I'd love if Riot just spent a year or two putting their "new champion" resources and funds into "champion updates" This looks great, and would love to see some other champions get this sorta update
They've already confirmed they have a new team dedicated to a series of visual updates for old champions in the preseason video. Seems like not many people are aware of that.
Well it makes sense since we've been playing some of these champs for years, Cait especially as an old school champ so to see her get the update she needed then its very exciting.

I'm so glad Caitlyn still has her iconic hat and purple dress, but looking more fresh. I prefer this far more than her look in the Rune Terra Cardgame. The colour, the silouette, everything, it was her just as when she first was released.
@@brianr5889 actually they (now) have a seperate team for purely visual & audio updates (like this, not like fiddlesticks) so we should be getting a lot more of them next year!
@@mrchung they do have a splash team tho, they just outsource them from people at West Studio and Kudos Productions mostly as these 2 art studios have done like 90% of the splashes with the rest being done internally by riot artists

It's finally here! I've been looking forward to this update for so long. Thank you to everyone who worked on this and managed to convicne management that updating old characters was a good idea. And obligatory plug for the Riot Music Team, who continue to somehow never be bad. You all deserve raises.
@@Teemo6544 yes they're both from piltover but if I remember correctly piltover doesn't really have any specific race and it's a mix from all different regions from runeterra Caitlyns father from arcane looks east Asian and most of the Asian themed champions are from Ionia so that's why
Ye, he doesn't need a complete VGU, just an update to his model and looks, and new interactions. People have very interesting stuff to say to him, while he himself is just joking about blood in every single quote he has
I feel like it's gonna be more of a wanderer type but with a more arabian feel since he's from the shuriman region, with hints of dread because he still remembers the horrors of the void.
I think Jax just needs a few tweaks visually, his design is so unique and iconic I wouldn't want them to change it too much. Perhaps just include some more icathian elements and, of course, upgrade his animations. I know the theme song would be fantastic too
She's so hot now in all of her splashes, and the design is actually... good, really good, too! I also like the sneaky little update to her gun that ties in the whole laser pointer schtick she has. Nice attention to continuity Rito.
@@killerbot4425 new champs have either overloaded or recycled abilities because riot is so into the idea of "newer champs should be more powerful in order to be fun and unique" while uncapable of maintaining their overall balancing. If riot keeps pumping new champs the game will be dead, or live as an entirely different game with half the champions being outclassed

Not gonna lie , this makes me quite happy. I always liked caitlyn's concept as a character but was off-put by the old graphics and old, poorly executed character design. I look forward to playing her now that she looks more accurate to her character
Caitlyn was one of the first champions i learned, and it became one of my favorites in the lore along with everything of Piltover, loved the music, and the redising is on point, Im so happy for this, both for play Cait in the game and seeing her in the new series, cant wait!
Words cannot express how happy I am that a lot of the outdated champion models are getting the visual upgrades they deserve. So many champs have fantastic kits with decent balancing but look so HORRID. I thought these champs would be pushed to the wayside forever, left for literally last after every conceivable full VGU. Can’t wait to see Nidalee, Zillean, Anivia, Gragas, Xin, Wukong, and so many more get their visuals updated eventually.
I wish they stopped making new champions for like 3 years or something and just did reworks like this to keep the game fresh and let the game balance easier to manage.
Yeah I want more of these, can we just get a year of these instead? Would love to see new models on champs like Annie, Nidalee, Malzahars, and Miss fortune, and new lines for lore.
I'd honestly love this. New champs are fun and all, but a year of seeing more of our favorite old ones being at least partially reimagined would be amzaing.
Oh thank god. When I think of “old champion desperately in need of visual retouching,” Caitlyn and her awful auto-attacks are often what I think of. (That and Lee Sin, Blitzcrank, and Udyr, god help him)
@@snowycatmsm2786 Cho has actually had his model updated a bit once. Lost some of his triangles. But it was just a pizza feet patch for many. He needs a update to look like his modern splash art really bad.
Now THIS, is what we want. Updating a character's look and style without changing the theme and making it still feel like the original character. This is a good example of a change done right. Keep it up riot.

