He was the real deal. Note perfect, he could deliver even if it was just with an acoustic guitar. That's the sign of a real artist. What a wonderful soul he had. I miss him.
Pipkin Hopkins Roy still sounded pitch perfect with a cold!, he would drink coke and chocolate milk before performing and have a smoke. Everything your not meant to do before performing he still sounded the best, never even had a singing lesson or vocal coaching!
greatest male vocalist of all time in my opinion. His voice...where do I start...had such a (pardon the pun) dream quality....his voice could take you anywhere when listening to it...and what a range ! and the best part about it, he made it look completely effortless!! ...But he was also a very humble and beautiful person....you are missed Roy...this is coming from a 22 year old man
I'm still waiting for one of those youngsters that audition for those singing talent shows we see every year to get up and have this quality of 'voice'. Imagine one hitting those notes and singing this song? Female judges would melt, swoon. It'd be a done deal. R.I.P. Mr.Orbison. We lost a part of music when we lost you.
Visceral, beautiful and completely enchanting!!! Roy said before death that all he wanted was to be remembered. Anybody who enjoys this tune PLEASE at least click "like" to honour the memory of this genius!! RIP ROY!!!
such a classic--no one has ever come close to him in his range and perfection-he is a god in the vocal world--clarity and tone will prob never be surpassed--this is the voice that we will only hear in our dreams and in heaven.
simply awesome....his voice will live forever.....thank the lord for the wonders of technology to be able to watch and listen to this man today and forever....
Its still a tear jerker from the time I was 13 listening till now 51 . wow I can't get tired of listening to it ,its like the first time hearing it. It still blows me away the voice the octaves.
Yeah, Roy wrote it himself. He was one of the greatest Songwriters in the world. Just the hit lists did not have a taste for his music, he deserved more number 1 hits.
I can't agree that he was one of the greatest songwriters in a world with Bacharach, Wilson, Webb, Costello, McCartney, Dylan, Gershwin, Wagner, Bach to name but a few - one of the greatest vocalists/performers for sure though!
You can really hear a lot of mariachi influence in some sections of the strumming and chord patterns and then it just changes on a dime to something else. Fascinating talent and synthesizer of musical textures. Wish he could have done one full album of acoustic only versions of some of his old hits with Rick Rubin like Johnny Cash did. 😎
Loved his music since I was six for 34 years thanks to my mom and grandma and I saw blue velvet when I was 14 after hearing about it in magazines and movie books and movie review books and internet.
Roy Orbison was not blind. The sun glasses were Roy Orbisons trade mark. There is 2 stories as to why he started wearing sun glasses in concert. The first one was that Roy forget his proscription glasses before a concert and the only glasses he had were proscription sun glasses, he went on stage with them and he never took them off. The other story was that he was very shy person and this was the way he got over his shyness on stage.
No mate, this sound was written by Roy in 1962 and released Single in 02/1963 by Monument Record. Claudette was died in 6/06/1966. His two sons died in house fire in 09/1968.
Roy wasn't blind put glasses were coke bottle thick. He was greatest singer ever IMO. What a voice. If you want to see the worlds next greatest singer, check out little Connie Talbot. 11 years old in November and she can sing like you just can't believe. Came in 2nd on BGT when she was 6. Should have got 1st but didn't mainly cause of her age. She has 2 or 3 gold and platinum albums to her credit now and a DVD and 2 or 3 guiness world book records for the albums and hits on utube. She has got t
@mgbay he wrote this song after his wife sadly died in a house fire with one of his childern so sad when he was touring. hence he's dreaming of his wife only in dreams ....... powerful tune .
There is just no other voice like Roy Orbison xx 🙏🙏😁

Can’t ignore the choir in the back ground though

I feel lucky to have heard this. Astonishing singing. Beautiful, elegant, haunting and he makes it look effortless. What a uniquely talented man.

I saw him perform live on Saturday Night Live. It was great!!! The stairwells at NBC made it sound magical.
simply awesome....his voice will live forever.....thank the lord for the wonders of technology to be able to watch and listen to this man today and forever....
one of the most unique singers there ever was, and a heck of a song writer too. beautiful.
The voice that only a angel could have...and he was ours for a while....we were blessed...
There are no words I can find other than simply beautiful
I'd be fine if the afterlife consisted of Roy doing a rendition of this single song, and then oblivion.
I actually prefer this toned down version!
You only get one of each Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison
"No description available" None needed. Beautiful

Under the cloak of night, Roy's voice drifts into dreams like the lullaby of a starlit nightingale.
Great vocalist, great song. Thanks for posting this acoustic version!

This is a treasure from the master. Thank you so much. I wonder if there are more clips from this show.
Roy has always been legend to me. My dad also loved him.
This is the beauty of singer songwriters: one man bands anywhere anytime and create moments like this

@dawnjakeleah I believe it was jonny cash who told him to lower his voice in a bit of mick take at the difference between thier vocal ranges!
Can’t go past without playing this song. He made it on his beautiful voice alone❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing this video. First time I ever heard him playing by himself - not bad at all.

In Dreams was released in 1963, the house fire (in which TWO of his sons died) was in 1966. Best to get your facts right...
Great song, great singer, but fake recording. Watch his lips and where is the choire, that suddenly sings with him?
oldressiv Roy voice its live.
