FWIW, I have an older model Deathadder for my rig, and I mostly love it. The program for controlling the RGB on it is an older version of the program I use for my keyboard RGB despite both being Razer, but I guess that's just Razer being Razer.
the mouse with the T on it has a wired version (10$ USD) which I've been using for years with no issues. if you're really on a tight budget, like a high schooler building their first gaming setup, I highly recommend it.
The wireless one is better. It's WIRELESS, and costs about the same. Win-win. Neither one is really super good for competitive gaming, but for casual games or productivity stuff, they're great.
@@t0njemy dude, the battery lasts about a year, and cost less than $1. If that's a problem for you, I'm sorry for your life, but you probably shouldn't be using a computer, as the electricity is too expensive.
So that can't turn around issue in halo infinite is actually a glitch in the game I experienced it as well. Can't remember exactly how I fixed it but it has something to do with controller input. Those mice still sucked though
The manufacturing of products that are E-Waste pisses me off. This is the world we created for ourselves by not making our own products. In the end, it will cost us everything.
that wireless mouse you used in the comparison is what I use for school and work, bc its good enough for me to click things 4000+ times bc the program my work uses doesn't always pay attention to clicks so you have to spend the first 20 minutes of your day clicking one thing to get the prep system open
My theory, is that when companies claim it's (x) times better than the competition, this is the competition they are talking about, and they exist simply to prove the legitimacy of the claim, and they are actually overpriced knowing nobody will buy it, and for the grandparents that do buy them, they can make 3000 more, with one store buy. (And the store buys them at 20-50% of the listed price, so they are incentivized to have them, not losing money on even the heavy discounted prices on sales, and sales are just for storage space clearance.
That first mouse is the EXACT same shell as my old "arachnid" mouse. From what i recall arachnids products were actually pretty acceptable for their price, granted all of their stuff was mass produced chinese gear that brands got to slap a label on and sell as their own. The mouse worked well for 6-7 years, it was about on par with other budget mice in terms of tracking etc, click inputs were no problem up intil it started to go all funkybunky after these 6-7 years. I really liked the shape of it tho! Fit my hand very well and kept my fingers from spilling over and rubbing across my mousepad (big deal for someone with sensory issues) BTW that "fire button" is a macro that spams left-click :D They also sold keyboards aswell, these were probably their best product with the one i had being a METAL chassis TKL with actual cherry red switches for like 60 euro! Both of these came with a DVD for the software, the keyboard let you make fully customizable profiles for both the RGB and inputs, the mouse would also let you change from a few premade RGB profiles and change up the inputs. Now a thing that this questionably real brand "Arachnid" was their headsets, they had about 3 different models at different prices from around 40-100 euro. I only got to try their cheap and midrange sets and both SUCKED, the cheap set were all plastic body and i kid you not they SNAPPED IN HALF after they fell like one foot, this happened TWICE btw. The "midrange" set was a bit better with more metal and tolerable sound quality, but they still snapped in half in the plastic after a one foot drop.. The brand did go under a few years back, probably for good reason as they only really had one good product with me mouse being acceptableish.
Linus' point about second hand stuff is real. I've been using a 2016 Razer Black Widow Ultimate keyboard for over a year that I got from Goodwill for $9.99 for over a year now. Never thought I'd daily drive a Razer, but I'm impressed! Especially for the price. This was before I was able to upgrade to the $3k machine I have now. Because of that, I've intentionally left the sticker on it. Gotta remember where I came from.
12:00 - I wonder if the color of the desk pad is part of the problem. When doing the big swings, the mouse is out on the black part. Maybe the sensor is so bad it can't pick up motions on black.
24.99 at princess auto currently. The mouse and keyboard in this kit sells at dollar store for 5$ each. We have them both for the 1 year old to play with. I do play with a princess auto mouse and I liked it so much bought one for my son's PC. It has like 4 adjustments for dpi. I often switch through them depending on the game.
