My favorite moment (and most emotional part for me) was after Ellie killed David and she cried in Joel's arms. And when Joel called Ellie, baby girl, I lost it. Because he called Sara his baby girl.
This game and Uncharted are the games that my mom will actually pick up and ask "Can you play this so I can watch?" She absolutely adores this and watches it like a movie. I also noticed that the antagonists were hardly the infected, but rather the other humans. They betray each other relentlessly, and that's interesting considering if this is connected to our world and the selfishness of others.
well tbh there were no antagonists in the game, which is another great thing about the game. The humans, can’t really call them antagonists as they’re just trying to survive. The infected? of course not
Its the only thing most people can think of that would set off Ellie like that. She seemed like a pretty balanced person (considering the setting and her situation) I dont know what would cause her to go on a murderous rampage other than Joel being killed.
One of my favorite part of the game is a series of letters and notes that you find during the sewers segment, it tells a story of a guy (Ish I guess is his name) that lived alone on a boat than he went to land and started to live on the sewer than he find some people that he start to care about and trust and in the end they all die and only he scape, letting a mensage written that you find by the end of the part "warning, infected not open". What is messed up is that the infected that you kill during that part were probably the people he cared for.
This was a homage to the classic 1949 post apocalyptic novel "Earth Abides" by George Stewart. Ish is the main character who survives a viral infection that wipes out most of humanity. He goes on a journey across the US (and back) recording what is left of civilization. It too is brilliant and worth reading.

Yup, they haven't made a bad game in years if not, ever. If you want a great game just give it to Naughty Dog or Insomniac Games which has never made a bad game even their early stuff doesn't feel super outdated compared to other companies.

I'll be honest; the game _didn't_ make my cry. It did make me feel extremely sad, though. As in, after a long session of playing it, I'd WANT to go back to playing when I left the house to do errands. Jesus, I never had a game do that to me before, haha. Patiently waiting for TLOU 2.
I really hope they continue the story in a believable way. I loved the ending of the first and was hoping they wouldn`t make a second which continues the same story. I guess we'll have to wait and see...
Virtuoso1 Have faith! Neil Druckmann, creative director, reassured fans that nobody loves TLOU more than the team that made it. They bounced around ideas for about two years and almost gave up. Apparently now they've come up with a story that is not just worthy to be told, but worthy of Joel and Ellie because that's what TLOU is really all about. Hopefully if the sequel doesn't improve the franchise, they won't release anything that might ruin its already notorious reputation. Story aside, just imagine the detail and mechanics on par or better than Uncharted 4!!
I got The Last of Us for Christmas last year for the PS4 and it was one of the greatest games I have ever played. And Falcon you were right, I felt so conflicted and confused at the end of it, I'm excited for what part 2 will bring

Adam Jones you are literally playing 99% of the time? Telltale games are interactive movies. If you can't say this game is one of the best games in history you're crazy. Not one game I've played has came close to the feeling I had playing the last of us.
I must be honest with you, Seeing as how Naughty Dog has managed Uncharted up to the 4th installment. I strongly believe that The Last of Us 2 will surelly surpass its predecessors and even win the GOTY award. It may sound biased but the history of Naughty Dog has proved again and again that they are game developers that don't dissappoint.

My favorite part in the last of us is in the beginning when sara dies, because it is the moment i knew this game was able to elicit emotion i had never felt before playing a videogame.. The authenticity of the characters is unmatched in anything ive ever played.. Honestly there are so many great moments in this story its hard to choose just one, but when hunting as ellie in the woods there was a sort of magic and awe that you can only experience when playing this game.
Fallout new vegas put me into a deep happy feeling after I literally smashed a deathclaws head in with a giant road sign and then ate its corpse in front of its children

My favorite part of The Last of Us is in the winter, the interrogation scene with Joel and those two hunters that he touchers to find out where Ellie's been taken. To me, that was the big turning point where Joel 100% excepts Ellie as his daughter. A close second would be where Joel shoots that firefly in the crotch twice. And people say Joel’s dead in the second game, I can’t see that happening after he shown how ruthless he can be.
Joel won't be dead in the second game. I know this because he appeared in the trailer and he has no reason to die, because they are safe in Jackson County with Tommy

The Protagonist dude every Zelda post ocarina of time did what ocarina did and way better. Saying ocarina of time is best game ever just screams that you haven’t played a single new game since the mid 90s Ocarina has a terrible camera, aiming in that game is a nightmare due to the super sensitive touch. combat is basically “spam the A button”, it has the most mediocre boss fights in the series, and until you get Epona after the first third of the game, navigating hyrule fields is a tedious pain in the butt. I’m a fan of the Zelda series, and saying that ocarina is the best game ever is an insult to games that improved the Zelda formula ever since, so don’t say that ever again.

