Fitted mine after whilst watching this video. Make sure you have a socket wrench 🛠, snips & a durable plastic trim removal tool before starting your installation. I didn't read the instructions that came with the hardwire kit I just followed this tutorial & mine works fine 👍 11 plate fiesta S1600.
Just wanted to say thank you for making this video. I managed to fit mine in Halfords carpark with ease; the hardest part was trying to get the zip ties around all the wires in a small space. The camera works perfectly now.
Thanks for this. Made fitting my new driver daughters dash cam a doddle. Wish you had one for a 2016 discovery sport as I couldn’t find a proper fuse to connect to (don’t have a multimeter) so it kept draining the battery!
Of what use is knowledge if its not shared, thanks to you lots of people have now fitted their own dash cams, me included took me 10 minutes. Great video upload and easy to follow explanation, can't thank you enough, well done that man. 👏👏👍👍👍
Great tutorial, I've just done mine. A bit daunting for the novice, but everything good. I managed to do mine without removing the dash side panel by threading the wire from the fuse box end to the camera. There are two good earthing points directly above the fuse box. Thanks for the vid.
Just want to thank you for taking the time to help i am sure hundreds of car owners not quite sure how to do this. Especially liked the little tip with the cable ties - Brilliant
Great how-to video. Thank you! Your tip of using small wrapped zip ties to tuck the wire into the headliner is brilliant. For American owners, I have a 2017 FiST and I used fuse F8. It's a 7.5A used for the sunroof and it's powered by the ignition. 2nd little one up from the bottom on the right. Perfect.
Thank you so much! Perfect tutorial. Only thing I found was that the spade connector wouldn't go around the 10mm bolt you showed. I used one above the fuse box which was smaller and seemed to connect to the dash 'rail', hopefully it's okay. It seems to work well!
Thanks very much for the video. Made it a much easier job and I’m sure this has helped a lot of people including myself. Only thing I would say is that bolt for the negative connection requires a long socket extension for the ratchet because it’s bloody tight! Taping it to the little metal gap just above works fine, it’s just not as secure. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers for this mate - once I'd got all the parts together it took less than an hour to fit it exactly as you showed (2010 Fiesta fusebox is slightly different but used exactly the same principle).
bait clicker Hi any chance you can give us detail instructions on where I will find the right fuse to use to hard wire dash cam to my 2010 fiesta thanks you can reply on here or by email: jln38@hotmail.com
Great helpful video..what is your view on the issue that the fuse tap must be inserted the correct way into the hot/live side of the fuse box..it seems that this is quite important...? Thanks...
Excellent video. I did not know that Piggy Back fuses were available and they seem like a great idea. But does anyone know if the Mk 6 Fiesta offers an Auxiliary ignition key position (as opposed to only live when driving) so that I could supply a Bluetooth adapter from it and use the phone when parked? I have not yet been able to find a fuse that would do this but there must be a circuit somewhere as it operates the radio this way.
Thanks so much for the clear instructions, I’m now feeling confident to hardwire my front and rear cams at the weekend. Sorry to be late to the party but my nextbase has parking mode so I need it to still work without the ignition on (short term). I don’t have a multimeter so could you tell me which fuse to piggyback on a 2013 Fiesta Ecoboost please?
Can you show how to run the 2nd camera to the rear of the Ford Fiesta? I just bought the viofo duo pro cam which had front and rear. Thanks! Great video too
Hi mate, great video very helpful!!! I've got a ford s max titanium x sport where would the fuse box be to install a dash cam? I've got the same dash cam as in your video
Hi that is the one I followed to do my ST200 but the new fiesta has a different fuseboard and what I think are micro fuses and three prong fuses which seem to cover two items . Thanks for the reply I will see if I can borrow a tester to find an appropriate fuse. I had to contact Nextbase to get the correct size Fuse Tap sent out, they were really good had sorted it out within 4 minutes of me logging the ?