I also purchased some of these products and I was also shocked by their poor performance. The worst part is they cost the same as reputable brands. Next time I'll do my research.
as a princess auto employee i always saw these and thought it was fucking hilarious. as soon as i saw the video i was like "no way finally" then linus mentioned our store. its insane how happy i am. (also fyi we are not an automotive store like most assume. we sell mostly trade/farm tools. its almost like a walmart for tools and the such.)
I used my Razer DeathAdder 2013 until late last year (it had started double clicking on both the left and center buttons and got tired of taking it apart to fix that with a cleaning.) But it was perfect ergonomically for me and performance is pretty great on top of lasting over 10 years. I repleaced it with the white Razer DeathAdder Essential, and couldn't be happier. It's nearly identical (sans the actual rubberized side grip and the braided cable) and was SUPER cheap.
It's Razor's software that causes the double click issue. I had one of their mice for about six months and could never get it to stop double clicking everything, it was a nightmare. I switched back to logitech and have not had any issues since. That was like 9 years ago, the fact that Razor still has not fixed the issue is exactly why I haven't owned anything from them since, software is trash.
@@dartmaster5877 bro it is not software. It is china made Omron switches in both old Razer and most Logitech mouse. I had same era DeathAdder as the guy above, I put in Japan made Omron switches and it lasted me years, stopped using it, when it started look awful, because it was so worn down. Since that I had Steelseries and like 3 Logitech mouse and both G102/G203 had double click issues. Got a G305 now and I just accepted that I will need to replace the switches. BTW. I have yet to use peripheral that software for isn't completely shit. One thing good about logitech software is that You can change the settings, send the config to the mouse and remove the software, never use it again.
I have that wireless mouse at 13:10, except with a red scroll wheel. That scroll wheel is crazy, it reads it so badly that it sometimes does nothing but when it does something it goes in the wrong direction about 40% of the time. It is a spare for when I leave my Bluetooth mouse at work, but I literally have to use the scroll bars at the side of pages or documents the wheel is so bad, basically unusable. However it is perfectly OK for basic gaming (I don't play multiplayer, so less pressure) if you select your weapons with the number keys.
Linus' wrap up is spot on. Not only are they unusable and more marketing buzz words than actual substance, they're also instant e-waste even before they come out of the box and if there's one thing we can use way less of is more plastic and electronics ending up in landfills and the ocean.
That mouse that was in the Gaming Kit - I got one from Dollarama in Nanaimo for ... $4.00 CAD. Obviously not for gaming, but when I packed my laptop for a work trip to Tofino, I forgot my mouse at home. Works well enough in emergencies.
@linustechtips, what I’ve found is that a cheap laser mouse works better against a white pad. Test it out that way. At the end of the day, though, a mouse should work with whatever surface you are on.
I will always suggest a cabled Razer Deathadder for people on a budget. I got one off of eBay almost 10 years ago for around like $40-60AUD, and it is still running. They are practically unkillable.
My previous mouse was a cheap €7 Logitech mouse, that was just a boring gray wired mouse, but did the job just fine for 4 years, including gaming (where other mice broke in a year or few months). It had no fancy features, it was just a simple mouse that worked well. I replaced it cause I wanted an ergo mouse, NOT because it stopped working. I still have it sitting somewhere, and it's fully functional. If you want cheap peripherals, just buy the basic boring products from reputable brands, instead of buying fancy cheap garbage from unknown brands, that will be problematic and break soon.
There are some lesser brands that deliver decent low cost products which are perfectly fine. Hama, SpeedLink, Sharkoon. These are very basic products but they take years to go wrong. But all of these have been around for 20 years so they aren't exactly here today gone tomorrow, and they only use Pixart sensors not the Jingzhi ones unlike the mouse in this video. I have seen new Chinese brands establish which do decent products but the prices aren't cheap, because parts aren't cheap and are imported.
