By my account, Season of the Witch was a pretty good season. But with player counts dropping, Bungie being unstable and player trust falling, does any of that even matter?

I liked this season, it was fun and I'm wondering what next season will be like
i live to be manscaped
You definitely know how to do a sponsor justice haha yes yes zone 🤣🤣🤣
Don't get me wrong, seasons about peoples' trauma/depression/nightmares and all that are cool and all, but the story beat of "kill as many things as you can to make Eris stronger" felt way more "video game-y" than most season stories and I thought that was cool.
Its not even inherent to shooters. They definetly can cover serious topics. Its just that Bungie really went all in on making tiny storybeats a weekly occurence that revolves around you killing stuff
But "kill as many things as you can to make Eris stronger" wasn't really a thing. All you did was complete the checklist. It's not like me actually killing 5 million enemies really did anything versus someone else killing 3 million enemes.
@@beng6149 I'll still take that over "clear out this bunker 10 weeks in a row to find out Rasputin was a bad father"
@@beng6149that’s true for every season activity
Dude. Stuff like that can't happen. People just find an exploit and beat it in a day anyway as shown with season of plunder. Exploiters and dataminers ruin cool stuff like that. It is what it is.@@beng6149
1:50 That is correct - if a Hive God loses its connection to its Throne World, it can no longer revive itself. It effectively becomes mortal. Eris evicted Xivu from her Throne World, severing her connection, meaning that if she dies, her soul has nowhere to return to. It's the Hive's equivalent to killing a Guardian's Ghost.

An underrated part of this season was that this was Bungie's way of doing a magical girl season of Destiny complete with a magical girl transformation scene.
.... Dear sweet fuck you're right... We even got a Magical Transformation Shader from Festival of the Lost.
and a magical girl ghost
What on earth you on about? 🤔
Now that I have my opinion about Season of the Witch, I can’t wait to dive in and play it!

But saltagreppo said it sucks. My opinion is better than yours since it adds more challenge to the game
Datto killing it with these ad breaks, the “yes-yes zone” line killed me haha
The last few seasons could’ve been considered some of the game’s best seasons, if they were released 2 or 3 years ago. I just feel so incredibly tired of this model, man. There’s infinite bloat from constant pouring of guns that all do the same thing but look slightly different. It’s rare that we get weapons/armor/gear that feel truly impactful, unique, etc. idk spontaneous bloat rant. I wanna go on about the more serious stuff with the studio but it’s just infuriating
WItch? Definitely
Deep? Maybe
Defiance? Definitely not
Don’t be mistaken we did that. The community has done this. Bungie has been horrified of power creep because our response for sunsetting was one of the biggest tantrums I’ve ever seen from a gaming community. So now we get no new interesting loot from anything
Honestly crafting ruins a-lot of the fun too I don’t care about actually getting loots because I can just craft it later. I hope we get some form of sunsetting in the future so powerful stuff can be faded out and replaced
@@dylanmiller1140 Sunsetting is never going to happen again given the nearly two year long tantrum that ensued from it occurring the last time. At this point there's little likelyhood of Bungie reversing their 'No Sunsetting' stance, players have just gotta eat crow as the old saying goes.
The lack of empathy for bungie is astounding. They've literally made all of our elemental guns into AOE clearing monsters. They've added some of the highest DPS perks possible. Kinetic tremors exists.
With the current perk pool, where do you go from here? How can you even innovate? We can't ask for more and better because all of the best stuff exists. Sunsetting would help, sure, but we've already seen the summit. This is the most powerful our guardians have ever been.
Sure, there is probably room for innovation in there somewhere. But we are at the borderlands cheeseburger gun levels of ridiculous at this point.
They could be wacky and add status effect legendary guns that make mobs stunned, poisoned or sleep, etc. But why do that when you can blow everything up with incandescent.
And it's our fault for throwing a communal fit about sunsetting all those years ago. So I don't know what to tell you man. If the game infuriates you and you don't like playing the seasons anymore. Maybe D2 just isn't the right fit anymore brother 🤷
I had to really internalize my thoughts about this game and 2 words perfectly describe what i feel. "I'm tired"
10 years is a long time. We've been on this ride all together, all the same. All the highs and lows for the game I am tired. So I think it's been a long enough ride for me, and when the witness is done then so am I.