Hi. Very helpful video. I’m about to fit the Nexbase 512gw with rear camera to my wife’s 2018 fiesta which I’m hoping is very similar to the previous model. Could you tell me what fuse you piggy back off in the fuse box? Thanks
Great video followed everything dash cam all in it's ford fiesta zetec eco boost 1.0 2013 i used same fuse as video car manual states it's stop light is this ok Thanks
Hello mate great vid thank you, I have a 59 plate polo I want to fit a Nextbase 312GW to. Any ideas what fuse I should use please? It’s a 1.2 match model 💪🏻
I see all of MK6 Mk7 Fiesta owners are sticking the dash cam on the dotted zone behind the mirror. The problem is that back there the wipers are not cleaning the windshield. How is afterwards the footage in the frosty wheader or when is raining?
The mount has to be just above the wiper sweep area so that the lens can be just under the wiper sweep area. If you go lower the camera is classed as an obstruction and so is illegal (UK,not sure on other country's)
Great video, by far the best on the subject. One thing I'm having trouble with, and I've read all your comments and searched UA-cam: How do you get the camera to stick to the black dimpled area behind the mirror? HELP. Thank you, Subscribed and rang the bell :)
2015 Ford Fiesta, not getting any power from ignition. Used the same fuse as yourself in the video. As I do not have a volt meter, I can’t check 😅everything else all done as demonstrated
Hi I own a very nice Mondeo 2015 Titanium and Helfords have fitted the same Dash Cam to my car - however I am not sure the permeant live tap fuse is being used for the parking mode as the camera turns off when I leave the car. I assume in parking mode it will stay on unless my batt level drops below a certain level? Warm regards Richard
How can you see what fuse delivers what voltage? I need a 12v source. In my 2009 fiesta. So I can add a Bluetooth device and some USB ports. I will use a buck converter also to convert it from 12v to 3.7v for bt device. Is there any lower voltage source in the car.? Like a 5v?
Yet to do mine. Your video will be of great use to me … simply explained. Just one question: I've seen situations where the kit has been connected to a permanent live fuse so as there is power for the Parking and G modes. Should this be done, or will there be problems? I realise there is a drain on the battery, but I would have thought it wouldn't be enough to run it flat. Many thanks.
Yes that would drain the cars battery, you can buy parking mode kits that have both constant power and switched power cables. A lot of cameras have a parking mode that works on battery back up but this is only designed for short stay parking, not long periods of time.
Hi found this video, ideal as I've a Fiesta 2017, all going well, until went to put the ignition on no power to Dash cam, used the same fuse, checked the fuse was live as ignition turned on, then off when off, checked no problem with fuse, retried the unit with the cigarette lighter lead just in case all good. Anything else I can try before I take it in to the garage? at least the wiring is in place. Good video though very easy to follow :)
@@NigelSmith-uz2wy Sounds like it’s not earthing properly or very rarely the hardwire cable is faulty. They have a 12v to 5v convert box in the cable with a little red light on them. So - Check red light is on and if not check earth and if that’s ok it might be a faulty cable.
Hi Like to say I'm finding your guide videos very useful, Very helpful - even tho you've probably done many since. I'm about toi stall riad angel halo pro in 66 plate fiesta. I have 2 questions if you are able to help please? 1) in your experience with mk7.5 fiestas, which fuses have you found work best for cams, Constant for Parkng Mode, and Switched for standard, turning on with ignition? 2) matter of opinion I know, but in your opinion which Rear cam location works best - top centre of rear screen, with cable routed through black concertina cable covers, or rear centre of roof lining, cable just tucked under roof lining - which doss not move when boot is opened? Thanks! And Thank you for great videos 👍🏼
1. Switched live try heater blower motor, constant live try central locking. 2. Centre of rear window at top, route cable through rubber grommet or cable will split over time (seen it many times)
When I piggy back to the existing fuse, only one of the two slots then works, but if I switch them round then the other works. I.e when I fuse to the rear wiper, either wiper works and camera doesn’t or if I switch round the camera works and wiper doesnt. Any suggestions?
