Video suggestion: if one's in the market for a laptop or tablet, should they buy it with a built-in cellular modem? After all, one key choice on Apple's ordering page for the iPad is Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi + Cellular.

Can’t tell you how much I wish more laptops had WWAN cards.

@@SWOhioSpeedtesting I sure do. I ride the train on a semi-frequent basis, and the train Wi-Fi is not very good, and hotspot usage drains my battery plus is limited under my plan, so I'm very glad I paid for the LTE modem in my Surface Go 3.

i think that answer comes down to how important is constant connection for that device? If solid reliable connection is needed, then + Cellular is the move. I've never needed a connected a device with that solid of a connection, so WiFi only has been good for me.

@@whistleout I guess that's why 99% of all laptops (not tablets) that have the option of a cellular modem are models aimed at the business rather than consumer market. Having a solid and reliable connection on the go is something really only businesses need, apparently.

I worked for the FAA and the only carrier that worked indoors underground was Verizon due to the repeaters installed throughout the campus. Had a Verizon hotspot and Tmobile cell phone on WiFi calling. At home it was the complete opposite, Verizon sucked and Tmo was great.

The data caps need to be closer to 350GB for a $80 per month plan.
How many times does an OS or software update happen that you cannot control, or if you can you still need to do it anyhow as you are a digital nomad?
Stupid software updates could easily hog out 20GB. God forbid you like to came and some single game gets a 60GB update in the same month you made the mistake of streaming a couple more movies than normal and then you are cut off a week before your new billing cycle (or throttled to the point of might as well be cut-off).
Even some smaller Steam game could be a 10GB download. If you aren't paying attention when uninstalling some steam game you completed and then just clicking on another game you haven't played yet....boom! Tons of data gone.
websites are very heavy now too. With faster CPUs, high speed connections, computers with lots of ram, web devs are getting sloppy and have very heavy web pages quite often. It's as if the technology became better for the web Data plans didn't follow. Data plans are not that great now that most webpages hammer you with so much bulk when they could almost certainly have the same webpages with 1/2 the data being sent to you.
