They also really need to add the option to enable classic music in Anniversary graphics, I shouldn't have to go out of my way to download a mod on Nexus just for that
To get the music louder in classic graphics on halo MCC you have to before you start a mission set it to classic graphics in classic music in the settings then it will be louder
There was a similar issue in Halo 3, near the final tower on The Covenant, where the wraith would spawn upside-down and tumble off the cliff. That one was thankfully fixed a while ago.
You’re surprised that they fixed a broken product that was supposed to preserve the original legendary flagship series “just like you remembered it”, with half a decade of dev time?
Dude I thought I was losing my mind. I just recently played through all the campaigns legendary and on CE and 2 I felt like a lunatic because I thought the games looked better back then. I chalked it up to nostalgia but then I saw videos that showed the graphics comparison. Glad they amended this.
I just finished replaying halo 2, but I played the anniversary addition. I forgot that it ends on a bit of an anticlimactic note. Of course it was leading into Halo 3, but I beat it and was like, “Wait that was it? That’s the end?”
The fall damage fix is a game changer. There were times where I would die in multiplayer because jumps I could make in 2004 were suddenly fatal drops lol. Now they just have to do the same thing for 3 since there still is fall damage from certain heights in that game
The Allied Elites following again brings a legit tear to my eye. An ridiculous amount of playthroughs I desperately tried to keep them all alive and fight with me throughout that mission. Sadly out of all the Halos it's the one I played the least(not counting Halo 4-5) and so I didn't think it was a glitch because of the port and just thought it was part of the game. Note I did play Halo 2 when it first came out but just not as much as I did when Halo CE first came out. As soon as I finished the campaign I went straight to multiplayer.
@@CoercedJab My issue to begin with is that someone could claim Halo 2 aged badly then cite the MCC instead of the original, Xbox Halo 2 never disappeared. This is why game preservation is extremely important. Zoomers getting exposed to older games for the first time would be quick to wave off it’s visuals not knowing this isn’t the way it’s supposed to be presented. 343 made a fatal mistake releasing mcc the way they did in 2014.

@@alexanderrobins7497 Yeah, we should give them credit for continuing to fix issues, but also remember it was 343 that sold us the broken game originally.
The amount of fixes especially to Halo 2 bringing it back to parity with the original like they did with CE last season is just down right amazing. Its so good to see Halo 2 finally restored to its glory, it really does feel like all the games are in good shape now. Incredible update!
It's good to see a lot of the lighting/shadow issues being fixed, as instant light rendering was one of the things about Blam! that caught the eye of microsoft in the first place.
If you’re having that issue with Halo 3 campaign coop specifically it seems to be an issue with the net code used by H3, I can play coop fine with my friends despite a pretty poor internet connection but it simply will not let us play H3 coop no matter who’s hosting. As for no flood or elites on ODST firefight it’s always been that way, neither the flood nor elites were enemies encountered in ODST.
Finally, some good fixes for Halo 2! Now all we need is for 343 to give the same love/attention they give Halo 3's multiplayer to Halo 2's and I'll be one happy camper!
Fixed one bug that the Uprising Elites have! Not that much AI left to fix now: Quaratine Zone: Friendly vehicles getting stuck in starting area, Friendly Elites not following through the hole at the end of the vehicle section. Regret: Marines not entering Elevator. Uprising: Allies get stuck on glass overhangs during the section where you jump down a bunch of floors. Gravemind: Marines refusing to use man-cannons The Great Journey: Hunters and Elite refusing to cross the bridge.
I reported the bug about halo reach elite ambush when the elite on the left his shields just immediately finished recharging before he stands at the door unlike the original reach on Xbox 360 where he stands at the door and his shields finish at the door, and 343 told me that I should only report bugs that are more important

