I came to revisit the documentary after knowing about Mark's pass away. It is a big loss in the furry community, but it also helps to value those who today continue to make an effort to bring out the best side of this thing that so many of us love.
May he rest in peace, Mark.

I have too
I know a lot of us are coming back here to pay our respects to Sy. It's so weird to see such an influential figure of the fandom just gone like that. My condolences to those affected and rest in peace, Sy.
R.I.P. You made a space for everyone to feel welcome.
I didnt know what to expect clicking this. As a non-fur who doesn’t mind the furry fandom, this has educated me in such a way that now when i see furries, it leaves a smile on my face. I guess i was enlightened by it. Thank you.
Edit: Awww thank you all so much
The Hunter yeah, personally i just think you shouldnt make assumptions on things you dont understand
We stan people like you
Thankyou, we really need more people like you. People that will sit down, watch this, and learn about our community rather than automatically hate us or assume things about us. Thankyou! 😊
You should see the other side of this fandom, it would destroy everything else
Honestly before anyone makes assumptions about furries in a bad way i will tell them to watch this most of them won't but i support furries and think the internet has interpreted y'all wrong and nobody does research before judging.
i dont mind furries, but what i absolutely hate is people having nothing better to do than to bully people for liking something that doesnt do any harm at all.
Now that you put it like that, kinda sounds like the haters are stereotypical bullies you see on television!
17_RoxanneTeo Thank you! They think we are disgusting, horrible, and lots of other things :
Rogue Wolf Skywalker but he got reazon the bullies are stereotypes only hate somepeople just for something who they like only see yolo fans the people hate them because they see yolo i didnt see yolo but someone like that are a bully a person who bully you for a idiot reazon
Jetstream The SeaWing i understand you furries because i like ponies and so i experience the same thing :)
Knockers !! whats that supposed to mean?
Rest in peace Mark Merlino aka Sy Sable. Thank you for documenting his part in the early days of the fandom recording it directly from him and doing it so well and touchingly! I can’t imagine the courage it took to start the first furry convention in 1989! His efforts helped create a world where I can be comfortable being me! I’m happy I met him & recognized him for what he did. A life well lived!

They bonded over a subculture that didn't fully exist yet, built it up from scratch, fell in love at (a time when being gay was straight up illegal), managed to stay together all this time and still throw furry parties at their house with their friends.

