Well, to make up for this, it has an insanely strong sense of smell and hearing, so it can track your position with that. In fact, how do you think it homed in on the Commission as soon as they arrived in Schrade? That thing knew they were there the moment they landed and hunted them down because it could hear and smell them.
Hunter from the best guild, "Freedom Hunters" here. When I saw the fatalis I was a little disappointed, because I thought it would be a piece cake like other entries, like freedom, where it was a test of time more than skill. Boy I was so wrong
I played that game a lot even though I didn’t have a clue how bad I was doing at the time. Fatalis beat the shit out of me. I was in middle school then. I beat him in world after a week of failed attempts and learning his move set.
As a new Hunter, hearing all the different descriptions of the black armor makes me wonder if it’s not just Fatalis that’s causing all the side effects, but also the souls of long dead hunters who failed to slay Fatalis. Imagine losing your life to it, having it melt your armor along with you inside it into its own skin and now your mind is stuck with all the others who failed in a hive mind, who knows how long your soul might be stuck in there, and then some rando Hunter comes along, does the job you couldn’t and then wears Fatalis’ skin, which has your own inside it.
This as an idea i had is you start turning into the Fatalis as you continue to wear the armor. For example when you sleep are awaken with the roar of the fatalis but see no fatalis, all you see is your armor. This continues until you stop wearing the armor. Then you have dreams of past hunters that tried to slay the fatalis trying to convince you to wear the armor because when you wore the armor you were faster and so one night after losing in a hunt wear the armor feel the strength and power just then you see all the past hunters but this time instead of talking they are fleeing from you. Screaming for their lives as you kill them, you try to take off the armor but you cant you made the foolish assumption that you killed the fatalis. It cuts to a forest and all you hear is the roar of the fatalis in the night
This is an idea i had for awhile so this idea kinda like the symbiote in spider-man, the story would go like this (the crafting sound with the armour equip sound) “wow you completed the armour set sick I think Im going to get it after im finished with this armour set” hunter2 “yea i know these boost it gives me feel amazing i feel like a could take on a elder dragon with out eating”hunter1 “Lets go then lets hunt a monster then I need to hunt this Azure ratholos anways”hunter2 They fight the monster he gets hit with fire ball to the “Wow im totally fine.. This armours amazing hey hunter2 watch this”hunter1 (Mounts the monster and cuts off its tail he does cool stuff you get the point they kill the rathalos ) “Wow your a beast in that armour well help me carve this up” (THey carve it up) “Heres your half” hunter2 Hunter1 looks at his half and a voice in his head speaks to him “didn’t we do all the work why are we only getting half ” Hunter1 speaks up “ hey man i did most of the work and you did nothing”hunter1 Hunter2 chuckles “maybe next time” He looks at hunter1’s serious face “Wait are serious you don’t even have a single piece of the armor The voice in hunter1’s head speaks “you know if you wanted to we could get everything by killing him” disturbed by this thought he responds quickly “It was just a joke calm down” they return to the village in silence “Wow check this armour out”hunter2 says ecstatic hitting a pose in his new armour. Hunter1 looks at him the voice in his head stating “that armour is pathetic compared to us” “yea it is” whispers hunter1 smugly his thoughts are interrupted by hunter2 hey “wanna go on another quest to teat out my new armour maybe a khezu”. “Oh yea sure” hunter1 responds as if snapping out of a trance. they go out hunt the monster together before hunter2 kills the beast with one final blow “Whats you’re problem that was my kill” hunter 1 yells “What its not a big deal the monsters dead isn’t it” hunter2 “Not a big deal” hunter1 shoves hunter2 hard “Hey what was that for why are you acting this way” hunter2 asked suprise “Oh im sorry i just i dunno “ hunter1 doesn’t say another word while helping hunter2 carve the beast and on the way back home “I think im going to call it a night see ya” hunter1 mumbled “Yea see ya” hunter2 responds both walking to their own house “Maybe i got to little sleep thats why I’m agitated, well I’ll sleep it off then.” Hunter1 yawns before jumping in bed where he enters a dream. “Wow you did it you slayed the Fatalis” “Who was that where am I”hunter1 frantically “Oh hi my names hunter0 nice to meet you oh and were in your mind”
About Fatalis' horns being linked to his power. This was a common theme among the original elder dragon trio ( Kushala, Teostra, Chameleos) when you broke their horns their elemental powers would weaken (Chameleos go invisible as much, teostra flame aura/ kusha's wind aura would weaken).