I think me using the term heroin is accurate cause the high of me killing an entire team with my bow would give me a rush no other game had yet to give me. But... if my team wouldn't mark, didn't revive, or sprinted everywhere telling them where we are I would get withdrawal symptoms lol
Nobody ever mentions multiplayer because hardly any of the players noticed it in the main screen. Factions mp is a weird name anyway, so most of the players would think it's some sort of setting screen, so they ignored it and moved on. I didn't know that's multiplayer existed after 2 years of the games release. I was shocked when I saw it.
the world Eli was the key to an vaccine that could of helped so many people even though you have to kill a little girl but I think it is a worthy sacrifice just like an old wise man once said "In the time of crisis, one must ignore their feelings and do what is best for the majority, not the individual"

Also fond of when Ellie breaks David's finger and tells him to tell the others Ellie's the name of the girl who broke his fucking finger, as well as the scene where Joel is interrogating the two hunters, as it really shows how far he can go and somewhat foreshadows his rampage at the end.
While I love the Last of us and Uncharted. I'm very excited to see what new series Naughty dog has in store for us. So I have a question for anyone who sees this comment. What Theme or genre do you want their next series to be. I was thinking maybe something involving the supernatural.

Well i loved uncharted 4 story as well but i think LOU was way more deep when it comes to emotional experience.. sadness moments were more and a bit darker than Nathan -the fun crazy character- could ever deliver.
Abdel Mahdy The thing is, I think TLOU had the best story for a single game. But the way U4 calls back on the events of the other games makes the story feel more complete. I guess it's like trying to compare apples to oranges in that sense. A full series against one game.
And when at the end, Joel is listening to the entire reason for bringing Ellie there, by Marlene, and he's on the ground.. That very moment.. It arose such an emotional conflict.. That.. I'm sacrificing my daughter for.. Humans.. Who have never really gotten a common ground with themselves.. Is it really worth it?? Damn that felt like an emotional arrow piercing my heart there
I believe the most emotional part was when Ellie stole the horse and ran off and Joel finds her in the house. The scene called "I'm not her" That and when Ellie kills Dave and Joel finds her and comforts her. Powerful scenes.
This game made me want to be a father. It made me want someone I loved, someone I wanted to protect, someone I would burn this earth to save if I had to. It made me cry some of the most honest tears I've shed in my life, but it also made me smile, and laugh, and it was just... so beautiful.
That DAMN GIRAFFE SCENE. After we finally get to see how Ellie perceives the world and how the Winter chapters changed her, she still manages to surprise everyone with the simple elegance of being enamoured by one of the last happy things in the game ♡

Maria Yuri “normal zombie story”? You’ve clearly never played it. The zombies are just one of the in game enemies. And don’t forget that you fight more people than infected. This game could be in whatever setting it wanted, it’s the characters that made it. It didn’t even need zombies to make it what it is honestly. If you’ve played through the entire game and didn’t enjoy it then something is clearly wrong with you or you have a very short attention span to the characters
Bts drug addict I wanna start off by saying your reply was way too long. I can understand that you may or may not like the game, but I’ve seen people put less effort into SATs than your comment. But the way you described the generic zombies apocalypse setting, makes it what it is. You’re playing in a dead forsaken wasteland of a place people used to call home. And saying the characters have no personality is pretty far fetched. The story is somewhere around 14 hours long. There’s no way you can reveal personality from all the characters, and still have enough time for the storyline. Especially considering it was developed on a PS3. But aside from that, the characters make the game, wether you think they have personality or not, I see it completely different. There’s not much to know about Joel considering he was just an average father. All you need to know, is that his daughter died. But NaughtyDog was able to write it in such a true meaningful way that it touches new players. To see an entire city torn to pieces in minutes. Personally hits home for me because I live in Texas myself. Then, after seeing the way he slowly bonds with Ellie to fill in for what happened to his daughter is something that’s unique to experience. It completely immerses you into the characters and makes you care for them. And the conversations with Ellie, about times before the outbreak really makes you notice how unimportant our day to day activities really are, and how lucky we are to have them. And then the scene with David when Ellie mauls him with a machete gives me chills every time. It’s really hard to explain why a game like this is good, because you can’t really describe it. It’s something you need to experience. It’s strange that you don’t see it the way others do. If my guess is correct you like to have the unpopular opinion. Really takes away from your experience to shit on one of the best written games I’ve ever played in my life. It wasn’t a shit game just because it didn’t connect with you like it did others. It won over 240 game of the year awards in 2014 for a reason. And did you not the crowd reactions for the Last Of Us 2? These people genuinely enjoyed the game. And to say that it’s an ego cover up to love this game is probably the most ignorant thing I’ve heard in a while. You’re missing out big time on the hype for part 2
Dhaval Chavda i agree. the prologue set you in the middle of a real relationship and you could feel the love between father and daughter. it felt like we were a part of it, that's why it was so heart wrenching when Sarah dies.

man it was just so sudden too. One moment they are bonding and laughing then henry loses all hope and will to live. It just shows how bleak and hopeless the world is in the game. And Joel felt his pain too, knowing what it's like not being able to prtect or save someone you love.
I just experienced that scene a few hours ago. Even though I figured out both Sam and Henry’s fate during the sniper shootout, it was still devastating when it happened!

