I've never seen another UA-camr show the Bulgogi Festival before. Great job presenting something new and something more cultural and something more authentically Korean than just the usual Korean restaurant food. I think this, plus the touching story at the UN memorial, makes it your best video in Korea. Thanks for showing me two things I've never seen before.
thank you so much! :) we had such a great time at the bulgogi festival, it was a total blast and we got to connect with so many cool people. and the UN memorial... something I'll never forget, for sure.
This video made me emotional, in the way you both were visually touched by the history of that pork gukbab, by the security guard lending you his shoes to get in, and all the heartbreaking history of the memorial. Y’all are great exemplary world trekkers.
My wife and I love Busan also. Last summer we stayed right on the beach in Songdo and this past May we stayed just off the beach at Haeundae. You show why Korean is such a fantastic place - they have preserved their history and culture with great pride, they have built some of the most modern cities in the world, the transportation network is excellent and the food is fantastic.
Oh hell nooo! Lisa and Josh starting a vlog with A Tribe Called Quest???!! You are truly my favorite (very hip) travel UA-camrs! Love your Busan videos!
My wife and I spent a few weeks in South Korea earlier this year, and Busan was our favorite stop. Most of our favorite dishes from the whole trip were from there, and spending the evenings along Gwangalli beach was great
What a fun video! Thanks for taking me along...loved the food, the activities and the fact that you threw in some practical travel tips at the beginning. Yay for practical travel tips! 🙂
I really love when a forgotten dishevelled neighbourhood is revamped and turned into a cultural gem. In this case the Gamcheon culture village was a wonderful way to repurpose, add art, and preserve Korean history. The meat is designed to be eaten in ssam (lettuce wraps) with ssamjang (chili- soybean paste) and banchan in 1 bite. I did not know about the bulgogi festival and was impressed that you tried the yukhoe (seasoned raw beef) - some tourists are too scared to try it. If you ever return to Busan there is a lovely cherry blossom tour.
The guys from Terra Beer are just promoting the brand sometimes they Quiz you, sometimes the make you play a game to win a prize. Many restaurants already sell the major brands so its not about competition more for brand recognition i would say. Hope you guys enjoyed the trip~!
2:08 and 33:11 - Hotteok makes its irresistible (and inevitable) appearance! Josh, you don't disappoint! #hotteok4life #teamhotteok #lisaandjoshandhotteok #hotteokdoesntcounttowardsbudget
Oh man, your Korea videos are always so good! I'm not sure how expensive hanwoo beef is in Korea, but considering it's basically Korea's wagyu, I think the prices seemed really fair! Also, I made it on to one of your vlogs (in comment form) at 3:12!
“Find your version of a bulgogi festival” is a travel ethos I’m going to live by. (Or maybe already do- we have a video about the National Cornbread Festival, after all.) Also I’m not sure anyone answered but when we were at Jalgalchi with our now friend (then incredible guide my dad hired), Heeyoung, she told us the soju folks are just paid to market certain brands and encourage people to drink that brand. Ours were handing out the little hangover satchets! Much appreciated. Those plus a good soup like you got- winning combo. Not that we would know. 😉 -S
Regarding the people associated with Terra beer (a subsidiary of Jinro (soju)) who came in while you were at barbecue, yes they are there to promote their specific booze. If you had an unopened bottle of a competitor on your table, they would offer to replace it with their own booze for free and give the bottle you had paid for back to the restaurant, which is why the restaurant owners are cool with it. Source: lived in Busan for three years, and want to move back already
The funny thing about this kind of incentive is that the restaurant owner is better off NOT to start offering that beer in his establishment in the hope of those people showing up and him making "free" money.
Love Busan! The smoothie you got was strawberry, haha, the other one was Mango. The raw meat is called Yukhae (not sure how to spell it in English, but it's pronounced sort of like Yook hway) and it's raw beef with pears and a raw egg yolk.
What an outstanding video.....great content, editing and insight on what is now a new vacation destination for us.. Thank you for sharing....beautifully done.
Great video. Busman added to my age 55 gap year. And I will watch the ads in full length so I can support you both on your journey. Keep up the great work.
I LOVE how you two have fun no matter what. Walking into a dirty karaoke room would cause most people to shift gears into negativity. But not you!! It's inspiring.
was waiting for video ... was wandering where your next destination was going to be ... Loved it! love love the 3 days 100$ a day travels ... so inspired by it. Im gonna use it for my trips from now on! following your travels all the way from Jeddah Saudi Arabia!
Just discovered your channel :) we'll be back in Korea visiting Seoul/Busan next Spring. Love the mix of humour and seriousness in this video. Our travelling style is quite similar, so thanks for your insights! On the one hand we always plan a few things ahead, but it's the unexpected kindness and awesomeness that you run into that makes things memorable.
