It takes searching to find but kd's Three Cigarette"s In an Ashtray is a gorgeous torch song cover that shows exactly why Roy came knocking on her door. Very sweet, down to Earth person. Met her once in person as she was just going through life on a visit to AB.

KD Lang, an Alberta Canada girl. Her voice can soar. Roy Orbison is a legend and rightly so. I loved how you call him "Mr. Orbison". Some people deserve respect, they earn it and keep it. Thanks for the reaction as always and have a great weekend.

I am not a singer, in fact, I don't even like the sound of my speaking voice LOL. But what I noticed about KD is that she paces her voice to compliment who she is singing with. You can hear it when she is singing with Dwight Yoakam, she does a duet with him called Sin City. He is my absolute favorite singer, last time I saw him in concert I broke my book heal dancing ha ha ha. Hearing them together you know KD could blow Dwight totally out of the water but she stays with him vocally the entire time and the sound they put out together is sublime IMO. Another fantastic duet I ran across is one called stumbling In its by Suzy Quatro and Norman ua-cam.com/video/Lw0gdKJ5mpw/v-deo.html I know its country, but it give it a listen these two might surprise you

Funny though - although she got it right with this live performance on Late Night, KD was noticeably flat in hitting the high note “Cry” in Crying when they recorded it. They say that Roy didn’t like overdubs and takes, so most of his work was recorded “first take, only take”. One would have thought he would have made an exception for KD’s mishap on the recording.

He also is synonymous for "Pretty Woman" that was recorded years before The Hit Movie was released. Also he was part of The Traveling Wilburys that consisted of other Rock Legends. George Harrison, Tom Petty himself, RIP, Bob Dylan, and Jeff Lynne (ELO). KD Lang is also a legend on the Canadian Music Scene. She is the Pride of Alberta.

Just found you over a year and a half after you posted this. I thought it was a new post. But thank you D. For posting. It meant so much to me. It was bluezy and it fit my mood tonight. Am a fan of both artist.

Very thoughtful critique. Billy Gilman did a amazing cover of this song on The Voice. KD looks so much like Clay Aiken in this video.

There is a range of 8 octaves that the voice can achieve, a renown opera singer can hit 3 masterfully, Mr. Orbison is said to have been able to cover 5 of the octaves. My understanding is that is like being the Tesla or Einstein of geniuses, I know I'm a fan of his singing as was Elvis Presley. He considered him to be the best. He's definitely among the best

Roy is quite old in this clip. He used to be able to sing every part and had a wide range. KD Lang has a terrific voice.

I was just on another reactors channel and the discussion was the best version of Hallelujah--imo it has to be KDs--a great reaction would be to her performance of it at the 2010 winter olympics

My favorite version would be Australia's Logie Awards 2010. The Olympics were also a very good one.

Her 2005 Juno performances of Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen and Helpless by Neil Young are both worth a watch.

I can't imagine any other two singers whose voices mesh so well. I agree though, Constant Craving isn't one I care for. I like her ballads are the best. Her duets with Tony Bennett are wonderful.

I actually only knew Constant Craving...and it's not bad. She just wasn't someone I kept up with. But I appreciate her voice, especially with Mr. Orbison!

@@DLynn Her older stuff...more torch-y...is IMO, her best. Her first album " "Shadowland" is awesome...first time I'd heard her and I fell completely in love :)

In 1984 I didn't know who K.D. was and saw Roy and her perform Crying at the New Orleans World's Fair. I was sitting near the back and thought she was a guy with a great tenor voice!

Thank you very much!💜 Not on the radio...I wish! Thank you for the suggestion...I think someone else also mentioned Hallelujah. I'll put it on my list. Just to warn you, it will take awhile, but I'll get to it!😁