@@angellara7040 Isn'tthat only a handwave of why poison status weaken or outright makes the wind barrier of Kushala and Fire Aura of Teostra and Lunastra disappear? I remember poison also negates Chameleos stealth camo but I am not too sure
The roar of Fatalis sounds like someone screaming in fear and agony which kinda supports the myth that people who wear Fatalis armor for too long become a Fatalis and that they're horrified and in great pain from their bodies being lively consumed and metamorphized into a monster that kills and destroys all life including the host's own kind while the host can only observe what is happening with no control over it's malformed body like a passenger to their own vehicle stuck inside with Fatalis being the driver.
Imagine if Capcom had the balls to make the stories in MH dark. Usually when you kill a monster, you get victory music, and maybe an npc congratulating you as you carve, but when killing fatalis you hear nothing, no one congratulating you, just the howl of the wind slowly scraping the walls of Schrade. After the black out, you just see scenes of new world and hoarfrost burning with no signs of life before finally showing you a distant kingdom in flames and inside the smoke you see a familiar silhouette followed by a roar before the screen cuts to black. There was no victory, no congratulations, no fight, just the last dream of the sapphire star as they succumb to fatalis's wrath like those who came before.
@@cherrytunic1171 yeah that one mission where you just see a bunch of dead monsters and a map devoid of life was one of the best story missions in the series.

You know how it always say that once a person wears armors of Fatalis one day "disappears" and then a new one appears? Fatalis will always usually be the final bosses of the Monster Hunter game. Usually once Players have obtained the End Game Armor, after using it awhile, there probably won't be any more challenges and then the Players would probably leave the game for good and play other games. Just like that, our Hunter that we play, is now forever "gone" in the world. Never to be seen.
Fatalis is probably one of the few dragon who still remembers the treachery of ancient human towards their kind... theres a saying, "The sins of the father are to be laid upon the children"
We don’t even know if any mistreatment actually happened. We still have no concrete answer on what happened to the ancient civilisation or if fatalis is even as intelligent as the “lore” claims. Personally I think it truly is all just myths and legends and fatalis is just an obscenely powerful creature but that’s all he is. No different than an alatreon or safi. If the lore was correct then the mh universe simply doesn’t make sense because fatalis would have wiped us out by now. Personally I think he had something going on with castle shrade, either they attacked him or he wanted to settle there so he wiped them out.
@@tonyepic8 please show me where it states any of this lore that isn’t from a story told to us in early mh. The games have progressed a lot since the early games including its world building and the monsters themselves. In the early games it was hinted that elder dragons are as intelligent as our hunters yet modern games and mh have clearly shown us this isn’t true. Even fatalis doesn’t act any more intelligent than any other basic elder or monster during his fight or cutscenes in iceborne and this is the latest fatalis lore we have access to. Even ignoring this shown me where I’m wrong. Show me where it states what happened to the old civilisation in the games. An actual concrete answer. Also whilst we are at it if fatalis is everything the legends say he is then why didn’t he try to wipe us out? Why not leave shrade and why didn’t he display any higher thinking during our conflict with him in iceborne? I’ve played since the first mh and kept with the series since the first game. I just dont hang onto old lore and stories as if they still hold up. iceborne makes it pretty clear fatalis is no different to alatreon or safi or any other elder as far as I’m concerned he’s still probably the most powerful entity outside of our hunters but he’s not a god either.
Fatalis was unique in the original Monster Hunter because its design is that of an ordinary and classic design of a Dragon. Which is very contrasted against several Wyverns with exotic design that come before it. Also because his bite and walk attack (or snap and drag as the wiki calls it) can OHKO you even when you only touch its tail during its animation
Let's be honest though. Alatreon's armor was pretty sub par in Iceborne. The concept of it is amazing but in practice its not worth the investment. It looks phenomenal though.
A lot of Fatalis's charm comes from the fact that it's more or less an eldritch abomination. Everything about Fatalis breaks the rules of Monster Hunter. Its ecology makes no sense, its abilities make no sense, its armor set is attributed with honest-to-God magic fucking powers, even its design breaks every rule of Monster Hunter's normal design. The Fatalis doesn't give a fuck. It just wrecks a kingdom and then sits on the ashes for hundreds of fucking years.

Fun Fact: In the Monster Hunter Stories universe, there is a phenomenon called the Black Blight. It's a dark miasma that throws the ecosystem out of whack and causes monsters to go into a berserk state whenever they are afflicted with it. Now the exact source of the Black Blight has never been confirmed but it's highly implied that one of the main sources is Fatalis himself.