The best Geek Love-Story
In December 2014, I was an edgy high schooler who really hated everything for some reason, and I was sort of an anti-furry, if you wanted to call it that, and once I made an anti-furry video that I really regret making. Then someone else, a guy named Blu the Wuffsky (probably not their real username) said that I needed to open my mind a bit. I talked to them, then realized they were just like me: a person. Then I deleted that video and made a retraction video saying "You know what? I'm fine with furries actually." Fast forward to 2016-17 and being a junior in high school, I met my best friend who is a furry, and we talk together still to this day. Became a freshman in college in September 2018, met another furry, then in August 2019 we became boyfriends, though the relationship only lasted a little over a year. So in conclusion, you will become who you hate after a while, as I happen to be an autistic, bisexual furry.
You should look Blu up and tell them this. I'm sure they'd love to know they had such an impact on you.
Thank you for making this. My 14 year old son identifies as a "Furry". He's has ALWAYS really enjoyed dressing up in animal costumes, wearing animal theme pj suits, etc. He likes dressing as animals and I like making complicated costumes...so it's a win-win. I found this while searching for tutorials (I'm making him a full fursuit this year for Halloween). I had no idea there was a whole subculture around it!
That’s so wholesome!
Bs or not, the fandom is so underrated
That’s so awesome!!! Would love to see the fursuit :3
ma'am, or sir, or genderless person, thank you for being supportive of your child. your an amazing person. never forget that.
👑 Parents. Your son is very lucky to have such amazing parents.
My teenager sent this to me which made me ask them if they're a furry. I came from the narrow mindset of "it's a fetish thing" - THANK YOU for educating me on what it truly is. It's just a group of people who love the same thing. It's no different than the Whovian fandom that I'm a proud part of. I'm excited to learn more about this community and be able to be an ally and advocate for my kiddo 💜
EEEEEEEEEE HEY! Nice, yeah it's just another fandom. The internet LOVES to hate on them because it is SO accepting and there are a LOT of people who don't really fit in in other fandoms, or who are a little awkward to talk to, that stand out in other conventions, and they had no where to really go, so they got made fun of in other fandoms, ffff I have been part of this fandom since about 1995 and really have seen the good, the bad and the ugly of it all.
BUT I have to say, out of all the subculture fandoms out there, these guys are the most cuddly and inclusive, interactive and open group.
YEAH you get a LOT of fetishes in the fandom, they just append "fur" to it, like the adult baby fetish, they just say babyfur, or the leatherfurs, or the pony play ppl say ponyfurs and all that stuff. but its just so inclusive that well, there are a lot of sub groups of it now.
But furry as a whole is so fun, and when i go to these conventions, all i see are beautiful people, sharing art and stories, costuming and giving hugs, not judging eachother for being who they are, and they are so friendly, it's like the new hippie movement or something lol.
Anyway, thank you for watching this, and taking the time to understand your kids scene, it's pretty awesome.
I know a LOT of whovian furries too by the way, so it's like a happy mix of stuff, i am SO glad to see someone willing to understand their kid's fandom, I mean, that really is a great thing for a parent to do.
When i got into the fandom it was before the media made it into a fetish thing, my mom thought it was just cute and fun stuff ppl did, she thought it was weird but not as weird as half the stuff out there so she was cool with it. Luckily.
It helped my entire growth as a person, and me loving who i was and being able to express myself and be a cool kid lol knowing my mom accepted my scene and was totally fine with it.
Good on ya for being the cool mom, also I kinda envy the fact that you're into the who scene, my mom is... into literally nothing lol ida loved to go hang out with her at a dr who gathering or brought her to a cool convention and had her enjoy herself lol

@@UrbanRapier8310 they are made in so many different ways, they're are even makers that are "famous " in the fandom! Most fursuits are foam, fur, minky, fleece ect. Some younger furries are even getting creative enough to make those jurassic park dino masks into fursuits! Its all about creativity
My daughter showed me this to show me what the fandom is like. I’m glad this is here to eliminate the misconception. I actually went to a convention with her last year.
I'm glad she showed you this video it's very easy to get bad information about the furry Fandom especially on the internet because of how many people make it look
First of all, 1. They bring in extreme amounts of radioactive cringe. 2. Leviticus 20,15 says:" if a man has sexual relation with an animal, the man shall be put to death, and you shall kill the animal. " When the Bible said animal, it also meant furries. (All hail Jesus christ) 3. They are very annoying. When i was roasted a furry in roblox, they reported me, but didn't work. 4. The furry community is practically a place where u can express any thing related to gay, lesbian, etc. wich online can be very inappropriate and ruin children's childhood. 5. Whenever you furries get upset, you either bark and do nothing, or pretend your in a batman movie and gets pure 100% emotional damage from packgod. 6. 50% of furries demand litter boxes, scratch poles, and fursuits. Litter boxes are only for animals, not for humanoid animals. Scratch poles are for cats, not humanoid animals. How do furries even survive the summer, walking in suit that cover their whole body?
All these reason are agreeable to those who aren't furries and to the anti furry community and people with common sense.

We’re just a group of people using an age old tactic to express ourselves in ways we feel like we otherwise can’t-I get that it’s a niche thing and might make some people uncomfortable, but recognizing that it’s just a bunch of ppl having fun is a great way to prevent the hatred and harassment that furry’s often face

