I got two pairs and really like them. The Boots are really nice, but the transparency showing how the boots are made and the conservation engagement totally made it for me.
I love the whole process and transparency too.
Didn't know, that Jim Green is family run business. Hearing Gareth talk about the business makes me like my JG boots even more. Looking foreward to getting even more of JG shoes. The 719 will be the absolute killer. Carl what shirt are you wearing by the way? It is beautiful!
Thanks man! That was from the Best Made brand when Duluth owned them. It may still be for sale under the Duluth Trading Co name.
The moccasin is definitely an instant buy holy shit those look amazing AND THEYRE true Mocs
What an interview. On the surface, it's about the boot business and a new collab (which looks superb, by the way). But it's actually a lengthy chat between two friends, covering the past 5 years of shared interests, learning and respect.
Jim Green boots are the only brand I talk about with people, trying to share the good word and wish them great success. I’ve spent $600-700 on average for boots and my JG boots half the price have stood up just as well with my boots twice and even three times the price. When I got my first pair I laughed and made them my 💩 kickers thinking they wouldn’t last long. I beat the heck out of that first pair and I still wear those to work years later, YEARS! Thank Gareth and team life long buyer here
Right on!
Proud South African!! I have a pair of Monsters that I use as a winter hiking boot. Just invested in a pair of Razorbacks. I just know that they will serve me really well in the mountains of the Western Cape!
I bought the Numzaan on Amazon Prime Day. Great deal. With all the leather wrapped around my feet, I wear them without socks.
Didn’t know the Numzaan made it to Amazon already might grab a pair myself
@@WiredCustomsSpeedShopAmazon offers a "business price" and mark downs.
Great interview really enjoyed hearing more about the Jim Green brand, cool story. Looking forward to seeing the 719 available for sale.
Love that tire wedge sole. When will they be available
I'm a South African boot "appreciater". I bought and weared 10 pairs of JG boots over the last 20 +years. I hope to be one of the first to own a pair of 719 in SA. Going to contact them on Monday. Thanks for an excellent chat.
After I personally contacted them I was just hitting my head against a wall.
I love Jim Green 🎉
My Dad bought me my first pair in 2006 to wear on the farm. Still have them. Going to get new soles in a few weeks. I've also got steel toe razorbacks for work. I wear them daily. So stoked to see SA businesses thriving, regards from a Welder fabricator in Joburg. 🤙
Stand up guy .. great company.. I own several of their boots and a few custom versions ..
I have nothing but respect and appreciation for the Jim Green Boots. They are tough, reliable, comfortable, and unique.
The boot looks incredible. Will it still be generous with width at the toe box? In keeping with the JG niche.
What is the difference between the 719 and the numzaan?
Also, since you mentioned dressing up the 719, maybe move the frog onto the tongue so the identity is still there, but not bold for when people take them in the boardroom. Food for thought, good chat!
It looks like a traditional service boot pattern, which is cool as heck.
Well, it looks a lot more like a short and svelt AR8 to me, without the odd tongue and double facing of the Numzaan.
Very nice guys for a very nice talk, what a pleasure!thank you Carl and Gareth ❤
Our pleasure!
Great price on Amazon Prime Day.
I saw this video this morning after I took it off the charger and I hopped right on it. Just finished watching about two minutes ago. You got me fired up for the new collab.Maybe you should go to SA and do a factory tour for this channel. I know what you mean about Nick's website and getting drowned in options. I like how Gareth wants to concentrate on making good boots now and not grow, grow, grow. Good interview Carl. Nice knife! You got me started on my Jim Green adventure back in early 2020 with your recommending Razorbacks. I think I have about fifteen pairs of Jim Green's now. Just finished my coffee now, just like the channel title. Happy trails Carl, and as they say in SA - " it's all lekker".
That bronco pull-up looks great!
I got a pair of Razorback steel toed work boots last year and was blown away by the quality and value of them. I instantly ordered a pair for the house. Later because I work in an absolutely terrible environment for boots, a mineral crystallization plant (think salt mining but wet). I was going to get a second pair of razorbacks and saw that they did custom boots. I ordered a steel toed pair of razorbacks in their Buffalo leather in rough out with leather midsole. I hot stuffed the rough out with beeswax and these are the best looking, most durable and comfortable work boots I have ever had or seen. Well now I have the bug and got their shoes and just received my Numzaan’s. I never thought I’d be a collector of high quality footwear, but Jim Green’s quality and the amazing nature of the company have me hooked. I might never buy a different brand of boot, especially if they keep coming out with these amazing styles.
Great chat with Gareth! I look forward to Jim Green coming to the UK, please make sure to let us loyal viewers from across the pond know when it happens. Thanks for another great video, Carl. Regards Phil
Greetings brotha, from the U.S.