I don't think breaking the horns is what causes his flames to be weaker, I think it's more likely that his throat/head become too damaged to be able to handle his strongest flames.
I'd like to see a Kirin lore video please. Kirin is one of the low-key elders and doesn't even have an intro cutscene in Iceborne. i'd like to know more about it because of it's interaction with Rajang (and if my boy Kirin would ever win against a Rajang). Also learned that there are other Kirin variants through the franchise so would like to hear more about those as well. Thanks!
I think Kirin is only considered an elder dragon due to its unique characteristics that makes it hard to classify it as anything so they just called it a Elder dragon. Its really just a lighting unicorn with attitude but the the lightning Gorilla is stronger so it should be in the same class as a Antek or that super large Popo Guardian monster honestly
@@ChandlerJC Before World, Elder Dragon was basically just used as a catch-all for monsters that break the classification system. Elder Dragons in general don't have a lot of similarities with each other, besides the fact that somewhere around 60% look vaguely draconic. @@firetarrasque4667 Yea like Yama Tsukami and Yama Kurai are classified as Elder Dragons but are the farthest from being anything dragon like. The part about Fatalis melting hunters onto it's scales isn't done out of malice at least that's not what Gaijin Hunter mentioned when he went to one of the events they had about it. Capcom stated it just likes to sleep on it's food and the body heat just so happens to melt armour and weapons it's lying on into it's scales.

There's lots of different interpretations of all of this. Truth is the information on any of the Black Dragons is very scarce and alot of it might even be outdated and/or headcanons that have become popular in the community. I like to think that Fatalis mocks hunters by doing the very same thing they do with monsters to itself by making armor out of hunters. ..still can't defeat it by myself. Managed to take him down twice and even with a 4 man team and I still had a hard time fighting him. 2 weeks and I'm still trying solos and doing it with randoms. No personal win and no increase wins with randoms and fellow hunters on my local discord channel. Probably the most challenging part is, keeping check of your teammates hp and yours too. Damaging it seems pretty easy but teammates sometime overextends their attack and immediately get caught by its fire attacks leading to faints. Though honestly, I can't really blame my randos, just like me, I know it's probably their hardest hunt too. Tomorrow's gonna be week 3 hope I can take him down this week. If not, I'll keep doing until I finally take him down for good. As much as frustrating as it is, this is the spirit of MH, you faint, you try again. The reward? The feeling of success of taking down such a ferocious legend of a beast. Materials are just second (though very important too). I'll keep trying! Edit: Shout out to my local discord hunters who helped me get some wins, veteran through and through. Still no wins though this week still. EDIT: FUCKING DID IT, well the 3 man crew and I did it! 3 straight wins!!!! Tried it solo, and I'm getting used to it, I was able to break his both horns on one of my solo runs but still fail to take him down. I was using Safi's Shatteraxe but since I got some evil eyes, I immediately crafted True Fatalis Axe with Affinity and Health Regen Aug. Always come short but I'mma keep hunting him till I take him down solo!
The best way to beat him is to only worry about yourself. You have to trust your teammates to heal themselves excluding the cheese moments. You can’t be greedy and at the same time you can’t be passive. You need to stay right up on him at all times, and this is a good fight that lets you practice your invincible frames from dodges, rolls, and dives. The biggest mistake I still see ppl do is is they don’t focus his head every chance they get. You need to break his horns at least once. It becomes a totally different fight. If you break it twice it becomes 10X easier. You should also save all the faints for the 3rd phase to include safeguard/ moxie etc etc.If you are playing with randoms and they faint in the 1st two phase more than likely you will not beat him and I would just abandon the quest. He is a tough monster on solo just because of the amount of aggression and you will be the sole focus. I personally think it’s best with a duo and it’s easier with 4 ppl if everyone can do enough damage and play safe enough. When I do 4 players I can go sometimes 30 seconds when he is not focusing me because someone else has his attention. Leaving me to soften him up and deal damage. Since he been out for a little while now most experienced players already farmed him, so you are left with the newer players trying to fight him now. Good luck man
Awesome video, didn’t expect such a big deal this early in the series! I’d really like to see something about the Jiiva family, although I know there’s probably not much to talk about, since they’re relatively new monsters and probably (hopefully) Capcom has something in mind for them.
Fatalis dies of old age and God, sitting in his throne, invites Fatalis to stand before him. "So, what good deeds have you done to warrant coming into heaven?" asks God. Fatalis doesn't answer, instead staring angrily at God. It almost looks irritated and offended. "Is there something the matter?" God asks, "You don't seem very happy?" Looking at Heavens throne, Fatalis replies "You're sitting in my seat you little shit."

