At 70 years of age with some absolutely
brutal training regimens in the past (Masters degree in exercise physiology and my hobby is exercise/training), primal/animal movements combined with gymnastic ring workout is the best combination I have come up with for cardiovascular/muscular endurance improvements over anything else I have tried at this age with orthopedic concerns from past training regimens. CHEAP, MOBILE AND EFFECTIVE--mike battle
Yo Elisa (MiKE), I just turned 40 years old and I am on a journey from Fat to Fit. Phase 1 was six months of yoga, Phase 2 was six months of the move strong now program by strength side. Phase 3 is happening right now and I will be purchasing the animal flow 2.0 instructional videos and incorporating the 'primal movements' into my life. I have fully embraced bodyweight/calisthenics/mobility/ring work over anything else. It is all about functional movement patterns, functional fitness, mobility, athleticism, and keeping my body moving in a safe way. Squats, deadlifts, bench press got me nowhere. Bye bye LA Fitness. Your comment resonated with me b/c the changes I am making in my life now are the person I want to be when I am your age. These types of exercises are sustaining and will help me while I age and feel good. My friends still dont get it and they are crushing weights while still managing injuries, more injuries, joint, and ligament pain. My bilateral tendonitis is holding up well with what I've incorporated. My overall balance, strength, and athleticism is slowly improving. Animal Flow here I come!
animal/primal flow practised regulary is one of the keys to longevity
Actually I think in Animal Flow they almost never use "hands and knees", it seems they are using "hands and feet" but in positions we associate with hands and knees.
Pretty recently got into movement training in the hopes of gaining a mobility regimen that I can stick to. Yoga and static stretching are things I can never seem to stick with for any period of time. I'm in the newbie gains phase of this so to speak but I'd definitely recommend. The time just passes a lot quicker for me than stretching and for an athlete/fighter, gaining mobility and strength in strange positions seems very beneficial.
Feeling gooooood!!!
Hard to? Only to people who are ignorant in the benefits of body movement. Even since ancient times, Kung Fu has animal movements, bjj also has similar animal movements as well. There are a lot of muscles that we don’t use since we’ve become “civilized”.
Yeah, such as deep squats. Our ancestors used to constantly deepsquat while resting and taking dumps. It's actually scientically proven to be better for you using the toliet in a deep squat position and it's easier to pass waste.
@@TM-rh7zs I deep squat after dinner to help digestion before bed. It's amazing.
@@TM-rh7zs Shitting in deep squat is immensely beneficial. You see the traditional asian toilets, like in Japan or India, they're basically a fancy hole in the ground. But even more beneficial is giving birth in deep squat. Women always argue that giving birth is the greatest pain any human can suffer, but it's so painful because we make it unnecessarily painful ourselves. The deep squat helps by stretching the necessary parts open and allows gravity to contribute too. We should really normalise the deep squat again.
I recently discovered and started animal flow.
Before this, I was training with weights all primal movements and jeet kune do.
I must say, the animal flow (for me) is enourmously building my mobility and stamina and also muscle.
But yes i understand as well that, when my muscles are strong enough to do these exercises with my own bodyweight, i won't gain muscle anymore.
So my plan is to combine it with the rest whenever i feel like it, but also do animal flow with a weightplate tied around my waist...
How’s the progress going?
I think you can always make the positions more challenging for muscles. Animal flow is very similar to freestyle dancing. I work in national theatre and I can say these dancers are huge without spending time in gym. Obviously not as big as body builder, but to the point where they keep their flexibility.
Weight vest!
I have started this recently, and I love it!! I have actually done this instead of my trigger sessions. I really enjoy the workouts, but they are more challenging than I expected! Would you recommend that I do this in addition to the trigger sessions or is it ok to use animal flow instead of the trigger sessions?
Ive been doing this for years but I didn’t know it was an actual thing 😭
What about locomotive exercise?
Primary -> Primal
Primal movements should be focused and developed first before any others can be comfortably executed
Just learn how to break dance….
Animal flow is hard
Great to push your body with different movements
62 and willing to push my body looking for new gainz 💪🦵👍
