@@asdf1234_. If I'm completely honest, day to day I prefer a shorter boot. I ride a motorbike for transport most days though, and the extra coverage is a bit of extra protection.
@@asdf1234_. Personally, I find that they flex with your ankle better once broke in. 6 inch boots irritate me because the top is right where your ankle flexes. They also seem better at preventing chaff from getting down my boots, and if you live in snake country taller is always better. That's just my personal opinion for my personal preference of 8 inch boots vs 5 or 6 inches. Other people may have different reasons or preferences and that's all well and good. Just as long as enough people buy these boots for them to keep being manufactured!
Thank you for your kind words @newenergyawakening, we are happy to hear that you are enjoying your Barefoot African Rangers. Our goal is to design footwear that combines style, comfort, and functionality. We appreciate your continued support.
I live in South Africa and this is the first home grown product I'm proud to share a home with , ordering my pair soon would love to come to any offices to fit them on but already know I'm going to love them so ordering online soon.
Yes!!!!! yes yes yes yes yes I love almost everything about these, especially the gap between the rows of stitching on the toe cap. If I ever ordered custom boots I was going to request that. It's a very nice subtle stylish touch.
If these craftspeople were in the US, would any of us be able to afford these boots? I hope they really do have shares in the company and get paid at least the actual SA minimum wage (hopefully more). Add that to actual Rangers getting a pair of free boots for every 10 pair sold, and even the most expensive JG boots are the world’s best value footwear. Just look at the skill required to make these. I have four pairs from JG, and the quality is unmatched in any other footwear I own. I’m so grateful to have access to affordable and rugged boots!
Garth has said they basically pay above minimum wage (factories can apply for an 85% rate, but they pay 100%), and he said they give out bonuses based on how the business is doing.
Those are sweet! I am rotating two pair of barefoot Rangers as my everyday all day. Just ordered a pair of custom AR8's when they have more buffalo I will order another.
These new barefoot boots and casual boots seem great, but I'd love to see more work boots from Jim Green. Moc toes, loggers, engineer boots, and more safety toe options would be cool. Even just a stock composite toe AR8 would be awesome. I know I can get custom boots, but new work boot options might do quite well in the U.S. market.
I dont mean to keep comenting but the more I watch this the more i realize the high quality of the matierals involved. I can smell and feel these boots I have to get a pair haha
I'm super excited to get these in the mail. As soon as I got my bare foot rangers I knew I had a great boot, but always wished they were taller. I finally get my wish.
After looking for a while, and dreaming about it, I bought a pair of the African Rangers from Amazon. Had been wearing the Bellville Mini_Mil in wide. I tried on the Rangers, wore them around a bit. I came back inside, and pre-ordered the Troopers. Damn, Jim Green, I was not planning on that. Looking forward to the boots. John
SO close to perfection!!! Toe cap is too round/pointy (pushes pinky & big toe inward, causing bunions). Add an anatomically correct toe box like Rose Anvil's V7 prototype, and you'll have the perfect boot!!!
@bboybrumley, we appreciate your honest feedback, we are always looking for ways to improve as our goal is to create footwear that meets high standards of comfort and fit therefore our reviewer's / customers feedback is just as import.
Thank you for listening. I do know people have different shaped feet, and this model should fit lots of people. So maybe come out with a few different, common shapes/widths, of the same model boot? Round Trooper, Square/anatomical Trooper, Narrow anatomical Trooper, etc.. Overall, you guys still make the best quality mass produced boots.
Mr.jim green when are the walnut tan color coming out for the trooper & when are you adding it to the custom boot builder.. I want a trooper boot made custom
Beautiful boot! I salute you Jim Green for really giving us the people what we want!!! Will these be offered as a stock/custom option from here on out or are they limited edition units as a colab? Greetings from Chile!
I need to break down and buy a pair of the low top wedge sole versions with leather midsole. I have some iron rangers that I love but I feel like I’m missing out watching the way these are made.
amazing! i watched the rose anvil video about the designing of this boot. I am curious, now that you reworked the base of the tongue to fold more evenly, will you apply that the the barefoot ranger too? seems like it would be a great/ easy switch that would make me want to buy another pair. Still great boots regardless though i have had my pair for a couple months now and love them.
Damn I like the look of the new bronco leather on the website, I assume there is more info on that coming? Also, what's the timeline for moccasins, is that still undecided, or are things looking a bit more concrete. Thanks!
I went down the path of making my own boots many years ago, cuz there was nothing on the market that satisfied me, but if these boots had existed back then, I'd have definitely given them a try, and I bet I'd have loved them. I do have an idea for how you could make them better. The outsole needs to have a smaller footprint, the same size as the insole. It needs to be like the Itshide commando sole, so that the part that touches the ground is smaller, same size as the insole. I don't know, that's as well as I'm managing to explain it. Then you could run the stitches through the outsole as well, it'd be a stronger boot. I would love it if I could get a pair of your barefoot boot lasts. I would only use it to make my own personal boots, and I wouldn't try to replicate it ever. If I could get a used pair in my size, I'd be so grateful. It's practically impossible to find a good zero drop last.
Love my barefoot rangers but the soles are really soft. Going to order a regular pair and see if those last longer. Barefoot ones not designed for asphalt long term
Good day @drmikeyb1, thank you for your interest in Jim Green. Our sizing is true to the Brannock device and possess an EE width. For any other queries please contact out Info department who will gladly assist on info@jimgreenfootwear.co.za
@10:11 What is the sliver of white showing at the heel under the upper? I see this on almost all Jim Green boots, including my own Razorbacks, and it bothers me
India is the leather capital of the planet. If they werent made there i would be more concerned. I still can't find a link to these boots but i will wear them for life when i do haha

This is it, these are the ones. The only boots I'm ever going to I wear for the rest of my life! 👍
Same, I held out forever waiting for an 8 inch. Folded a month ago and now these drop. Time to pull out muh big boy wallet again.
Mee too! I just placed my order!
Why do you guys prefer an 8 inch boot over a shorter, let's say 6" boot?

Took advantage of the early access and ordered a pair of black ones. Looking forward to receiving my first pair of Jim Greens.
Same! Though Houston brown here
Same but the Fudge. Honestly wouldn't mind owning a pair of each color though.
I just placed an order for mine!👌😎👍the fudge color!
me too. i went with black on the morning of the pre orders. I couldn’t believe how many times the site crashed im glad i got them though 😂
OMG the people making these boots are talented!!! I love my BarefootAfrican Rangers and will for sure be getting a pair of these.

commenting to show how keen I'm waiting for the anatomical foot lasts.
Same!
Is this not them? The barefoot version?
@tommymack3210 no, the barefoot just means flat soles. We need the anatomical foot shaped version on top of that.

I want a trooper boot made custom
For the right buyer, these boots will be great.
This in roughout would be killer

Man i want a pair of those so bad!👌🥰👍
those would be incredible in veg tan with that tire sole !!!
Got my troopers in Houston Brown, also ordered another pair of the African Rangers in Houston green.

Cool, now please make one on the ASHM last with the frog grip sole. 😁

Are these going to come in the tire tread sole?
Good day @TommyNitro, you may order a custom pair from our custom boot builder.
Will more leathers be offered?
I would have ordered them, but i aint trying to wait till december to get um.