ohh yes, we feel this so much! :) we always have to remind ourselves to leave room for the spontaneity and generosity of the place we're visiting and people we get to meet along the way. thanks for watching! :D
First. I love your vids. The crocs story had me ugly crying. These inserts are exactly why your videos are so captivating and inspiring. You both are amazing and really bringing faraway lands to us. Well done
You guys even went to the UN memorial cemetery! Respect!! As a korean who has served in the army, i really appreciate people visiting that place. Hope you enjoyed your time in korea. Also the place you went for bulgogi beef festival is called Chulma. Small town adjacent to Busan and well known for its high quality of beef! One of my favorite beef bbq restaurants is actually there too😁
I've been watching a Lot of vlogs and videos on Busan and Seoul to prep for my trip to SK in July and yours has been my favourite. Thanks! Continue enjoying life :)
Thank you so much guys. I learned something about Korea which I thought I knew a lot about.. love you guys ❤ and thank you for your hard work to make this episode of Korea.
There are so many places on earth to visit, but honestly the best places to go and to return to are always in Asia. Always things to do or to discover and the food is so fantastic, so cheap. Btw, this video is about Busan, but are you always combining several cities when flying to a country ? Are you travelling to Seoul, Busan, other places and editing separate videos for each city ?
I spent time in Busan while in the Navy, I don't remember seeing any American civilians there unless they were military dependents. It's great you visited the cemetery and honored American and Allied soldiers.
Food and drink go hand in hand in Korea and so unlike the US, where you can go into a bar and just order a drink, most places you will have to order food along with the drink. So there are so-called dive bars in Korea but you have to order food, usually people order the cheapest thing on the menu like peanuts and squid. As for the promotional guys that came into the restaurant, some restaurants allow them and some don't. They are just promoting beers and soju and give out snacks.
I was curious where you would go in Busan, it's one of my top 5 favorite cities in Korea. Next time, check out the Songdo Skywalk, which is open after the massive damage it encountered after Typhoon Hinnamnor last September. Take the Songdo Marine Cable Car (or walk) to Amnan Park and hike the mountain. Walk across the scenic Songdo Yonggung Cloud Bridge. You can also hike the Songdo Coastal Bolle-gil Trail for an up close and personal experience with nature. I went to the Memorial a few times, the first time for one of my blog subscribers. They live in Australia and could never afford to visit a family member's grave. So I went for her and took pictures. As a military spouse and mother, it was an emotional experience. Keep the vlogs coming. Btw... I love Gyeongju, Paju, Yeosu, and Mokpo.
This year it was in early June, but would recommend checking for the next year’s. We’ve heard in the past they were held in different months. Hope you get to go!!
That story about the guard at the UN soldier memorial is so touching. One thing that confuses me is why you called those that were disaffected by the Korean war or fallen refugees? They are Koreans or from Korea.
Not sure if this is going to get any response but here goes. I'm going to Seoul in few weeks and will be there for 8 nights. We planned on visiting Busan for a day, taking the earliest train and coming back on the latest. Is a single day enough to get the flavor of Busan or should we do a 2 day stay. Keep in mind, we have full itinerary planned for Seoul so extra stay in Busan will cut into that.
Great content, but I want to give you a shout-out for an inspirational and fantastic reflection, tribute, and content related to the UN Memorial Cemetary. South Korea would not exist (as it is today) if the world did not care (Korean War 1950-1953)....send their troops to defend freedom on a land that most didn't know even existed. Thank you for including that portion in this video.... as a Korean-American combat veteran of the U.S. military.
Hello Lisa and Josh!! Where do you go to take the bus to cultural village? Also, did you ever need to recharge your T-Money cards? Thank you for your awesome videos! I can’t wait to go to Busan in October 🫰🏻
Yep - we recharged them basically every other day :) every subway station has a machine to recharge. I think it was this bus stop to get there - use the Naver app - it will tell you more specifically when you're there! goo.gl/maps/9fsP4BGBSKRKa7ax7
Not sure if they have in Busan but get the soft serve vanilla/choco swirl at Baekmidang ice cream. (Check out the one at IFC mall in Yeoido, Seoul). Best ice cream on earth.
Those beer guys are to promote selling of their brand. Usually you have to order a bottle from the store and they will give you the whatever prize they have (usually hangover drink)
Have U guys been to Turkeye. There is an Asian side of Istanbul and the European side. Turkeye is very interesting and amazing. Their food is brilliant. Out of this world
Answer to your Q : soju or beer marketing. They are promoting so that you will order the brand that they are promoting. They are not selling the drinks but want you to order the brand of choice from the restaurant fridge, where they are already competing in.