@@SianaGearz I guess you're right. Now that I've thought about it more, I've also had stuff from known brands end up being garbage, like an HP mouse I had before the Logitech one, that was a piece of junk and broke in like 6 months.
I can hard recommend Red Dragon. I bought the K556 for $60 a year ago and it's been an amazing purchase. Solid, good mechanical keys, and a great price
There's an ancient druidic saying, from the lowlands of Britain- "Just because gas station sushi didn't make you sick, that doesn't mean it's any good."
I daily drive the rk68 if I'm still allowed to call it that. I've exchanged stabilisers, Switches and Keycaps and filled the whole damn thing with a poron mat between the plates and a silicon pour. But that's honestly just because it's one of the only Backplates that supports ISO and I'm so happy with how it turned out
i would like to mention that i have bought a higher end T-Dagger mouse and it has served me very well it has proper software and tracks pretty well, it did cost me around 30 GBP so it is more expensive but it works well
I have about 6 of those Eastern Times (and its various other brandings) mice out at various clients. I've never had one fail in more than 5 years of recommending them. They are a phenomenal value for what they are. Like Linus said, they aren't really a 'gaming' mouse, but as a basic desktop mouse, they are excellent.
i remember a couple years back i had a razer deathadder chroma and they had a refund policy of two years, but every time i sent it back they refreshed the two year warranty on the one they sent back to me. they were most likely refurbished from what they were sent back from other people, but regardless they couldnt seem to send me a mouse that lasted longer than two years (ngl the mouse itself was normally fine, but the wires would always get broken from the simplest of bends) but i figured if i could get a free mouse every year, then id never have to buy another mouse again lmao. eventually after the fourth send back they finally sent me one that lasted longer than two years. it didnt make it to three, but i still got a pretty good deal out of how much customer service i was offered on refunds. this was years ago, not sure what the refund policy is now, but i bought a razer mamba for a replacement since it was a bit cheaper, but this thing has lasted for like 4 years now i havent even thought about getting a new mouse in a very long time since i really dont need one. moral of the story is refund policies are important lol
While I know this goes out of the budget entirely Spending $70 on a Deathadder v3 wired. Zero complaints, light, no blinking lights at you and a great sensor
One thing I noticed after switching from cheapo stuff to known brands is that the cheapo stuff's customization is a lot more invasive (in a good way). The cheapo stuff actually allowed me to control the volume of windows media player directly while the branded stuff could only do a global volume control. Kinda nice if I wanted to turn down the music while still being able to hear other programs/apps. inb4 why are you using wmp to listen to music
I used the logitech g203 and a redragon mechanical keyboard for years, including for collegiate esports. I have had zero problems with them. 100% would recommend them as a low budget option
Those auto parts mice and keyboard are useful. No idea why they have RGB but shop are routinely destroyed by dust and abuse. You've not seen dust until you've seen body shop dust. When you have a bunch of people covered in dust and grease and paint touching these to look up parts and things, they are destroyed fast. Cheap replacements are necessary. Back in my day I kept full replacement sets in the supply room because you'd a replacement every few months.

esp. if you are using a known-decent mouse and it's losing sync or not tracking well... put it on a coloured mat with a pattern that the mouse can detect changes in easily (the little changes are how it detects movement)
[note that of course it could be other things like the USB cable being sensitive or borky, connection loose, etc etc]
nice finds though
yeah so called technical fucking expert.
did it have this in testing? no...
should of been a : o i know why moment.
i had mice that ran absolute shit on a black surface. but when i used these mousepads with tons of art on it. they worked like 20 times better.
Style over function. Your comment reminds me of an office setting from [mumble] years ago with transparent desks and, yes, optical mice.
oh I'd still call Mr.Linus an Expert, even if it is from lifelong experience and not formal training, I didn't mean to insult...@@miciso666 I'm glad you found it all out yourself (with the artwork on the pad) way to go!