As someone who didn't have the time to grind out the arcanas and solve all the Imbaru puzzles because I returned to d2 in like week 7 of this season after almost 7 months, it feels a bit sad to not get the ahamkara egg as an avid Lore nerd.
I think you still can though? Unless you meant getting it along with everyone else. Pretty sure it doesn't go away until TFS comes out
You can still complete the Seasonal Quests, fellow Lightbearer!
The deck of whispers has been one of the best things we’ve ever gotten in the game and I personally thought the activities and story were towards the top as far as seasons go
I would find it so much more enjoyable to engage with it as a mechanic if I knew what each card did. Season of the Deep made it so the game would tell you exactly what buff you were getting, not sure why they didn’t do the same thing for Witch
I found it completely inconsequential. The only card that was remotely noticable was the one that granted extra heavy drops. If two+ people got that at the same time, everyone could use their heavy as a primary. Outside of that, the effects were too minor to matter. I'm already surviving and killing without the buffs, so occasionally getting a boost of health or damage didn't make any difference
Eris was awesome
@@drkillbrew6387 Clearly someone hasn't played with The Lie activated. Nigh Infinite Banner of War Flechette Storm, i.e. Titan Blade Barrage, is fun.
I want them in a special Crucible Mode. As Kill Streaks.
Honestly didn't expect that abrupt, but well-done promotion ad popping up.
I feel like one of the biggest issues was the weapons, yes eremite is best in slot for dps but everything was a throw away weapon. Remember last year we got drang, beloved, and austringer. That was exciting. We need more meaningful loot and less throw away weapons. Plus something to do with all the extra wish engrams maybe you can turn in x amount for an exotic engram or something.
I agree with this. A ton of lackluster weapons with no meaningful loot chase. I hope next season we get better weapons and like you said, something more to do with wish engrams
Not to mention that they give us loot, and then it just like stops which is demoralizing. Going from getting tons of things to getting nothing makes me quit playing.
Weapons got a full rework this season on top of us getting banger after banger weapons in other places for content all over destiny. Since the seasonal weapons will forever be craftable making them best in slot every season will just accelerate power creep which will lead to even more artificial difficulty in pve and EVEN MORE braindead play in pvp. It's literally not healthy for the game to do that. That's without considering sunsetting left us with no options for weapon types so we had to wait to get something like a good void scout, now we have a raid option and a good seasonal one so whether you're an endgame player or a casual one you have build crafting options with similar feel but unique perks. I'm not saying every weapon slaps because you can't pay me to use the seasonal lmg but they all have a place because not everyone plays raids and dungeons or farms godrolls from the core playlists. They are more options instead of the BEST option out the box.
Apologies, this turned into a much longer comment than I meant it to be. If you just read the first 2 paragraphs since those are the ones replying to your comment I fully understand. (I get out of control sometimes on things im passionate about lul)
this is the problem though because 1. abilities have powercrept so much for the last few years that weapons are becoming less and less important overall and 2. no sunsetting means that the only way to make people interested in new weapons is making things that are straight up better than what we already have, at that point power creep is just gonna start spiraling out of control and worst case you might wind up like Diablo 3 did where we had gotten so powerful that the game straightup couldnt scale high enough to maintain difficulty.
The issue you point out is clearly one of the reasons playercounts are down but its part of a much more deeply rooted problem and releasing better and more exciting weapons is a bandaid fix that's gonna create much bigger problems down the line
My personal opinion is that they should rely much more on artifact mods to power creep us in seasons because unlike weapons they'll go away after 3 months. Remember back in y4? We had mods like breach&clear and particle deconstruction, mods that changed the meta for their respective seasons, that made the game alot more replayable because even old content now played completely different with the balance changes those mods brought.
(This is also part of the reason why the crafting bug weekend saw some of the highest player counts we've had in a long time, it completely changed how the game played. Should it have been kept in the game? no of course not it completely broke everything. But was it fun to mess around with for a while before returning to your regular programming? hell yes it was.)
Ever since Witch Queen except for maybe Volatile flow no artifact has had that kind of impact on a seasons weapon meta and combined with no sunsetting it means that the only things people are interested in chasing are the weapons that are just straight up better than what's already in the game.