RESPECT! Anybody who embodies the notion of "taking care of and helping others" deserves respect. Proud moment!!!
My wife and I love Busan also. Last summer we stayed right on the beach in Songdo and this past May we stayed just off the beach at Haeundae.

I love Busan! What a wonderful city!
It really is!
My wife and I spent a few weeks in South Korea earlier this year, and Busan was our favorite stop. Most of our favorite dishes from the whole trip were from there, and spending the evenings along Gwangalli beach was great
The Crocs story absolutely got me. You guys are so thoughtful and intentional in your vlogs (and of course, respectful).
What a fun video! Thanks for taking me along...loved the food, the activities and the fact that you threw in some practical travel tips at the beginning. Yay for practical travel tips! 🙂
The crocs story made me cry.
The Busan Pork Soup (돼지국밥) has magical healing power for hangover!
*magical* we've tried to recreate and it just cannot be done, gotta go back to busan! :)
This itinerary hit the nail on the head - cannot go wrong with gukbap & that bulgogi festival! Great to see you guys enjoying Busan!
Damn good video this one. Busan looks lovely.
I really love when a forgotten dishevelled neighbourhood is revamped and turned into a cultural gem. Oh god... I love Hotteoks! I didn't get to all those spots on my last visit to Busan. I need to go again!
2:08 and 33:11 - Hotteok makes its irresistible (and inevitable) appearance! Josh, you don't disappoint! #hotteok4life #teamhotteok #lisaandjoshandhotteok #hotteokdoesntcounttowardsbudget
#hotteokandjoshtogetherforever ❤️
Thanks for this video. I'm traveling around SEAsia for 7 months and was going to skip busan, but now I'm sure I'll stay for a while.
Oh man, your Korea videos are always so good! I'm not sure how expensive hanwoo beef is in Korea, but considering it's basically Korea's wagyu, I think the prices seemed really fair! Also, I made it on to one of your vlogs (in comment form) at 3:12!

😯 It appears that you bought the highest graded hanwoo beef. Nice.
wow! had no idea! it was super tasty, we loved it!
Very happy you guys had a great time in Busan. I am away from Korea for now but defo missing all the Korean street food ❤

Superb video , Anyeon Haseyo
yr video is great, especially korean festival scene is good.
Love all your clips 😊
Another great budget vid. Question, does Josh really like the Yokohama shirt that much? See that in almost every video…haha
i LOVE that shirt, but I've worn it so much it's starting to fade and get holes, so it may not appear too much longer!
😂
cracking up at the transition from UN memorial to the 14th bulgogi festival :D
5:33 Koreans Farmers Dance. Fun and Iconic.

Awesome travelers 👍
Wow 마을버스를 이용하시네요 ㅎㅎ 역시 제대로 경험하고 즐기시는 여행가입니다 ㅎㅎ
What time of the year/month is that beef festival cause i definitely want to check it out.
This year it was in early June, but would recommend checking for the next year’s. We’ve heard in the past they were held in different months. Hope you get to go!!

Korean hospitality I know is the best in the world
영상 정말잘찍었네요….지루한것없이… 잘보고구독누르고갑니다….❤❤
18:05 i like how Josh spontaneously just went into Rare Earth mode haha
That story about the guard at the UN soldier memorial is so touching. One thing that confuses me is why you called those that were disaffected by the Korean war or fallen refugees? They are Koreans or from Korea.
We were in Busan last Dec for about 4days...one of the more affordable cities to visit
Not sure if this is going to get any response but here goes. I'm going to Seoul in few weeks and will be there for 8 nights. Will you guys go back to using the daily wheel? I love that theme of your videos.🧭
We loved it too! It may make an reappearance ;)

That doesn't seem right
15K won must be about 11-12 USD not 7.66
Great content, but I want to give you a shout-out for an inspirational and fantastic reflection, tribute, and content related to the UN Memorial Cemetary. Do you know if the performance at the Busan Tower is daily or on specific dates?
Not sure if they have in Busan but get the soft serve vanilla/choco swirl at Baekmidang ice cream. (Check out the one at IFC mall in Yeoido, Seoul). Best ice cream on earth.
3:01 김말이. Seaweed roll😊
Out of this world
Does anyone have a link to the smileys bbq place?
Answer to your Q : soju or beer marketing. They are promoting so that you will order the brand that they are promoting. They are not selling the drinks but want you to order the brand of choice from the restaurant fridge, where they are already competing in.
My question: Isnt it too expensive to fly over there for just 3 days? or did you get a super cheap last minute flight? Just curious :)
Hello you 2,
You would, please, let me know which is the best area to stay in Busan, at the end you say it, but I dont understand exactly which one. Thanks 🙏🏻
As well can you send me the location of the smiley restaurant? 🥰🫣
I love daeji gukbap
