Pete, I almost enjoyed this video even more for how casual and raw it felt! We as your main viewers literally don’t care what you post. We are here for you and your wonderful family you have created. We are here to watch your mundane chores and activities that you probably don’t think are interesting. We seriously love you for you!
Your closing comments are spot on. It's what each of us experience throughout our lives. Raising the family, paying the mortgage, work, work and more work until we realize that the kids are grown and the mortgage is paid. Then it's just your mate and you. Time to get back to the things, as you said, fulfill us. Contentment is the key to a happy retirement I believe.
@@JustaFewAcresFarm I thought barberry as well although I don't recall you saying it is deciduous. Which it is. This is the purple-leaved cultivar. The species itself is green, and that's what you are seeing down inside of the bush, it's natural coloration.
Came here on a suggestion from other farm video enthusiasts... Wow! This is just what my soul needed. And now I'll have a wonderful time catching up on all your previous videos, I really look forward to that. Thank you for your videos, and thank you for creating a little slice of peace for so many of us!
Excellent video Pete :) , Hilary :) tide up your homestead and always pretty what both do to also love it too ! Also nice got new calfs in cows to and so cute to that my favorite part in doing farming back years ago! Why did is my dad also uncle say how many calfs getting soon also be twins or tripleets and males also females! It was questionable game like playing with me because 1 to 2 on some years on odd years then some years 3 calfs come on even years new on farm ! Was wild for sure 👍!
Enjoyed watching the new gardening and flower garden videos. It’s all park of the great life. Keep them coming. Hoping to see a shot of the pavers cleaned and the next trimming.
I let out a gasp when I saw the compost spilling at 12:31! Then I remembered you make tons of compost and then I was just a little jealous of your riches. With no livestock I have to buy compost. Grrr. The bovines look happy and contented. The yard and garden look cleaner and will be more content. Now it's time for you and Hillary to take your turn at the contentment you provide for the other parts of your life. Knowing what makes you happy is terrific. Especially when you find it right outside your own back door.
Really enjoyed this one Pete. It was nice to see a little bit of the homeowner part of life and some of the farmhouse. I am from New England and am always a sucker for good farmhouse and grounds!
Your cows look very healthy. And your landscaping has good bones. I love the arbor and the walkways. Nice to see more of the house too. I think its interesting how small these older houses look compared to houses built today.
That is cool. The cows are comfortable around you therefore the calves are relaxed around you. I'm of the opinion that landscaping is part of farming. Thank you Pete.
Pete has a great relationship with his herd. I wonder if he has ticks in his region. I get covered in them when I walk through our fields and pretty much everywhere else too.
Hi Pete, I believe you are right. Someone asked me yesterday what I do for fun, after a moment of contemplation I said "Nothing in particular, I just enjoy life on the farm." Being content is far more fulfilling than "doing" things for fun.
Pete, this was always my favorite time of year, calving season. Seeing the babies run around is very rewarding. Keep bringing the joy to all of us. Thank you!
Wisteria is my favorite. I grew up with it wrapped around our front porch in Holyoke Massachusetts . Until. My father had the house aluminium sided and the siding company' they cut down the wisteria. It was over 20 years old. My father was pissed. I will never forget that
I love watching your day. I love the cows, but I'm also glad to see you and Hillary doing other things you enjoy, like gardening. Please, enjoy your life, and hopefully you'll bring us along for the ride.
Getting to see the new borns with mamas almost made me cry for some reason. It’s just so dear, the circle of life. We’re aging along with you Pete and Hilarie. Needs and demands change and hopefully we’re able to enjoy a slower pace, more of the things that bring joy (and not iust $$), and the balance you describe. Love being your neighbor, even if it is only thru the lens on my computer. Have a great day yourself.
I can relate to the frustration of watching a newborn trying to get its first meal. I've gotten a little better as I've gotten older, but still, I understand. I agree with you having calves at the time of year that you do, not too early. Not too late.
Congratulations to you and Hillary on the birth of the new babies!! It’s nice to see some new-to-us areas getting spruced up!! Your home and farm are so beautiful! 👍🏻❤️🥳
I could never quite pinpoint why I enjoy watching and listening to your channel but it just hit me today that for me you are like Fred Rogers for adults. Thanks for sharing your day with me!
The scent of lilacs always takes me back to my grandparents small farm. Grandma had a big lilac outside the back door of the farmhouse and we used to play out there. Thank you for stopping to smell the flowers, Pete, you took me back. 🙂
Hey just wanted to say that your channel has been helping us with our farm immensely thank you for your dedication to this channel and making videos in light of all the “haters”.
Growing up on a farm is one of the best life lessons any person could ask, as time moves on the things you did every day when you were younger become more important. Its the simple things in life that are priceless they give so much joy and a family farm delivers all of that in time. And calving is a special time for all thanks Pete and Hilary for sharing.
Awesome video Pete! Yes that is all part of owning a farm. Taking pride in your property by making it look nice says alot about the owners and you feel good looking back at your finished work! Thanks!
Very nice, thank-you both, always. Nothing beats seeing stock enjoying their grub! Happiness is contribution is contentment. Hence the politics that I do.
Character and reputation are built on quality over quantity. Doing every task very well, is good for the soul. Maybe not as much for the sore hands, and knotted my back, that ol' trick knee doesn't like the ladder anymore, have you seen my glasses? LOL Good content is hard to make week after week. I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing, Pete & Hill ❤
Hey Pete, yes, 100 percent would agree that being content in a current state of mind allows for much clearer minds and thoughts and overall calmness to the daily life. Once a person has reached that point of contentment, time can seem to slow a bit, so yeah agree with that statement! Also the lilac bushes are fantastic, we have a bunch in my area as well, too bad they don't bloom long enough, but they always back the next season! Enjoyed the content good sir! Hillary and yourself are great!! See ya next time!
Dear Pete and Hilario, Contentment comes from watching your videos and savoring your daily victories ! Congrats on four new members of the herd, more to follow- ❤🎉
Thanks for the video. There's a guy in Georgia who purchased farm land and house that was originally in his family many years ago. Once it was abandoned, the wisteria and privet went nuts and turned the place into a jungle you could hardly see through. He has been fighting it ever since. I never knew wisteria could grow so much. Some of the branches that went up trees there actually are 4-5+ inches in diameter. I have always loved pruning things.
i think this was a great video! I am almost 70 done with managing work and taking care of the house + small garden. Without my hubby helping..He is in love with his recliner at 77. I am trying to make chicken soup today, cook down some high-bush cranberries from Wisconsin and 2 loads of laundry. That's enough., The rest will have to wait!.