Not a furry, but as someone who is a general geek/nerd I can totally understand folks wanting to enjoy their fandom together. I'll admit I was judgemental a bit before seeing this and some other media. No longer. Do your thing. Have fun
thank you for accepting us you are awesome
Thank you for giving each of us a chance to feel accepted and welcomed by the so called “normies”
We are a wholesome and loving fandom with a common interest. I feel the reason why to this is that so much of the furry fandom are lgbtqia+ and some are neurodivergent, but still others are both.
Neuro divergent people, at least the ones I know, are generally more loving and friendly than most other people. Are there autistic people that are assholes? Yes. Are there ADHD people who are hateful? Yes.
LGBTQIA+ know what it means to hide your true self. Sometimes from families, maybe work, maybe friends. They feel that people should give them a chance and accept them for who they are. It’s only fair as everyone deserves a chance to be accepted for who they want to be (except ped0ph1les or murders)
The fandom gives us the opportunity to be able to have a character that represents us in many ways be that person we all want to be. It gives us the opportunity to find people who want to be free to be proud of who they are, and form friendships and relationships from it.
People have found love in the fandom, others have found long lasting true friends. I met met girlfriend through the fandom, she and I have been together for two years now. I would have never learned how awesome and beautiful a person she was if I had never met her and had something we shared.
The fandom is equal parts community, creativity, sexuality, and camaraderie.
The fact that there are people able and willing to want to see who we are without the broken lens of misinformation means much.
Thank you.
Nice, now you accept weirdos that abuse animals.
Often, perhaps it is simply a human trait, people will assume malice, harm, or secret sinister intentions for things they don’t understand. While I won’t claim that you were experiencing any of these, it is often why we are apprehensive towards things we see as ‘weird.’ I think recognizing that and making ourselves (at least) hear out others we don’t understand is integral to being more open. It isn’t easy doing this sometimes, but I commend you for going outside of your comfort zone to learn about others you didn’t understand. Hope you have a good day!

This documentary is extremely healing for me.
There was a point in my life where I started to accept that I was a furry, but then quickly went back into my shell and started hating furries because I didn't want to be cringe.
When I first started to get into the furry Fandom, I started to accept that I might be trans. I didn't know what it was, but the Fandom made it seem like something that was just fine to be.
But watching videos saying furries were wrong made me close off. It stagnated my progression with my identity. I hid away and hated myself for it.
I found my own path. I figured out who I am, it just took a lot longer, and a lot more painful.
Thank you. I needed this video.
Bro who cares what other people think this shit isn’t even a big deal. There are worse things you can like then anthro dogs and cats lol
Im not going to lie... I have been feeling the same for the past year ( not wanting to be cringe and so forth) ive always been interested The Fandom. I first found my first anthropomorphic characters (more human with ears and tail) from anime then found out there were a BUNCH of web novels and books out there featuring these type of characters. recently i have been reading the "you have been changed into a girl with animal features" books and it hit me as I watched this documentary.... I would not have minded being changed in the slightest ( well having to get new IDs would not be fun....) Ill have to make a trip down to a CON at some point when i have some extra pto... anyway i have rambled for long enough I hope to meet you guys at a CON at some point!

Remember folks: "The human mind rejects everything that it's different. It takes a lot of courage to overcome that factory setting. So don't hate the unknown before you see it's true colors in person"
I’m not a furry, but wow this is heartwarming. I believe so strongly that we all deserve to find a place for us - if finding enjoyment and inspiration in anthropomorphic characters brings you to that place, then that is a WONDERFUL thing!
Ik this probably will get buried in all the comments but it's something I need to get out of my chest.
I joined the fandom in 2015, i was probably around 13-14 at the time. I discovered it watching Telephone and it amazed me, I never knew I could make my own animal mascot and run around with it, it sparked something in my heart and in that instant I knew that I wanted to be part of it.
Then I started questioning my sexuality, found out I was Pansexual, and it scared me, in my country homosexuality is still not accepted as much.. and let's not even talk about my homophobic family..
The furry fandom was there for me, it always made me feel safe, it was a space where I could finally be myself without any fear of rejection, and that feeling only grew when I started making friends after my first furry convention, they're a really important part of me, and who I am.
I Guess what I wanna say, is thank you, thank you for making this documentary, it just hits so close to home that I actually cried while hearing this, if it was not for this fandom, idk where I would be, i'm studing animation because of this, i'm not afraid to show myself anymore because of the fandom.
Thanks a lot.. And to anyone who is reading this who's not a furry, everyone of us have our stories to tell, I hope when you see this you'll view the fandom in a different light, we are just people who enjoys being themselves, theres nothing wrong with that, and if you want to join us, we welcome you with open arms

