    You can never go wrong with a Roland amp. I have a micro cube and also a bass cube for my bass and they have been probably the best practice amps i could ever ask for. Beautiful built in effects and rock solid quality and reliability. Roland amps just seem to last forever.

    I’ve read other recommendations for the ac-33. This is the first time hearing it. Thanks for the demo!

      They really are top drawer. So sweet sounding. I'd send readers into nervous shock if I plugged an acoustic guitar in for the video, but my Taylor electro acoustic sounds utterly divine through this.

      @@GotAUkulele I can imagine how an acoustic sounds. I plugged a High Tide Tenor into a fishman something or other and was blown away. I had no frame of reference, to compare it with, but wow. I bought the uke but have to pass on amps, don't want to have noise complaints and lose my apartment.😂

    I have one. It's a great amp. I also have a Samson tripod laptop stand that I sit it on to raise it up.

    That's a lovely sounding amp. Thanks for posting this review. I would be interested to know how it stacks up to some of the other acoustic amps in this price range (e.g., Loudbox, Boss, Marshall, Fender).

      I can only speak for the Marshall AS50R which I own - wonderful amp - clearly more power and a fuller output sound. However.. it's heavy as a tank!

    Great review Baz. Roland gear is real quality, I have the Roland cube street ex, it’s Great. What strings do you use on your Electric Uke?

      Thanks. On the uke in the video? Fishing line - it's what the builder uses on his instrument and he was the one who turned me on to them. www.gotaukulele.com/2015/05/something-fishy-fishing-line-as-ukulele.html

    Great review!!
    Had 2 questions for you if you could.... I know the mic/line 1/4 input accept a (TRS) cable, but can this be a TRS cable that is in stereo (not just balanced)? I know the chorus and reverb is in stereo on the ac33 so was hoping I could run into this input with a stereo signal. I'm running my vocal chain into a Strymon, DECO (V2) then into the ac33. The Deco (V2) has stereo outs which sounds so great when they are actually in real stereo.
    Also is the ac33 bad at recreating lower frequencies in your opinion? I'm trying to do some one man band stuff and create kick drum sounds (playing body of guitar, etc) and they sound so good on my headphones, but when I switch back to the ac33 speakers (dual 5") its just a bad sounding pop or thunk'. If the speakers are bad at recreating the low lows, can I somehow easily hook up to or line out, to a subwoofer from the ac33?

      Sorry - not sure of the answer to the outputs question.
      I think the sound is very full across the range. I know bands that perform with these in a pair as their PA

    Very nice app. I use a Yamaha THR5A for my acoustics guitars and Ukes. Very similar to the Roland and about the same price.

    • @GotAUkulele
      @GotAUkulele  3 роки тому +2

      Used to own one - but not sure I'd agree at being similar. Half the price, fifth of the power and much smaller speakers. Great amps though!

    • @dpetro1377
      @dpetro1377 3 роки тому

      @@GotAUkulele very true. As you said there are many different amps to suit individual needs and budgets. I'll keep the Roland in mind when I need an upgrade.
      I will say that construction and design looks better than the Yamaha. The power toggle switch broke off twice and had to solder an new one in. Pain in the a$$!

    • @GotAUkulele
      @GotAUkulele  3 роки тому +2

      @@dpetro1377 Interesting - you are the third person i know mention the power toggle breaking on the Yamaha.. It's clearly a weak point.

    Historically Roland are the weapon of choice for good clean amplification, this goes back to the 90s with Thier domination around electtric pianos and keyboards. I sold a fair few back around the time of the millennium.
    The sticking point, sadly, will be the price on this bit if kit although a great sound for acoustic instruments
    May have to review my choice of amplification. Do we need two kidneys anyway?
