When we look back at the sixties, the Golden Era of muscle cars, we get the chance of seeing some of the greatest beasts in the automobile world-and all of that before the US government almost put an end to them. Many models have reached our days with fame to their name, but what are the fastest from the 1960s?
Will we find some surprises on our list, or can you guess all of them?
On number ten, we start with the 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396.
The Chevelle SS came into the scene as Chevrolet’s entry into the muscle car market, with the SS moniker, meaning Super Sport. This one in particular came with a 396 cubic-inch 6.5-liter V8 engine producing 375 horsepower. In 1967, the model was available only later in the year, and it came with seven transmissions available: two manual three-speed, two manual four-speed, an overdrive three-speed, and two automatics. In the manual-shift selection you could get the Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission.
The car would take the road to make 0 to 60 in about 6.0 seconds, and had a top speed of 135 MPH.