Is meta changing artifact mods also just a bandaid fix on a more deeply rooted problem surrounding player retention? Yeah it probably is. However unlike just releasing stronger and stronger weapons each season this bandaid won't cause additional problems down the line since if a mod is too strong and breaks the game, its gone in 3 months anyways.
The last meaningful loot you say was added is literally an old gun they slapped new perks and crafting on. Insane. How deep will the laziness go
I tend to play the story not bit by bit but wait and play it all in like 2 days when it is wrapped up as that is generally more enjoyable to me.
Sadly, this meant that the whole big reveal about the egg and the 15th wish were spoiled for me immediately by youtube thumbnails and titles, just writing it out there which made experiencing it a whole lot less epic.
That said, I still got exited cause WE MIGHT GET A CUTE WISH DRAGON BABY!!!! AHHHHHHHH
IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO THE BEAN, HEADS WILL ROLL!!!!!
Honestly that's more of an issue on shitty youtubers putting spoilers in the title and thumbnail then anything else.
@@elixir478
Very true. Screw all of them
Normally I’d agree but bungie themselves spoiled it relatively quickly this time around. I assume it’s because they were /are getting a lot of slack for the firing coverage and wanted to deflect some of the negative coverage. Sadly that means that the info was basically broadcast immediately lol. But yea shitty UA-camrs ruining surprises for a thumbnail does suck.
IF A HERETIC BREATHS NEXT TO BEAN IT WILL SUFFER SWORD LOGIC
@@Ineedbout3fiddy i dont think that a reveal for a season that has been in development for at least a year could be made haphazardly as a response to feedback thats been made less than a month ago
we'd still get the season 23 reveal when the final imbaru engine puzzle came out, regardless of layoffs happening or not
You forgot to mention the Craftening as one of the hightlights of the season 😀
This is the first season I haven't got level 100 in, only up to 55. I haven't even finished the seasonal story. It just isn't the same anymore.
yup i made it to season pass lvl 60 the first time i didn't complete a season pass since season 7.The game doesn't feel fun anymore it feels like a slog
I don’t think that section of your video was awkward - I think you were being real and I respect that. You should do what’s best for you and honestly, the suica game stuff has been hilarious to watch. I would definitely still watch your content regardless of what game you move to
I did like the idea of having to run around the activity looking for the seasonal upgrades (the major arcana cards) so I would like to see that next season (even tho it’s already to late to offer that feedback because seasons are ending after next one)
Seasonal story was cool
The savathunes spire was basically a cool strike so that was fun~ish kinda feels like a less bad version of the throne world activity, the alters of summoning was alright, I wouldn’t mind seeing some more like the one in the dreaming city or the actual court of oryx
Embaru engine wasn’t that hard, was a fun mind challenge
Weapons weree kinda mid but fun like the scout and fusion, armour was cool , the whole enemy armour feel I like, seasonal ornaments were okay and exotic weapon was okay, I don’t use it so
Croats was fun! Sexy armour is back, wish we got the ornamental set for vault
Exotic rotator good
If I recall right, Season of Opulence also had something like this. Had hidden lore bits that you could find after completing a run, which is why there was like.... 122+ seconds at the end of mission.
Datto didn't cover it in the vid but we also had the crafting bug happen this season
Your fun videos ruled dude, more please. DattoDoesComedy is peak content
I legit look forward to those vids lmao. I don't look forward to much on youtube. The group chemistry is just perfect lol
A little niche, but I hope they bring back zero hour and/or whisper for the exotic rotator. Would love to be able to play those again
I could see season of plunder weapons dropping from zero hero, since if I recall none of those drop from the current rotation (granted idk any of those being must have) I hope they fix those 2 up so they work with the beyond light engine update
I take a week or two break every week or two , and it’s overall helped me enjoy the game, personally this was the best season this year, I actively enjoyed it instead of just calling it aight
So out of 3 beyond dogshit seasons with little to nothing going on story wise…yeah it’s the best
@@mrlunar62can you count?
I just wanna remind that I'm not really sick of destiny, but there were like 6 GotY contenders worth playing this year I just haven't had the time.

Datto has the best sponsor ads!!!
I completely missed the Manscape Imbaru Engine puzzle this season.
I couldn't bring myself to complete anything past the first few weeks of this season. After nearly 10 years I'm just exhausted of it all. It's not a fatigue season for me, or a 'take a break' one, it's worse. It's that I don't really care anymore. I will see it through to The Final Shape and hope to get some closure, but it feels like a slog getting there.
