In 1943 Luftwaffe fighter pilot (Bf 109) Franz Stigler took the sky to take down a damaged B 17. When he approached the bomber, he could not believe it was still flying. Pilot Charlie Brown was shot in his shoulder, his crew was either dead or wounded. Besides Brown was going the wrong way because he lost his instruments. Stigler flew next to Brown's cockpit and waved to the anxious Brown that he had to turn around. Stigler escorted the bomber to prevent it being shot down by german forces. He guided Brown to the north sea and then headed back to base. Brown made it home. Stigler reported he shot down the B 17 above sea to prevent casualties on the ground. Brown was not allowed to tell anyone. The two met in the nineties and remained friends until they died.
The damage model is awesome indeed. You can even see the twisted flaps of the bomber shaking with the air flow. Someday I'll give CoD a try, although I like Il2 1946's versatility.
Although its just a game - the guy was heading home, shot up like hell, and not able to fight anymore. You should have come up on his 3 o clock position, salute him, and turn back to the Gartenzaun. I would have done it that way.
+Jo Jo Lo Es Es Car, Just AI? I don't care, I would have done the same, I find it really fun to pretend it is actually WWII. I guess we all have our opinions.
@zockerapfell It depends on your hardware. I have a 2 years old Pc and only changed the GPU foor a newer one. Its an I7 920 overclocked to 3,33Ghz, 6 GB RAM DDR3, 1000w Power Supply, Nvidia GTX580 (new), Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits...
@ctjchefchef BoP you are talking about is an arcade console. This video is about Cliffs of Dover, which is a serious Pc simulator and yes, you can fly from the cockpit of He-111, Ju-88 and Stuka.
I think the bomber pilot thought you might let him go home. Kinda mean to kill him. Amazing detail- You could actually see the flaps trembling to the wind draft!
Related story to this, during a raid over Germany, a B-17 was severely damaged. And a ME-109 was closing in on it, however, when the ME-109 pilot saw that the crew was injured, he escorted the B-17 out of the dangerous territory. The ME-109 pilot and a crew member of the B-17 eventually found each other and were friends.
Yeah i've read that the bf109e had lots of .30 cal ammo compared to the spitfire and hurricane wich only had about 30 seconds...but anyway, in the video he is flying the Bf110 but i belive the numbers are pretty much the same.
Detail is phenominal , great film, I wonder how many round the Me109 had because I believe fighters only had enough buulets for an average of 1 6 to 10 second burst hence short squirts of 2 secs a time!
I remember watching this years ago. Now that I got the Blitz edition I found this video again and can't believe it's got over 700k views :D It's terrifying how realistic this is. Must have been very rewarding to finish this poor guy!
The story that I remember most, is that of a German pilot who had severely damaged and wounded the plane and crew of a british or american bomber. The rear gunner was too wounded to fight back, and saw the german pilot come fly up behind them. He braced for death, but death didn't come. He opened his eyes and saw the german plane right behind him.The german then flew to beside the cockpit, and saluted the American pilot. The pilot saluted back and the german broke off, back into the fight.
Close, but not quite. The German pilot actually escorted the B17 all the way to the channel. The two men met up again after the war, but both have sadly passed away. Stories like this make you happy.
Thankks for the info, I was tninking on metal gunsights from WWI and pre-war planes, just turned into reflective ones during Spanish Civil War in both sides...
@zockerapfell This video was recorded just after the last week's patch, do you need more perfomances than this? It is captured while flying, it's not a track... :)
@TUCKIE10 i will probably buy a better power supply if i upgrade my gpu... for now this pc is enough! its a shame that cliffs of dover has such performance problems; dont know if i buy it soon or wait some more. gonna play some il2 1946 now ;)
Hey, im a beginner at this game and i have many issues with flying, for example, my engine sometimes blow up, and i go down and crash, EVERY SINGLE TIME, and the next one is that i start to loose altitude while my aeroplane is flying in circles and then i crash... Help me please!
Can someone tell me how to aim in the sight? Or is it some kind of ''key'' in the control settings that you can change? If so, what is the aiming thingy called in the control settings? I have used every key on my keyboard and still i havent succeded with aiming lol.. Help is appreciated!
@TUCKIE10 well i have 550w but it has not been a problem so far^^ if every component gets enough power, which it obviously does (recently played the bf3 beta on ultra in 1920*1080) it should not be something to worry about i guess.
guys need your opinions, shall i get IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 or get Cliffs of Dover? My PC Specs: I5 3.4Ghz Quad core, nvidia geforce 650, 8 GB ddr3 Ram and windows 8 premium 64-bit OS
@Sicklehead88 Look carefully at the date of that reviews... this simulator runs good after latest patches, and in the future it will run much better...
Only thing missing here, no wake turbulence is represented in the sim. No way a plane could fly all over behind a larger aircraft like that without encountering wake turbulence. Nice vid though.
@TUCKIE10 if it runs like this i have no doubt i will buy it ;) i just wanted to ask because when this game came out the performance was horrible, even with expensive hardware.
@Rekreated1 do you really think your pc would struggle with that game or do you just want to have a reply that says "dude, nice specs! don't worry, it'll work fine!". cuz it will work fine. btw: i don't really get why you also wrote down you PSU.
Saludos y gracias
1:10 the detail on that damaged plane is amazing

