0:32 Maokong Gondola - Taipei cable car
On our first few days in Taipei, we tried to take the Maokong Gondola cable car, and unfortunately due to stormy weather, they canceled the service as they don’t run it when there is any sort of bad weather. So on Day 11 of this Taipei travel guide video series, we returned to Taipei Zoo Station and returned to the Maokong Gondola, this time in the morning when it was nice and sunny. Since it was a morning on a weekday, there was little traffic, so we easily got on the cable car, and took the ride to Maokong station, which took a little under 30 minutes to reach the top. The Maokong Gondola is one of the best things to do in Taipei, really great views, cheap, and a nice place to visit.
2:41 Taiwanese stinky tofu
There was a little food court at the top of the Maokong Gondola, and when I smelled the stinky tofu, I knew that’s exactly what I needed to eat. It was deep fried, then covered in a sauce and then some pickled cabbage. It was pretty delicious, and made a nice mid-morning snack. After eating the stinky tofu and walking around for a bit, we took the Maokong Gondola back down as we had some more things to do for the day.
5:50 Jin Feng Restaurant
For lunch we went to Jin Feng Restaurant, a famous place to eat Taiwanese braised pork and rice. I included just a short clip of the food here as I will make a full video about this restaurant coming soon.
7:11 Lin Family Mansion and Garden
Another one of the places I really wanted to visit before leaving Taipei was the Lin Family Mansion and Garden, an ancient and well preserved family home and garden within the city. The entrance fee was free, and they said there were some tours of the mansion in Chinese, but the day we went there were no tours in English so we just walked around on our own. The Lin Family Mansion and Garden was incredible, really old and preserved, felt like a real throwback. I especially liked the Chinese gardens.
9:53 Lin Liu-hsin Puppet Theatre Museum and Dihua Street
Located in the Dihua street area, we went to Lin Liu-hsin Puppet Theatre Museum, a museum with one of the largest collections of Asian puppets. The museum was alright, especially if you enjoy fine arts. After going to the museum we then walked around Dihua street, known for Chinese spices, herbs, and medicine. I bought some Sichuan pepper corns.
11:39 228 Peace Memorial Park
Our final attraction to visit in Taipei was 228 Peace Memorial Park, and it was just a quick stop we made before going back to our hotel area of town.
12:14 Hot pot dinner
We ended the day with another Taiwanese hot pot dinner.

I met a woman today who is going to Taipei for a year to teach English. I told her about your vlogs! She was so excited!
Seeing the pristine streets and no horns on the streets of Taiwan is such a breath of fresh air after watching your Indian videos, it was chaotic, dirty and out of control...
Ying is such a beautiful lady. I'm glad she's getting more comfortable being captured in the video clips these days.
Ying is so blessed to me humble and well travelled a husband who loves food and still be so healthy and you two oh and lil Micha just asking when will Micha try table food next generation foodie. Lol great videos
This guy is one happy man while eating different food items without any criticism. I love it! 👍😁
Head tilt, nod, smile, ooooh ohhh, non blinking .
You giggling about the sauce on the camera lens. Priceless.
You ate the peppercorns, next scene, hospital stop. Thought the peppercorns had done you in. Lol. Amazing vlog.
Hello Ying. So good to see you in the vlogs.
I now watch UA-cam travel videos more than television. I thank you for all the hard work in editing and having to constantly record your actions when sometimes I am sure you would rather just enjoy yourself without the hassle. You wife is gorgeous also and seems sweet, you hit a home run. I know you dont like her on camera too much as she doesnt speak English but many of us speak Thai and would love to hear her opinion also.
I'm loving these videos, it makes me miss Taiwan so much. I can't stop cracking up at your pronunciations of place names and food dishes though, they sound so Thai!
Mark and Ling, I want to thank you for all your vlogs. I don't think I will be able to re-creat any of your spectacular ventures the rest of my life time, but I am thankful I can pretend to live through vlogs. Thank you again.
+Andreas Reifenrath , my bad! Ying, please accept my apology for mis spelling your name.
1981cherokee1 no problem, thank you!
U already said what i wanna say and im so happy thank to him
Love your laugh. It made me smile. Beside the great Food & Travel information, I love the personal touches you and Ying share with us. Thanks for sharing. Also I am loving the shirts I purchased from you. They are so soft and comfortable.
Your laugh is the definition of happiness!
I am in Taipei right now, and your videos have been very helpful in planning our trip! Thanks Mark!
yeah and the hot pot is always awesome in Taipei. I am still always surprised how you enjoy food so much and really it's amazing . Safe travels to your next stop in good old Philippines.
You somehow make rotting food/gardens/buildings sound amazing!
My daughter and I have been binge watching your videos and we can't figure out why don't you have your own show on travel channel already?! Your vlogs are absolutely amazing!!!
Mark, as always, totally enjoy your films...I especially like seeing you push ALL that food into your mouth...Really funny and the great expression you have when you get a good full taste of the food. I follow you and yours as often as I can. Here's wishing you and yours the very best in your travels.
Danny
Mark, I've been following your videos for probably at least three years now.your travels never disappoinnt. That hot pot looked awesome!