Haven’t seen the video yet, but I have a personal theory that Fatalis is made so far more powerful than any other elder simply because of how god damned hot its fire burns. The power in its chest is something that could legitimately rival the sun. Its heat can melt solid steel walls, and its force can blow down stone and metal alike. This devastating fire, paired with its deep rage and terrifying intelligence, is what makes it such a devastating god of a dragon.
Bruh steel melt at 1200 Celsius so not even close to the sun safi'jiiva would be hotter to since he melts crystals in a millisecond and crystals melt at like 4000 Celsius
@@hugo-pg5tv just a theory, my guy. I’m still sticking with it bc Fatalis also pulls out his fire so casually, whereas Safi’s attack is more of a special last minute thing. Plus, I didn’t think he was melting the crystals, just simply blowing them away with the force of his attack, which is something we’ve arguably seen other monsters do. You cannot undermine a dragon destroying an entire country. You just can’t. Maybe Safi is capable of it, maybe he isn’t, but we know for sure that Fatalis is.
@@hugo-pg5tv schrade*** is a country, confirmed, in the world of Monster Hunter. And it’s also been confirmed that he destroyed the COUNTRY, not just the castle. Try to be a Safi fanboy and belittle him all you want, he’s still the most powerful monster in the series and can achieve feats beyond anything else. You simply cannot really dispute that without reaching for other monsters. He’s meant to be the strongest monster, and he is.
I know this vid was made a couple months ago. But the description of White's armor seems to imply that it sees the hunter as worthy of bearing it's might. Even strengthening as they improve in mind, body and spirit.
Fatalis isn't a boss nor final boss, he is practically a post game superboss a game's last test usually unlocked by beating every quest before it or in the case of crimson in mh4u unlocked by doing all the egg quests yeah an actual reward for delivering those things.
So, Fatalis reproduce by either egg laying or possessing other hunters, this would explain why they attacked Castle Schrade to make it their nest, Fatalis are humanity natural predator that seek out strong enough hunters to possess them with their cursed armor. This would also explain why other monsters, even elder dragons, are scared of Fatalis, they see it as an uncanny valley dragon, like a super hunter.
Fatalis: "Look at me, I'm a dumb human, standing on my back legs, holding a toothpick." Human: "I'd rather be hit with actual fire..." Fatalis: "That can be arranged." Human: "...shit. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!"
You did not mention the fact that Crimson and White Fatalis have hyper armor mode when berserk and that the only way to deal damage is to hit the core or the head.
keep in mind in mh4u there are two different types of crimson fatalis one with it's own music, design and horrifying fiery moveset and other more traditional the one with yellow spikes is the g-rank fatalis the one without them is the high rank. Know the difference it can save your life from despair.

It also kind of implies that the sins of humanity/Wyverian-kind are the reason Fatalis exists.
Imagine if Capcom had the balls to make the stories in MH dark.
Good luck!
Good luck man
Try switch axe and spam zsd on the head, but do try to stay close to him
What platform are you on? I've got a fair few fatalis kills and would be happy to either coach you or help you hunt him.
I suggest you to see Cons OA youtube channel for more guide about fatalis solo

Awesome video, didn’t expect such a big deal this early in the series!
I’d really like to see something about the Jiiva family, although I know there’s probably not much to talk about, since they’re relatively new monsters and probably (hopefully) Capcom has something in mind for them.
I think I’ve worn the fatalis armor too long
Casually turns into a fatalis and uses new powers to murder everything in a 10 mile radius
Ah, yes. Chadalis.
That's it.
That's the comment.
Chadalis.
Thank you for the TED talk

Next Monster could be Gore Magala. Alatreon or Deviljho would be interesting aswell.
Or the most terrifying Monster of all, the mighty Aptonoth!
Dan regrets killing those *innocent* and *helpless* aptonoth is stories
Looking forward to the next videos.
Hi bb
Hi bb
Fatalis dies of old age and God, sitting in his throne, invites Fatalis to stand before him.
"So, what good deeds have you done to warrant coming into heaven?" asks God.
Fatalis doesn't answer, instead staring angrily at God. It almost looks irritated and offended.
"Is there something the matter?" God asks, "You don't seem very happy?"
Looking at Heavens throne, Fatalis replies "You're sitting in my seat you little shit."
Fatalis is the best elder dragon/monster in the whole franchise for me. I love fatalis.