wow amazing
+Sander Beheydt Once again they Americanized the true story. It was a Brit bomber that was escorted home.
+Koala TV ... sorry but wrong.
jalopnik.com/5971023/why-a-german-pilot-escorted-an-american-bomber-to-safety-during-world-war-ii
+Koala TV According to wikipedia, Charlie Brown was from the USA.
TheTiagoFire On the wiki anything goes.
Ugh... I feel like I just watched my cat torture a mouse to death.

sais a lot about your personality
Robert Reschka lool if he was that German ace (can't remember the exact name) that that saluted the American bomber then yea
Just like Franz Stingler who did exactly that but also *_escorted_* the heavily damaged plane back to its base. 'Tis was a British crew in a B17.
Average Nazi British I'm sure it was American
That was cruel.
***** Yes.
I know it's a game but come on man he barley any control of that plane

Most be difficult to portray aircraft ditching in the water, because even this beautiful game just shows a big water splash. Sort of unsatisfying.
vmvlkc he had no control's for fucks sake..
At that angle, believe me, it would be a big water splash xD
But in general you are right.
War Thunder is trying , IL-2 BoX is trying too.
Well, when a plane slams into the water, that's mainly what you're going to see.
Similar to how most explosions you'll see IRL is 90% dirt.
Yeah i've read that the bf109e had lots of .30 cal ammo compared to the spitfire and hurricane wich only had about 30 seconds...but anyway, in the video he is flying the Bf110 but i belive the numbers are pretty much the same.
Not very chivalrous, boy. Its a sim, behave like it.
Kaisers Landser "Its a sim, act like it" Ok! Bombs away on all the villages I can find!! lol
Steiner it was a damage model test
Dropping bombs on civs is an honorable act
Detail is phenominal , great film, I wonder how many round the Me109 had because I believe fighters only had enough buulets for an average of 1 6 to 10 second burst hence short squirts of 2 secs a time!
That's not a problem of the oy. Your propeller's torque pulls to the left, you have to correct it by using pedals/rudder.
I remember watching this years ago. Now that I got the Blitz edition I found this video again and can't believe it's got over 700k views :D It's terrifying how realistic this is. Must have been very rewarding to finish this poor guy!
Yes, reflective sights were relatively new about that time.
@TUCKIE10 Yep agree , just wondering though how much more ammo did the 110 have ?/ disconting the rear gunners ammo pods ; )
He was surrendering ! He was wiggling his wings ! >u<
Coward :3
When did he wiggle?
Damn Huns...

at first i thought it was a dumb zbuffer glitch, but there are holes in the airplane! incredible realism. best i've ever seen.
will it work on AMD Radeon HD 6450 and Intel Core i3-2100 dual-core processor 3.1 GHz?
Thankks for the info, I was tninking on metal gunsights from WWI and pre-war planes, just turned into reflective ones during Spanish Civil War in both sides...
@zockerapfell This video was recorded just after the last week's patch, do you need more perfomances than this? It is captured while flying, it's not a track... :)
Heartless monster :D
You have to trim your ailerons and rudder with the trim keys. Otherwise the propeller torque will keep twisting your plane.
@TUCKIE10 i will probably buy a better power supply if i upgrade my gpu... for now this pc is enough! its a shame that cliffs of dover has such performance problems; dont know if i buy it soon or wait some more. gonna play some il2 1946 now ;)

Shouldn't a fighter like a 109 shake a bit when it fires it's machine guns?
That rendering is stunning!
Im pretty sure in this instance the Wellington was just above stall speed. From the looks of it as well it seemed the left engine was going out.
Mailman377
Very Nice! What kind of video card and computer are you running?
Ex-C5Galaxy crew dog...
Hi, would an AMD Athlon II X2 240e, a ATI/AMD Mobility Radeon HD 4200 graphics card, with 256 mb and 1tb ram be able to handle this? windows 7
Can someone tell me how to aim in the sight? Or is it some kind of ''key'' in the control settings that you can change? If so, what is the aiming thingy called in the control settings?