An excellent tutorial but just one point. Should you not check which end of the fuse is protected by the original fuse? In other words which way round the piggyback should go. Am I not correct in assuming that if it is put in the wrong way, the current for the original circuit ends up going through the dashcam fuse?
Yes the fuse has what is termed as a hot side. The hot side is the power feed in to the fuse and so yes the fuse spur needs to me on the correct side. I did mention this in older videos but all it did was confuse people and spur lots of questions, so now days I don't mention it and as long as the fuse spur is put in the same way as on the videos all will be fine.
@@PJsprojects Thanks for the reply and for clearing up my query. Actually, I think in my case, I am going to use what I believe to be a spare fuse. I have a 2011 Titanium WITHOUT heated seats and the type 2 Passenger Compartment Fuse Box. Yet there is a 7.5A fuse in position 10 which the owners guide says is for heated seats. I think I will just remove that fuse and replace it with the piggy back with only one fuse inserted to power the dashcam. Hopefully the guide is right and there is not another circuit protected by Fuse 10. However, I still found the guide very informative - especially the tip about wrapping tape around cable ties to stop the cable dropping down from the headlining. I am also going to look at rewiring the dashcam in my Jaguar XE that has a DAB radio. I did not know about the filters and fitting one may improve the DAB reception that is not always very good. Thank you for that.
Excellent video. One thing I wonder; is the magnetic shield essential? Most of the kits on ebay don't seem to include them. What will happen if this is not installed? Thanks
Great informative video.Just attempted to hardwire my dashcam on 04 fiesta ghia uk.Fusebox layout same as yours used multimeter as shown but could not get a voltage reading. After pluging in piggyback cable with orig fuse and camera fuse as shown(Very sloppy fit) tried on hot...voltage on all the time and when only ignition on. but to no avail. I can get readings which are great on all the sockets i tested but not when I used the piggyback cable, Im thinking the cable is faulty, bad connection. Any ideas?

Great video... I have fitted a DDpia M6 plus to my Toyota Aygo 2018 but now I also want to fit a standalone rear dash cam does this mean I have to run a wire from the front to the back live one or could I find a auxiliary live wire at the bk for it?
By plugging in to one of the empty sockets its possible the ecu will try and read an optional extra that is not fitted and so could throw a fault code.
Thank you for an excellent video. Am soon to attempt this as a result of watching this. One question on the fuse box: in the video you chose a fuse which shows zero when the engine is off and then power after ignition. Am I correct therefore in thinking that you are not using the camera in parking mode with a constant power source? If I do want to use this mode on mine, which fuse or readings do I need to find? Many thanks!
These cameras can flatten the battery when connected to a constant live. I’ve fitted hundreds and people that don’t listen often end up with a flat battery. The cameras do state they switch off when battery is low but this is now always the case. The camera is not designed as a surveillance camera.
I did a basic rear camera guide that pretty much covers most cars, have a look but if still stuck let me know. ua-cam.com/video/m2GNqJffZKA/v-deo.html&list=PLtk1mIMungvB89zF_73myF-cgk8ho2ERh&index=117
Hi, is it ok to tap into a permanent/constant fuse to keep camera running for parking mode when engine is off on vehicle? Would it cause drainage to my 12v battery as I have a hybrid lexus is
Great vid mate. Got 2016 ST and fitting a viofo dash cam. Just wondering what strength was fuse that came with wire tap because mine hasn't got one. Thanx.
What size ferrite core are you using? Cable looks about 5mm max but to get two widths through are you using a choke designed for 5mm cable or a bigger one? Cheers
Can you use this technique for multiple devices? I want to hardwire install a wireless chargemount for my phone and a dash cam. However I already had a mate install something like this already to get blutooth working on the factory fiesta radio. Can I use another fuse that's ignition activated?