So true. I just want everyone to love eachother. I know there are some people who say a bit mean stuff but probbably not intentionally and people need to lear to sometimes forgive and let some things slide. This will make the era less toxic❤️
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the fandom will never ever be "one".
People are jealous and shitty, people have mental illnesses that make them permanently behave in a toxic manner. Every known fandom is divided because of this, but shitty people have their own echo chambers, while wholesome people can have their perfect little hugbox ring of friends, away from each other. And that's exactly how it needs to be. Both can be themselves, without being forced to change to fit some mold. If they were, they would become bitter and ruin the fun for everyone else too.
The only challenge is finding your group.
Personally, in my country I browse the forums of new furries and direct them towards people with similar interests, sometimes into my own friend group too.
I was shy and scared of what would follow if people knew that I was a furry. I have been in the fandom for half of my life, yet only accepted it and got into the local furry scene 2 years ago. Closet furry if you will. For extremely shy me, to find a friend group, I only needed someone to grab my hand and lead me. I burned myself out studying and applying for jobs for 2 years straight, constantly pressured about it. I forgot entirely to have fun, and deep into depression, I thought, what do I actually like. And I rekindled my burning passion for all things furry. This was the best choice I think I have ever made, since I transformed from disposable personality-less overachiever to the Happy and confident myself that I am today.
Now I am the one to grab people by their hand. Even if only through internet in these troubling times, even if only 1 by 1, I do what I wish someone did to me eight years ago.
They way you introduce new people, affects how they will see the fandom as whole. They are the future of the fandom after you, and they along with you with your actions, shapes how the fandom is TODAY.
I know a story about an underage furry going to a very alcohol based convention, and hating all furries afterwards. While it is their own fault that they bursted their own bubble and thought what they saw was all there is, it could have been prevented. Now this hater of furries has a chance of becoming radicalized in the future. So look after each other.
I'll second that! Toxicity has no place in the furry fandom. People with differences of opinion can either avoid those topics entirely, or better yet sit and have a discussion about it and still come away from it as friends. The rest of society can keep the hate and toxicity. The furry fandom is our little island of escape away from that crap.
You’re content made my day thank you
ehh, there tends to be a lot of social media drama between furries on a consistent basis but that happens everywhere in any community if I'm being honest.

Besides, they did bring up the topic. They also made it clear they don't want to go into detail.
Unto my dying breath, I will never understand furries, but I don't need to. All I need to know is that they're some of the nicest folks I've ever known.
Out of the hundreds of them I've met, only a single one was a bad person. I can't say that for any other group that comes to mind, even groups I belong to.
So whatever it is that makes you people be what you are, keep being that. The world needs more people like you.

well, that's not the best answer ever, but from a non-furry, i'll take it, least you're not joining in the hate.
@@UltimateGamerCC I mean, I think you're reading too much into when I said I don't understand you guys. Not understanding something isn't something you can help, and it also doesn't imply anything negative. It just means it's not my thing, personally, subjectively. Yeah, I'll never understand it much like I'll never understand why some people put mayo on pizza, but I have no doubt that the people who do that truly enjoy it and that's all that matters.
I know NOTHING about the furry culture, so I found this fascinating.
I won't lie, it's not my cup of tea, but I don't really understand why people hate on it so much. It seems harmless.
My theory is that they are either furs in denial, overcompensating when trying to seem normal,or just hate them because they were told to
Not a fan of furries but they honestly don’t deserve all the hate they get, their just being themselves and their actually very chill and nice people!!
Hating on furries for doing there own thing is like hating on car guys because they mod their basic cars to do what modern super cars can do and tell them "if you want a fast car just buy a fast car" and they dont realize that people mod slow cars to be fast because they can't afford a fast car like a Ferrari or Porche
@@Weird_Cat_Thingy i remeber before i accepted that i was a furry, i was in denial for a while, acting like a mild anti fur but now im a furry, id never admit it to most of my mates. As well as that im also a car nut and am actually learning motorsport engineering in collage. In the end we are all people, there is a line and furries arnt that line, not the actuall majority we see in this documentry.
Thanks! Also i agree with initial d style. its also like hating on cosplayers when its sort of the same exact thing.