totally awesome video excellent job thank you for everything
If that's a video game, those are amazing graphics.
donde me lo puedo descargar o donde lo puedo comprar?
where are the fuel tanks on this plane?! it looks like it's wings are all empty
It is a Bf 110, twin engine,, heavier than the 109, also mg's dont have such big recoil as cannons.
bf110 vs. vickers wellington?
Would it works in a i5-2500K, 8GB ram, and GTX560 Ti DCU II?
Thanks in advance
Didn't realize the giant engine when he looks to the left?
Didn't realize the Pipper being in the center of the cockpit?
It's a 110.
I used to love il-2 Sturmovik 1946 and I still do but my 6 years old pc can't support this .. need a new one soon
What stick are you using? I have a hotas x and it pulls to the left all the time...
guys need your opinions, shall i get IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 or get Cliffs of Dover? My PC Specs: I5 3.4Ghz Quad core, nvidia geforce 650, 8 GB ddr3 Ram and windows 8 premium 64-bit OS
If you're going to say that it's flawed, would you say why it is flawed?
cliffs of dover and my computer dont get along. no ther problems with IL2 stuff. cant figure it out
WoW. Pretty nice damage model. Looks awesime.
RIP to those hero’s who died in the crash
Not really. The reflector sight was invented in 1900, and the Germans used Oigee sights in aircraft from 1918 onwards.
BF110 c-4 what a beauty^^
you can not buy the game on disc. you have to download them?
the graphic on this look really good.
You know what is air code?
They'll be in the wings, outer part, where the 110 scored its fatal hit.
A mx of CH 568, Saitek Rudder Peddals and Throttle Qadrant.
You know what I want? To see the IL-2 1946 Ultrapack 3 made with graphics like this! I gotta get this game... like NOW.
guys do i need a joystick to play the game?
Can someone tell us what game this is, and where to get it.
have they also fixed (/added) collisions with trees yet?
Why didn`t `you give them a chance to bail out?
was that the irish colours on the tail of that bomber?
If you he gunners are still alive would they fire back if they are ai?
B-26?
@Sicklehead88 Look carefully at the date of that reviews... this simulator runs good after latest patches, and in the future it will run much better...
This must be on PC.Graphics are outstanding.XBOX is great but this looks stunning.
@Steinbacker4001 I don't think you would last long with 20 mm rounds impacting all aorund the tail section of the Wellington ;)
What aircraft were you using?
Only thing missing here, no wake turbulence is represented in the sim. No way a plane could fly all over behind a larger aircraft like that without encountering wake turbulence. Nice vid though.
Do u think this will run on my Emachine laptop?
Was his rear gunner knocked out? Or just inoperable?
which one u use ?
Well, you truly messed the poor Wellington.Hope we can fly it someday. And more.Bring the Lancasters,Stirlings and Halifaxes!
@TUCKIE10 if it runs like this i have no doubt i will buy it ;) i just wanted to ask because when this game came out the performance was horrible, even with expensive hardware.
se puede jugar con joystick de aviones ?
+gerardo lopez No solo se puede, sino que se debe... Aunque no es lo mismo jugar que volar ;)
Try Shift F1. But I use a head tracker sensor, the Track IR, to aim with my head.
excellent visuals ... it looks real.
@Rekreated1 do you really think your pc would struggle with that game or do you just want to have a reply that says "dude, nice specs! don't worry, it'll work fine!".

hey can you help me with my game if you know whats wrong?
It's pretty obvious its a game. Do you think the cameras were this good back then?
Yes! The P-51 mustang was the first to have such technology!
umad?
is graph is IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover or you put some game update?
How do you have this graphics?
excuse me who is the title of game
this game is so detailed i mean look at the metal working in a that wellington bomber
Perdón, no quería preguntar que juego era. Eso ya lo sé
Quería preguntar si preferías este, o el 1946...
was this recorded in multiplayer or campaign or what?
No the Lancaster have 4 motors and twin tail
While it is your decision, I really thought you would let him try to get back home.
Damn was that Welli torn to pieces.
Computer AI is the pits basically. If that had been 1 on 1 with a human pilot, the Wellington wouldn't have just sat there waiting to be shot down.
CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP I GOT THIS GAME FOR WINDOWS8 but it doesn't work! PLZ HELP
TreeShotgun Try the Steam support...
+TreeShotgun Get the team fusion mods
for me there hasn't been a patch since october last year....is it the same to you?
No bomber pilots were hurt in the making of this video.
@adambelfast1 That would've been the RAF tricolour tail markings.
