About the recording: grand piano ( Bechstein Studio 189 (not sure about the number)) in my old school, recorded with 4 microfones (1 rode nt5, 1 SE electronics X1 close and tascam dr-40 internal mics for the room)
The piano: I don't particularly like it's playability (playing pianissimo is like playing russian roulette with mental breakdowns in every 2nd chamber), but I've never recorded a grand before (and I did already record my piano at home)
and it does sound pretty good recorded.
So I thought I'd give it a try, and it was actually pretty interesting (mic types/positions etc.) and fun.
I probably did some obvious recording (as well as playing) mistakes but the main point for me was figuring out (parts about) how to record a grand (and be the recorded player), and I learnt a lot by doing this.
(sorry about the shitty camera angle though :/ should have looked at an example vido instead of pointing it and recording straight away)

You're a true pianist. I don't know how long you've been playing the piano, and I don't really care if you made mistakes or not in this arrangement, but a real pianist shouldn't be only talented, meaning not making mistakes or playing a song perfectly. A true pianist should be someone that can put emotion in his music, and who's able to convey feelings. While listening to your interpretation, I was... overwhelmed with a deep nostalgia. Your arrangement is simply beautiful, it's unique and, according to me, way better than the original. Well I can't really say this, let's say it's different, but I prefer your version of this song. Thank you for sharing this magic with us all, you're a great inspiration to many people.

I've been playing for 8 months now and when I started I had the mindset that it was going to be extremely hard and I had to wait to be able to enjoy plating until I was really good like DrJelyll. But I found the more I wanted to be better, the less I enjoyed playing, and so I was like whats the point? so I decided to shut my mind off and to feel the music I'm playing. It's like I was living a dream and I woken up suddenly. I don't feel pain achingly anymore to be as good as professionals, but I am in mild anticipation but I remember to feel the music and never forget what the purpose is which is to be a musician rather than waiting to be one. Yeah my thoughts, ramble ramble.
NL Piano It's okay to aspire to be as good as someone, but the biggest motivation you can get in my experience, is the desire to play certain pieces of music, not because of technical difficulty, but because you want to express the emotions you see in them.
Those are my 2 cents on this topic.

This is the only version on UA-cam that matches the way my friend plays this song. You and him are the only people I've heard convey the raw emotion in this song though his is a tad darker and lonelier.
What do you mean by "darker and lonelier"? Does he play it softer? Plays it slower? Perhaps lower down? I wanna play this as dark as possible :)
I can't really describe it. It's a little slower. It just feels like the music is speaking from his own feelings of loneliness.

also. I kinda like the camera angle because it gives me an exact view of the keys being played as opposed to if the camera is sitting way at the end of the keyboard and I have to basically guesswork the keys being played on the opposite end

nah, dont have any sheet music, i just put some chords into the left hand and changed the arangement a bit

hmm, there is already an arrangement for that one, and I'm not sure I'd do a lot differently from that one. Also, I don't take requests. What I can tell you though, is that I'm seriously considering arranging two unreleased Naruto Shippuuden pieces so I hope you're at least happy about that.

Jesus, how do you reach from a G to a Bflat an octave higher???
FantasyGamer02 I was born with a gift from the gods, a.k.a. (kinda) big hands.
FantasyGamer02 You should practice stretching your fingers daily, you will expand your reach, i naturally reach a tenth and almost reach 11th stretching daily. For example, place your thumb on the front border of your piano or any flat surface and then place your index finger like making an L shape, do this then with the rest of the fingers, its a slow process, but in the long run you will notice the change. Remember not to over do it, you don't want to break your fingers or hurt yourself.
Anthony Benítez This should really only be done if you have someone with a lot of experience about it supvervising you, or are *extremely* careful.
You can damage your fingers without it hurting much/at all if you do it wrong.
(e.g. being tense in the wrong part of your hand).
But yeah, it is possible to extend one's reach with stretching exercises depending on how flexible your hands are in the first place. (another good reason for an expert.)
(This isn't specifically meant as an answer to your post. Just my 2 cents on the topic.)
DrJekyll MrHeil You are completely right, when I started playing piano 5 years ago I had a teacher for the first year and she taught me how to do it, not actually pushing the fingers to the limit, but more like flexing a muscle before doing exercises. Right now I almost don't do the L shape that forms between the index and the thumb when I stretch correctly, plus I have slender fingers so its easier for me.

I just noticed how easily you can play octaves. Do you think its better having big hands for piano or same as smaller hands. Like I'm stretching my hands at their extreme to play octaves.
Big hands are preferable, to an extent. I'm sorry to tell you this, but a lot of pieces rely on a minimum size of an octave.
If you have a teacher talk with him/her about this.
Sometimes you get more comfortable playing big chords through stretching, and sometimes all it will do is ruin your hands.
So yeah, don't take this too lightly, and ask either your/a teacher, or someone very experienced about this.
DrJekyll MrHeil I'll ask my teacher if my hands are an adequate size. you were playing chords well out of my reach like holding a note and reaching 9 or 10 notes across. I've just been getting into 7 chords and my hands are barely big enough for those. I guess pianists with smaller hands has to compromise and stick with pieces we could do. Or even change the bigger chords to something doable.

Hudson Peck This one will definetely be more complex, I hope you like 2 vs. 3 polyrhythms ^^. If you're really feeling ambitious you should try my akatsuki-arrangement though.
It may be harder but I think I like the sound of this piece more than The Atatsuki's Theme... I am learning this piece mostly because I like it... I haven't really heard the Akatsuki theme very much so who knows... I usually learn the ones I've heard enough in the anime... Once again thanks :)

Dude, it's like...you have no idea. Every morning I wake up and initially, I doubt myself, but then I look at those big-ass hands of mine and I know whatever I want to achieve, I can. (except for selected rachmaninov pieces, because you need bigger hands for those...and way more skill).
In all seriousness though, I think my hand-size is about average, Rach, on the other hand:

THOSE are big hands.
So you see, I can sympathize entirely with you not being able to play certain pieces dues to hand-size, it's just different ones for me. I know the pain.
