It’s a whaleshark, and interestingly they are the least scary thing in the ocean 😆 .. I swam with them just a couple months ago in Exmouth, Western Australia. It’s perfectly safe to do so as they mainly eat plankton, the captain of the boat said, “he would probably choke on a loaf of bread” 😆 … this is due to the size of his oesophagus. I didn’t realise how true this was until I looked at the photos of the day and the photographer had managed to get a pic of one of them with his mouth open, hands down one of the funniest wildlife photos I’ve seen. They’re a gummy shark with a tiny mouth really. I was terrified getting up close to him due to his sheer size, but they sit and chill just under the surface most of the time. So unscary in fact that schools of little fish chill out underneath them. Very cool experience! They are totally unbothered by humans, basically ignoring our presence altogether. The tourism boat captains use planes to spot them from above as they’re so massive you can see them like big blobs just sitting there. In Exmouth it’s very ethical though, only a select, small amount of boats have permits to take people to see them so as not to saturate the area, you don’t get too close etc for those wondering and although you possibly could (and I’ve heard of this happening) - touching the sharks is absolutely forbidden.