Seriously so stoked that Halo 2 is getting the love it properly deserves. I know 343 mentioned they wanted to fix H2’s visuals in their roadmap but I had no clue we’d already be seeing this many changes implemented within this update. Super cool.
Wtf? The same studio that shipped a broken product that require 5 YEARS of consistent work simply to get back to default standards? (Not even completely fixed either) Same studio that IGNORED the game for years and went dead silent after their broken release? Mad props?? Halo infinite doesn’t even have coop campaign bruh wtf are you clapping???
@@CoercedJab Yes. If you're bitching this much about all the issues with launch MCC, then you clearly care about it. And you should be grateful they're fixing it when it would have been easier (and arguably safer considering the pandemic) to just leave it. Also, the reason they put MCC on the side-lines after release was because of Halo 5. Halo Infinite and Wars 2's development began shortly after. And Infinite doesn't have coop campaign for the first 3 months, which is understandable. If you know ANYTHING about game development you'll know that implementing any kind of multiplayer system makes the work 10x harder.
Another thing. When are the classic menus and " hide MCC " menu coming? I would like to boot up the game of my desire and boot it up as if I was playing a classic xbox, xbox 360 and be greeted with a classic menu. We need to ask for this and pressure 343 until they finally give us the full vibes and energy that is Halo as it is imperative to the halo community to replicate the finest details seeing how they polished h1 and h2 in the fashion I just explained. Also I am unsure if anyone knows but Halo 3 campaign does indeed have fall damage, there is a skull on tsavo highway that you have a very high chance of taking fall damage as you are on the threshhold of an insta kill. Playing it reminded me of CE since H2 and H3 removed fall damage. I wonder if its still there I would have to test it as it was a classic feature built into H3 as sold on xbox 360. Also at 9:08 there is a red brute flag floating. Why? Do you have the original clip showing what happened to the brute and why he was deleted but his flag remained? I have never seen that and if I have I did not notice until I saw this and you didn't point it out as if you missed it or..? I'm going to miss that brute standing like a cabybara with h expression ontop of the wraith. It was a true h moment h Also the spasm twitching ghost was a classic that has infact interfered with my gameplay and caused me to DIE OF LAUGHTER when it chooses to end my entire career. I am SO happy they brought the classic feature back.
1) Classic menus are probably not going to be coming any time soon. They're a bitch to implement, and the entire point of MCC is so you don't have to go out of your way to boot up the original games. I would like them to update each menu to be more like their original counterparts, perhaps with their original music and UI design, but the layout has to remain the same or new players will get confused. 2) Halo 3 doesn't have fall-damage per se, but there is a limit to how far you can fall before dying. (more accurately called a fall-timer. Halo 2 has one as well) 3) It's a bug.
I'm glad 343 is restoring Halo 2 as well. It had some of the best graphics to me on the OG Xbox, and it was always flat and dull on MCC. Now all we'll need are game menus for each game that at least resemble the originals.
@@tTaseric Good point! I didn't think of that. Then maybe a toggle option for classic menus in the settings would be a great opportunity for 343 to satisfy both new and old players.