Excited to see those mocs, hoping they kinda merge their stockman slip-on with that moc design - slip on mocs rock
Carl this was a great interview!!! I have finally ordered my first pair of real boots, wanted to support my local PMW community so some Jk 300 are on order.
However Jim Green’s commitment to support the Park Rangers and and the hard work they are doing is so impressive! Also support of manufacturing everything locally is amazing.
Count me in, I’m ordering African Rangers and also your collaboration boot as well. 🙏
Have had a pair of Vellies for two years. Great shoes. Just got a pair of Razorbacks and have been 150% satisfied so far. Learned about Jim Green from Carl. Thanks for a great product!
What an awesome “ feel good” episode! I love learning about these small makers. I’ve heard of this brand but haven’t seen them in Canada. Looking forward to trying a pair. Great looking collab! Carl!
Thank you! Have a kickass day!
Hey Carl, watching this again second or third time. I bought my first pair of Jim Green's after watching your video about the Razorbacks back in 2020. I was intrigued. Now I have about 12? 13? 14? pairs of JG's. I feel like I got in with the company on the ground floor and have a sense of ownership by proxy. This is a really good interview as well as the bar interview you did with Gareth a year or two ago. Thanks for introducing me to Jim Green. I think us JG fans are like people that are Harley fans or Jeep enthusiasts - lifers!
The best series on yourube returns for my Wednesday routine
Glad you enjoy it!
This is pretty damn cool. Nice work. I look forward to more of these.
I’m definitely liking what I’m seeing with Jim Green and I really like your collaboration boot, it looks good. I think the AR8 might be my next work boot. Thanks Carl
And that little fixed blade is awesome.
What a great interview, so excited for the 719 and the Moc toe
Great conversation, very informative! I'm excited about the collaboration boot and the new styles anticipated. I'm also happy to hear the polyester woven midsole will remain an option. It's sleek, strong, and lightweight.
I finally bought my first pair of Jim Greens (African rangers)based off your recommendations and all the good things I hear about them. Gareth seems like a super down to earth guy. Definitely won’t be my last pair
I like the look of the 719, looks interesting. I’ll probably be a buyer when they roll out.
Been looking forward to seeing the moc toes they're working on!! Genuinely a remarkable company I talk about where I can
Gareth is alway a pleasure to listen to. He's so authentic and relatable. I'm excited to see the final details on the colab. I keep holding off getting some Houston green for my next pair in hopes that they'll make some green veg-retan leather.... This colab in shiney green would be chef's kiss.
Happy to see more interviews with Gareth. The Jim Green videos on the African bush are amazing! I recommend checking them out if you haven't.
I have three pairs of Jim Green now; AR in fudge, Numzaan in Vegtan frog grip sole, and a custom AR black with vegtan midsole and minilug wedge outsole. All three are awesome boots
The standards of Jim Green is what got my attention. Now i have my AR8'S (steel toe) they have a forever customer here in Canada.
I do my best to pass their name around as well to others!!
What kind of duties did you pay to get them to Canada? A few years back I was hit with $150 duties on a pair of boots and have been afraid to get anything else shipped here. I had mine shipped to the States and crossed over to pick them up.
@@popuppete if you still have the option of shipping to the states that's your better bet. I don't remember specifically but I want to say it was under $100, closer to $70.
Which is still ridiculous, but still for custom, quality boots they were definitely worth it.
I would have loved to buy Canadian, but when I was looking I couldn't find any to my liking and none of them did custom orders. Well I found one but he didn't want to do steel toe and was almost 3 times the cost. I'm sure his leather was probably fancier and all but that was not what I wanted.
@@va6gkthaskey311 thanks for sharing. I can usually estimate the government fees but the customs costs applied by the importer are all over the place.
I’m right on the boarder so I have many friends to ship to. Still helpful to keep up to date with the pricing.
Hi from South Africa
The stiching is 👌🏻
Just ordered the Numzaan Bronco . Can’t wait for them to arrive 🔥
I like my razorbacks, they’re different but all about functionality, good price point too.
I’m in for a pair of the 719’s, those look great!
Part of why my first and so far only pair of Jim Greens is a pair of Ranger boots is because of the boot donation program.
Even in the 2 years that I have known about the brand, it has grown so much in the US purchasing them in the U.S have become really easy.
I definitely love the service boot
Thanks to Carl. Bought my first MITUSA boots, iron rangers and roundhouse overalls. I wanted the moc toe but RW last is to narrow. Jim green are my next boots. Keep it up!!!
About to order my 4th pair of JGs when my size comes back in stock. My everyday shoe is the Vellie and I have a pair of rangers. Heard about them through your channel, Carl.
Love my steel toe Razorbacks, and can’t wait to get a pair of these. They look amazing. So glad y’all kept the emblem 👌
Gareth, think the US could maybe get a lighter weight steel toe boot available for purchase? Love it but sometimes the Razorback is just too much boot haha.
