Who’s ready for an INSANE three-way Nissan GT-R drag race?!
Mat’s pulled together three different GT-Rs which have been tuned to different levels, and he wants to find out just how much performance you get depending on how much you spend upgrading your car.
Of course, Mat’s chosen the most powerful one for himself. It’s had an engine rebuild so you’ll now find a 4.1-litre V6 under the bonnet which produces an astronomic 1,600hp & 1630Nm of torque!! All-in-all, around £100,000 was spent on these upgrades.
Alongside him, we have a GT-R that’s had £35,000 of upgrades added to it. These include adding hybrid turbos and strengthening the gearbox, and as a result, the car now kicks out 1,000hp & 1,150Nm.
Then finally we have the most basic car here. It’s had an ECU remap, along with new intakes & exhausts added to it. Thanks to that, it now puts down 650hp (100hp more than the standard car) along with 840Nm.
So the result may be a foregone conclusion, but will the 1,600hp GT-R prove its worth?! There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

1600hp is impressive, but 1000hp tuned 6 years ago and 50,000kms is way more impressive
I think the 650 hp one with only intake, exhaust, and tune finishing in the same frame is pretty impressive as well.
@@kchiem not that impressive honestly , more horsepower is good but doesn't provide more grip if the tire can hundle 700ish the 1000 power gtr isn't much more powerful on the drag race thats why you can see it getting worse starts

wow, never would have thought 10.3s with street tyres and registered would be considered unimpressive. I've driven a model s p100d and its hard to describe how quick running 10s really is to someone thats never done it

The fact that the most powerful car broke proves how big the stress is the powertrain must absorb during full acceleration from 0. No matter what car, this can cause lot of harm

JM Imports have 1500+HP builds that last mate. It's nothing new, they are really good at what they do and build bullet proof engines as long as you're not stupid with them and rag them from cold etc.

No. It's such a shitty car, so everything shakes and breaks. Neither 650 hp nor 1000 hp is close to a standard Porsche 911 turbo S. And Porsche can take 100+ launches after each other without anything shaking in pieces.

Matt always knowledgeable but in a fun way. He makes car videos fun to watch. I loved this race...I think I would be happy with the 3rd GTR just because it seems more reliable and I don't like funny smells in my car! LOL! On any given day that 3rd GTR would beat most cars on the road anyway.

Can you have a drag race between stock mclaren sena and 1600hp gtr?
So the key take away is you don't need a 1650hp GtR because it breaks down in no time. A well built 1000hp one will be ok but that is also a hit or miss. A 650hp with minimal butchering to the car is probably your best bet to have fun. Got it. 😅

Agreed. With stock internal and stock transmission limit the torque at 650 ft lbs. Mine is at 750 wheel HP on 93, and 800+ish on E85 both tune limited to 650 tq.. That seems to be point of reliability. Any more tq you need to build the transmission especially if you brake boost launch it often. Add much over this point internals are also needed.
I think optimal is 800-850hp.

it's already done a full day at santa pod running 1900bhp without breaking, just one of those things with cars running this sort of power, sometimes they work all day, sometimes they break as soon as you arrive

GTRs and C6 Vettes are what you want if you want upgradables. Both make power really easily and respond really well to mods
Usually only see 1600+ HP at the drag strip so seeing it here is like WOW!

I honestly didn't expect the difference to be that huge. Obviously the 1600 would win but I didn't think it would be that massive a gap with the cars being as fast as they are in standard trim.

Yeah. A stock GT-R Nismo has 600 HP, it's only an extra 50 HP from factory, in theory.
it can unlock almost that on a golf lol no surprise it can do it on a gtr, i wouldve expected about 200hp

The high A/C temp takes the heat from the engine block itself, so it doesn't overheat. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
You’re right, on Ricky (llf) video when he was drag racing he had the heaters on full wack to let as much hot air in as possible from the engine
I used to do this in my tuned 200SX too. Not that it made anywhere near the power of these cars
Yeah I’ve seen people turn the heater on in summer when they see their cars overheating.
I never needed to do that but I guess 75 hp isn’t comparable to 1600 😅

@Aryan A Roll race would be worse. Takes too long to spool up those big turbos... the Nevera would be bus-lengths ahead, with instantaneous torque. Turbo-lag is why the 1600hp GTR didn't get the jump on the 1000hp, in roll races.

My stock 13 GT-R on 91 octane (so probably making 530 hp) did the quarter in 11.2. No way a tuned one with 650 hp does it in more time.
@@kchiem Welp its not so accurate anyways, Matt has couple of videos with stock gtrs doing 1/4 mile in 10.8, and the 2021 nismo, in his video i believe he managed 2.89 0-60 on street surface.. so its not so accurate anyways.
@@kchiem the main issue is the runway no prep done to it so any car struggles to launch on it so u can’t get perfect consistent launches

He is on an air runway 😅😅😅, which on an average is about 280 ft wide. Pilots run airplanes on those things, what is there to be said about running a tiny little car in comparison to an airplane? Can probably be done with closed eyes. Driving in a straight line on something that's 80 feet wide... Not impressed as much as I am with people letting Matt run their cars.
