I have question about convergence on spitfire guns...what is it and what ammo types do you use? That is my biggest problem while playing IL2 CloD with a spitfire.
I spend a lot of time watching these videos they are fantastic. But why did our designers and planners send our lads out agains such superior fire power for so long. Pea shooters v cannons? The hitting power of a 20 mm cannon is about five times that of a 303? We seamed to know what the opposition had but stuck with the pea shooters. Whatcha the videos you see how long it took a plane with 303s to take aplane down then see a plane with 20mm cannons. One second burst and the receiving plane disintegrated? No wonder we lost so many boys?
Were those Dornier bombers ? Either way, I would've thought their guns would put up a better fight, they seemed so helpless...(& without an escort)... Shooting them down, looked fun...
If we are thinking this depicts the Battle of Britain period, Spitfire camo is wrong. It should be dark green / dark earth with sky / duck egg green undersides. The dark green / grey was employed post Battle when the RAF went on to the offensive and operated more and more over occupied Europe. Good graphics though. Terry
Is there someplace that has player made campaigns available for download? From what I've seen (or maybe I'm not looking in the right place) there is not much out there. Anyway cool vid!
Great footage :) What equipment do you have that enables you to look around from the cockpit to scan the sky for targets? Is it a joystick extension/add on or some kind of VR?!
Hey, mate! Thanks!! =D For looking around I'm using a head-tracking device called trackIR 5. It translates your real head movements into the game. It is a game-changer, I really recommend it! It works amplifying your head's movement in-game. Let us say that you move your head 5 degrees to the left, in-game it will move 90 degrees to de left. So, you control your view with very small movements. =D
I have a problem with this game and I wonder if it is just a settings issue: My gun strikes don't show on enemy planes. The only way I know I've hit something is the running commentary of the screen. Engines don't catch fire, either. Parts fall off , but that is it...any ideas??
Hey Jorge! Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I used to play “Battle of Britain” on the 1990s Amiga version as a kid. At the time it felt epic but looking at it now it looks very lame haha. I’ve been looking for years for a good up to date Battle of Britain game and never found one so just gave up. Can you explain to me please what is the difference between a “Sim” and a “game”? Is what you’ve posted a commercially available game to buy (presumably IL - 2) or something you’ve created or what? I’m a bit lost haha. I just want to buy a game that looks like this and play it!
This one is called "Cliffs of Dover Blitz". You can find it on Steam, be aware that you will need a joystick to play it. It is a bit old, but it has a good and active community around it.... =D
Jorge.
Cliffs parece arcade perte do DCS.
that was epic, btw are you using any mods...i just got this game but when i`am in my hurricaine its very hard to tell that i`ve been hit, the hit affect sounds on the player are nearly non existent, it might just be that the hurricaine is made of wood and canvas, but in Il-2 battle of Stalingrad\IL-2 great battles, you can defo hear when ur getting hit...in cliffs of dover blitz not so much...just wonder if there are any mods for sound, i understand team fusion is mod team that took over devolopment of the game...was wondering if there are any addons

Hey mate! It is a bit o tweaking on the controls sensitivity and practice. You can change your axis sensitivity to a value you feel more adequate to you and also police yourself to make smooth and gentle movements with your stick. Plan you movements ahead and be gentle. That is how. =D I hope it helps.
@@JorgeHFJ thanks! Opa! =/
The Luftwaffe attacked the North of England on August 15th 1940, thinking that all the RAF fighters were down south and sending BF110s with slipper type external tanks as escort, as the range was too far for 109s. In fact, the North was fully defended by 13 group RAF and the raids on Tyneside were decimated, 75 aircraft lost. The leader of the 110 squadrons was the first to die, his aircraft being hit directly in the external fuel tank and exploding.
I know I'm way late, but I'm curious as to what your spitfire was armed with. To me, they don't seem like British .303s, since they seem to shread the Ju-88s, so are you running out with other guns, or am I just being a dumb dumb?
@@JorgeHFJ ah, that would explain it. For some reason, I thought you slapped browning .50s on there (Don't know if any spitfires even had them but was the only reason I could think of). Thanks for the clarification, great video!
You left the bombers, which are the only danger to England, in order to chase 110s, and all your mates did the same! Court Martial, mate and dismissed the Service!
The Spitfire colour scheme is incorrect. The Mark 1a had green and brown, never green with grey which didn't appear until the Mark V of 1941, by which time the 1a had been withdrawn from service.
Thanks for the feedback. At the time I wasn't thinking about "full correctness", I just thought that she looks beautiful in green and grey! Hehehehe =D