The black flame, huh? Sounds like something I've heard recently...
Amatsumagatsuchi. The Storm Dragon.
*Amatsumagatsuchi
Look... If you gonna act like you know whole name of the dragon, do it correctly.
@@matmil5 I corrected my comment and added the missing syllable. It would be kind of you, if you corrected someone in a more polite manner, next time. Either way, it's fixed.
@@Eazyrun U still Don't, u miss the AmatsuMAgatsuchi.
missed a part on one of the old armors that had a description talking about how it grew the longer it was worn and encased the hunter who then eventually disappears
I am introducing two friends to mhw and one of the greatest things about it is tellin them this tales about these legendary Monsters and then seeing their reaction when they actualy meet them
Haven’t seen the video yet, but I have a personal theory that Fatalis is made so far more powerful than any other elder simply because of how god damned hot its fire burns.
@@songbird6414 castle shraid ain't a whole country and he did it when they weren't ready to fight since they never used the dragonator
@@songbird6414 casually? He litterly leans back cuz he is trying hard and safi'jiiva does it atleast 10 times at the 3rd stage

Imagine if Capcom decided to make the arch-tempered version of Fatalis..
Fatalis is like a Dark Souls Boss that just got lost in time and showed up in Monster Hunter early
Whoa, whoa, whoa.... His scales are the melted remains of hunters and armor?
Always has been
@@agentm4063 that has to be one of the most perfect uses for a meme I've ever seen
Fatalis isn't a boss nor final boss, he is practically a post game superboss a game's last test usually unlocked by beating every quest before it or in the case of crimson in mh4u unlocked by doing all the egg quests yeah an actual reward for delivering those things.
GG that was really entertaining.
I wonder if the egg is more like reincarnation?
I hate that they stopped doing these videos these are so good
Fatalis: "Look at me, I'm a dumb human, standing on my back legs, holding a toothpick."
Human: "I'd rather be hit with actual fire..."
Fatalis: "That can be arranged."
Human: "...shit. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!"
Fatalis when you were his armor: hippity hoppity your body is now my property.
Sorry but I dont want a step fatalis helping me out of my skin
My god, that is one ANGRY fucking dragon. lol
You did not mention the fact that Crimson and White Fatalis have hyper armor mode when berserk and that the only way to deal damage is to hit the core or the head.
This type of lore reminds me of the dragons from Destiny. Even in death, they are a threat.
Fatalis in lore: I AM DEATH! THE DESTROYER OF WORLDS!
Fatalis in game (pre MHW): Boring af dragon.
keep in mind in mh4u there are two different types of crimson fatalis one with it's own music, design and horrifying fiery moveset and other more traditional the one with yellow spikes is the g-rank fatalis the one without them is the high rank. Know the difference it can save your life from despair.
Black Flame Fatalis is the strongest variant because he only melts Giant Sets, Father Masks and +15 Chaos Zweihanders into his scales
I wish there was a Portuguese translation on these lore videos so I would be able to share with my friends that are not so good in english. The video is awesome! Bring it up more lore ❤️
If you want to translate it we'd support it by giving you access to our scripts
@@TeamDarkside I would love to!
The whole mh lore implies that these guys were probably friendly to humans at one point
Damn they're very smart, that's why Is big counter Is dragon type
I'm really curious that since Fatalis did not appear in the New World but rather the Old World in MHW, now that hunters have returned to the New World with the Fatalis armor if that is how its will be 'reborn' in the New World. Really exciting stuff and cool to hear about the other variants. As basically starting my MH career with MHW and now in LR of MHGU, I am super excited to experience its variant
The “black flame”? Wait a minute, surely not… surely this isn’t the same “black flame” that was referenced in the wilds trailer?
*Chuckles* I’m in danger
Madara would be the perfect description for fatalis.
Wow is this the beginning of the MH Lore series cause I'm loving it👍💕
I’ve always enjoyed the underlying ties between Fatalis and fate/destiny, especially in the quest names/descriptions. As much as I hate when people post “Defy the Prophecy” in gen ult lol
It was once forbidden to officially talk about Fatalis and the other black dragons.
Now we're here
Alatreon for the next vid pl (also this video was just awesome, keep going !)
The Palico gear in Monster hunter World is hinting of the legend that People wearing his armor become Fatalises. And If you look at the description of Fatalises scales it says that its Made of or coated in Melted armor of other hunters.
Never knew about the egg hatching and the baby maturing to an adult within hours. Guess Fatalis is actually a xenomorph!
