      Tiger Shark No problem! I would recommend trying out a saltwater tank with saltwater fish to practice before getting the shark. A pair of Clownfish are a good fish to start with. Once you have a hang of that then start researching sharks more. They are very messy so it takes a lot of work to keep the water clean. They also live for many years. You can do it but like training for a marathon it takes some practice. Check out my other video for tips on starting a saltwater aquarium. Good luck!

    • @PuffDaddyReef

      Mitch Callo 1.5 years for a newborn. Mine grew from 6in to 1 foot in a year. Just keep the bioload low and an uncluttered rock scape.

    My country has a law about keeping wildlife which is only allowed to own native creatures only unless you have a license or own a zoo so not really a problem if owners dont want their creatures anymore, just release them because its natural for the land anyways

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  4 роки тому +1

      I am happy that I can own a shark in the USA. Oddly enough, it is illegal in many places in the US to keep native creatures like Bass in some cases. People have released exotic pets into the wild though and made big problems, like pythons in the Florida everglades. We need to educate people better on the problems that can cause.

    • @PuffDaddyReef

      I lillerly don't even know anymore The big thing is they do not tolerate copper medication that is sometimes used to treat ick in fish. They have about the same tolerance for water quality but they eat bigger pieces of food and dirty the tank much quicker so it takes more work to keep the water clean.

    • @seth1571
      @seth1571 5 років тому

      @@PuffDaddyReef I'm assuming they don't like the copper medications because they don't have scales? Also the part where you recommended about the vitamins what are they for and do I really need them?

  • @seth1571

    Hey I got a question, is a tank that is the length of 30 feet, width of 4 feet and height of 4 feet okay for like 5 sharks(like bamboos and cats), 1 sting ray and a medium sized eel?

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  5 років тому

      I lillerly don't even know anymore 30 feet long? That will be just fine for 5 bamboos and a small ray and eel. Just remember to introduce them slowly, have a good skimmer, and keep up on water quality.

  • @34r343

    Can you keep bamboo sharks or cat sharks with green chromis

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  4 роки тому +2

      I would. Green chromis is a good choice because they are mid to high water column and don't interact on the sharks level. Also, they are cheap so if they do happen to become a snack, it is no big deal.

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  6 років тому +1

      Sell the 55 and get a Rubbermaid pond if you have the space. It would be a cool set up. In 9 months you will have to move it out of the 55 anyway.

    • @nobodyinparticular5346

    I’m thinking of getting a shark for my tank, well it more like an above ground pond. It’s 6 feet by 3 feet and 2 feet high. Do you think that’s enough for a single shark? Like an epaulette are a bamboo?

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  6 років тому

      Liam But That should be great for either one, especially the epaulette. Check out the advanced aquarist article link in the description.

      Puff Daddy Reef perfect! One more thing. Do you think I can also house a panther grouper in there with the shark?

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  6 років тому

      Liam But I am not a grouper expert but they should do fine, as long as the grouper is not full grown when the shark is a 7 inch hachling, but most groupers are sold small. They will add to the bioload so keep an eye on nitrates.