not sometimes. the league community is huge and taking the time to get around to all the things that need to be fixed isn't easy. there are things the dev team address and things that the community addresses. thinking things are going to be changed fast is a dumb ideology. people need to realize that some things are going to be put on the back burner and more important task get put first. never assume that dev team or any other team aren't caring about the community. put yourself in their shoes and try to imagine the amount of work they have to do on a daily basis. their human with personal human problems. they have a lot more going on in their lives than just developing a game.
This makes me feel like Riot just wanted to increase their musical repertoire for their music department...and that just makes me happy. edit: IMHO... Riot music - 9.5/10 Riot artwork - 9.5/10 Riot lore (w/o ruination) - 8/10 Riot lore (w/ ruination) - 6.5./10 LoR - 8.5/10 LoL and the other games. dunno, don't play them anymore.
Caitlyn got redesigned because of Arcane show. So people who want their gragas or other redesigns, unless by some miracle he becomes the most popular champ or he is somehow featured in a show, there won't be any hope for now
@@Minute_Sniper They'll get there eventually, he's meta right now which puts him higher on their list. They have to take into account popularity of the champion, how old it is, how outdated it looks and what events they can sync it up with.
@@blacklight1104 eh yes and no. Cho model ages pretty well but if you look back, it's the oldest model in the game and has yet to received any updated. He can be done a bit better. And yes, Void need an expansion so Cho is a pretty good candidate for a visual update.

i might hate on league, but its the visual only reworks that do show that they care about old champs, even if a lil bit, and that lil bit was enough to give both cait and ez a good facelift without altering their their core gameplay identity... but as I write this hollow praise one question still remains unanswered... why delete aatrox ?
Morgana was classified as a VGU (visual gameplay update) because she was done alongside Kayle. This is a new branch they're doing called ASU (art and sustainability update) which is just animations and art. So in short yes, her kit will not be changed.

Honestly I think they shouldn't rework on all but some champions. Some heroes were already reworked such as Evelyn, Akali, Fiddlesticks etc.

Yeah I want more of these, can we just get a year of these instead? Would love to see new models on champs like Annie, Nidalee, Malzahars, and Miss fortune, and new lines for lore.
They have a whole team dedicated to these types of updates so I assume we'll get more next year.
I'd honestly love this. New champs are fun and all, but a year of seeing more of our favorite old ones being at least partially reimagined would be amzaing.

Now THIS, is what we want. Updating a character's look and style without changing the theme and making it still feel like the original character. This is a good example of a change done right. Keep it up riot.

I thought Riot was just gonna use her lor theme but no, they actually put some effort to make a decent song for Caitlyn when they didn't have to. Really shows Riot does care about the community sometimes.
We’ll the music and design teams definitely do. The balance and game dev teams tho? Not so much
because most of the lor themes are just stock trailer music you can buy
not sometimes. the league community is huge and taking the time to get around to all the things that need to be fixed isn't easy. there are things the dev team address and things that the community addresses. thinking things are going to be changed fast is a dumb ideology. people need to realize that some things are going to be put on the back burner and more important task get put first. never assume that dev team or any other team aren't caring about the community. put yourself in their shoes and try to imagine the amount of work they have to do on a daily basis. their human with personal human problems. they have a lot more going on in their lives than just developing a game.

Caitlyn got redesigned because of Arcane show.
So people who want their gragas or other redesigns, unless by some miracle he becomes the most popular champ or he is somehow featured in a show, there won't be any hope for now

They made a post a few weeks ago, saying that they are working on others champ as well, because Arcane is first so they prioritize PvZ champs first.

What's wrong with Cho
I don't necessarily agree with Cho though. Maybe sound effects but visually, no. Unless, he gets a rework that is which isn't necessary imo.
@@blacklight1104 eh yes and no. Cho model ages pretty well but if you look back, it's the oldest model in the game and has yet to received any updated.
He can be done a bit better. And yes, Void need an expansion so Cho is a pretty good candidate for a visual update.

The "oldest" model goes to all original 40 Champions. That includes Shaco, Jax, Teemo, Janna, Zilean, Veigar, Malphite and many more.

i might hate on league, but its the visual only reworks that do show that they care about old champs, even if a lil bit, and that lil bit was enough to give both cait and ez a good facelift without altering their their core gameplay identity...

Morgana was classified as a VGU (visual gameplay update) because she was done alongside Kayle. This is a new branch they're doing called ASU (art and sustainability update) which is just animations and art.
So in short yes, her kit will not be changed.

It's kinda funny how the designs going from skirt to pants actually made them way sexier.
I think the reason for adding pants was to make it more thematically correct, not to sexify or unsexify the look
