I’ve been to several Blue Zone countries and the thing I was most cognitive of was the way their everyday life is so much slower than here in the U.S. They take the time to enjoy family, friends & real food. Now that I’m retired I try to follow this practice and believe my life at 78 is in much healthier & happier than the last 25 years. Thank you both for a very informative episode.❤

Eating whole simple foods and managing stress, never felt better, and sleep like a baby. Modern society with all it's benefits is also making us sicker. A friend of mine who has seen the difference in me said i am alive in 2023 but actually living like 100-150 years ago. 🙂🙂🙂

I greatly respect Dr. Li, and appreciate the information he is sharing. That said, I strongly disagree with his opinion about lifespans of 100 years ago. My mother was born exactly 100 years ago, and she lived to 97. Of her six brothers, all but one lived to their late nineties. One is still alive today. Their grandfather was born in 1865 in England, and emigrated to Canada in 1885. He lived to age 99 and two of his daughters were 102 and 106 when they died.

Hi Dr. Li I grew up in Pittsburgh PA also and good tasting food is a very important part of our lives. However, they are not usually healthy foods. I love your perspective on eating and the fact that you grew up the same as me.

Now I have incorporated this statement in my repetoire of assorted insults and attention getting remarks. I cannot wait for the first Christmas party to fire this off and study the facial expressions and replies that result! 😂

Even before Ultra processed food, Women after menopause did loose heigth and do loose speed of metabolism. Also there is fact of hypothyroid that many women do have.

Dr. Li did not mentioned animal sources one time other than seafood. At least he didn't demonize it. It's difficult to give credibility to any professional, expert, or scientist giving guidance/epert opinion on disease prevention/healing without a discussion around meat.

Only to find it was false conclusions and politically biased. Wonder what if it ruined my health after super low body fat for years which even stopped my cycle! More relaxed eating in midlife for many reasons - tired of rules and over worked in healthcare jobs. Figured enjoy life since no one knows what’s best anymore. That experiment lead to adipose in areas never had before! And now swinging back the other way. And today guess I won’t be eating the donut my boss brought today:( unless I eat it really slowly) :)

Wrong! People do not have the same basic metabolism. And it does decrease over time and if you think that one manipulated study is proof of that then you are not a serious realist. I have had a slow metabolism since birth. I was a month early and couldn’t latch so I was bottle fed. I took a full 8 ounces from birth. I had chronic tonsillitis and strep and was on antibiotics a lot. I remember being so heavy as a toddler that I couldn’t wear dresses because my thighs would rub and cause a rash. My mom put me on a diet at 5 years old. She put me in track, which I hated. I was anorexic in high school because of being sensitive about my weight. I got really sick from it but it was the only time I was thin like other kids. I started going to the gym and exercising so I could eat and not get fat. I still only ate 1200 calories per day and exercising 2 hours per day just to maintain my weight. Eventually even starving and exercise wasn’t enough and I started gradually gaining weight no matter what I did. So screw that bullshit about everyone having the same metabolism!! My husband and I can go on a diet together and he loses tons of weight and I lose nothing. Some people can’t gain weight or muscle no matter what they do. I can put on muscle easily and with very little effort. So the ultra skinny guy who can’t gain weight has a faster metabolism than most. To say that is not true is total bs! Sorry it’s just wrong!
Unfortunately it sounds like you ended up with a highly starch and sugar based diet (starting with the formula which I understand first hand because I have to drink formula as an adult) you probably have insulin resistance and pre diabetes. You probably had it at a young age and nobody noticed. Not eating balanced meals makes it even worse. You lose a little, then the weight comes right back before you can actually get down to your right weight/size. I understand how frustrating this is! I hope you can get support to find the right balance for you!

Actually, your hypothesis At 24:11 is incorrect, people did live beyond middle age, a hundred years ago and longer, and a few lived into their 70's, 80 and 90's, hence the wonderful portraits of old men and women by the renaissance painters, like da Vinci and Michelangelo, Caravaggio, etc, so not just curvy ladies !!! But if you average out the life span, taking into account the huge rate of infant mortality and women's deaths in childbirth, etc, wars, epidemics, hard labour and insanitary living conditions, you arrive at an average life span of 40 years.
I lost 25 lbs in last 10 weeks .. de stressed , took a lesser job ..part time hours . I sleep longer , exercise more and eat less ...!!!

The liver is often unhealthy and the cause of the belly fat... not easy to heal the liver... but heal the liver lose the belly fat.

Are you low carb enough? If you’re insulin resistant, you have to reverse it to get the insulin tummy to go away. You can also try fasting.