The blitz version comes already with Cliffs of Dover. In the past, Blitz was a mod, but today if you go on Steam and buy the game, it will be already the Blitz version. =D
COD is cheaper because it is older and also because the same company has a newer flight sim, the L-2 Great Battles (Stalingrad, Moscow, Kuban, Bodenplatte, and Normandy). They differ on game engines and also on the plane sets they offer. COD is more focused on Battle of Britain, but now they have a expansion called Desert Wings which brings lots o new planes that fought on Northern Africa. The IL-2 Great Battle has planes for the eastern and western fronts (depending on which DLC you get). Somethings one does better than the other, but they are both great flight sims.

Nice video bro! I can't wait to play this when they add VR
Yeah, it would be nice if they start working on it right after the North Africa map...

Sure! You can find me on Discord and/or Steam! o7
Hmm...
The 110 rear gunner is firing, but the 88 rear gunner is not?
Great video and editing!
Thank you! o7
Awesome looking sim and great gameplay!
Thank you, mate!! o7
Music MDK - Shinespark (Evan King Orchestral Mix)
Correct, the music refence is in the video's description.
Terry
JorgeHFJ, can you please make one from a German Luftwaffe fighter jets tearing up American & English Bombers ? Thank You...

Is there someplace that has player made campaigns available for download? From what I've seen (or maybe I'm not looking in the right place) there is not much out there. Anyway cool vid!
Sorry. Not that I know, maybe the guys from ATAG's forum (theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/ ) know something...
@@JorgeHFJ Thanks much for the info
What would happen in real life if you came up from underneath and shoot into the bomb bays, surely they would explode?
I think that... in real life they could detonate. But, I don't think they implemented such mechanic in game... I can try someday! =D
Great footage :) What equipment do you have that enables you to look around from the cockpit to scan the sky for targets? Is it a joystick extension/add on or some kind of VR?!
Hey, mate! Thanks!! =D
For looking around I'm using a head-tracking device called trackIR 5. It translates your real head movements into the game. It is a game-changer, I really recommend it!
It works amplifying your head's movement in-game. Let us say that you move your head 5 degrees to the left, in-game it will move 90 degrees to de left. So, you control your view with very small movements. =D
@@JorgeHFJ Thanks Jorge 👍
@@JorgeHFJ I've just checked the trackIR 5 out - amazing piece of kit! Thanks for the tip off ! :)
where are the bf109 scarting the bombers?
Probably fighting other Spits...
I have a problem with this game and I wonder if it is just a settings issue: My gun strikes don't show on enemy planes. The only way I know I've hit something is the running commentary of the screen. Engines don't catch fire, either. Parts fall off , but that is it...any ideas??
Try changing your ammo belts to AP and API (especially "De Wilde" ammo). Remove all "ball" ammo, they are not very effective.
@@JorgeHFJ Thanks! will do...
I am playing this on Steam...I wonder if that makes some kind of difference too....
Suprised they didn't have a fighter escort. Did you get a medal for this mission?