@@miciso666 They also only tested a few games with only a few settings for some recent GPU(probably all of them were in this fashion), while Hardware Unboxed tested way more games, with way more settings. This "lab" hasn't actually done anything for the standard stuff this channel covers at all.
FWIW, I have an older model Deathadder for my rig, and I mostly love it. The program for controlling the RGB on it is an older version of the program I use for my keyboard RGB despite both being Razer, but I guess that's just Razer being Razer.
The speakers don't need to sound great, they just need to sound better than the monitor built-in speakers.
I love how you brought up buying second hand, very great alternative in all fields for hobbies etc.
the mouse with the T on it has a wired version (10$ USD) which I've been using for years with no issues. if you're really on a tight budget, like a high schooler building their first gaming setup, I highly recommend it.
The wireless one is better. It's WIRELESS, and costs about the same. Win-win. Neither one is really super good for competitive gaming, but for casual games or productivity stuff, they're great.
@@Elmojomo the latency issues are awful on the wireless one. I had both, I returned the wireless for the wired
@@Elmojomo Like the commenter said above, wireless products are known to sometimes have caveats compared to their wired counterpart
@@Elmojomo Wireless is better? In what world? Keep buying batteries for it?
@@t0njemy dude, the battery lasts about a year, and cost less than $1. If that's a problem for you, I'm sorry for your life, but you probably shouldn't be using a computer, as the electricity is too expensive.
So that can't turn around issue in halo infinite is actually a glitch in the game I experienced it as well. Can't remember exactly how I fixed it but it has something to do with controller input. Those mice still sucked though
The manufacturing of products that are E-Waste pisses me off. This is the world we created for ourselves by not making our own products. In the end, it will cost us everything.
ARGH IM SO MAD
Problem is they all end up on landfill rather than being used in people's homes

@@NateC556Matpat from The Game Theorists, I believe
00:37 😂 Gotta love his schedule
that wireless mouse you used in the comparison is what I use for school and work, bc its good enough for me to click things 4000+ times bc the program my work uses doesn't always pay attention to clicks so you have to spend the first 20 minutes of your day clicking one thing to get the prep system open
I came here for the love of Princess Auto, got a surprised throwback to Skee-lo that warmed my heart.
7:11 is the greatest LTT edit of all time. Fight me.
Missed a massive opportunity to let MatPat say 'But that's just a Tech Theory' at that section
Even funnier, that peripheral package brand was **Tech Theory**. So yeah, maybe it could have been a joke.
@@wondr.ful.That is the joke in the first place
2:53 Shoutout to Second Wind and Yahtzee 😎
Linus should make a pc for matpat because he is leaving.
Tech Theory would be a great collab channel.

Sans is actually Freddy Fazbear!? GAME THEORY EPISODE 742
Fit my hand very well and kept my fingers from spilling over and rubbing across my mousepad (big deal for someone with sensory issues)
BTW that "fire button" is a macro that spams left-click :D
They also sold keyboards aswell, these were probably their best product with the one i had being a METAL chassis TKL with actual cherry red switches for like 60 euro!
1:09 "I didn't realize the US army was so into merchandising"
well they have to pay for the crayons somehow
That's the Marines.
Eat the Rich
12:00 - I wonder if the color of the desk pad is part of the problem. When doing the big swings, the mouse is out on the black part. Maybe the sensor is so bad it can't pick up motions on black.
2:33 Did they mean a hotkey?😂
24.99 at princess auto currently. The mouse and keyboard in this kit sells at dollar store for 5$ each. We have them both for the 1 year old to play with.
I do play with a princess auto mouse and I liked it so much bought one for my son's PC. It has like 4 adjustments for dpi. I often switch through them depending on the game.
2:43 .... linus.... was that a .. . freudian slip perhaps? haha
Why did you buy a deathadder essential...