This'll probably get lost but, I'm a young furry and watching this was so wonderful, at moments I actually started to cry because even though a lot of people I know don't mind, the majority of people around me are very rude and mean just because they don't understand besides the harmful negative stereotypes, I wish everyone could see this. The furry community has helped me through so much, I've gained confidence, I've come out, I've been myself and for this to be out here, it's beautiful. Thank you.
I wish you the best of luck my friend
Be proud. be onapologetic when they harass or put you down. . thats something young people have nto been taught, the will to not be afraid to shock people and be free to be who you want to be.to do it and not care if people hate. When others ee you fend off enemies, they will be drawn to your strength and your positive character.
i give to you all my hope that those people may see the errors and the wrongs in how they treat furries
hello fellow furry
I’m a youngfur too! I feel how you feel. Generally my family is fine with it. My friends are too, but they still thought it was weird that I was in this fandom. I’ve never had an irl furry friend. And I don’t even have many online furry friends either. But the furry fandom is what keeps me motivated to grow and improve. It’s probably the community I’ve felt the most at home in. I love this fandom and the people in it. I wish you luck!
im not a furry, but i will say this, the furry community has been the the kindest people I've ever met, they all treated me with such respect and love and in return so did i, to all my furry friends, i love you and thank you
I went to Anthrocon for the first time this year, and it was like I had walked into a world wear no one was judgmental and everyone was just being themselves. I felt so happy, it’s true, it’s like I had come home. The only other times I’ve felt like this are when I go to EDM shows and festivals or Pride. The furry fandom is truly a special place.
i also went to anthrocon for the first time this year!! i agree with you so much, it was literally lifechanging imo. it's so refreshing to be surrounded by people being unabashedly themselves
Old Grey Muzzle Furry here. This is an excellent look at the fandom. Growing up in the 70's in Australia, I knew I was a furry without knowing what a Furry was. Its wonderful to be able to openly express ourselves now with Conventions and Fur suiting events.

Oh dang really?? That's cool
Woah! That's dope!
Rest in peace Mark. You made something that changed many lives forever.
I joined the fandom in 2020 and it changed my life forever. I am a autistic introverted person who never felt like he belonged anywhere and had almost now friends. Now I have made so many friends who accept me for who I am and have the same interests as me. I joined my very first furry convention at South Afrifur 2022 and those were the best days of my life. I also started streaming and that my life even better cause I now can entertain people and make them happy. All of this wasn't possible without the furry fandom and from the bottom of my heart I want to thank you for that.
As someone who isn't personally a furry, but who has loved ones that are, I would like to thank the creators of this documentary, and all the people involved in the furry community, for showing such an informative documentary in such a compassionate way. What I have learned in my forty years on this planet is that even though people are all vastly different, it's those differences that make us beautiful. I would hope that anyone who watches this can look past their own biases towards those who are not 'main stream' and treat everyone with the compassion, love, and acceptance that we all deserve as human beings.
@@GodHatesMe222 You come to a documentary that literally dispels your prejudices, and you come and spew out prejudice in the comments like an utter buffoon. How ironic.
I didn't quite grasp how important the furry fandom was to me till I watched this, it really is something beautiful, and so human. I'm not very active in the community, but it definitely helped me learn things about myself and others.
Rest in peace Mark, thank you for bringing so much joy to so many people ❤
Rest in peace Mark Merlino!!! Thank you for helping bring us the gift of this fandom. ❤️
non-furry here, I love how positive this documentary is. I have a lot of furry friends, and I've seen a lot of negative furry content. This was a really interesting documentary, I had no idea the history of the furry fandom was so extensive. Definitely sheds a new light on the fandom.
I appreciate you for accepting furries.
@@L_m1n3scent-0bscur1tie5, those who hate them just don't know anything and believe the first thing they read on internet.
Im sad that the furry vs gamer war began. Its one of the actual wars that hurt many- no not like harm, like mental harm. I remember losing a best friend in the war, i was a gamer back then when the furry vs gamer war began. I remember the exact day the furries turned her into one of them. After, my best friend rarely spent time with me, she morely spent time in her community. I used to hate furries so much for that... I thought they were vicious creatures. I vowed to avenge my used-to-be best friend. As soon as she turned into one of them i knew we couldn’t be friends with her. But watching this document changed the way I saw furries. If I was really my best friends BEST FRIEND i needed to realise that i need to accept my best friends actions no matter what. I started to not hate furries anymore. But I will never bcome a furry. I am gamer goose forever, and I’ve already vowed to the gamer-girls that i would never become one of them. I do not hate furries with all my guts anymore. I’ve learned to love and accept furries and the way they live. Thanks to this document, I now understand what it is like to actually be a furry.
I will literally say to my family
"hey can we watch a movie?"
'sure! wich one?'
"it's called ""the furry fandom""
If you do, tell us what happened.

