I learned from youtube a year ago how to use a dslr in manual mode and I F...... LOVE IT :) now I’m discovering “studio photography” because of my kids and you Andrew were the right adress for me. Best teacher ever, the pictures turned out really good, but the light...I used a normal office table light bounced of a white wall :( I’m on a budget so....cheap amazaon studio light kit with 2 softboxes 2 umbrellas for example and just a bolb with no power adjustment (really bad right?) or should I invest in maybe 2, 3 speedlights like the canon 430ex and some remote triggers amd put them on a stand amd mybe a reflector hold by someone

trust me, I've seen some Serious pros that make $$$$$$ use a Nikon flashgun on a Canon body. Blew my mind the first time I saw it, but I get it now. Two words. Comfort. Results. I'm 100% sure they were shooting in Manual. I'm currently shooting an Olympus flash on a Panasonic/Leica body, so to each their own.

You can find a bunch of cheap used Nikon flashes online on ebay or other selling sites or at pawn shops or garage sales. no need to spend a lot of $$ on modern flashes if you just need manual mode and control the power and its more consistent than TTL

I would suggest you taping the unnecessary pins on your hot shoe leaving the Middle pin only exposed to communicate with the flash. ! Then you need not worry about frying your flash or the camera anyways !

seems he is saying this method works on any flash shoe since the center pin is universal.
Increase your shutterspeed? Then you end up gettnig black lines as you end up shooting faster than the flash...
