What if I tell you that your car is your worst investment?
Let's say you already know that, what could you do to be happier?
In this video I present to you... well, me.
I'll tell you how I "freed" myself from cars, why I don't need them and also why you may, or may not, do the same thing.
    Enjoy! 😉

As a seasonal mode of transport for shorter distances, in good weather, the electric bike is good.

I have used my E-Bike since November 2022 and not my car. I'm trying to sell the car LoL I have paniers and a rear rack and super bright headlights, rear brake lights and soon turn signals. It even has an alarm if someone tries to steal it. I go to the market, post office and everywhere with it. As we Swedes say, There is no such thing as bad weather just bad wardrobes.

I work 40km from my home, so I guess I need my car.
Doesn't mean that I don't have an ebike.

Dear Luke, i thought about your argument car vs ebike alot, years ago. Ebike is more of a lifestyle choice for adventure and economy solution to save $ and time on trips to uni and work. If you are short on $ for car repairs and fuel, ebike is a lifesaver. And in economies with wages below 400 euroes, it is becomes even more important.
First and biggest drawback, if you are having health issues you cant really use ebike.
Second one is weather, try going to work on ebike in rain or coldsnap.
Third one is safety, even a smallest bump can mean death instead of a car insurance hassle and paying out for minor dents. And if you have children that fear is multiplied by 1000 for a spouse and self.
Each of this major flaws is something that ebike owners have to live by imho. You gotta accept it and move on :)
Id be glad to hear your thoughts.

Lots of agreements here, I guess I agree with most of them: bikes are not a solution for everyone. but I guess most depends also on where you live and how much your city is bike friendly.
Take Amsterdam for example, the likelihood of having an accident is way lower then in my city (Bari) where bikes and cars share the same lanes.
Also, biking makes your body stronger and less incline to illness and heart attacks (if you don't have previous impediments) and that's why there's plenty of people that biked their whole life, in every period of the year, even with snow, wind and rain. It's also true for ebikes.
As I said, there is no right or wrong: each one should make its own evaluations and decide on those. It's important to question though :)
Oh, I almost forgot: even if your wage is high, isn't it better to invest those money instead of making them lose value? I guess this is also a matter of needs: if you really need a car, say to work, buying a car is not a loss! but if you can replace it with something else, it might be an opportunity

No, because cars were made for the nuclear family. Never owned because never needed. Last summer 680 miles around south Wales on a bicycle.

If you can make over 50 percent of travel with an ebike it justifies having it. If you have a bike already, even more so.
The carbon emissions and pollution in america is worse than horrendous. It is lower than shameful, that some cars, just 10 miles can be over 30lbs of co2 emissions is just ungodly and despicable and less that worthless.
The importation of efficient cars is the only thing that is needed, but every politician has thier crack pipe dream and its turning it into the nightmare we all thought could be averted.
Its the old irresposnible ways that bring everyone down.
It should be just 1 law passed every year to make significant impact on emissions.
    Like easy ones.
Like import audi a2, or allow manufacturing in the country of high fuel efficient cars.
    Its dead simple.
But they make it into a regulation nightmare, and expect me to buy new cars and shit!??! NO WAY NEVER!
