2021 had too much competition... Revue Starlight Movie came out same year as this masterpiece, and that was also one of the best anime movies made in decade, but it somehow did not get the attention it needed like this show.

Sonny Boy was a great anime and last 3 episodes elevated it to legendary for me, this song plays at episode 12 and along with the scene it puts you in a daze
It’s a show I adore but also hate but not really, if not for the last 2 episodes it would not be in my top 30 but those last few episodes spoke to me so much and it’s became a favourite just because of that. Episode 8,6 is very good to a my third favourite, them some of the rest are just ok, and very hard to follow episodes 7, what happened in that one…jk
Yeah I do remember the sountrack being quite good. The anime itself is...hard to describe. Subjective, doesn't tell you the plot, every episode feels like a teacher reading a chapter of a book and then turning and asking 'what do you think this meant?'. Very unique, to say the least.
Yeah! I saw someone describe an anime by making a line. On the leftmost part, there's the plot, and on the rightmost part, there's the meaning. They placed some trash power fantasy isekai on the far end of the left, as they have no real meaning and only exist for fights, I guess? Some normal anime were in the middle, and then Sonny Boy were at the far end of the right. I agree with their assessment! Definitely an interesting and intriguing anime, and the soundtrack truly does stand out despite that I recall it often being silent hah :D

The entire ost for this anime is one of my favourites. This song plays at a part of the story where there's a trippy montage of characters travelling through multiple dimensions, it was awesome af. Sonny boy as a whole needs more attention, i feel like it didn't get the praises it deserved when it came out.

The only difficulty is there are 2 completely different mixes of the album. Actually, it would be awesome to compare the same song American release mix vs Japanese release mix, since they're so radically different.
Even tho Sonny Boy might've been too "mature" or confusing for me to understand, and even if i watched it a year ago, i came to realize how meaningful the show was. I'm a bit late to this video, but I'm so happy to see you covering Sonny Boy's soundtrack, it's a massively slept on song. If you feel up to it, I'd ***strongly*** recommend experiencing Yamabiko's Theme for a video, it's a very long song but that's because listening to it is practically like watching/*experiencing* debatably the best episode of the entire amazing show. Honestly you should probably watch the whole show if you feel up to it, but honestly even if you *just* listen to Yamabiko's Theme with basically no context you'll almost certainly be getting an amazing experience. It's legitimately one of the most impactful OSTs I've experienced, it is a full story to itself almost.

This song was great, the magic for this song was definitely captured in the scene however when it was played, the starting da da da da, represents the barriers going down for when a train is going, the characters in the scene this plays in are making a sort of great desperate escape which the whole show had been building up to. This scene was fantastic because of not only Toe but the accompanying visuals which make so representative of what they were going through.
I have to throw in a suggestion for a full anime song listen for a tune that I think is insanely underrated since it's from a 00s anime no one cares about anymore. The ending theme to Gungrave. When the Sunset Turns Red by Scoobie Do. The 5 ish minute version. It combines strings with a funky rock tune in such a seamless way and the drums feel so viscerally in your face with some sick bass lines. Also some genuine vocal delivery with some nice breakdowns and guitar solo work too. It's just such a fun song
