one I liked. Could the straps be adjusted to fit my size more properly? Does anyone else have this issue/ concern?
Matador makes great products. I have a tote, a day pack and a few smaller items. The tote gets frequent and heavy use as a shopping bag, and has no evidence of it.
You had me all the way up til you said $350... probably just stick to my PD 45l, Wandrd Hexad Access Duffel or Tortuga Setout til this goes on sale. Great video as always
I'm 5'2" so I wonder how the pack fits on smaller frames. Would it be possible for your wife to do a quick pack try on reel like she's done previously?
This bag looks great, but it’s too big. At 45L an internationally rated overhead hard case roller just makes more sense, I’d rather have a 30L expandable to 35L to go with my roller or just big enough as a solo weekender. But at 45L if you pack that thing it’s going to be really heavy and make you slow and sweaty.
The bag looks awesome, but I do think they missed the mark on the size. 45 l is a legitimate size, but not if it's the only size you offer. I think they should have started with a 35 l. Or a 40 that compresses into 35. I would have bought it.
The bag looks awesome, but I am not sure what I would do with 45 liters. I would end up with half a bag empty. Even for a 1 month long trip, it would be too big. I would end up over packing just because I have so much space, jajajaja.
Globerider vs. Aer Travel Pack 3? I ordered an Aer, but am having some second thoughts. I need the biggest bag I can carry on US/Europe. I'm 6'6" and 280#, so my clothes are a lot bigger than most. Need a laptop sleeve and an external pocket or two. Don't need a lot of other organization. Build quality and material quality are important. My regular current carry on is a Red Oxx Airboss, which packs out perfectly for me but want to try a single backpack for a trip to Europe. I'm not 100% sold on the Aer yet for a few reasons, primarily that it's going to be too small.
This is a really good review as usual. I'm needing something bigger for 5 day business travel with work gear. This may be it. I was looking at the PD 45L but the straps, not a fan, I like that this could be a quasi hybrid bag for outdoors.
The only downside of this bag is there's no lockable zippers. In the event those low-cost airlines in SEA e.g.Air Asia, and the notorious VietJet wants you to check-in there's no way to secure the items inside this bag.
There are a lot of great bags, all with compromises. For my needs, I’ve narrowed it down to the Matador GlobeRider or the Peak Design Travel Bag. Any thoughts?
If you’re always traveling with camera gear then the Peal Design Travel Backpack paired with their camera cubes will be more helpful. If not, I’d go for the Matador.
@@eladbari It's for sure not the most comfortable bag. I'm about to take my first trip with the GlobeRider and can already tell the comfort difference is night and day. That being said, the Peak is still my pick for protecting gear. If I had to keep it on my back for long periods of time though I'd be looking for a different bag altogether. Maybe something from Shimoda.
@@rockchalkbach Man, I thought I almost found the best backpack with that Matador Seg 45, but it's shoulder pads are also not so padded, and the size goes over the carry on size. It could've been great keeping order. The tortuga for now feels like one that will support heavy gear (planning on 3 camera bodies + Super8), yet the bag itself is 4.5lbs so I'm gonna check I'll check Shomonda. I usually don't like camera backpacks cause they don't give space to any gear other than cameras and lenses...
@@eladbari I love the SEG45 for road trips. Perfect for that IMO. But definitely not for extended wearing. The SEG28 has a better back panel/straps but isn’t big enough for my typical needs.
Looks very interesting for a max carryon travel bag. I will say that there’s a good chance that I would never use that front mesh pocket, especially in fear that it would eventually stretch out over time and become this gaping excess.
Major bag jealousy. I was looking at this bag a month ago and opted for the Cotopaxi 42L (which is great too) because it was much cheaper but man I’m wishing I had gone for this one
Such a cool bag! I’m looking for a new bag to backpack/train hop Europe this summer and this might be a good option. Would love to see/know how many packing cubes fit in this one. I plan on taking my small camera setup (body plus 1 maybe 2 lenses). I think this would be a good addition to your bag reviews since I feel like a lot of people still carry a small camera setup but don’t want to just throw it in on top of a bag like this one. Either way, love this video and the cannel! Can’t wait to buy my next bag!
Man, their Matador SEG45 Travel Pack - could be a great fit for separating camera gear from other stuff, yet, the dimensions of this bag might not make it a carry-on in Europe.. :\
Nice review, looks like a solid bag. How does it compare to the Matador Seg 42? I kinda wish Matador had stuck with the ultralight design philosophy from the SEG series, but maybe that’s just not possible when you load it up with features and a good harness system.
Is there anything out there that is this cool but not selling for $350? Anything in the 100-150 range?? Prob not but wanted to ask, my wallet has a lot of dust bunnies!! But!, I gotta trip coming up!
Check out the Kathmandu Lite Haul 38L. Chase has an older video on it, I believe if you search for the bag on youtube his video will pop up. REI also made a 40L bag that's similar to the Lite Haul called a Ruckpack that I own. They're both in your price range. Happy hunting 😎
i dunno. looks a little floppy to me. i do LOVE my matador beast 28L though. ultimate sports dad bag. hiking, snowboarding, etc. can vouch on domestic flights that i don’t have an issue shoving a bigger bag under seat. my goruck gr2 sticks out just a little bit.
I'm sad to say that I wont be buying this bag and I love Matador. I have a lot of their products and multiple bags from them. They're my go to and my ultimate favorite travel gear company. Unfortunately, for a security conscious, airline, train, etc traveler this misses the mark in so many ways. It doesn't fit as a carry on (and why doesn't it? like taking it down by 2 inches was so much to ask), it doesn't have good security, the back panel and straps will be super hot compared to other back systems on the market. I'd have also liked more straps on the inside but I do like the shoe compartment and the bungee type strap that is on the inside. I'm honestly sad that I don't want this bag. For me, I just want a really savvy, world traveler, ultra light bag. I have spent hundreds on soo many of my travel bags but the price of this bag is almost double what it should be priced at. I'd need a better bag and a much better justification to pay more than $200 for that bag. That's just my opinion and to each their own but it just isn't for me and i soooo wanted it to be. Thank you for reviewing this, Chase. I always appreciate your opinions. And hey, maybe their next travel bag will be the best bag ever.
AI have watched almost all your travel Pack videos and it seems like from 40 to 46 l the bags just suck I travel a lot, a lot always on the go in a different country. And no one has unified what real frequent travelers need. The Pkdt Bag is close but fails in a few aspects. All these bags costing almost 400 bucks are not worth the cash They just are not. The constant theme is failures I'm functionality. And lack of needed features. It's FRUSTRATING.
that's crazy I ordered this bag. I got this today. There was a brochure with a disclaimer using very small letters "This product can expose you to chemical including DMF which is known to State of California to cause a cancer". How can sell something like that ?
Picked this bag up and just used it for a trip to Peru. It was great and I had no issues with carrying on for any of the 6 different total flights I took.
Thanks for sharing that. I was wondering if this bag would be acceptable for carry on. No doubt this would pass on domestic flights in the US
If they make a 30L expandable or a 35l version, it’ll be the best bag on the market. I can’t believe they don’t have a smaller version of this yet.
Yeah, I'd buy that.
A little bigger for SEA trips. I hope they come up with a 40L standard international carry-on size! OMG.
I see what you did there. You don't have to apologize for your success man. You earned it! Make that money and keep grinding Chase 👍
Because of this video and his enthusiasm, I literally went ahead and bought it 😂 It looks like such a GREAT bag that'll last for years to come

