I have seen this amp in action and the first thing I said when I heard it in front of me was: "THIS GOOLIES!". Marshall did an amazing job with this little fellas!
Yeah indeed they did an awesome job !!!
You guys have so much character and are so entertaining to watch, love this my dudes!!
Thanks buddy really appreciate!!
The term plexi is a misnomer. The term comes from a 4 year period in which every marshall model had plexiglas front and back panels. It wasnt an amp model or anything. Marshall never called anything a Plexi.
At the time they were making the JTM 45, the Bluesbreaker, which is just a JTM 45 chassis in a combo amp form, the JTM 50, the Super Lead, Super Bass, PA, and the Major.
All of them shared the same circuit topology, all of them sounded pretty much the same.
The difference between them was really down to the output transformers and amount of tubes, and in the case of the JTM 45 they used KT66 tubes instead of EL34's.
Another thing that always bothered me was people using rose morris's catalog numbering system as model numbers.
we call it plexi for that matter it's based around those circuits !!
It always amazes me that no one even thinks about playing Robin trower
I just doscovered his work he did with Jack Bruce. Up to Bruce's passing they, together, were putting out some of the best material of their careers.
Entertaining video 😁 i subscribed