I just finished a video series where I was playing through Halo 2 on the original Xbox and when I started that series I had no idea that the PC/MCC version of Halo 2 were so different. I was made aware of it a few videos in by a viewer who is also a UA-camr who at the time was working on a PC mod to correct those issues. It's crazy because I've always known about the Halo CE differences between the OG Xbox version and the PC/MCC version, but not Halo 2. The sad part is that I still own my original physical launch copy of Halo 2 PC that I played quite a bit but still somehow managed to not notice the differences lol. Great video though, I learned a lot.
As a kid I played Halo 2 start to finish easily 100 times, and when I played through on MCC, I picked up on a lot of this stuff. Because they were mostly small details, I always assumed I was misremembering things, but clearly I wasn’t! Great to see it fixed
I was playing metropolis last night, trying to help a friend get the scarab gun. I looked to the sky and instantly could tell there was something done. I saw clouds and lightning in the sky for the first time in a fat minute.
They finally fixed the AI on uprising! That was one of the first bugs I noticed on MCC when it first came out, aside from them not dual wielding on certain missions. Glad to see 343 is still working to get halo 2 back to its former glory.
I hope they add the original version of the Grunt birthday party skull in the future, that would be nice. Maybe call it "covenant birthday party" to differentiate it from the normal one.
Cool to see these fixes in place. I didn't notice these as I play with the anniversary graphics and switch to OG only occasionally to see the difference
Now they just need to fix the broken marine comms dialog. I remember in OG Halo 2, you'd be able to hear certain lines from Johnson and Sergeant Banks no matter how far away from them you were. For example, when the scarab charges forward when you meet Banks, he says "I don't think it's stopping. Get your head down.", you could still hear it from any distance. Can't anymore on MCC.
If you're wondering why the colours look deeper and everything looks a bit darker on the updated version it's because of the gamma being fixed, Halo 2 Vista for some reason had its default gamma setting brightened which carried over to MCC making Halo 2 look awful for years, on Halo 2 Vista if I remember correctly you'd turn the gamma setting "off" to fix it. One that was missed in the video is the bloom being fixed, in Halo 2 Vista/MCC it was very muted and had a strange outline effect on bright backgrounds which has finally been fixed. If you pause at 5:07 you can somewhat see it.
I never knew the difference because i wasn't around during H2 or release of MCC. But since watching walk troughs and playing the MCC i felt the difference a little bit. This explains for me that the H2 and H3 engines arn't that different afterall. And also that i tought that bungie had to cut on graphics during development of H2 in comparison to CE. now its fixed and my reeducation is completed.
I wonder will they ever fix the Audio issues? Examples like Johnson's callout to Covenant waves in Outskirts? Or a minor problem with parts of David Cross marine's voice not playing correctly?
It's so nice that they went back and fixed so many of these. Always knew Halo 1 and 2 didn't look as good on the MCC as they did on original Xbox, but could never really tell exactly what was wrong about them or what was missing, besides the obvious stuff like the broken Jackal shields.
I was just told somebody yesterday to reference the NVIDIA palm tree issue on halo2. Apparently the special treatment that NVIDIA seems to need, did carry over to Infinite because there are already a series of bugs known to be exclusive to NVIDIA.
Fun fact in this update they also finally fixed that second/leftover skull on the mission Cortana in H3 being unobtainable and you can finally collect that skull again. That skull had been bugged/spawned too high in Mcc and rolled off the cliff the moment it spawned in unlike in classic H3 when it was collectable. This has been a bug the entire lifespan of Mcc since 2014 and my longest bug report its awesome to finally see this fixed.
I knew I wasn't crazy, I had memories of the ghost shaking around before exploding but I was disappointed it didn't happen in MCC and after a while I thought I just misremembered it.
havent tested much but some things i noticed so far with weapons. the energy sword aura is shifted downward too far, the rocket launcher stutters after every shot, the FOV on turrets is still way to far out and some marks for certain weapons when they hit surfaces are missing some or all effects.
I never played the Vista port and I absolutely remember the friendly brute on the OG version. Maybe it was that brutes kicked out of banshees were friendly.

@asimple pie Let’s be real that Zealot doesn’t do shit lmao. H2 Zealots have Major Health with suicidal charge properties. A horrible combo for Legendary H2 Brutes with 250 health vs the Zealots 60/150 health/shields
I'm glad they fixed the Elite butt armor not showing for any of the legs except for the default combat legs. It a weird thing you didn't notice how odd the Halo 3 Elites look without the butt plate armor lol
But is the classic music more louder?, the anniversary soundtrack sounds more louder than the classic music(halo 2)
I noticed that too. It makes the old version feel more flat
They also really need to add the option to enable classic music in Anniversary graphics, I shouldn't have to go out of my way to download a mod on Nexus just for that
@@smolsnek3835 The classic version is probably using dynamically compressed music, which would in fact do it lol
@@nagger8216 Very good point.
To get the music louder in classic graphics on halo MCC you have to before you start a mission set it to classic graphics in classic music in the settings then it will be louder
I'm really glad they fixed this. This helps to make the comparison between the remastered and original graphics more fair.
Finally they fixed the fricking Brute Wraith on The Great Journey!
There was a similar issue in Halo 3, near the final tower on The Covenant, where the wraith would spawn upside-down and tumble off the cliff. That one was thankfully fixed a while ago.
I'm surprised they did so much work on the old cutscenes, considering they put in remastered ones for mcc
You’re surprised that they fixed a broken product that was supposed to preserve the original legendary flagship series “just like you remembered it”, with half a decade of dev time?
@@CoercedJab Yes lol.