I just met a students from Taipei at work ( International Boarding School located in On Canada) ...they miss their food from home ...now I know why! it looks delicious. ..thanks Mark 😉
*I missed this segment along the way, fantastic tour which reminds me of Medellin Colombia's metro cable from there city train service yet another guy's thanks to Mark & Ying!*
Taiwan is absolutely beautiful.
The food is beyond salivating and hunger inducing and I have yet to have lunch and dinner is four hours away-just spectacular. This series has been fascinating and scintillating and the people are beyond fascinating ad interesting.I just love the street food and the vendors who are so proud of their food, they have a French cuisine pride with a huge Taiwan twist-sigh!
+Bat mobile I would not say it's Chinese cuisine. It's Taiwanese cuisine. A lot of the flavors you won't find in Chinese restaurants.
It doesn't concern either French or Chinese.
If you could have read carefully, you would know it's not me who said that.
***** Dude go home, go get your Shat Mobile and drag it back into the cave you crawled out of.
That they are so cheerful is astounding when they are in the heat, cooking over hot grills, woks etc...and standing on their feet for hours on end. That is indeed pride in their food.
man you guys are both awesome! Mark your vlogs needs more Ying! Love your videos though, I think I've watched all of them and a few I've watched multiple times.
Mark go back to Taiwan post COVID please 😇 just watched the whole series, you’re helping me relive my memories from when I spent a summer there in ‘16! Miss it, Taiwan was lovely hope to go back
Taiwan is shaping up to be one of the most interesting places ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The food, The Fun everything about the place looks amazing !!!!!!!!!!
You are really treating your Taiwan fan base, keep up these videos! I have watched every day so far!
I don't comment much but I must say that I've been really enjoying your travel vlogs. Much appreciate the effort you put into these videos, making the viewers feel like we're along for the ride. The difference is in all the little touches, from selfie intros at every location, clear explanation of itinerary, concise editing, etc, which I can only imagine takes quite a bit of extra time & effort, but pays off in the end. It's clear that you are very passionate about food and travel, while having fun at the same time. Excellent job Mark!
By the way, my young daughter and I have a nickname for you -- Mr. No Blink! :)
Take care and looking forward to the next video.
Stinky Tofu is the best!!! I like the places you are going!! Can't wait to visit those places!! Thanks for sharing!!
I love how you and Ying make the most of every moment. You say she is camera shy but it's so obvious she is a strong woman in the best way. The food looked great but I just can't bring myself to the stinky tofu possibility. I am a mild super smeller and I love many things others can't handle, but I'm scared of stinky tofu and durian. Yes all may laugh at me, I certainly do :))
Cassandra haha i don't blame cassie duriam smells awful!!!
OMG! P'Ying is so cute >
Mark, I've been following your videos for probably at least three years now. Your travels never disappoint. That hot pot looked awesome!

Thank you❗️ You have opened my eyes to my own city of Toronto. With a very large Chinese population and many China Towns I thought I would search "stinky tofu." Thanks for your great videos. I'm a new fan and I lived in Taipei 13 years ago. Excellent Taiwan videos. I love your video style and that you bring your whole family w you. You always put a positive spin on things. Also, you are unbiased and pretty objective so it lets the viewer judge themselves. I feel so happy to join you guys on your journey and can't wait to see the rest of your videos!!

謝謝你來台灣!!
Welcome to Taiwan, thanks for your visit !!
you always seem to have a happy and easygoing style of vlogging, and lately i felt this has even increased! when you laughed because of the lense i automatically was cheery by myself and laughed in front of my laptop too...so i wanna say: instead of editing too much out, just keep it that way, its more natural anyway
BIG THUMBS UP
Yes, and when he put his transit card in the slot and it went flying out instead of swiping it. Ying appeared to get a big kick out of that lol
Wouldn't it be great to get a Mark and Ying Wiens BLOOPERS/OUTTAKES????? Thinking it would be a BIG seller along with his books except it would be a video. Yes, jpotion, the naturalness is great. I'd like to see Ying 'pie him' in the face with some whipped cream concoction. She walks behind him a lot....it would be so simple to do.
hahah i dont expect your laugh would be like that.
it's so funny XD
lmfaaooo, mark, your laughter is very contagious
Great video mark, enjoy this one very much but I'll still pass on stinky tofu. God bless you and your wife
I HAVE NEVER HEARD YOU LAUGH BEFORE AND IT WAS SO FUN
Stinky tofu sure sounds like a forever uncharted territory for my tongue D:

Very nice as usual, I'm anxiously awaiting tomorrow's vlog. See you then.
Wow! The only Gondola I have been on was when visiting Switzerland! That was so many years ago.

But your videos all 11 of them in Taipei is superb. I been to Taipei a few times but I have not seen half of the stuff nor the foods you have tasted. Well done and thanks.