My favorite part has to be when Ellie and Joel argue in that small room together after she finds out that Joel planned to leave her with his brother. The raw emotion that came from both characters was astounding and seeing how conflicted they were since they had been through so much together at that point. It was just so REAL in how a parent & their child would disagree over a big decision. The part that still makes me tear up though is when his daughter dies. That shit hurt so much to watch.
For me it’s the moment when Ellie is stabbing David repeatdly and them Joel comes, stops her, hugs her and calls her baby girl - the same he used to call his daughter That for me is THE moment that perfectly showcases how far they’ve come, how much they’ve been through together and how much they LOVE each other The moment Joel realises Ellie is EVERYTHING to him, the moment he realises he got “something to fight for” I love this game so so much, it is not only my favourite game, it is also the best story ever
My first run when I payed it on PS4 after a while of earing '' best game of the year '' etc. I was like ... meh ok ... but I did play on Grounded mode and took my time, and damn this game fuck your feelings ... two thumbs up

This game is the best thing I’ve ever played friggin ever. The music is gorgeous and perfect too. Man, it kept me awake for hours after the end. That’s my favorite part btw. The very last thing Joel says and how she reacts. There’s sooooo much unsaid, so many layers and feelings and secrets and it ends with such a simple few lines and buries everything. You’re left wondering if you’re relieved or devastated. I’d say both.
My fave part was when Ellie had to protect Joel when he got seriously injured. I felt her struggles, her nerves tested and her determination. SUCH A GREAT GAME.

I've always enjoyed the uncharteds for what they are but the last of us is amazing! I think the last of us is 10 times better than uncharted 2 and 4. it is the best modern day naughty dog title to date. it mixes gameplay and story almost effortlessly. the last game before this one that really amazed me in the story department was Bioshock
I wanted there to be a sequel but I also knew it was a big risk. They said they wouldn't have made a sequel if they didn't have a great story, I mean look at Uncharted with each sequel the games still are outstanding. Come on Naughty Dog make us proud.

Quad Maxx yeah the opening wasn't that tear jerking. Too be honest when I played this game the story was the thing that moved me along. The gameplay gets pretty old after a while, especially if you get used to the clickers and enemy humans.
Plus it's not a very hard game ( played it on high difficulty first time) , it's just very tedious in most parts it. The game really is over praised by many people.
The Last of Us is one of those few games that makes you wish you could wipe your memory, so you can experience it for the first time again.

I must be honest with you, Seeing as how Naughty Dog has managed Uncharted up to the 4th installment. I strongly believe that The Last of Us 2 will surelly surpass its predecessors and even win the GOTY award.
It may sound biased but the history of Naughty Dog has proved again and again that they are game developers that don't dissappoint.
TacoPocalypse I doubt it but I hope so. One of the things that made the first one great was that it was something new.

My favorite part in the last of us is in the beginning when sara dies, because it is the moment i knew this game was able to elicit emotion i had never felt before playing a videogame.. The authenticity of the characters is unmatched in anything ive ever played.. Honestly there are so many great moments in this story its hard to choose just one, but when hunting as ellie in the woods there was a sort of magic and awe that you can only experience when playing this game.

My favorite part of The Last of Us is in the winter, the interrogation scene with Joel and those two hunters that he touchers to find out where Ellie's been taken. To me, that was the big turning point where Joel 100% excepts Ellie as his daughter. A close second would be where Joel shoots that firefly in the crotch twice. And people say Joel’s dead in the second game, I can’t see that happening after he shown how ruthless he can be.

Ocarina has a terrible camera, aiming in that game is a nightmare due to the super sensitive touch. combat is basically “spam the A button”, it has the most mediocre boss fights in the series, and until you get Epona after the first third of the game, navigating hyrule fields is a tedious pain in the butt.
I’m a fan of the Zelda series, and saying that ocarina is the best game ever is an insult to games that improved the Zelda formula ever since, so don’t say that ever again.

Nobody ever mentions multiplayer because hardly any of the players noticed it in the main screen. Factions mp is a weird name anyway, so most of the players would think it's some sort of setting screen, so they ignored it and moved on. I didn't know that's multiplayer existed after 2 years of the games release. I was shocked when I saw it.

