      That is what is great about it. Anytime you get bored you can mix it up. New corals, sps, nps, seahorses, frogfish, just find something new.

    I never thought about sharks in my tank until i seen him walking around you've got my wheels turning now

    They typically reach 30" in an aquarium and are very quick growers. What will you do with him when he outgrows your tank? Cool fish, but I don't think your system is big enough to support him...

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  5 років тому +7

      The first year he should get to 16 inches. 22 by the second. (but follow along and we shall see if it is sooner!) I have the means for a much bigger tank when the time comes.

  • @colossuses

    He will eat any fish that will fit inn his mouth. Esp when they sleep. Have lots of caves that he cannot get into is the key. Or bigger fish like tangs

  • @SpaghettiKillah
    @SpaghettiKillah 5 років тому +10

    Dude I had EXACTLY the same setup as yours...600lt w some live rock. I got the exact same shark.
    He started eating after 2 days...I used a metal stick to bring the food down to the bottom. After a few weeks he would smell it and jump out from unde the rocks and swim up for it by itself.
    After like 6-7 months he started EATING MY FISH during the night!!! one by one...first the small ones...then also my yellow tang! wtf?? I thought he had to be big before he eats such big fish....nope! so be very careful. That clown fish is the 1st to go...they're too slow and too dumb during the night when the lights are off and they're "sleeping".

    • @PuffDaddyReef

    @joshua4023 5 років тому +1

    Not trying to be a jerk or anything but did you do any kind of research before buying this shark? Sharks shouldnt be put in a tank with corals/reef because they are not reef safe. That clown fish is just another source of food for the shark and that tank isnt big enough for that shark.

  • @portwolf2293
    @portwolf2293 5 років тому

    Just a suggestion, round tank, more open rockscape, if you're going for coral no LPS or SPS, stick with low growing non stinging soft corals maybe zoanthids.
    And I would recommend a roller mat filter and protien skimmer with ozone.
    If nitrate and phosphate go out of control which with those 2 pieces of equipment is unlikely, just add live phytoplankton.
    Sounds crazy but phytoplankton eats nitrate and phosphate rapidly and will feed your pods and coral.
    Something else that can help is an algae scrubber, and can feed your fish the algae.

  • @Desmo1
    @Desmo1 5 років тому

    Drip acclimation should be done with temp in mind, the two volumes of water will almost always be significantly different especially if the smaller container is around any air flow like an AC vent or fan. In a setup like this bag floating in the sump is the best with the drip line from the display to the bag in the sump.

    I’m curious as to why no quarantine

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  5 років тому

      He is captive breed, so he does not have the most common shark parasites (isopods) and he can't carry many fish diseases. My typical QT has copper which is bad for sharks. Though perhaps I should have got him a 20 long tank to put him in for observation. It would have helped me figure out what he likes to eat sooner.

    • @shazzataz
      @shazzataz 5 років тому

      At this size he would do fine in a 40 breeder. Epaulette sharks love tight spaces, tidepools are their natural habitat. Someday he may need more room than what he has. And if he does I will give it to him. Here is some good info www.advancedaquarist.com/2004/6/fish