I'm not even remotely interested in next season which kinda upsets me. As someone who's been there since the beginning - played through the bad times and the dark times, invested thousands and thousands of hours. It's heartbreaking to feel so disinterested in these final few seasons and hardly any excitement for The Final Shape. 😒
Same fam. My friend group and I have had this exact sentiment, and we plan on doing a raid marathon to have some fun and get our team ready for day 1.
I feel the same way
I'm curious as Datto said he would be into doing content with the League of Legends MMO. What about doing a series where you pick a popular MMO and play it for a month or a certain amount of hours and give your thoughts? Do it as a stream of playing the MMO then do a video like this for your thoughts after? Or even do the vanilla story of the game as a base line? Even if you have played them before, why not a new character? Try to figure out some build crafting even if the game has that at all? Guild Wars 2 and FF14 being main ones I imagine for this idea.
Sounds very boring
@@omensoffateDestiny's pretty boring as well, so not much will change.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I’ve missed….80% of this Season 😳 …..WOW that hasn’t happened in YEARS
Not to mention that the 15 wish was on Savathun's wings the whole time.

I like the jez approach to the ad read

I'm happy my opinion is out there for everyone to see. Thanks!
I started this game during season of the arrival. I gotta say i was more invested when i believed bungie had a solid direction and plan for the transition and exit of this game. From the perspective of a consumer, i feel like they are jumping through hoops without the confidence they once had in their abilities to deliver and kill. I doubt the company now. Something feels different and off. Ill still get the expansion, but my bar is lower than it ever was. I am mainly talking about where the story is going and what their perceived vision is. 🤔 just feels like the game is trying to survive instead of crush. And those are different things.
Damn, that slightly different angled Datto looks well groomed.
Love you datto and love this game, hope to see it come out the dark once again, but also will be here if it doesn’t
7:05 That's because you're in the top 1% with your gear and build. I was just playing with a casual build I find enjoyable but that doesn't empty rooms of mobs the moment I step into them, so for me the bonuses were quite enjoyable as an extra treat. Especially because I could cater them to my own playstyle somewhat rather than old seasonal content where you just had set bonuses that you had to acknowledge and build towards.
I really liked this Season, probably my favourite time of the game's year, and as someone who was let go similarly just a week before Bungie's staff were, I quickly moved on from what was, in reality, just a bump in the road. I've always enjoyed the Dreaming City aesthetic, and I'm a big bow fan. So with the splash art of this new season featuring a most likely craftable bow, I'm already happy with what little I've seen of it.
And with the extended duration of the season, it means I'll be able to put this game on the backburner for a while and go back to some other games that I've been lagging behind on lately. I can understand D2-only creators being worried, but normal players should just roll with it and let themselves wander away from D2 for a little while - the game will feel so much better after a break, I'm sure.
Guardian Games is coming back? Damn, that's a shame...
Also, somewhat related: I hope that one of these days we'll get craftable event weapons.
My main gripe with the season is that there was no 6 man activity I have a friend group of 4 people so if we wanted to do seasonal content someone was getting benched I’m hoping wish has a 6 man activity
Altars could’ve been more fun if it was a 6 man activity now that i think about it
Guess you can’t do strikes either
@@kevinmalcom4243literally nobody does strikes unless it's a GM or a Master with double loot which nowadays is worthless since they made the difficulty modifiers make master and GMs the same exact thing minus a FEW encounters where GMs feel harder...all that for MUCH lesser loot on masters compared to GM.
@@kevinmalcom4243 yeah the only options are really gambit which isn’t too bad, crucible and 6 man activities
Same, but generally the game DESPERATELY needs more 6 player PVE core activities (or something more than 3 players), legend dares is kinda ok but not enough and nothing kills the mood more than having to exclude people because there's nothing for groups inbetween 3 and 6 player
I missed this season but damn it sounded awesome.
It really wasn’t. Datto is in full Bungie attorneys mode rn and have been since people have been criticizing d2
As Datto did the Manscaped ad read I got a mid roll ad, from manscaped
Love your videos Datto
If it wasn't for the fact that this seasonal model has been going on since Shadowkeep, I think this years seasons would all be considered top. These seasons have all had Stand out parts. The lowest point being defiance, due to the disappointing story, but overall the weapons, armour and activities were actually pretty cool.
