A season two would almost be too much because the story was so beautifully wrapped up but I would love to see it regardless
Why ?
This scene really blew me away. For most of the anime we see Nagara as this apathetic inverted student.
His journey goes from being adrift from his life and self, to him running back towards his future.
As Mizuho and Nagara run, the growing distance between them was anxiety inducing, but it only showcased how determined Nagara was to get back. When it pans to Mizuho watching Nagara run, it reflected my own realization of how resolved Nagara was on getting back. When it showed them holding hands, I could just imagine Nagara reaching his hand back, while never breaking his stride, to insure they got through together.....I really loved this anime.
Seeing Nagara from behind, he reminded me of Nozomi :*)
And don't forget, when they might have faltered, Asakaze was supporting them from behind ~
Tbh I can't hold my tear especially when nagara got blamed and run away. but this scene, this song, how Mizhuho sees Nagara from behind, how Nagara holds tight Mizuho, it just blew me away. Shingo Natsume (the Director) knows how to convey messages not only from The story but also from The visuals, The music he chooses and how The character develops. these anime have their own place on me. but sadly Nagara did not fulfill his promise to Nozomi :(

this anime really helps to forget. When I watched the last episodes of Sonny Boy, I did not believe that this wonderful world of fantasy and absurdity would come to an end. all this made me remember those wonderful summer times when we, happy and carefree children, ran through the fields, met the sunrises and saw off the sunsets. I miss those times so much. now I'm sitting here, looking at the monitor and I realize how sad it is. everything is so gray on the street, the environment is so hypocritical, everyday life is so boring. Okay, that's it, I'm grumbling from fatigue. do not pay attention.
don't think of it like that my friend. i get how you feel, i get how easy it is to see all of the horror and sit down, to catch a breath, anot wanting to stand up again But althoug you might already know, i would like to say it again. we're all adrift. all the love, the passion, the cries and even the loneliness... i know is hard to see it but they share meaning as you live on. as you let go of judgement and questions, and let go to kindness, gratefulness and a little surrealism. our world is as crazy, diverse and beautiful right now as the things we saw in this anime. art is just a refletion of it after all. maybe i'm talking too much, but for me, i know that this anime for once didn't surprise, it didn't shock me, but it got me thinking and looking at every detail as i had never done before, the kindness of the Nozomi, the need to save of the student council boy, the numbness of nagata, the incessant curiousness of Rajdhani, i know they were all different peiople, but it was all human. human in a way i can't describe. human in a way that doesn't die. no amount of concrete can kill that humanity that regardless of souls or not seems to invade our interactions with each other. although rarer and further apart, i belive in those moments, and i belive that sonny boy does too. that's what soony boy meant for me. hope. i wish for you to see the world through rose tinted glasses and a passion for the unknown again. love you, whoever you are.
But somehow, Nagara and Mizuho decided to come back in this gray world.

Probably one of the best anime. Really what anime was, making you think, being able to ask the provocative questions in a way to show multiple approaches without saying one is better than the other, rather the people of the groups demonstrate why the groups form and what keeps them together. To be able to question your reality and use your imagination in a real and course manner to dissolve the inner thoughts confined by what ever culture you may be in at this moment in the land you currently inhabit. There’s no need for “fan service” just tell a story that gonna make me cry 😂make me laugh and make me question wtf?! 😂
but asking the question isn’t good enough. Silently judging shadows on a wall in a cave is not my goal

This anime really got me with that "having whatever you want" thing because the fact that the characters in the story get whatever they want still decide to go back to the real world instead of staying there
It's not like I hate living but I mean imagine a world where you have everything and you get to die when you want I mean isn't that literally the definition of paradise

@@commenteroftruth9790 yeah but this is the anime we're talking about and it's not like the makers of it actually genuinely experienced what the characters do in it so it's kind of hard to think about it based off of someone else's hypothetical sense without any guessing about what it would be like
@@personguyguy yeah of course. You could come up with an infinite amount of ideas, perspectives, opinions, stories, anything. I think the anime is portraying their existence as a kind of neverending purgatory, where release only comes from willingly leaving it all behind to march towards a different unknown. I still haven't finished the anime because I don't want it to end, so I should do that.
Remember in the first few episodes where Asakaze flew off to explore the world and came back telling there isn’t anything out there? I believe he already found the exit at that point and this last scene prove it. HE HAS KNOWN THIS SINCE THE BEGINNING. Tho I could be wrong
Actually you have somewhat of a point, but it seemed like asakaze really wanted to go home in the island parts, but it also seemed like he got a kick out of being so power in the "this worlds". So it's possible that it was the case but it's also possible he never went to space, remember that even though they don't die and are in stasis nagara and mizumi still used space suits.

Do you remember in ep 5 at 22:05 when aki sensei confronts azakaze we see azakaze mumbling " what a cruel world no one was being nice to me" while his skateboard was vanishing in that hole...
He used his skateboard in the real world but he soon realized that real world is meaningless and he returned.

