On a more artistic level I don’t think I‘ve seen a show put pain so subtly into it than this one. And there is so much of it. Also I can relate on so many things: Growing numb to pain, Not caring about anything, but not because I don’t care, but because I lack the energy to, I call it: Doing a Shinji (Evangelion refrence) Almost Nihilistic. Feels nice to talk about it btw, I tried to spread the word, but you know how it is, you recommend shows, you watch theirs, but noone watches yours. Man I carefully curate and select recommend bc I know that person and know they will like it. -_-

On a more philosophical level I think Sonny Boy is a layered examination of the absurdity of societal structure and hierarchical relationships. 'The Social Contract' more or less. A series of give and take that ensures that we will all be treated equally and given a fair chance to succeed in our environment. Give up your inherent right to the earth, as all men have, so peace may prosper. Of course you and I both understand that the idea of equality is near unobtainable, not because there isn't enough, but because there are those who feel that their innate qualities make them exceptions to the rule like say your(or more specifically Akaza's) ability to move things with his mind in the world of the island or in a slightly more grounded way Ace's inherent talent at baseball. Neither of which they have any control over but serve as a justification for there dickish behaviour.If we apply the same thinking elsewhere we can see some striking similarities with a certain movement.

Since the show itself tries to leave many endings and questions unanswered I took quite a bit as it being the point of being not answered. (Weird sentence, but i hope you understand) The character I couldn’t understand at all was Hoshi tho (the leader of the resistance) First I thought he was an antagonist, but he developed into someone who seriously cares. Oh at that point if anyone is reading in in our convo- Spoiler alert lmao. Although it struck me as if At first he actually tried to be antagonistic, although the time spent on the island and hoplessness of escaping, made him take the reputation he built and using it to actually lead people to the best of his abilities.
Its better if it doesnt. Sonny boy has a small, yet devoted and relaxed community. An influx of more fans into the community would cause drama and get sonny boy to get labelled as 'overrated'. Its better if it stays this way

Really want this anime to grow, because it changed my mentality on life. I now am able to feel content with all my emotions. That is what true happiness is to me, but it may be different for you. Life will be awesome and then horrible in the split of a second. Being able to cope with that is something that I wasn’t able to do before watching this show.
This show is truly an amazing philosophical teacher, and it teaches it the best way it could: by not preaching but showing. from the start you get an alien feel from it and after the end, you might not even be able to explain through words what you learned, but you know you want ro live this way and look at life like this. It also has a name - optimistic nihilism