Season of the deep had a massive lore drop (should've been in Lightfall, but I digress) and literally Deep dives and Ghosts of the deep.
This season had:
A stay as long as you want activity, which is a first of it's kind.
The deck of whispers.
Crota's end being an actual raid that is one of my favourites.
A great story.
Savathun's spire being cool.
Overall, Lightfall's year is shaping up like Beyond Light's, where despite the controversial DLC drop, be it sunsetting in BL and a failure of meeting the same Quality bar of TWQ in Lightfall, the year overall is actually pretty good.
Looking forward to season of the wish (an hour after launch at least due to my work schedule)
Idk if there has ever been another creator that I have resonated with at such a level as Datto. Man, every video you put out is a banger, been following on Twitch since 2014 when the game came out. Your opinions are always so close to how I feel about this game. We love it. We just want to love playing it as well. We've been here since the beginning. I want to trust Bungie. I want to have faith in them. I'm a little peeved that it took so long to officially announce the delay, but I'm glad it has at least been cleared up. If they want to delay it to improve the expansion, I'm all for it. It's the culmination of a 10 year journey, it HAS to be good. I don't want the ending to suck as hard as Game of Thrones or something and absolutely ruin my entire experience.
it's a shame, it has been a banger but it's been overshadowed by a lot of the irl stuff happening around it during this time
how
Yes the video is very good. But I couldn’t focus after laughing so hard at the “it’s going to be a yes yes zone, you feel me” joke in the ad.
I liked this season, but I haven't played for shit. The weapons were good too, just not much to do outside the seasonal activity 😅.

Agree about the cards. I couldn’t really be bothered to be engaged with them and it never felt like I needed to
Yea I still don’t know how the cards even worked
@@Earendil87 in the Helm, it tells you what all of the Cards do and you can choose which ones are in your deck (the solid ones) to "Build" it, 5 minimum. I liked The Lie, nigh infinite melees. I covered the map in Throwing Hammers a few times. Flechette Storm never touches the ground. Constantly Throwing Shields for Overshield and Volatile spreading (via Controlled Demolitionist).
Out of the 5-6 past seasons this one was only one that i made it season rank 200+. Which long for i had a grand ol time with this season.
At 24:52 I hope this "Wanting people to log in every week" idea doesn't mean more FOMO, I feel like the game already has too much of that and if they continue to add more things that go away if you don't play 24/7 it won't be good.
remember sparrow racing league ? yeah me neither
Sounds like they're going for things like wacky modifiers, unique activities opening on certain weeks, and in-game mini events. Things that just make the game feel different week over week.
There are so many issues with the lore this season. Bungie put out in the original Books of Sorrow back in D1 describing the origin of the hive and how they function. With all the people they fired, their new lore writers literally probably had no idea about the books of sorrow and that Eris could not have done HALF the shit she did without following the sword logic. Also, you can't kill a hive god, take their power, and then have them respawn like nothing happened. We killed Xol, Oryx, Crota, etc and make them into weapons as the sword logic dictates. Per the sword logic, the guardian should have been the one to tithe too....not eris. Since Eris killed no hive gods and we've killed many. Lore wise, we should have become the taken king after we killed Oryx and we didn't cause they wouldn't do that to our character. But the fact that they took Eris, since D1, who would have NEVER chosen to become a hive...is now a hive god and who thinks they can just do what they want outside of the sword logic??? nah, bro none of this makes sense and I really wanna know what Byfe and Merrin have to say about how this season's story literally makes no sense regarding the lore of previous seasons, character stories, and lore.
Thanks for the txt I actually thought it was me lol
I think the fact that huge layoff wave happened this season changed our perception about how good this season actually was, and we basically put it under the rug of “shitty ones”, even thought it was fairly neat. But I have to say, this layoff scandal, loss of Michael Salvatori and many others, has been the biggest factor for me in taking a break from the game.
Honestly, I have no idea when I even will come back, its the most hopeless I felt about Destiny ever since Lance’ Reddick passing away and now there is just this big void inside of me every time I think about playing this game.
The story was ungodly boring, the weapons were at best dogshit, the activities were a snooze fest after 2 runs, crota was so boring I actually fell asleep on contest mode…like…nothing good or outstanding came about this season.