I actually, asked my friends to watch this documentary wirh my friends. One of the anti-furs from the class had passed his "Deny" stage of being a furry. Now he already have a fursona, and think about his hates towards this family.
@@lehhixstarderg4627 I was there once. Furries ruined a Pokemon RP forum I had about Pokemon in a swords and sorcery fantasy setting, and I hated them for it. Given enough years, I slowly converted and now I'm the only one among them who owns a fursuit and goes to conventions. Funny how the things we hate are the things we actually end up liking sometimes.
Cool movie
I’m not a furry. I watched this thinking I’d get a laugh out of it. I was surprised to learn the interesting history behind the community. I think this documentary was very well done. Good to see that they weren’t afraid to shine light on some of the problematic parts of the fandom, even if the minority of creeps don’t represent the whole community.
Interesting how furries have been intertwined with anime since the beginning.
I don’t plan to become a furry or anything, but I have gained a bit of respect for furries. Sure, furries are goofy and a bit corny in ways, but now I can see why people are interested in this stuff.

What?
stage 1: denial
Im okay with furries, they can do their things, but what i absolutely hate is that whenever they say something anywhere, there are always people that bully or just say anything mean towards them without _any reason_ or what i see on a daily basis is pictures that say "1 repost = 1 dead furry" like dont you notice that? youre wishing death to people who mind their own business and did nothing wrong, i still dont know the reason why everyone hates them so much.
Edit - Now after watching this entire video like 3 times, whenever i see a furry out there in public, it puts a smile on my face and makes my day better, when i see one that is taking pictures with others, i just want to take one too, furries are awesome.
sadly bigotry is bigotry, there is no real ryme or reason to it but people find ways to hate others for the sake of hatred and nothing more. Luckily many are not like this but many are silent to such things.
Many people think that furries think of themselves as animals, basically people don't know what therians are and believe that therians and furries are the same thing
Probably the biggest factor in this visceral hatred is that it's not actually felt on the other side of the computer screen. The Internet has a way of making people exaggerate things to the nth degree, which results in a lot of stupid, edgy garbage only teenagers would normally say being spewed out. One-upmanship is huge in online communities.
"Furries should be smacked." "Nah man, they should be flogged." "Nah, they should be hanged." "Nah, they should be skinned alive," etc. etc. You get the gist of it.
Some people legitimately do feel that hatred, but most of it is just people trying to get a rise out of us to impress their equally immature friends. Historically, furries have been bad about handling that kind of mockery and not understanding that it's intended exclusively to piss us off, so we got all defensive and stuff. I think we're figuring out how to handle it better now, though, which is also helping our image.
Humans don't really seem to like weakness, and furries have, in the past, exhibited a lot of it, mostly for reasons explored in this documentary (marginalized groups finding a place of acceptance and whatnot).
@Josiah Simpson Yeah, it's something you're interested in, if he doesn't accept you because of your interests then that ain't a friend, though.. be careful, if it gets out you could get bullied :/
I’m so glad I found this fandom(16 years old). The only thing is that I can’t tell anyone around me because they all hate furries and I would never see the end of it. I found out about this fandom a few days ago but I already know this is what I want to be apart of. This amazing, loving and unbreakable family. I am currently struggling with depression and suicide and I think this amazing fandom will help me . 🙂
Rest well Sy, your work is cherished, and you will be missed.
I have to admit…the last part spoke to me the most. I would have honestly never been so happy and have fallen in love with my girlfriend as much of it wasn’t for the fact that we share so much in common…including the fandom.
We have been together for two years and I honestly think what made me feel so happy with her was the fact that we could be free to express our furry interests, our love in video games, space, and more without being called weirdos and freaks.
The fandom has brought me so many friends and so many memories and helped me discover my sexuality. I can honestly say that this is a fandom that I never plan on leaving.
Thank you Mark and Rodney, uncle Kage (sorry if I butchered that), and everyone who helped make this the community it has blossomed to be.
I remember when my friend came up to me and said “hey you like a lot of things that furries like, I think you’re a furry. You should be a furry.” I just shrugged my shoulders and said ok I’m a furry, what the heck is that? And she sat me down at lunch and told me all about it. I was a little weirded out but got hooked on it real fast. And now almost 3 years later I’m sitting in my room watching this next to my 2 suits one made by her the other made by me drawing one of my characters. Thanks Scar for dragging me into this crazy fandom, best thing that’s ever happened to me.