I can relate so much to them, I was running away from our problems with my gf and our rope was love. I was like nagara determined and kept running but what I didn't realize is that the rope got tighter and I never realized that I was running with my gf, I was only thinking of myself unlike nagara he holds mizuho's hand and kept running, I didn't even hold my gf's hand and didn't look back to her, I just kept running and now I'm all alone, wanting to go back but I can't, for the people out there don't forget to look back and hold your lovers hand

The girl in the resutrant he works at in the last episode? I dont think she ever appeared in the adrift dimension, my interpretation is that she is a teaser for the potential future Nagara could have. The last episode leaves so many things open in the real world to show that Nagara still can choose his future to be what he wants it to be and now he has the power to choose after what he went through in the This worlds. I think her purpose is to show that there's more people besides Nozomi and Mizuho that Nagara could befriend and find a future with, and his smile at the very end of the anime really shows that.

I had some anime pending so I just finished Sonny Boy, I have some questions about it.
1) If Asakaze wanted he could have returned to the “normal” (even if it’s a parallel one) world and since when?
2) why Yamabiko didn’t return whith Mizuho and Nagara?
3) Why the cats of Mizhuho had to stay in that other world?
4) How was the teacher there and what were her real plans?
5) In the last episode they said nobody (of the original classmates) wanted to go back but that it was “easy”, if it was why no one of the other generation students left?
6) Was there any motive why only the students of the class 3-2 where in that scenario?
Ok so gotta put it there first: this anime is highly speculative and a lot of it is open to interpretation so diff ppl will give diff answers. So I'll answer to some questions with facts provided in the anime and the rest with my opinion:
1-Whether he knew the way out before the mcs did or not is unclear cuz it wasn't an obvious nor simple thing to discover but based off their last dialogue it seems he knew at some point probably through God or the fake teacher. Even if he didn't know, maybe he located Nagara & Mizuho due to the compass copy they had, perhaps the cat pointed him to it since it was mentioned that the cat can tell the status of all things. Now whether he wanted or not is also unclear cuz from the first eps he was one of the students who wanted the most to get home but then after he got accommodated with his powers and seen their potential and the praise/admiration he got espec since the teacher started pampering him he might've changed his mind and preferred to stay a lil longer.
2-Here again it is unclear but Yamabiko mentioned that ppl who spent more than a certain amount of time adrift can no longer go home. Added to that the fact he's now a dog so what happens if he goes home where he's supposed to replace the "original" who is human, maybe it's impossible cuz they're incompatible.
3-That's another unknown the author seems to intentionally haven't addressed. We can only speculate, maybe it's cuz they're actually special beings not mere cats considering they have powers or because adrift animals can't replace originals like humans can when going home. There's simply no answer really.
4-That wasn't a teacher they explained that it was a student (they even showed she had a student skirt) who has the power to take the appearance of others. She took that of a beloved teacher to make it easier for her to make the other students obey her.
5-It was easy in the sense that all you needed to do is fly to space and reach a specific point. The solution in principle is _said_ to be easy since Hoshi's group for example had their traveling cube "ark" that seemingly can go anywhere, same for the fake teacher's bus which was shown to fly between worlds etc.
Although the _mean_ to go home is simple, knowing _what_ you need to do to go home was probably unknown to pretty much all except the main characters' group & Rajdhani and it's unclear who exactly discovered it. So going to a close point in space was supposedly easy but discovering that you needed to do that to go home wasn't something you discover easily.
Now after learning the discovery it seems all the other students lost interest in going home after 2 years have passed. Reasons could include that they got comfy in a world where they don't die nor age and have powers but also that they didn't accept the tradeoff they have to pay to go home which was mentioned but not explained in much detail, the only ones we know or that I recall are that they'd miss 2 years of their original lives and the risk they may not retain any of their memories & experiences they shared while adrift.
6-In the beginning we're shown that only that class went adrift but later in the Babylone Tower & Yamabiko's past eps we learn that many other classes have also gone adrift at different points in time.
For the number 5 i think that because they stayed for too long that this world has become an another home for them. They have nowhere to go. Because they're just clones, not the original. So they made up a new home - this world. And even if they come back they'll not know how to continue to live as 2 years have passed.
Another idea, I think this movie is about growing up. The students there are stuck in a new world, unable to grow up (there's a passage that mentioned about "Neverland" that I can't remember) and only those who have the courage to face it are able to move forward. About this is shown very clearly about the conversations between Nagara and Nozomi. The students who choose to stay are the kids who don't want to grow up, those who stay too long are the ones who forgot how to grow up. And those who come back, accept to face life and grow up.
Well the movie itself has great idea but seems like they didn't invest it enough.

@@MrYjgh there's no reason to believe that because they spent as much time as the students in the adrift dimension.
Now if you're talking about their biological age pre-drift then only one of the cat dies of old age and they never said that was the reason.
I'm sure if they could they would since they truly wanted to remain by Mizuho's side so it makes no sense no to go for age reasons.