21:56
The Pyramid Joe
Eris has gone to a level beyond super saiyan!!
Season of the Witch was A-tier imo
The low player count is honestly because of the state of the game at its core, which is very bad right now. Very few additions to ANY core playlists over the past few years have made for the slow deterioration of player engagement, and it just so happens that Season of the Witch was released at the point of the year that usually has the lowest relative player count.
I mean they didn’t improve the game for the past 4 years. The seasons r exactly the same as they were 4 years ago. No innovation, no effort.
Got my patterns on week two. Never played seasonal activities ever since.

I played the most this season. Rank 500 and +31 power.
I’m so burnt out at this point that I don’t even wanna hop to play the new dungeon, and I consider dungeons and raids to be peak destiny 2. It’s just been so long man; I’m ready for the story to finish up and I am ready for a new big game to compete with what destiny was (and is) with a fresh twist on the Bungie formula.
Make sure to take a break and play other games. I've done this recently, totally refreshed when I got back in a few weeks ago. My buddies and I did a Nezarec farm which 5 out 6 got conditional finalities.
We are ready for season of the wish and cannot wait for the new dungeon. So please take a break, the content won't go away and you can come back super fresh.
Kindly,
Fellow Guardian
Go take a break and play something else.
I like the idea of the Deck Of Whispers on paper, but there's no variety to it. The forced 5 cards, but only 9 options kills any creativity. Think about it, you are going to pick the two ammo ones, and at least one of the ability ones (probably both), because there's barely any options, and of course you want infinite ammo and/or abilities for every single fight. And you definitely aren't running the Harbinger card, because the explosions interfere with everything from subclass or exotic perks, to making progress on bounties or challenges. So just like that, half your cards are already, pretty much forcefully determined for you whether they're in or not. Then if you aren't running a particular *Light* element enough to justify pulling a card that only benefits you with that specific element, you're going to run the same 5 cards. Every. Single. Time.
Could've been a great system, ended up being the least engaging part of the season imo.
Moments of Triumph starts in February or ends in February?
This season was freaking amazing in my opinion. I love the Hive lore and I love Eris. The deck of cards was amazing. One of the first seasons I’ve genuinely enjoyed since the witch queen DLC. Looking forward to what’s to come, but expectations are low. Maybe they will surprise us haha.
I'd like to see Bungie talk about buttered sausage. Buttered sausage, where it comes from, what it does, why its doing what it's doing, and getting it out of our faces.
Awkward transition Datto is my favourite Datto.
Datto putting out an in depth video 🤝 Bungie dropping a massive update
Always, it always happens lol
... Massive update?
Wait, Savathun was revived again and left? Didn't see that cutscene
It was hidden in a lore entry instead of a cutscene because no budget.
Again, in for the sponsor ad
I took this entire season off which is the first time I've done that since the sundial activity in season 12 I think.
i stopped playing when the ddos attacks were happening. tried a crucible match and 2 strikes so i didn’t bother with season after i got kicked from all 3
I wish I had more interest in playing the game this season, but the burnout hit hard af. After the whole layoff situation, I and almost everyone who I played with started moving towards other games.
Don’t know if it was you or another creator but I distinctly remember bungie and several of y’all saying don’t like it don’t play it. Well that kind of “fine I’ll take my ball home” type of thinking is what sealed the deal for me and many others. Guaranteed things would never get better.
DATTO!!! SUP CUZ. WHICH PERKS DO YOU USE ON YOUR EREMITE FOR PvE?
Seasonal activity tier list?
FINALLY! My opinion has been uploaded! Thank you, Dadto ❤
This season was the first season pass i did not complete since season 7 i hated the activities especially the altars of summoning. I think i made it to lvl 60 on the season pass cause i just didn't care to log in.
Datto is one of the only people whose ads I don’t skip through cause they’re so damn funny.
I hope that they really mean that they’re going to try to make it so that people are excited to log in every week for episodes, and not that everyone feels like they have to to grind out some dumb/repetitive weekly thing for mediocre rewards.
I swear that microphone gets longer and longer after every ad read
the crazy thing is your manscaped ad was interrupted by a manscaped ad LUL....
If bungie is just now asking questions about getting people excited about loot, I don’t think anything will change in final shape.