Great video, thanks. Looking forward to Jim green coming to the UK.
This was a great video to watch!
Love mine , use them for their comfort when I walk around Whitby (where Dracula 🧛 landed in wolf form ) superb boot
Can't wait for those 719 boots to come out--they look amazing!
Next up? How about a wingtip?
Loved this interview. I'm glad there's a numzaan/baobab coming that's made on the wider last.
Regarding the custom boot and shipping cost. I would not mind if their custom boots could maybe hitch a ride in the container to bring the shipping down as well. I understand that it'd take longer though
It would be a good option to add, if possible. I could see it adding some complexity though
Is there a wider Nuumzan coming?
@@cwr8618 yeah, the tyre wedge sole numzaans are to be made on the STC last
@@j_crust4582 thoughts on sizing the new ones? I read that the suggestions for the current Nuumzan was to size 1/2 down. I run into issues with most models due to wide feet. Sizing down is sketch but i hate long shoes.
@@cwr8618 on the stc last it's pretty true to brannock size.
The African ranger is my most worn boot by far. 10 out of 10 recommend
I cant wait to get a moctoe Jim Green boot. I am also looking for getting a dress boot from them and am considering the numzaan currently.
Great job on the video it was great seeing the video and hearing yall two talking
Gareth, if by any chance you read this, I NEED those moc toe boots, I believe they look spectacular just like that in the video sneak peek shown here. If the last you are developing fits comparatively to the JG last, I will 1000% get them in all leather options.
Holy cow, true moc's from JG! Can I place my orders now? Serious I'm in for both styles. Gareth put me down for 2, 1 of each. 719 looks great
Everything jim green is doing is so interesting...one day i gotta bite the bullet and reach out to see if they can make a smaller boot for me. Youre right on the money regarding how garret and how the company operates has led to how endeared the boot community has become with Jim Green
Can't wait to see the moccasin boots!
Jim Green is my favorite boot Brand!
Love my numzaans and AR's, but what last will be used for the 719? Hoping for a STC?
I have razorback ST and the rough out chucka , and those boots are extremely durable. So impressed. I wear them more then my heritage redwing or thorogoods. Recommend Insoles be replaced.
Normaly I wear army boots made in Austria; buy them from the factory; ran into these JGs and now they are my first choice when I just need a light boot; will get the barefoot also
The clicking on their boots are amazing
Good be-lated morning!
Morning!
Any word on when the 719 will be available?
Now we need to get the collab boot in the next thunderdome!
Branding idea: create a “JG Select” line for the more premium boots.
Think the local South African market might make them reluctant.
When will the 719 be available?
I have a custom Horween pair
Yeah buddy I saw those!
Yes and Wyatt and Dad cobblers did a custom
Recraft on my first pair of Rangers made it into a tactical style boot
Those collab boots are so badass, I know what my next pair will be! Is that the only leather option they will come in?
For now, yes. But if they're popular enough I'll bet they return in other leathers as well. Great channel art BTW, You should definitely make that a shirt! Flat rate is a grind, but it looks like you're kickin ass
@@CoffeeWithCarl1 Thanks man!
When do these come out???
Sorry if I missed it, but what "Last" will the 719 be built on? Thanks.
Honestly it'd be nice if they made a tanker style boot and a leather running shoe.
So excited about the 719. I cant afford the Iron Ranger.
When does 719 come out?
The 719 looks sleek!!!! But I think the numzaan is build like a tank
Sorry to be off topic, but Carl, what shirt are you wearing? Between the pencil pocket and reinforced elbows that's everything I look for in a workshirt and would like to know where I could pick one up for myself. Thanks!
When will the collab boot be available
what’s the difference between the 719s and the Numzaans?
Jim Green should 100% make a Birkenstock Boston competitor.
Gareth… think pull on Moc Boot with back zipper that an average person can afford…. BTW: Just now pushed the button on a pair of Numzaan(s)
Nothing about the moc toe?
Those tire soles are bad ass. Does anyone have experience with them on slippery, indoor surfaces?
Carl, don't fool the public. JIM Green might be good to you but to the normal loyal customers in South Africa they give Frustrating service. I can testify from personal experience. I have bought nine pairs over 25 +years but had to throw my toys out of the cot before I got attention. That is how they treat loyal customers.
Anyone know when the 719 will be available on the South African store??
We all wanna know.
Talk more about what the actual Shoemaker wage is in South Africa. Is it a living wage? In The US, there's a minimum wage, but it isn't enough to live on. In Thailand, I will pay a freelancer 500 Baht for a consultation. But there's no context. Is that enough to live on?
Jim green x Viviobarefoot x lems all need to collab together and make work boots (composite toe) the market would go crazy!!!!
If you go to a meeting in the african rangers and people look down on you, then shame on them
*tsk*tsk*tsk Poaching contraband should not be valued or coveted in any way.