Nice spitfire formation
=D
Your aiming skills are amazing.
Thanks mate! =D
Not even close. Against bombers even my grandmother would do it better. Bring some fw or bf fighters to enjoy his death. 😂
Which IL-2 is this version? All I can find is versions in Eastern Front. I want to play as Brit against Germans or German against Brits.
This one is called "Cliffs of Dover Blitz". You can find it on Steam, be aware that you will need a joystick to play it.
It is a bit old, but it has a good and active community around it.... =D
realy nice game got it on the steam sale with all dlcs. Its so fun :P
Nice! I enjoy it a lot! =D
Jorge.
Cliffs parece arcade perte do DCS.
@@JorgeHFJ Brother Respondeu legal!! valeu,
that was epic, btw are you using any mods...i just got this game but when i`am in my hurricaine its very hard to tell that i`ve been hit, the hit affect sounds on the player are nearly non existent, it might just be that the hurricaine is made of wood and canvas, but in Il-2 battle of Stalingrad\IL-2 great battles, you can defo hear when ur getting hit...in cliffs of dover blitz not so much...just wonder if there are any mods for sound, i understand team fusion is mod team that took over devolopment of the game...was wondering if there are any addons
Hey Captain Couchpotato! I'm using the "blitz" version. This version is now the latest and official version of the game and it incorporates lots of the past Team Fusion mods. Check if you are using it. If not, try reinstalling the game (don't forget to same your key mappings first). =D
@@JorgeHFJ cheers for the response, i am using Blitz did some some testing flew a spitfire and i can defo hear them hit effects...the hurricaine is made of wood an canvas so if bullets hit my wings of a hurri its a very quiet sound, but with all metal wings its a fair bit louder....Team fusion rocks i brought this game day 1 of released and it was a joke, team fusion have made this hands down one of the best sims of all time...i`am enjoying it all i have though is an xbox one controller, using program called Joytokey to get the right stick as a view stick...can`t believe how well it works, controls are possibly better that IL-2 great battles\battle of Stalingrad at least for this potato
The graphics look fantastic for a game that’s 9 years old.
Can never go wrong with 8 mgs. Mk.Ia is definitely my favorite
Beautiful gunnery! Do you recommend using the default ammunition belt or a custom one? It's hard to set targets on fire so consistently haha!
Thank you!! You guessed right, I usually use only Armor Piercing and Incendiaries on my ammo belts.
@@JorgeHFJ I'll give that a go, thanks!
The IL 2 graphics are amazing. But I don't think real ju 88s would have flown as obligingly straight and level whilst under attack!.
I wish this game was on ps4 it looks so good and this was a great video very well done
Spit mk Ia with 1942 camouflage pattern?
Yeah, sorry about that... =(
Nice job man
Thanks, mate!! =D
how do i aim like you?? its so smooth im using a joystick. what do i need to adjust.
Hey mate! It is a bit o tweaking on the controls sensitivity and practice. You can change your axis sensitivity to a value you feel more adequate to you and also police yourself to make smooth and gentle movements with your stick. Plan you movements ahead and be gentle. That is how. =D
I hope it helps.
@@JorgeHFJ thanks! Maybe I'm being alittle too rough lol I am currently practicing being gentle but it still moves around too much as I'm trying to shoot ahead of my target, I did mess with sensitivity a bit. I'll practice some more!. I'm loving playing a flight game, I'm a bit new. And ended up not realizing I played 6 hours straight til 330am last night 😂
For a 2011 sim, it sure was ahead of its time.
Agree! And it is still very relevant in sim community...
WELL DONE
If this has VR support I'd probably play it more than Great Battles
Team Fusion is working on it! They already published some videos with their progress... =D
Can you share the secret in how to video record the action during playing this game?
Much appreciated
No secret here. I use in-game recording to save my match and after that I record it with Nvidia Shadowplay.
@@JorgeHFJ Right on man!
I will give it a try...Youre way cool!
i thought they only had 10 secs time of ammo?
It varies a lot depending on the types of weapons...
@@JorgeHFJ obrigado
Where were the 109s? Nowhere to be seen. Great video guys. I love these.
Thank you!! This time we had only 110s for escort... The 109s might be defending the main bomber group. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@SvenTviking I live in the North east, a few got through and bombed some of my town of South Shields, but it wasn't badly bombed at all.
Is there no gunners on these bombers ?
great stuff !
I know I'm way late, but I'm curious as to what your spitfire was armed with. To me, they don't seem like British .303s, since they seem to shread the Ju-88s, so are you running out with other guns, or am I just being a dumb dumb?
Hey, mate! I changed the ammo settings for all my .303. They are all AP and API.

Is this a stand alone title or an expansion for a main title?
The blitz version comes already with Cliffs of Dover. In the past, Blitz was a mod, but today if you go on Steam and buy the game, it will be already the Blitz version. =D
What if you came in from behind at a 90degree angle and strafe all the row of bombers?🤔🤷🏻♂️🤘🤪🍺
How does cod compare to other il2 games? Why is it so cheap compared to stalingrad/moscow/kuban series?
COD is cheaper because it is older and also because the same company has a newer flight sim, the L-2 Great Battles (Stalingrad, Moscow, Kuban, Bodenplatte, and Normandy). They differ on game engines and also on the plane sets they offer. COD is more focused on Battle of Britain, but now they have a expansion called Desert Wings which brings lots o new planes that fought on Northern Africa. The IL-2 Great Battle has planes for the eastern and western fronts (depending on which DLC you get). Somethings one does better than the other, but they are both great flight sims.