What does this have to do with anything
The fall damage fix is a game changer. There were times where I would die in multiplayer because jumps I could make in 2004 were suddenly fatal drops lol. Now they just have to do the same thing for 3 since there still is fall damage from certain heights in that game
Good to see that cutscene LOD pop-in is still accurate to the original.
I hope this'll stop people from saying Halo 2 aged horrible graphically, it looks soooo much better with the fixed lighting it feels like a remaster
You realize people would have never started saying that if 343/MS had actually shipped the game “just like you remembered it”?
@@CoercedJab My issue to begin with is that someone could claim Halo 2 aged badly then cite the MCC instead of the original, Xbox Halo 2 never disappeared. This is why game preservation is extremely important. Zoomers getting exposed to older games for the first time would be quick to wave off it’s visuals not knowing this isn’t the way it’s supposed to be presented. 343 made a fatal mistake releasing mcc the way they did in 2014.

No flood or elite on ODST Firefight
“Your connection to the game session was interrupted” is still and issue
If you’re having that issue with Halo 3 campaign coop specifically it seems to be an issue with the net code used by H3, I can play coop fine with my friends despite a pretty poor internet connection but it simply will not let us play H3 coop no matter who’s hosting.

Quaratine Zone: Friendly vehicles getting stuck in starting area, Friendly Elites not following through the hole at the end of the vehicle section.
Regret: Marines not entering Elevator.
Uprising: Allies get stuck on glass overhangs during the section where you jump down a bunch of floors.
Gravemind: Marines refusing to use man-cannons
The Great Journey: Hunters and Elite refusing to cross the bridge.

Same studio that IGNORED the game for years and went dead silent after their broken release?
9:00 I never knew this existed ever when I played this mission countless times of my life.
It was a true h moment
h
Also the spasm twitching ghost was a classic that has infact interfered with my gameplay and caused me to DIE OF LAUGHTER when it chooses to end my entire career.
Halo 2 has one as well)
3) It's a bug.
I am so grateful for such attantion to detail to such old games
Finally. FINALLY
I'm glad 343 is restoring Halo 2 as well. It had some of the best graphics to me on the OG Xbox, and it was always flat and dull on MCC. Now all we'll need are game menus for each game that at least resemble the originals.
unique game menus would just confuse new players too much, especially when using controller and the entire menu layout suddenly changes
@@tTaseric Good point! I didn't think of that. Then maybe a toggle option for classic menus in the settings would be a great opportunity for 343 to satisfy both new and old players.

It's crazy because I've always known about the Halo CE differences between the OG Xbox version and the PC/MCC version, but not Halo 2. Congratulations on being first
Holy shit I had no idea it was ever supposed to look like that! Jesus, that's a huge difference
"Took you long enough." -Doctor Halsey
I always knew it, the go ghost did go crazy after destruction. Honestly it’s been so long I thought I had imagined it
Now we need them to fix halo 4 lighting during cutscenes
They did.
Holy shit. I thought I had imagined the clean scene transitions in original halo 2. Glad 343 fixed that.
This gives me so much hope that they'll fix the lighting in that one Halo 4 cutscene after all these years :D
It is remarkable that they increased the color saturation a bit, reduced the brightness and contrast of light but it is still incredible.
I never notice those issues. I only notice the missing bloom on the second mission
The thumbnail caught me off guard at first glance when I saw "Halo 2 vs Halo 2"
havent tested much but some things i noticed so far with weapons. the energy sword aura is shifted downward too far, the rocket launcher stutters after every shot, the FOV on turrets is still way to far out and some marks for certain weapons when they hit surfaces are missing some or all effects.
I never played the Vista port and I absolutely remember the friendly brute on the OG version. Maybe it was that brutes kicked out of banshees were friendly.