Came back to remember Mark, never met the fellow but felt the need to come give my condolences to Rod and family for the loss of Mark
As an old furry from the 90’s and not as active since 2005, this made me cry and made me so nostalgic about the old times when everyone knew each other. I attended Eurofurence 8 in 2002 in which Kage was guest of honor. It was still a small convention and we all had the beautiful outdoors to hang out, BBQ, etc
White Wolf as a young fur it makes me so happy hearing about old furs stories, you made furry history!
Wow it feels like an honor being able to see a comment of such a long time member!

Yes, EF8 was my first convention, too. It was such a wonderful event, so welcoming and heartwarming. ❤️
This needs to be shown on Public TV stations if there is a chance. I feel this history could change people’s view on furries
I agree it would be great on TV, but I doubt the media is interested in showing the good side of anything

I would probably have nobody to talk to without this wonderful community. Most of the people I've met outside the fandom that aren't furries on't share my interests, and some of them are dismissive of my issues (ADHD and Autism). Meanwhile, the fandom is full of people who understand my needs, appreciate my interests, and are willing to help me grow and learn. agreed, a lot of people are either afraid or hateful of what they don't understand, its how humanity tends to function. We avoid things we fear and attack things we hate. Kinda like how the world wars broke out, everyone hated each other and so they fought with each other.
I'd hold reservation
Because this video only highlights certain aspects to make the Fandom look like societal paragons.
There's an ungodly metric ton of crap going on in the Fandom.
Mainly Politics right now.
If you lean anywhere other than Left, you will be attacked, doxxed and harassed.
I’m not personally a furry, but I love the fandom and love how inclusive everyone is in it. I think the concept of being able to put on a mask not to hide yourself but to show your true self is so empowering and truly something special. I always had a special place in my heart for fursuiters for their craftsmanship and the effort they put into their hobby, because it really does make me happy when people just unapologetically be themselves- especially the trans community in the fandom, because being able to try out pronouns and a new identity in the form of a fursuit is just incredible really. There’s no other fandom like it, and while I never found the appeal of being a big cuddly wolf I do understand how special it is to some people. I hope one day I can make it to a convention after quarantine, maybe wear a costume of my own, probably not one with fur since that’s not my style and a bit expensive but I’d love a chance to be who I truly am without judgement.
"I'm not personally a furry, but"

Honestly, wearing some ears, or maybe even a personalized hoodie is a really fun way to express yourself and stick with the themes! That, and most conventions will have themes, such as futuristic or streampunk, so that's also something fun to work with!
Mr_ Röhrs it’s more so drag really, both are the same in a way just on different ends of the same spectrum. I’d love to be part of the fandom but I really don’t get a lot of the things you know, it’s not really my thing. I wish it were.