Loved the little nod to Yahtzee Croshaw very nice
i can CONFIDENTLY say this was the best segway i’ve ever seen on this channel
Every time Jordan comes on screen my heart skips a beat.. WOOF!
i loved the hamlet reference, after linus said the line it really made me think to myself "to be or not to be"
I have that wireless mouse at 13:10, except with a red scroll wheel.
Good transition to the segway, you've earned my like
Linus' wrap up is spot on. Not only are they unusable and more marketing buzz words than actual substance, they're also instant e-waste even before they come out of the box and if there's one thing we can use way less of is more plastic and electronics ending up in landfills and the ocean.
MatPat isn't even gone yet haha
That mouse that was in the Gaming Kit - I got one from Dollarama in Nanaimo for ... $4.00 CAD. Obviously not for gaming, but when I packed my laptop for a work trip to Tofino, I forgot my mouse at home. Works well enough in emergencies.
12:22 those helicopter hands lmao 🤣😂🤣
@linustechtips, what I’ve found is that a cheap laser mouse works better against a white pad. Test it out that way. At the end of the day, though, a mouse should work with whatever surface you are on.
The jokes in this one hit really well. Well done!
4:28 I love that I'm not the only person who wears the I Am Kenough hoodie. 😂
I will always suggest a cabled Razer Deathadder for people on a budget. I got one off of eBay almost 10 years ago for around like $40-60AUD, and it is still running. They are practically unkillable.
10:40 it's okay Linus we'll eat you last. :)
Did David get upgraded to a Writer? Cause hell yea I freaking love him! He Is "Ken Enough"
>$11
I got a similar 1000 dpi one for $2 but not in usa. plastic wears off and you might want to remove the added weight inside
I am a REDRAGON user and I am quite happy with how their gaming mice, webcams and speakers perform. Also headphones.
@2:43 hahahah Fart Dog, now theres a brand that you dont want to get behind
I'd been hoping for a Princess Auto Gaming video for so long, thank you for this
There's an ancient druidic saying, from the lowlands of Britain- "Just because gas station sushi didn't make you sick, that doesn't mean it's any good."
I LOVE seeing David in more videos!
I have a Razer-knockoff mouse called a "T-Dagger Warrant Officer" and it works surprisingly well!
i remember a couple years back i had a razer deathadder chroma and they had a refund policy of two years, but every time i sent it back they refreshed the two year warranty on the one they sent back to me. they were most likely refurbished from what they were sent back from other people, but regardless they couldnt seem to send me a mouse that lasted longer than two years (ngl the mouse itself was normally fine, but the wires would always get broken from the simplest of bends) but i figured if i could get a free mouse every year, then id never have to buy another mouse again lmao. eventually after the fourth send back they finally sent me one that lasted longer than two years. it didnt make it to three, but i still got a pretty good deal out of how much customer service i was offered on refunds. this was years ago, not sure what the refund policy is now, but i bought a razer mamba for a replacement since it was a bit cheaper, but this thing has lasted for like 4 years now i havent even thought about getting a new mouse in a very long time since i really dont need one. moral of the story is refund policies are important lol
I've got to be honest. I don't think I've ever seen somebody grow out their beard this fast, that's impressive
Also I can vouch for that Sharge bank, it's a bit spendy, but it's really cool, durable, and holds a ton of charge.
9:35 Awww. Linus misses Matpat as well.
Ahh that transition into beardless Linus scared me, more than any jumpscare.
While I know this goes out of the budget entirely
Spending $70 on a Deathadder v3 wired. Zero complaints, light, no blinking lights at you and a great sensor
i freaking love your videos, there is nothing better than watching your newly posted videos on work😅
David's style choice in today's episode screams "I enjoy diaper play!"
How's nobody mention how good that drill sergeant impression was. Was not expecting that.
The best low budget mouse I bought was the Hyper X Mouse for 13.99$ off the big A... Thanks for the video you guys Rock. :)