Also fond of when Ellie breaks David's finger and tells him to tell the others Ellie's the name of the girl who broke his fucking finger, as well as the scene where Joel is interrogating the two hunters, as it really shows how far he can go and somewhat foreshadows his rampage at the end.

Well i loved uncharted 4 story as well but i think LOU was way more deep when it comes to emotional experience.. sadness moments were more and a bit darker than Nathan -the fun crazy character- could ever deliver.

This game could be in whatever setting it wanted, it’s the characters that made it. It didn’t even need zombies to make it what it is honestly. If you’ve played through the entire game and didn’t enjoy it then something is clearly wrong with you or you have a very short attention span to the characters
Bts drug addict I wanna start off by saying your reply was way too long. I can understand that you may or may not like the game, but I’ve seen people put less effort into SATs than your comment. But the way you described the generic zombies apocalypse setting, makes it what it is. You’re playing in a dead forsaken wasteland of a place people used to call home. And saying the characters have no personality is pretty far fetched. The story is somewhere around 14 hours long. There’s no way you can reveal personality from all the characters, and still have enough time for the storyline. Especially considering it was developed on a PS3. But aside from that, the characters make the game, wether you think they have personality or not, I see it completely different. There’s not much to know about Joel considering he was just an average father. All you need to know, is that his daughter died. But NaughtyDog was able to write it in such a true meaningful way that it touches new players. To see an entire city torn to pieces in minutes. Personally hits home for me because I live in Texas myself. Then, after seeing the way he slowly bonds with Ellie to fill in for what happened to his daughter is something that’s unique to experience. It completely immerses you into the characters and makes you care for them. And the conversations with Ellie, about times before the outbreak really makes you notice how unimportant our day to day activities really are, and how lucky we are to have them. And then the scene with David when Ellie mauls him with a machete gives me chills every time. It’s really hard to explain why a game like this is good, because you can’t really describe it. It’s something you need to experience. It’s strange that you don’t see it the way others do. If my guess is correct you like to have the unpopular opinion. Really takes away from your experience to shit on one of the best written games I’ve ever played in my life. It wasn’t a shit game just because it didn’t connect with you like it did others. It won over 240 game of the year awards in 2014 for a reason. And did you not the crowd reactions for the Last Of Us 2? These people genuinely enjoyed the game. And to say that it’s an ego cover up to love this game is probably the most ignorant thing I’ve heard in a while. You’re missing out big time on the hype for part 2

man it was just so sudden too. One moment they are bonding and laughing then henry loses all hope and will to live. It just shows how bleak and hopeless the world is in the game. And Joel felt his pain too, knowing what it's like not being able to prtect or save someone you love.

I still remember the moment when I got The last of us few days before the actual release and i was so damn happy, favorite scene is definetly the last dialoge between Joel and Ellie
My favorite part has to be when Ellie and Joel argue in that small room together after she finds out that Joel planned to leave her with his brother. The raw emotion that came from both characters was astounding and seeing how conflicted they were since they had been through so much together at that point. It was just so REAL in how a parent & their child would disagree over a big decision.
The part that still makes me tear up though is when his daughter dies. That shit hurt so much to watch.

This game is the best thing I’ve ever played friggin ever. The music is gorgeous and perfect too. Man, it kept me awake for hours after the end. That’s my favorite part btw. The very last thing Joel says and how she reacts. There’s sooooo much unsaid, so many layers and feelings and secrets and it ends with such a simple few lines and buries everything. You’re left wondering if you’re relieved or devastated. I’d say both.

by far the best moment in the Game is David's revelation to Ellie when they're sat round the fire shortly after the zombie attack. "everything happens for a reason"...... gives me the chills every time.

I've always enjoyed the uncharteds for what they are but the last of us is amazing! I think the last of us is 10 times better than uncharted 2 and 4. it is the best modern day naughty dog title to date. it mixes gameplay and story almost effortlessly. the last game before this one that really amazed me in the story department was Bioshock

I wanted there to be a sequel but I also knew it was a big risk. They said they wouldn't have made a sequel if they didn't have a great story, I mean look at Uncharted with each sequel the games still are outstanding. Come on Naughty Dog make us proud.

I'm going to have to play this damn game. You damn fanboys jizzing over a movie for the the price of a video game are pissing me off. I can't go a day online without seeing or hearing something about how good The Last of Us is. If it really is THAT good despite the fact that it's almost 80% cutscenes then I'm going to have to play more than the opening (which, let's face it, isn't that heart breaking)
Quad Maxx yeah the opening wasn't that tear jerking. Too be honest when I played this game the story was the thing that moved me along. The gameplay gets pretty old after a while, especially if you get used to the clickers and enemy humans.
Plus it's not a very hard game ( played it on high difficulty first time) , it's just very tedious in most parts it. The game really is over praised by many people.