Regions of sale and spec makes the layout of the fuse box different so with the aid of your owners manual and a test probe try looking for maybe the heater motor fuse as this is a switched circuit.
Thank you for this 😊🙏🏼 going to give it a go. I don’t have DAB so do I still need to wrap my cable round that black thing. Do I still need to put that bit on?
Dude amazing video, respect from Turkey 🇹🇷 a question though? Can I apply this hardwire method of yours to both battery dash cam and supercapacitor dash cam ? Or there would be a difference?? Thanks in advance
The Camera Mounted in the position shown takes in the left hand side windscreen strut and the black part of the bit behind the rear view mirror is it ok to put the camera lower down so that you get a full view across the whole windscreen?
Thank you for your prompt reply. I was hoping to position it below the black chunk below the rear view mirror. Shame to loose 20% of the view. Your video is the best on Utube. Thank you!

Hello any tips on fitting a nextbase 412gw with nextbase hard wire kit on a 2009 face lift c max not to sure what fuse to wire it too and best way
Brilliant video!
@@PJsprojects Thanks for the quick reply! Makes sense!
Hi I am going to fit my hard wire 512gw to my 2016 Ford Kuga in the morning if you have details or advice it would be fantastic
Same sort of layout overall, the dashboard mounting bolt can be a bit awkward to get to for the earth wire but other than that it's not to bad tbh.
PJs projects thank you for reply. Is it the same fuse or will I have to test them. I hope it goes ok lol
Very helpful video.Thanks!
Do you have any video on how to install a rear camera on a fiesta? Can't see how I'd follow the wire past the rear and drivers door
I did a basic rear camera guide that pretty much covers most cars, have a look but if still stuck let me know.

Great video thank you.
Thanx.
A 3amp will be fine.
Hi thanks for such a good step by step vid it had helped lots. Just wondering if you know what fuse I should use on a 05 plate fiesta thanks
Regions of sale and spec makes the layout of the fuse box different so with the aid of your owners manual and a test probe try looking for maybe the heater motor fuse as this is a switched circuit.
Hi, great video tutorial. Perfect for my Fiesta.
Do you know if it would be similar for a 2014 Suzuki Swift?
Same principle
Thank you for this 😊🙏🏼 going to give it a go. I don’t have DAB so do I still need to wrap my cable round that black thing. Do I still need to put that bit on?
Lils M The black thing can also help with FM interference so best to use it. If you run in to any problems just ask.
Dude amazing video, respect from Turkey 🇹🇷 a question though?
Can I apply this hardwire method of yours to both battery dash cam and supercapacitor dash cam ? Or there would be a difference?? Thanks in advance
Top video, I wanted to fit a second rear camera could you use the same power supply and spice a second power lead?
Yes no problem just pop a 5amp fuse in the fuse spur instead or the normal 2 or 3amp.
Hi is the fitting of the dash cam the same for a Ford B Max 2013
The Camera Mounted in the position shown takes in the left hand side windscreen strut and the black part of the bit behind the rear view mirror is it ok to put the camera lower down so that you get a full view across the whole windscreen?
You could either try lower or in one corner but be aware that anything is the wiper sweep area is an mot fail and may get a ticket from the police.
Thank you for your prompt reply. I was hoping to position it below the black chunk below the rear view mirror. Shame to loose 20% of the view. Your video is the best on Utube. Thank you!
Hi can you show how to remove trim from on Kia sportage 2017 to install hard wire kit for nextbase dash cam cheers.
The next time I have one booked in I will be sure to do a video on it.
HI buddy i have a question, what gauge size is that ring connector and how did you connect that ring connector to that wire ?? thanks
I have a 2007 fiesta and looking to hardwire in a dash cam as if I put a dash cam into a cigarette socket it drains my battery as there is continuous power coming from the cigarette socket even when the engine is turned off. Will hardwiring a dash cam solve this problem ?