GOtta say, as kind of anti climatic as it is for Eris to not challange Xiva Arath directly through some loophole, I don't mind how they ended it, there is some logic to it. Eris has been stockpiling power this whole Season, the Hive Gods hadn't killed each other for so long, Savathuun had been feeding on the confusion around her schemes for some time now, and with Eris being a Hive God now she was able to take Savathuun's stored power making her more powerful then Xivu, but the Hive Gods I guess always had the power to cut each other off from their Throne WOrlds, but as their constant warring was considered loe for them and they never wanted to permenantly kill each other, they never did this. THus Eris havign no love for them did this and cut Xivu off from her THrone World making her mortal. I like this as it lets us deal with Xivu for now as a major threat without killing her for good yet. My guess is that next we'll see of her is after Final Shape in the "Heresy" Episode where she's likely be dealing with conflicting feelings over the Sword Logic, the WItness was wrong, the Sword Logic isn't everything, she's mortal now despite probably still being powerful, her sister Savathuun has abandoned her and Oryx is dead. She's alone and very vulnerable now. Where will that take Xivu?
I always wondered y datto paints his nails black have seen it alot just curious
I think the big problem, is that Destiny is so one-note. In most MMOs, you'd say play a healer class, and then when you get sick of healing, you'd jump onto your DPS class and it's almost like playing a totally different game. And you can mix it up when it gets repetitive. In Destiny, every class uses the exact same weapons, and fulfils pretty much the exact same role in combat, and it's also a chore to keep moving your weapons across on DiM constantly... It would be so much better to just have your inventory across all 3 characters be unified, or get rid of characters and let your single character switch between all 3 classes. It is just far too easy to get sick of Destiny because there are only so many different ways you can shoot an enemy in the head, and it shouldn't be this repetitive if it's an MMO that is designed to last years.
I feel like for Bungie's next game, if they do an MMO again, they need to really make the classes actually different. With their own weapons that only they can use. Like a Stealth class that can put powerful enemies to sleep to help the team, and approach combat in a totally different way to the guns-blazing approach. A support class that can drain life from enemies and use it to give overshield and damage boosts to their allies etc. And the MMO world also needs to feel alive. You should be able to become a master crafter who can make things that your friends can't make, so that you can feel appreciated, and also use your craft to make some money at an auction house etc. Some very basic things that most MMOs have, which help you break up the monotony, that Destiny doesn't have. It's amazing that Destiny's gunplay is so great that it has carried the game on its back for 10 years, but it's not enough for an MMO which requires a breadth of activities.
Also, there is no joy in looting. There are no cool armour pieces you pick up, because all the good stuff is in the Eververse shop. Looting feels less like you're growing in power, and more like you're climbing your way out of being weak, because the Bungie gods have cursed your character when the new season came out, and you have to climb out the ditch all over again in the same boring repetitive gameplay loops.
15th wish is Datto getting World First clear in Final Shape
Nice video bro
Just bring back Scourge of the past and Levi with refreshed weapons. I would play tf out of that
Idk I'm just burnt out on the seasonal model, Destiny 2, and live service games in general. It feels like they are demanding all of your time and energy but with minimal payoff other than the "chase". I've taken a break from D2 and at this point I don't see myself jumping back in for the next season or expac because now I'm valuing my time more and using it to do more useful and constructive things which does suck because I truly do love Destiny and it's world but I don't love how much I **have** to play the game.
If I was in a better mindset or if the previous seasons didn't burn me out, I would have loved Season of the Witch.
This was the first season I didn’t complete the story 😭
i gotta be honest, once i completed the season pass i stopped playing. I can't even remember when i started/ended. I mingled in the halloween event for a bit as well.
The reason people are losing interest is because there isnt a reason to do anything at a certain point: why grind for new weapons when the ones you have are still better or equal to new ones? why grind new armor when you already the armor pieces you want with the exact roll on substats you want?
As much as people hate it, sunsetting was and still is a necessary evil for the game to evolve because it would have allowed old perks to fizzle out and new ones to be made that didnt have to compete against reload perk/damage perk combo.
Amor should have been givent thereckoning treatment giving bufs depending on what role you wanted to be and augmented your effectiveness in fulfilling that role, like having a strike armor set that made gave you buffs for stunning champions, a crucible armor that gave buffs depending on your streak, raid armor that made certain roles be easier or gave buffs to incentivizie riskier strategies and just stuff like that.