Looks like a sick bag. Wish Matador made a smaller 35l version of this!
Silverant Titanium water bottle, not insulated so it’s super light but it has a sleeve. You can also boil in it.

Nothing like a C Reever to start the day!!🎉
Im planning to buy this back for Japan trip but I wish they had a smaller version of it in 35L.

My wife has the 42 liter seg which is similar in size, and she rocks it when we travel. She has your frame height.

Lars nysom bro. Best water bottle ever. Fits in cup holder 34 oz
Chase is what, 5'10"? I can't imagine anyone shorter having a comfortable carry with such a long back panel that is definitely made for long torsos.
The bag looks awesome, but I do think they missed the mark on the size. 45 l is a legitimate size, but not if it's the only size you offer. I think they should have started with a 35 l. Or a 40 that compresses into 35. I would have bought it.

The shape sort of reminds me to the MEI executive overnighter. whatever happened to that company?

Looks sik. Love matador products. Great content man
Really must be nice to get sent this beauty of a backpack 😢
Does this bag meet carry on requirements for majority US airlines ?
How does this bag compare to the Peak Design 45L Travel Backpack?
If I want this backpack to fit in 40cm will inside panel allow me to do it? Or is this panel goes all 55cm?
Which 40-45liter travel backpack do you recommend?
Have you tested the KotaUL? Would you say it's not comfortable than Matador Globerider 45? It's important to me that my hips carry most of the weight.

is it also international carry on??

New TB stuff coming ☝️
Might fit international carry on restrictions, but I don't see that qualifying as a domestic carry on.
You've got that backwards if you're u.s. based.
@twistedxvengeance I definitely got it backward. 😆
The back panel should be in black. Leaves visible wet stain on it when my back perspire. 😢
