Noticed after your install that Scosche HA1717B trim kit has now flat black under the silver, so the two options to get it gloss black is with vinyl wrap, or by removing the silver pieces by clipping the melt rivets holding it in place and doing a DupliColor spray paint job, then superglue it back in. Some of the pics in the listing show this option.

Great information btw, I was planning to get the harness from broly too since I was trying to find a plug-n-play solution. Maybe you can make a video and go thru all the features that you keep with the aftermarket headunit. Such fuel mileage, the streering wheel control, Bluetooth, phone call, etc.

I dont understand how people care so much about their gas mileage. I bought the metra kit had zero issues. Installed myself. I have a 2015 Ex-L with blind spot lane watch or change. And worked flawlessly. For stereo I have a Pioneer W4400NEX I have a Rockford fosgate P400x4 for mids and highs. And Skar Rp1500. All connected to a pair of kickers. I ran individual speaker wire to the front doors and ran a new bluetooth mic in place of the factory. If your an Audio person the gas mileage imid wont bug u. I dont know why everyone makes it a Big Deal.
It's a matter of preference. I have ocd and having a screen in my dash that does nothing would drive me nuts. There were lots issues with the Metra kit. Most issues wasn't resolved until the past year or so. People were constantly having problems with Metra kit crashing and/or numerous functions didn't work. Sounds like a nice setup. I'm a huge audiophile and it bugged me. Again, to each their own. It's ok for everyone to have their own likes/dislikes.

So I have this kit with the Pioneer Avh-W44000nex, it wireless android auto with Wireless Apple Carplay. And you use your phones maps or wAze wireless and alot of the stereo features. Again all I care about is my Stereo The Imid is needless for me for gas mileage.
Good clip but it is so damn slow. I set playback speed to 1.5x to make it sound like normal speed. Anyway, when I pulled out mine, both the top (head unit ) and A/C control panel came off. I had to separate them after removal and put the A/C control panel back on. This clip actually answers my question in regard to separating the head unit from the front panel. My plan is to replace my factory head unit with a used head unit (from ebay) but those used ones are badly scratched or broken here and there. I'm hoping that I can use my flawless front panel with the replacement unit. My problem is broken bluetooth (it does not turn on at all) and I believe bluetooth module is built in the head unit.
Sure you can swap them. I removed the faceplate from mine when I buried it into the dash. I went on a mission to see how much could be removed from the factory unit to make it as small as possible.. Yes, it is built into the head unit.
Does this work for 2013 Accord EX-L? I see videos of people with one screen. I have two. Will it work for me as well and I plan on installing a touchscreen aftermarket unit.

Not as tough as it looks. Definitely took some time and patience but totally worth it. I also received great customer service and speedy responses from exGP throughout the whole purchase/install process. Definitely recommend his harness.
I recently installed an aftermarket head unit in my EXL. In order to keep the navigation I had to relocate the factory HU in the trunk and extend most of the wires. It was very time consuming!
Hey the head unit I bought has the reverse wire, steering wheel remote wire and prk sw wire on the back of the headunit. Do you still need those wires connected with this harness

hi, I own a 2015 Honda Civic Europe, I have installed an Android Car Tablet but now I can no longer adjust the time on the i-mid display. Before, I could do it with the Honda Connect system. Are there any solutions? I have seen that Hondas that do not have the Honda Connect navigator can adjust the time directly on the i-mid. Thank you
so just to clarify, if I did this without the harness, the top screen wouldn’t work at all? or would I keep the back up camera and mileage for imid? This is all new to me and I only want the top screen for those two features.
Something I’m curious about but nobody’s said yet is... does the lame watch still work, everyone says the backup cam works but what about the lane watch camera in the mirror?
That is a good question. I have the sport which does not have that feature but I'm pretty sure it would still work. The harness creates jumpers which powers both the factory headunit as well as the aftermaket headunit (power, acc & ground) and redirects the line level outputs from the factory headunit to the aftermarket headunit. All of the other features such as backup camera are still directly connected to the factory headunit which allows them to function as normal.
Instead of an after market stereo I want to keep the factory stereo and put it in the lower cubby like you show. And then use an iPad mini as my screen in the spot the stereo originally was located. Is that possible?

I have a 2016 Honda Accord ex coupe And a Kenwood dmx470s The installer Installed it with the metric it and my back up camera and Blindspot camera and SWC don’t work. So I’m puzzled I think he don’t know what he was doing. so none of that works prior to the Kenwood I had a Honda touchscreen factory radio

You can get it in there without cutting anything, but it's a bigger pain. With all of the connections I have I wanted a little more space.

Yeah it's possible. It would actually be easier than shoving a massive double-din headunit into the dash along with the factory head unit.

Metra doesn't have every option if you have a Touring Model, and can't add Custom wallpaper

Add an aftermarket head unit with CD player. Mine has a dvd player. It will fit. It's really tight, but it'll fit.

Can I just shove the factory radio underneath the aftermarket radio and create my own power and ground ? I will be using external amplifiers.
That would probably work. You'd still need to tap into the ac controller with to get the illumination working.
