As much as I love so dearly about this piece, I had a hard time finding a rendition that fully conveys its beauty..Most pianists seem to just go through the motion when it comes to this one. Lang Lang brought something new and breathtaking to this. The best version I've known so far. P.S. Can't believe there's a Lang Lang video on YT that's not over millions of views😉
This is the best performance of the 2nd movement of Pathetic I've ever heard. Very emotional, moving, perfect dynamics... heavenly music. Thank you Maestro LL!
It seems like the better one is at playing the piano, the more "fuzzy" one is with the coordination between the right and the left hand as if 2 people are performing these parts.
THIS IS NOT BY LANG LANG Look in the description: Sonata No.8 In Do Minore Op.13 - Grande Sonate Pathetique Alessandro Cesaro Chopin, Liszt: Chopin Collection - Piano Music
Lots of comments from Lang Lang lovers and haters. Listening to this puts me once more into the second group. No real depth, cheap ritertandi and no conclusiveness. Of course I don’t know how he played the first movement which would be so important for the second… but actually I don’t even want to… try Svjatoslav Richter, Friedrich Gulda or a funny although not totally accurate Annie Fischer… those a real musicians
I love Lang, but he could've done way better than that. I don't think this interpretation showed his best musicianship. Yet I can't say he screwed it, because this interpretation was supposed to serve the film. The film...is just a romantic comedy! What kind of depth do I have to expect from the pianist' interpretation. Anyway, it's all about business. Lang has done a good job in serving the film.
Horrible. Missing notes and too much hesitation. I'd hate to hear the 1rst movement yet alone the 3rd. Just awful. Apparently he's never heard of Vladimir Horowitz
C est la plus ennuyeuse interprétation que j ai jamais entendue. Mortel. Surtout le début. Adagio ne veut pas dire sans expression à force de ralentir le tempo il ne reste plus rien.
Very good : for the moment compared to what is quoted on u-tube before you, you have the best interprétation , because you are slow and « heavy » in the way you are playing it ( especially in thé begining)…
Can YOU play this section, or the entire piece better - that’s IF you’re even a 🎹⁉️ I have been one for more than 1/2 century, and there are a number of sections in this that are very difficult. Lang Lang is THE MOST talented pianist ever imo (incl those who are no longer living)!
@Elaine Meyer I love playing this piece, i had a nice experience of playing this sonata in Kings Cross St Pancras on Saturday,i really enjoyed playing it on the piano, Lang lang performs this beautifull lovely tempo, dynamics and phrasing, fab, thanks for uploading the video.
@@adrianthomas6244 Thanks for your reply. I also used to play it, and the Appassionata sonata (maybe you do as well ?) - both of them still being favorites of mine. I have 2 separate videos on YT of Lang Lang playing Beethoven’s Appassionata - fabulously! (one has the first 2 parts, and then the 3rd part is in the other video, although they were from the same concert about 3 years ago) in case you’re interested.
@Elaine Meyer thank you very much, I will have a look at them, and yes I can play the appassionata 1st and 2nd, but I left it for a while, so going through it again, today I managed to go through all of the 3rd movement waldstein sonata, very patchy and in some areas not making sense yet, but I am pleased with the achievement, though it is very taxing on my brain, 🧠 especially as humbly speaking I am teaching myself to play Beethovens piano sonatas, I am mostly self taught, I taught myself to play the piano at the age of 15, I am 52 now, 53 this year, music is a wonderfull gift from the almighty God Jehovah, and playing the piano is the best gift with regards to music, greetings from wales uk.
@@adrianthomas6244 I’m so sorry for not replying to you sooner, but I had completely forgotten. I hope you’re making good progress on your 🎹 playing! Where are you from in Wales if you don’t mind me asking? I had a boyfriend in ‘15 for a few years (who since has passed away) who was from Cardiff. I hadn’t made it there yet, but I will be in and in several areas this coming August though. BTW: Did you ever find and have a chance to watch Lang Lang’s performance of the ‘Appassionata Sonata’?

Daniel Barenboim version is the one to go for.

Wow he’s so talented he can play without even moving his hands!! 😧😧
😂😂 and his eyes shut
Lool
Just like Putin.
Makes me feel rather pathetique in comparison :/
Шланг шланг. Звучит и не играет
Barenboim's "Pathetique 2nd movement" is also very worth a listen to. I have to say I like both versions.
Rudolf Serkin's interpretation is my favorite. This is a really interesting take and definitely modern. Serkin's version I think is from the 1940s.
Whatever he plays, how he wanted to play, it’s a masterpiece
Pleasantly surprised at the emotional resonance,! yet, the lyric of the melody did come through in a very different way.
Beautiful!
Cudnie zagrane. Uwielbiam słuchać Pana interpretacji.

Maravilhoso
This is a long way from Lang Lang.

What about that is ironic?
Where did you get this from?
Maybe from Japanese movie “Nodame Cantabile”.

Try Barenboim and you will only listen him after
It is a strange rendition......
Is better than Baremboin version?🤔

Sorry, but you don’t have the sense if majesty ; among a lot of other interprétations, I pretend he is the closest to Beethoven’ spirit
